The mountain pass has a point of no return. It’s when you decide to let the gith crèche cleanse you of your parasite.
Then it picks a route to act 2 and the grymforge quests that lead to act 2 are auto-resolved
And vice versa
You can still travel to the area you didn’t choose but some story beats have been resolved for you then.
