Help me understand what I'm doing wrong

I started playing as a MM Hunter a couple of weeks ago, and I'm still struggling to understand how I can improve my DPS.

I've been taking part in raids with my guild and I can´t output as much DPS as the average in those raids. I know my ilvl is still low (260) in comparison with my guildmates, but still, I should be seeing bigger numbers.

I'm following wowhead's guide on the talents, the build and the rotation, and also looking at top MM Hunter players' rotations to understand what to do. But still, no joy.

I need help understanding what I could improve in my rotation to increase my damage output.

Ok this will be long so bear with me. One thing at a time, let's look at your vorasius hc kill. To my surprise i start seeing your opener and casts and there is no trueshot, confirmed by buffs and no cast of chakram in the 20s after pull and a rotation with a few steady shots during that time, all of this happening with heroism on pull so ofc you screwed up your dmg from the start. You missed using your big damage cooldown with a lust on pull, that's a no no.

Let's continue. Lot's of missed precise shot buffed arcane shots that could have been shot. Specially after a rapid fire you tend to always forget to press it. These are just a few examples. I stopped screenshoting cause there is no point. It's super important as stated in guide. Also sometimes a few random arcanes here and there, these ones without being buffed, those cost extra and do little damage so avoid that

LOTS of downtime,the worst one was this part, you stopped at 1:37, then only press volley, i guess you had to move cause you pressed cheetah and at 1:44-45 you begin your first trueshot (could have been second one but oh well you missed that one xD). A major rule for dps is ABC-Always Be Casting, your rapid fire and steady shota can be used while moving.

Next the (first) Trueshot. If you checked guides and videos regarding marksmanship (Azor vid in mm faq channel)you should have realized that the spec is all about maximizing your trueshot damage. Let's check what you did wrong.

So you activate trueshot followed by an immediate chakram and a puzzle box. All wrong. Since most of our damage comes from trueshot windows you want to be with all buffs available to you before you enter trueshot. You need to treat every trueshot window as an opener

Puzzle box is always ALWAYS one of the casts before trueshot, you don't want to spend your precious rare trueshot time casting anything other than your major damaging abilities. But that is only one of the things you missed. Prior to entering trueshot, you had bulletstorm buff, given to you by an earlier rapid fire, but you had cast that rapid fire way too early cause as soon as you activated trueshot the bulletstorm was almost gone. Basically all together you casted a non dmg ability during trueshot wasting 2 sec (puzzlebox) and while in trueshot you missed an important crit and crit dmg buff in bulletstorm.... Ouch

The setting up for trueshot is of utmost importance so i suggest you study that opener and do it religiously before every trueshot cast

Looking at one of your chimaerus the issues are the same specially with trueshot windows, the mistakes are the sames. On opener you did chakram and puzzle box wasting the chance to shoot at least two very powerful aimed shots in trueshot

And same thing at around 2min with trueshot, chakram, a rapid fire and then puzzle box, wasting AGAIN secs in your trueshot...

Using chakram that early in trueshot is also a nono. Chakram gives you a free aimed shot so you want to use as late as possible, preferably when low of focus or without aimed shot charges while inside trueshot.

And then it's more of the same: sometimes double arcane, sometimes also a few wild double hunters marks, a few missed shots of arcanes buffed by precise shots, low cast per minute....

Things to fix:
1)Fix your opener, and do it whenever you are about to enter trueshot, RELIGIOUSLY!
2) Don't cast anything other than aimed shot arcane shot while inside trueshot, and rapid fire when bullettstorm is about to drop.
3) always spend ALL precise shots
4) cast while moving, and learn fights so you can preposition better and antecipate movement.

This is really helpful! In hindsight, you are 100% right about the trueshot missed time with the puzzle, and now I feel really dumb lol

But I appreciate it a lot! I'll practice my opener and rotation, and pay close attention to the fight stage to try and set up a good trueshot

For mm if you screw ts window it's gg most of the times xD

Bullettstorm buff is important cause it gives you more crit and crit dmg, which translates into more powerful aimed shots, i would say for movement: - if you have to move big distances relly on steady shots and possibly rapid fire (the latter to prepare for the next aimed shots when you can stay still)

• if you just need to do small dodging or little movement, learn to aimed shot and then move as soon as you arcane

But mostly steady
