Those 3 points of contention are points I fully respect. And you made a great point in your first sentence. Which is why I don’t engage with rage bait and trolls. Just observing the amount of people that are very loud in viscously attacking the game not for its capacity, but for their own agenda. A very well put point on your end tho. I would say if you ask me about the hero aspect, I agree to a level, but I think it introduces a level of game strategy involved in engagements. By being able to tell the team comp of the people you are engaging, it creates a good learning curve on how to deal with certain characters/abilities and such. So I feel there is an argument to be made for the consistency of having set characters. Although I do know customization is a big point in these types of games

Absolutely. I definitely see your point. I was thinking a nice middle ground is maybe a set of different abilities that each character can pick from. So a layer of variety is introduced but with a set limit. They can then retain the strategy of team comp and engagements while allowing for some flexibility and a smaller layer of character customization that is gameplay focused instead of cosmetic focused. That’s is definitely my worry. I honestly had a great time in the alpha. The core gameplay is actually fun. Although it definitely needs that content spice so we get to see it live long enough to build the world. the potential is very much there just from the world of marathon alone. I do hope they really think about this. It was confirmed that we will be getting alien things and alien content on release and secrets, as well as they have more mechanics and things we have yet to see with the 2 other maps and the story aspects. The idea of exotic weapons, I honestly wouldn’t be able to give a proper opinion on. I feel like its such a risky thing to add to this game with stakes like this where dying you lose your loot, so someone with an exotic that isn’t balanced well or just gives too much of an advantage will feel madingly unfair to the person on the receiving end. D2 is a big example of balancing issue with highly wacky guns. I need to see how that would work honestly in this game. But what I fully subscribe too, is having more variety of AI, more interesting encounters. (Mind you I’m a sole PvP player, all I do is PvP) but I definitely would find interest in some curious AI encounters around the map, they did say we will be seeing aliens……..but again, very ambiguous at this point in time

To be honest, I’m actually quite glad they are making a PvP focused game. Im definitely biased, I’ll fully admit that. As a dedicated PvP player and more specifically a LONG time D2 PvP player. Destiny has and always will be a PvE first game, and I think that’s great, but the PvP has been suffering forever due to it always being secondary or an after thought in some cases. So I’ve had a major itch for a good PvP experience from bungie, cuz the gunplay is great! The alpha showed the potential to scratch that itch (That’s what I mostly meant by the core gameplay I found fun). That’s mostly what’s gotten me so curious about wether the full game will really scratch that PvP itch with seeing the full arsenal, the more difficult maps with lower survival rates, the balancing changes they said they made in the last stream, the ranked playlist. Don’t get me wrong tho, I am infinitely interested in the world of marathon, and being unfamiliar with it, I’m VERY curious to see more of the PvE/World.

Yeah for sure. Night raids in Tarkov are fantastic once you get access to NVG or thermals. It decreases the aggro distance on AI enemies unless it's like bosses or guards who can spawn with NVG. There are IR lasers you can use on your guns, stuff like that.

maybe its just me, but I see certain things lacking in Arc Raiders too for longevity. Like id love to see a more in depth modding system, a bartering economy for certain items and more boss style enemies. I see how Arc Raiders can be fun for a couple of hundred hours, but it does not feel right now like it is a fun for a couple of thousand hours like Tarkov

Yeah i can agree BUT atleast that is somewhat easily fixed by just adding more content. They have a very solid base game to work with

by far way better than Marathon, just kinda wish they had the marathon IP instead bcs the marathon universe is so much cooler than arc raiders. Feels wrong for the game with the insanely cool IP to be lame and the game with the alright IP being very good
