Extraction shooters at their core are about survival. And survival games are best when treading into the unknown and not knowing whats around the corner. Hearing gunfire in the distance and just knowing it's a trio automatically 100% kills any form of that unknown feeling. Removes a layer of suspense that's inherent in other extraction games.

The Finals died almost 1 month after full release, and Embark def needs to learn from their mistake and set a roadmap and have ways to maintain player retention

Unpopular opinion on Embark’s AI usage; AI is mega lame but it is coming to gaming in wether we like it or not; but I think Embark has approached it in an ethical way via hiring actors for voice banks and continually paying them as it’s used.

Gunfights feel streamlined and unique. Unlike the non-competitive integrity of just 3 peaking and trading shields, there are more opportunities and incentives to play aggressively in Marathon. Not being able to tell so easily between players and bots makes it feel higher stakes too. Something about the looting feels way more satisfying and less of a slog. I like the variety between runners too.
