Thanks!!
Basically the show car with a red bull livery zzzz
Expecting the same from every team going forward
did you expect them to show every innovation on the reveal? 😛
I expected something different
Plot Twist, it is the actual RB18 and they're fucked this season
not sold on the yellow nose
The only cars that might look a little different are Haas and Mclaren apparently
since they didn't buy a bunch of the showcars
so they will unveil early prototype builds
everyone else is just gonna paint a show car they bought
Yeah, I dunno how thats gonna work cos isn't Max meant to be running the number 1 in gold?
i feel like thats gonna... clash really fucking bad with a bright yellow nose
that aston looks quite different tbh
Yeah, apparently they didnt just paint the stock car 😮
They bought 3 so they have got stock cars, just obviously decided to roll out a prototype anyway
Looks much better with the yellow in place if the pink, sorry BWT. That said, I don't care what it looks like, I just hope it's fast 😅
Wonder what's up with the slots on the side pods
maybe they figured how to direct hot air from the engine to the rear wing or smth
theres quite a lot of them there
Or down into the tunnels?
Jesus that nose is HIGH
If this somewhat near the final product theyre really pushing for air under the car
Join us for our 2022 Team Launch, where we'll reveal the MCL36, as well as our new challengers in IndyCar, Extreme E, and Shadow. Plus, hear from F1 drivers Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo.
McLaren Plus is our fan engagement programme, which brings McLaren fans closer to the team with the most inclusive, rewarding and open-to-all fan program...
i love the mcl car
certainly better then that red bull show car lol
Yea the front wings will probably all be high just to get as much air as possible to the venturi tunnels.
Before more of the mid body downforce came from under the floor so they needed to channel air lower
Plus the front wing probably gives a fraction of the downforce this year anyways.
Just for anyone out of loop this is happening today
Thoughts on the AT launch? I don't mind the livery, solid 7/10 for me
its... bland
needs some more punch
i like the overall design though. it just needs more color
Its not now. They decided to not publicly release the information. Its being filed neatly alongside Ferrari 2019 engine report.
It happened tho
a couple changes have been made now
The F1 Commission gathered today, 14 February, in London, for its first meeting of 2022, and the first attended by newly-elected FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem. The following is an overview of the key discussion points and decisions, as the FIA and Formula 1 look forward to a record-breaking 23-event season.
Yeah. Following the investigation into Abu Dhabi, we have decided to have sprint races with more points and less points for races that should have been cancelled.
These are the changes we all were looking for right?
Honestly I feel the points for part races is... fine?I feel like less the 25% distance shouldn't even be considered a race, but I don't hate that change
At least there must be racing laps now. No "race" behind the safety car anymore
Oh I didn't see that clarification. Yeah that's good.
too bad another show car on display
didnt even bother with even tiniest cosmetic differences
Yeah always gonna irk me but ill give some slack that they ATLEAST have a new livery
Why I praise AM for their reveal
But AM realised the social media market and fans are huge and capitalising on that market
I like that new livery
Also I think we get real Williams shots today anyway as they are doing a shakedown m
that would be amusing
"what? i thought we could just put an engine in it and go racing..."
turns out its quite a lot different compared to aston
mainly the body of the car is narrow as fuq
That's a very different concept
supposedly this is the ferrari
Yeah heard about that leak
although im ngl im just never a fan of ferrari liverys
I guess im a chelsea fan so im not a big fan of red anyways so probably just bias
Actually looks pretty dope
they are out of f1
especially that shit green logo
it was acceptable when it was white/black
but my god that green version
The FIA releases a video at the same time as the Ferrari launch, outlining its structural changes to race control:
- Masi out as race director
- Remote race control that will support the race director
- Direct radio comms to race director removed
#F1
Full statement for anyone interested
MADLADS DID IT
The wec guy takes no shit
Remember when masi said last year I am not giving them penalty cos in my opinion everyone broke the rules?
This guy will give everyone a fucking penalty
agreed
easy solution to track limits. install sensors along the middle of the floor at a few points. place sensors in corners where an advantage is to be gained half the width of the cars outside the corner. car passes, race control is alerted. penalty
if they were pushed wide off the corner, it is investigated as such. if they lost control and went wayyy off line and they lost time, no penalty. if they are just doing it to gain an advantage, no warnings you just hit them with a penalty
im sure the fia can work out something sensor wise
or have a camera installed in the middle of the nose looking at the leading edge of the wing and have a line pained half the cars width outside of the corner
if the front of the car is in track limits and the rear isnt then almost certainly its oversteering and they lost time anyways
Sexy AF
different wheel covers compared to other teams
oh this isnt the real car
lmao
its a god damn useless render
If this is the alpine car by god that is fucking ugly
incorrect
pls not
that looks awful
Supposedly it’s a bad photoshop of this
I can believe that tbh
Yeah that's definitely a bad photoshop
But alpine will have the bwt pink on it.
And to be fair, I think the pink force Indias looked pretty good
Pink as a highlight usually sucks. The Force Indias made it work by just going all out with it
11th team perhaps?
that will be awesome
🚨 | Official and confirmed: Starting in 2022, F1 drivers will have free tyre choice for race starts.
The Q2 tyre rule is no longer in the sporting regulations.
436
Confirmation of reports earlier this year
Also they scrapped the 2 race gearbox thing
Now it's just a gearbox pool
I'm guessing it's 11 gearboxes for the season or something and if you go over that you get a 5 place pen
I thought it wasi masi making an f1 team
He would turn up with drone driven monster trucks being like "well, if you interpret the regs this way its totally fine"
Dont they have like 3 gearboxes total?
And they had to do like 7 races on each or a penalty etc
I mean
That sounds more likely
I've been watching so long I remember when gearbox had to last 2 races and don't remember there being a big thing about changing it
So I've always remembered it as a gearbox gotta last 2 races but honestly it's probably closer to your number now 😅
I thought it was 5 or 6 races per gearbox
It was a dumb rule anyways. The gearboxes are so reliable that they never failed on their own. It only became an issue when there was some sort of crash (like at Monaco last year)
Or when Ferrari wanted alonso on the other side of the grid so they cracked the seal on massa's
But any limits on components is just dumb. Let teams do what they want with their cost cap
2 days till Barca test!!
i cant wait to see the teams runn.... oh, wait
we'll see how well made these highlights will be
if they'll be like 10 minutes etc then idc rly
Teams will probably take some footage in the pits and around the track. But I think that's about all we will see.
Maybe a fia camera or two but I wouldn't hold my breath for a lot
Is the media there to do reporting though? If so, that will be the best coverage.
That's usually how I follow along, Autosport usually has good live updates.
So Alpine is running a full out BWT livery for the first two races this year
Pink panther returns pog?
Ferrari red bull and merc putting in work thos morning
Seb to skip Russian GP (if it still happens)
Also, imagine what it's like at Haas right now
imagine steiner
like thay clinged to that razor blade of a sponsorship
and it blows up literally right now
Saudi Arabia has been engaged in a genocide in Yemen. There is a reason why people called it the human rights triple
There are so many examples of countries engaged in horrific behavior and the fia doesn't give a shit
If anything the fia just raises their hosting fee
While I completely agree with your sentiment, you have to admit that the political pressure to drop Russia will be FAR higher.
Not to mention the drivers may force their hand. Verstappen also flatly said they shouldn't be racing there
Depending on what happens over the coming months I agree.
But the end of September is a long way off.
Honestly, thats why they haven't cancelled
If it was in March, it would have been. Right now FIA be like... well, Russia probably take what they want within a month, war ends, 6 months later everyone is prboably being all pally with Russia again
And they aren't wrong.
Haas is probably fucked unless they got all the funds frontloaded
What I'm thinking too. This isn't new for them.
I think the most likely thing to result in a cancellation is if the GPDA say they will refuse to race.
That is easier to do now than later when someone might think twice if they are in WDC contention.
If the majority of drivers sign on to a race boycott that might be enough to force the hand of the fia
Or sanctions hitting the money they would get
🚨 Breaking: Haas will remove Uralkali branding and run in a plain white livery for the final day of #F1Testing in Barcelona 🚨 https://t.co/YqVBhhDy6P
“🚨 Breaking: Haas will remove Uralkali branding and run in a plain white livery for the final day of #F1Testing in Barcelona 🚨 https://t.co/YqVBhhDy6P”
How brave
the plain white livery looks better
Russian gp canceled
Actually official wording is Russia has been stripped of its right to host

He isn't wrong
All the teams went to a meeting last night
I'm pretty sure they said either cancel it, or we are announcing we boycott it
I just heard this for the first time today, and it made me smile https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzTlp8Z5gc4

What a short F1 “career” for mazepin
At least he got to taste the new machinery kekw
Fittipaldi is driving for them this year then?
There's lots of Jesus rumours too
Also daruvala and potentionally piastri but I dont see piastri, even though its who I'd most like to see there.
piastris management already said no
Yeah rumours are persisting but I don't see how it's doable really because alpine won't tear up the contract, at which point your taking a rookie, albeit a talented one, for no real upside.
Daruvala seems very, very plausible. He doesn't have mazepin money but his got a bit plus the Indian Market is massive to exploit
suprised they actually said no
i get it that haas wount probably a dream machine but still better than playing gran turismo at alpine headquarters all day
....
They are putting a sausage kerb
At the entrance to eau rouge
doesnt that sound like a recipe for disaster?
i mean you go flat out in the in a ground effect car
touch it even a little and what
you upset ur aero massively at 280kph when trying to turn right wtf
first time F1 viewer this season. do you guys watch the international or the Pit lane mode? idk what commentators are best and/or what gives the best experience
Personally i like the sky commentary
Yea sky for english
thats the regular international one with david croft right?
Yea
Welcome 🙂
Much as sky gets shit on, it's pretty good especially for a new viewer. Crofty asking dumb questions for some else to explain isn't as tedious when you don't actually know the answer yourself
Yup. And Ted is great
Oh shit, Kmag is back!!
Jesus fuck that Mercedes
And protest threats already XD
kinda would see why
but tbh i dont see the reason to deem it illegal
ofc im an expert in the matter xDD
from what i've read
but they do have that safety beam in the right place
Merc already showed the FIA
they just chucked the rest in the bin
Horner was so fast to say that illegal
I'm 99% sure Red Bull wanted to do it and couldnt
i think the point was that they have to have 2 of these side impact parts
and i think they are at war over the lower one
Yeah its because its like, a wing and not a sideboard
pod*
I think whats in thier favour is that when the FIA ran it through CFD, it didnt add any extra dirty air
welp
looking at totally legit times from the morning
1,8 slower than leclerc on same tyre xd
Mercedes seems to be the ones struggling most with porpoising from the session i saw earlier. sparks flying everywhere
oh just someone tell horner to shut the fuck up and go to work
i won't stand horner and wolff bitching about all season long
The season hasnt even started yet 😭
u realize
they only do this shit publicly
so u talk about it
and if u dont talk about it
it goes away
Here we can see Mercedes F1 Car W13 HEAVY PORPOISING at the Bahrain Pre-Season Test!!
Hope you guys enjoyed the Video. If you did, give it a like👍 and Subscribe for more!!
#F1 #F1TESTING #LEWISHAMILTON
Its because theres been changes now to how stuff is done
Basically, if 8 out of 10 teams vote in favour, they can just ban stuff thats legal mid season
Spirit of the Regulations is basically double talk, but its basically the avenue Red Bull will take to try and get other teams to vote to ban it
I think the issue with that argument will be that the FIA have already run the CFD for it and found it doesn't generate any extra dirty air. And since the main spirit of the regulations was "Get rid of dirty air" its probably fine.
They just need to bri g back active suspension already
But I doubt they will because it will just cut a huge amount of lap time.
Mercedes spending too much time on removing the sidepods they gonna be bumping around all season
A lot of the work done last test in removing it will have to be redone this time
wouldnt be suprised if they thought
going overboard with these sidepods
would stabilize the car or smth
it's nothing to do with stability does it? it's too much suction?
This is typical Merc though. Design a car that is on the ragged edge of what is drivable and then spend 2 months trying to get a handle on the setup.
has to be floor changes?
It's caused by too much downforce
So they need to tune the suspension more or reduce the downforce
would suspension help it outside bumps tho? it happens when you get too much downforce at high speeds
car gets sucked down
It's interesting. Most cars were bouncing from the rear. The Merc looks like it's the whole damn car
oh yeah thats true. but it would still hit the ground at times no? just less bouncing
basically it would tighten up when going down
so in absolute ideal conditions
the car would be at the exact same level all the time
It always happens. It has happened for years. It was just less noticable.
Last season 40-45% of downforce came from the floor. This season it's more like 85%
wasnt that supposed to be as before
40/20/40
and now
20/60/20
front/floor/rear
i think the cars are way lower to the ground this season?
not too sure about that one tho
I think the ride height is the same under load
they try to get lower to make the effect stronger
But there are no more high rake cars
So before they would look higher
The front wings are for sure higher this season. That's in the rules
Yeah, the bouncing is way more pronounced just due to the extreme advantage gained being lower to the floor
Haas just casually 7 seconds off the pace
Why put the money into 2022 when they are waiting for 2024
I guess this is now the permanent replacement of what used to be the formula1 channel on this discord?
YES
I personally don't mind either, but I just notice it's not as active as it used to be last season
now that might also change when the season starts ofc
I bought F1TV earlier today and tried out some of that RaceControl goodness
that's a lifechanger tbh
I really don't like this being in a thread. Makes sense during the off season though.
It's just a pain to navigate to especially on mobile.
Agree threads suck
yeee
i'm kinda for getting back our independence and make f1 a great channel again xd
theres no functional difference
Different means of navigating there especially on mobile
@worthy juniper what do you think?
I dont understand what's worse about this compared to a channel?
On my phone it appears just like a channel
android
its a bit hidden on iphone

people would see it when it is the season i dont think many people check the threads of channels
I prefer the channel but personally it's very minor. I'm only here for the f1 now anyway since I quit wow so it's just the default tab for me
And it's off season, it's always gonna be quiet. Most people arent sad bastards watching old Mika vs The Michael reruns during the off season
Literally no difference for me on Android, it just shows up as a sub-channel of the Trueshotlodge channel
main difference being that you only see this thread if you've participated in it before
Unless you look for it
All the threads can been seen regardless of if you used it before, its just that if you haven't you don't see it unless you go into the threads section, which most people probably don't do
im just saying channel during season / thread off but
its up to azor
Watching Drive to Survive season 4, and i gotta say. Mazepin seems like a very likeable person
i feel like mazepin would actually be a better person if he stayed in the sport a few more years
because they force him to act a certain way

wouldn't make him a better person, just a more PR trained person
i like the daddy
when his son wasnt able to drive straight
he just made threats of withdrawing xd
overall i liked this season
a few obvious fuckups but still
enjoyable to watch
Speaking of Haas, they nicked the fastest time for the day at the end, lol. Probably just a glory run, but still fun to see.
I'm going to miss mazepin watch on those boring races
How slow he is was endlessly amusing.
it's the car
Right. Any time a race got a bit dull you could always get some entertainment out of, how many seconds a lap is mazepin currently losing.
I jus realised somethin, its RAWEEEE CEEEEEEK
yissss
Oh fuck it is lol

Please don't let the ferrari end up being shit
I literally don't care if Charles and Carlos do their best 2014 Lewis and Nico impression.
Ideally we get a mclaren vs ferrari fight but I'm kind of worried that mclaren is gonna be... like the old mclarens
Really fast but fall apart in a gentle breeze
I just want to see vettel do better than last year tbh
I want to see the Ferrari as much as possible. It's so damn sexy
FINALLY
If Ferrari are put in a position to win I would feed terrible for sainz. Imo he is just as good as leclerc but you just know Ferrari will make sainz hand him points
Honestly, its why theres part of me that wouldn't actually mind if Ferrari were Merc 2014 good
just because Ferrari could be like "yeah fuck it just race boys"
I think in a championship car, Leclerc will beat Sainz over the season because he won't lose points due to going YOLO I TRY PODIUM/WIN
But yeah, it will suck if Ferrari end up just hard shafting Sainz
Yea I agree over a season leclerc would win
man that toto comment from DTS episode 9
"Do you drink? do you drink during the day? you do"

Just need Dennis Hauger to win F2 this year and see him in F1 later. Norwegian driver
Just when you thought the drama around the final race was dying down now its gonna rekindle
its about time when they said they'll release the findings xd
Yeah theyve changed it now to All
Legal writing is always written more passively.
Like, in my will it says "any assets" not "all assets"
But yeah this although a very good thing means were 100000% gonna see more uproar from their admission of guilt there
And horner going apeshit trying to justify the last race as being legitimate
I wonder how they are going to clarify that the SC comes in the following lap after cars are unlapped
Because that was pretty fucking clear in the rules
I fully expect this report to be "We fucked up"
Well, time to wrap it up boys. Looks like max gets an "*" beside his name in the history books. Congrats lewis on #8
Good luck on #9
Max, hopefully you get yours one day
think for fan sake ill just ignore that race ever existed when i rewatch the season
Just start the season at spa and then stop it there too best race if all time

Coincidentally another masi fuck up
That they also admitted was a fuck up with chances made like a month ago
*changes
I love that the fia needed to clarify that there needs to be at least a green lap for something to count as a race
Because otherwise it's a damn parade
Theres no admission, and there won't be one
they will change rules to make sure there can't be any... unconventional interpretations in future
but the line will remain that, and not change. Everything Masi did was... non-standard, controversional, a break from what we would normally expect, but still technically within the rules
And whilst you can draw all sorts of conclusions from the changes, ultimately, the line aint changing and the result isn't changing either
Tbh, I'd be totally past it if it wasn't for fucking Horner mentioning it every 5 minutes
The rule just literally is that
the rule has changed
It's implied. They will never be explicit
They will say it was in a grey area then or some bullshit that everyone knows is bullshit.
Its not
it's literally changed
page 54/101 of the sporting regulations
i know. you know. everyone knows. they will still never admit it if asked
Thats just a rule change. Essentially using that logic, everyone had illegal cars last year because they changed the rules on cars for this year
did the famous "ITS NOT SO RIGHT" get booted this season?
The fia said it's their intention to limit communication more (they say). There is also no more fia radio so we will never know.
The issue is that masi was a bitch. The two new race directors and the assistant race director this season have an actual track record and know what they are doing.
Masi should have never had the job in the first place
Inb4 people bitch and moan again when the new directors fuck up
I don't anticipate the same issues. These guys have a known and very established track record.
We'll see
Nah cause that logic doesnt stand when you add the context to the situation
The context alongside the rule change it what makes it stick
I mean, people will bitch about the ex WEC guy
Because he will punish their favourite driver
Because they broke the rules
The DTM guy I dunno exactly. His got experience but DTM is a fucning shitshow because its DTM and its rules are a bit of a shit show.
Like honestly. Abu Dhabi shitshow aside. They are making rules changes in safety cars and driver uniforms
But nothing about making fucking clear what is and isn't allowed on the track. Which honestly is the biggest fucking issue
Like I have a personal preference in how much aggression I prefer. But if they want to sit there and say every move max does is fine and they won't punish I don't have an issue with that if they clearly say that it's fine and then everyone can drive like that wheel to wheel.
The issue is the complete fucking mystery that means we all sit here going that can't be right or this can be right and we all making it up because really what is and isn't allowed is a fucking enigma dictated by the whim of whoever is the race director and stewards for the weekend.
imo we will never find out about that. it will be in private drivers and team briefings.
because those arent strictly in the rules and largely are determined by precedent they just need to clarify the precedent they will be using. but ultimately the drivers will still push and its up to the race directors and stewards to be consistent with their application of them
But that's wrong. We need to know what the rules are. When you want football, you know how far players are allowed to go in a tackle. Yes, players/drivers will always push those rules, but the actual code is public.
Eh as a football fan its not really clear
they still fuck it up from rules
Its mostly clear. It varies a bit between competions on how much context is allowed.
Personally it aint
people get sent of for shit and then the cards recinded all the time
And sometimes refs decide not to enforce anything and it goes to shit
were pleading for clarity in football
clarify what the boundaries are
Specifically for offside
thats ripe atm
I mean. Studs up = no. Two foot = no
Its not enforced well
Look up keita on chalobah
But that's a separate matter. There's at least clarity on what should be fucking enforced
If you don't even have a standard to start with how can you expect clarity
Or consistency
fucking hell Vettel mate
☣️
Dammit 😔
bruh
Hulkenberg P1
Magnussen P2
Hulk probably DNF first lap considering brand new cars and he has zero laps in it compared to everyone else on the grid already 300 bahrain laps ahead
P4. Hulk doesn't get podiums.
^
Missed this but bright side is Ricciardo will be racing
🇦🇺 good luck Ric. No idea what to think of the McLaren car atm

And it begins
We’ve become all to used to having pages and pages of documents explaining track limits ahead of each event, but F1’s new race director has delivered a mic-drop ahead of the Bahrain Grand Prix. Niels Wittich, who will share FIA race director duties with Eduardo Freitas this season, has given a clear instruction that the race track is defined by ...
never doubt Hamilton
Incredibly, Lewis Hamilton, Mercedes F1 driver got away with extending track limits a total of twenty-nine times... should stewards investigate... #shorts
