#Both the Plex and the Jellyfin scripts just hang when selecting Advanced + Debian.
31 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
both scripts are as default optimized for ubuntu 22.04
Yes, but I'm selecting Debian from Advanced.
If that doesn't function, then it shouldn't be an option 🤷
Then we take it out completely and only support debian 12. guys guys. It says specifically that the main support runs on the given OS, if another is used, at your own risk.
Well, given the installer freaks out if the user selects option Debian, why not remove the option ? It doesn't work anyway
OP has a point, but Jellyfin's own documentation states the same steps for both Debian and Ubuntu derivatives so it should theoretically work for both as the script has the steps outlined as per the docs
EDIT: Source: https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/installation/linux/#debuntu-debian-ubuntu-and-derivatives-using-apt
I tried going through the steps of the installer... but I don't see where exactly is freezes. It is very early on though.
Which is weird, bc it's not even created the LXC yet.
Did you try running it in verbose mode so it is more possible to catch where it hung?
So Jellyfin isn't the culprit i think ?
It doesn't seem to be the Jellyfin or Plex install scripts at fault here since LXCs are not created.
yup, it doesn't get to the JF install
exactly
Are you able to try other scripts to see whether if it's the LXC script at fault or the specific scripts? Run it in verbose mode and send screenshots if possible to help diagnose?
I'll give it a go right now
I tried Jackett, both debian & ubuntu installers function.
Yet, Plex & Jellyfin freeze at this early point :
I'd like to try a setup that defaults to ubuntu & select debian, but I don't know which scripts do this ?
aham.... Emby, same problem :
Interesting... I did a quick glance and saw no variation in the scripts that call the functions to build the containers.
so weird that it hangs at this early stage
Indeed as it's following the same outlined functions as the rest
are you able to replicate ?
I just tried it on slightly more powerfull hardware , same same :
Okay I managed to replicate it after simply selecting Debian in the Advanced options
Quick scan of the build.func shows nothing of issue to me... Strange...
Worse comes to worst, open an issue on GitHub, somebody that is not on the discord channel might be able to chime in on this
whats weird is that even after maintainer told you to use ubuntu, you still go about talking debian install.... how are you not getting it? the script is not made for debian
The issue here is, the pveam cant be downloaded, but nevermind, the user know its better
How are people (maintainer or no) not understanding that offering an option that is broken is a bad idea ?
That's always been the case. Therefore, a preselection is made. If we remove this completely, the complete freedom is restricted and there is 1 standard OS. I don't know why people are getting upset? Nobody has ever said anything negative about it. Then build it better.
