Most likely given how powerful it is. I doubt they would ditch Wwise given that there hasn't been many audio issues in destiny - and the toolkit is insane + the game still runs on the same engine. I'd be very surprised if they used something else.

Delays are due to the gameplay, not really engine related issues. The tiger engine is still one of the best performing and most optimised game engines that I've ever seen

yeah i was just talking to my friend about how cool it would be to see the Wwise project file of a AAA game like destiny and they told me i should just try reaching out and asking

I'm not sure if they helped with Destiny but i know that Hexany Audio has done work for bungie and they're affiliated with Audiokinetic as a "Wwise Ambassador" so i sent an email to their 'contact' page on their website

Well that won't give that away, maybe you'll get lucky but probably not as it's proprietary assets. You'd have to get in contact with someone who's actually worked on the engine integration. If you're really interested in it and would rather self-explore you could try looking at other projects like DOOM (2016) which used some killer Wwise tech. That way you don't have to go through the effort of datamining as I think this stuff is already out there somewhere.

Yeah that's what I'm worried about, I'm sure i would have more luck reaching out to an indie developer but I really haven't played many indie games that use wwise, plus they don't exactly make it easy to figure out who's in charge of the Wwise project

Not sure if it's open source, probably not. But you can still explore the files regardless (as long as you stay in the legal side)

Older games are much more prone to having their files already out there datamined, it's a lot easier to access those than trying to force your way into the newer games

I also know from my own experience using wwise that the size of the projects gets pretty big. With an unlicensed version of Wwise you get i think 200 files of audio so i cant imagine how big a project like DOOM or D2 would be 🫠

just now realizing that even if i could find the soundbank file for DOOM , i wouldnt be able to open it since it definitely has more than 200 files in it

Yeah it's big. I actually explored a lot of the audio files for the Marathon alpha and there's SO many. I'm also interested in seeing the Wwise engine stuff but it's kind of hard once the game is compiled

Best we got is the raw audio files which is just kinda cool to listen to. Good luck with the reaching out to audiokenetic though hopefully you get some luck on that front.

Since your interest is in the audio side of Destiny/Marathon, I would *** very strongly*** recommend visiting the "Last City Radio" discord. A good number of people in there are ** extremely** knowledgable about Destiny audio. Pretty much everything you could possibly think of, someone there probably knows. I would also wager it is highly likely if there is any information about WWise use for audio in the Marathon April Alpha(whether it is also like Destiny), that they would have a answer.

Just briefly searching WWise alone in that server gave at least 230 results. It would not surprise me if they have a version of the project file you are talking about, or created their own via reverse engineering. There has even been a guy who reverse engineered Destinys rendering system in his own custom tool. It would not surprise me if someone in that discord did similar for Destiny Audio.

Personally I think marathon doesn’t have enough content to justify even having a price point, obviously we only saw a portion of the game but still its one of those things where even though I love the aesthetic of the game I don’t feel comfortable putting full trust in yet

Thing is how will they exactly implement their lore, Bungie is not good at showing their good lore in the actual game and reduced them to in-game books, and considering there will be terminals and in map secrets, I just hope they do it well enough with like voices and such to keep casual people engaged cause to be honest not a lot of ppl r willing to read lore

Like destiny has some of the most fire lore and most of that is in books both in game and real life

While maybe like 1-2 dlcs from D1 and like 1-3 dlcs in destiny 2 actually shows good in+game lore
