#Consistent authentication fail since shortly after 2v2 update

I have been unable to log into the game properly since the morning after the 2v2 update dropped. It always gets stuck on "Authenticating User", after which it fails and I land in game anyway, with all the leaderboards missing and blank ranked options. A very important piece of info here is that I have a PiHole (a Raspberry Pi configured to yoink trackers and ads before they hit any of my devices) hooked up to my local wifi network. I figured something about the servers had changed and that I just needed to troubleshoot it. After finally having a chance to test this more thoroughly, I have tried:

Alternate DNS options (1.1.1.1, 8.8.8.8, 1.0.0.1)
Whitelisting EVERY unity-related entry that shows up in my PiHole logs
Completely disabling the PiHole before booting up the game
Using Ethernet without a proper over-the-air wifi connection to skip the PiHole, just in case
5g vs non-5g wifi options

The only thing that has worked so far was connecting my PC to my phone's hotspot, which of course is unbearably slow and I don't want to imagine what ping is going to be like if I get host with my own being 300ms by default. At this point, I don't think the PiHole is responsible for the issues due to the game still not working even after fully disabling it. Notably, custom lobbies have worked the whole time; only ranked is missing.

I honestly don't expect much of a solution here, but if anything about the server protocol or how authentication works was changed, knowing that might help me find a solution so I can just play the game again earthboringbeetle

@waxen smelt Try revalidating integrity of game filesmaybe

#

Idk if that would do anything

#

And also try deleting everything contained in your Player.log folder

waxen smelt
#

alright, gonna try both and get back to you.

alpine dust
#

I doubt it'll work

#

The game is just using default unity authentication, so i'm not sure if they support that or not...

waxen smelt
#

sorry, where's that player log located? Just went through all the local files and didn't see it.

#

verifying files worked just fine

Alternatively, search %appdata% in your windows search bar which will open a folder. Go backwards one folder to LocalLow, then BugFightStudio/Beetleball

#

But yeah as far as troubleshooting goes, the game is using Unity Authentication with Steam Sign in

#

Have you tried using a VPN?

#

Can you also send me the Player.log file after it fails to sign in

waxen smelt
#

I haven't, mainly just because I don't have one

#

if you have recommendations I would be more than willing to try one

#

anything for beetleball

alpine dust
#

@waxen smelt Can you try uninstalling and reinstalling as well

#

And excluding it from the firewall and stuff

waxen smelt
#

that was one of the first things I tried, and it should be out of firewall but I ran steam as admin just in case

Can you type run in windows search

#

Then enter ncpa.cpl

#

Then locate the network adapter that youre using

#

Right-click, properties

#

Find Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)

#

Uncheck it, press ok, restart the game and then run the game
