Hoping to improve my damage

Hi, I feel like I'm underperforming for my gear level, and am trying to figure out how to get better. Specifically I'm looking at pull 30 here: https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/LPGnqVvkmQxdCBNp#fight=32&type=summary&cutoff=15

Disclaimers:
I'm 16th to die, so I put the cutoff at 15
I've already replaced my leg enchant (I think I put the wrong armor patch on by accident) and stocked up on rank 3 rockets
I don't have the raz bow on this character
I don't have a monk in raid an nothing I can do about it
I'm full single target and on the boss, and part of my perception might be by comparing to people on ads?

Things I've looked at:
Casts active time is 99.7%, which means I don't think it's inactivity
Frenzy/Thrill of the hunt is at 98.72, which seems decent enough
The wowanalyzer report, but I have trouble figuring out useful feedback from it. For example, it says I should cast cobra shot more, but the guide has cobra shot as literally the last priority.

Yeah, but I'm looking at comparable BM hunters and want to make sure I doing the best that's realistic for me to do

Yeah, you're absolutely right. I'll practice that. It is an almost 8 minute pull though, so I wouldn't expect it to have an outsized effect on the overall. I'm not sure if fixing that will bring me in line of where I should be.

Yeah itll be an improvement but without bow and a monk and with a bad lust timing for that boss theres not much more you can do personally except focus on these types of things

you arent doing staff so should be relatively easy to be consistent every pull

Literally tells you what to do, you are not casting dire beast enough and your not using cobra shot to generate more kill commands

Keep frenzy up and spam kill command when you have nothing to do use cobra shot to reduce cooldown of kill command so you can hit more and don't forget dire beast 18/24 possible casts will add good damage if you do both

You can be optimal on pull by prestacking 4 dire before raid/on trash or if it looks like you are going to wipe just die with some dire pack stacks

Also use your puzzle with death chakram not pre pull

But that would require not casting something else to cast cobra shot instead, and cobra shot is the very lowest priority. That's what I don't understand. While I was alive I had an active time of 99.7, so I don't think there's much downtime I could put them in, it would have to take priority over other casts. Same with dire beast too except second to last. It feels like there's something I'm just not understanding.

Thanks for the info about the dire beast stacks and the puzzle with death chakram. I might not have realized I was doing that wrong

Crap. You're right, I forgot to swap out gems

you will have time for cobra's rotation would look something like BS,BS,KC,BW,BS etc then once you got 3 frenzy flowing probably something like BS KC KC COBRA KC BS KC COBRA etc - sometimes 2 cobra then KC just because your active doesn't mean you are doing the correct rotation

cobra is important to get more kill commands, more kill commands = higher dps

eg

basically if you have 3 stacks frenzy and 1 stack of barbed, no KC stacks should be filling with cobra

also 18 out of 24 possible dire beast casts, getting to 5 stacks = more kill commands so make sure you are using it on CD you have to just keep mashing keys fast lol practice on a dummy

then go to raid

also not sure where you got 99.7 from your log says you had 10.97% downtime?

its probably better to analyse how to improve your dps on a fight you didnt die on also btw

also why are you taking misdirection?

doesn't really do anything on BM as your damage comes from pet

not sure it works very well but on wowanalyzer there was toggle for "adjust stats for fight downtime" seems to exclude death

Hmm, I was looking at my latest terros kill: https://wowanalyzer.com/report/c1P8DqhK9kgjMx2Z/44-Mythic+Terros+-+Kill+(5:05)/Rendonsmugg/standard/overview it still has some of the same problems i.e. bad opener and dire beast, but it also is complaining that I used barbed shot 8 times when I should have used cobra shot. But I didn't think that cobra shot was ever a higher priority than barbed shot?

On that terros pull, it might mean you were casting barbed shot slightly early when you could have fit in another global before it. i.e refreshing on 3 seconds instead of 1.

Hey Zaridey! About the screenshot of the info you provided? Is this the rotation used for Raids only? Or is this just an opening rotation which would phase to another rotation after a certain period

its just the single target opener. https://www.icy-veins.com/wow/beast-mastery-hunter-pve-dps-rotation-cooldowns-abilities has all the information for the general rotation and the single target/aoe openers
