I did get to try both, I did not enjoy ARC. I haven't ever played an extraction shooter before playing this Marathon test. I feel like Marathon was just.. easier to get into but still difficult? Arc kinda just felt difficult and lacked direction. I'm sure there are some hardcore gamers out there that love that though. I really liked the graphics in that game though, the maps were absolutely beautiful

yeah funnily enough the stakes seems kinda higher in marathon than in arc. it was fairly easy to get a raider key early on in arc and just extract but it did feel like a proper extraction shooter. I don't really know what marathon wants to be either

at least in my experience it kind of tossed you into the game without a realistic representation of how the game worked. the tutorial was incredibly basic. but the first match I joined, i spawned some place next to a giant spider robot and a few drones and instantly died, despite me and my 2 friends doing our best to kill it. While the AI in marathon is can be really strong, I just kind of felt like I had no chance immediately. Also things just like where to get out on the map just didn't feel very clear

I’ve played ARC Raiders and enjoyed it, but can’t see myself investing lots of time into it. It’s a beautiful game, but there’s very little lore to invest you in the world and 3rd person PvP just doesn’t grab me.

I haven’t played Marathon yet, but having enjoyed Destiny’s Crucible for many years (despite all the jank), I have some confidence in Bungie’s 1st person PvP. The art style looks more exciting to me (just needs polish) and Bungie makes interesting lore.

Hopefully both games can be successful because they seem to be offering different things.

I've sunk 4k hours into D2 crucible, and was lucky enough to play both Marathon and Arc. Marathon in its present state absolutely did not grab me the way Arc and Hunt Showdown have. I do think think they'll make the right changes.

The movement and gunplay is there, but there are some definite bones missing

I know a lot of people are throwing the alpha tag around but five months out if at best it’s a close beta. Everything is basically done and the issue is the player retention and how bad it was the player account. Nobody gives a shiet because it was a closed beta and limited keys. I think it’s more of player progression, it feels amazing to craft bandages and shields, guns and being able to find recipes in game. Also not one raider will be the same because of builds. It’s a cool system and every raid feels like you are progressing, marathon is everyone has the same quests and upgrades and eventually everyone will be the same besides different hero’s and the exotics that change your play style. I think they need more if they wanna be a live service
