There’s a lot of context missing in this data. Doesn’t factor in raw player numbers which are significantly up since, you guessed it, another key factor in the pandemic.

The data also does not support the common community opinion that 3.13 was peak PoE. It’s in the bottom half of retention and, by the narrative doomers using this chart are trying to push, is thus a bottom half league.

All this chart shows is that retention is trending downwards with time consistently.

Covid changed a lot in consumer behaviour. It’s difficult to look at data and just assume normal behavioural trends.

What does this tell you? 2 things:

1. Retention trends downward.
2. Player count trends upward.

Maybe the 2 are related in that PoE attracted a lot more casual gamers/new gamers over the pandemic and these gamers just inherently are less loyal to one game and more variety gamers.

I doubt Chris or GGG are concerned at all about the retention figures posted in a vacuum. They need 20k concurrent players to break even, they make 50mio in profits per year. GGG is doing pretty well.

So you start with a +1 all base which is a lot of alt spamming and then imprint to be safe on the regal

get it to rare with +1 all only or a good spare prefix

multimod, pre cant change, cant roll attack

then harvest add remove fire

100% adds fire gems
