Oil Beetle – Meloe
Based on real oil beetles that leak toxic oil, this beetle is a slow, tanky defender meant to control space and punish anyone who gets too close.
Overview: Oil System
A 4-bar Oil Meter replaces the offball bar.
Oil builds over time while grounded and faster near enemies or the ball.
Abilities use oil.
Oil Effects:

Normal movement, 1x headbutt
1 Bar:
Slightly heavier, 1.1x headbutt
Enemies that touch you get slowed
2 Bars:
Heavy, 1.25x headbutt
Enemies touching you take small damage over time and jump lower
3Bars:
Very heavy, hard to knock back
1.4x headbutt
Small slow aura around you
4 Bars (Full):
1.6x headbbutt
Goliath level knockback taken
Slamming the ground leaves oil puddles
Oil drains when you stay in the air too long.
Abilities
Offball: Blister Spray
Sprays toxic oil forward.
Tap: uses 1 lebel
Short spray that slows enemies and deals light damage over time
Hold:
Charges up to 3 levels, using more oil
1 Charge: Small slow
2 Charges: Strong slow + lower jump
3 Charges: Enemy is fully coated in oil, making movement slippery
If it hits the ball, the ball becomes harder to control and moves heavier
Onball: Cantharidin Crush
Coats the ball in oil before shooting.

Ball bursts oil on impact, slowing and briefly stunning nearby enemies
Gold ball can’t be coated.
Trying to do it just causes a small oil burst around you.
PASSIVE:
Team firefly fire carries on in the oil and stays lit for 7 seconds and during this time any gold ball in the fire will break into 3 pieces if in the fire for more than 2.4 seconds
