Doing so helps us keep up with new ideas by avoiding things that are already in the game, already planned, or are already suggested.
- If you found a bug, please remake your post in #1294202906265915484 and let us know in here when you've done that.
- If you are requesting the game to be added to another platform please go to #1378879695902478336 message and post in here so we know you saw it.
I agree that it would be good to change the name, especially as the drunks have are soda drunks with no mention of alcohol - so it would be in keeping with the game to similarly be more tame with the naming of perverts
Thank you for bringing that up. I assume most people wouldn't think twice about it but it's good to note and be sensitive too! Great suggestion
If someone is taking unsolicited and unwanted pictures of you in a bathing suit for gross purposes, why would that be a "paparazzi" and not a "pervert?" What they're doing is sexual and illegal in nature, not snapping photos of celebrities. It'd be better to just have an option to remove them entirely rather than attempting to rename them to downplay the severity of what they're doing.
In this case, I don’t believe the intent is to try and downplay the severity of the NPC’s virtual actions. Moreso to try and avoid triggers for people who may have been victimized by people like this.
They’ve also pointed to the Dev’s decision to specify the drunk NPCs as ‘Soda drunk’, which is assumedly to keep in line with the PG13 nature of the game.
Paparazzi are constantly taking pictures of celebrities in bathing suits and such. It's not too far off. But yes, my primary concern is that this can absolutely be a trigger. The name was just an example of an alternative.
I understand that, however, renaming them does downplay what they're doing by reframing their actions as "haha silly paparazzi" rather than a serious and heinous crime. Personally, I'd prefer they not exist at all in the game as I have also suffered from this kind of thing irl, but if they have to exist I'd rather the reality of what they're doing be evident
Valid. If we can have the option to toggle it off, I'd be fine with that.
And if the reframing/renaming of the NPC were relegated to a setting that the player can choose to toggle
Everyone wins
I would prefer the NPCs themselves be togglebale entirely
(not just for the triggering bit but because they can be hard to spot or track down and finding them is very annoying)
There was a thread here not long ago where someone was personally offended by the caseoh NPC for reasons
Makes me think MOST special npcs should be toggleable entirely
I think some of them add a nice bit of challenge to the game especially if you've optimized your park to the point where your staff are doing most if not all of the work, but I generally agree
From a purely gameplay perspective I love all the NPCs and want even more variety tbh
But yeah I’ve had my eyes opened to a whole lot of sensitivities new to me
Paparazzi suck to spot, should have a new walk cycle
There's another suggestion in this forum to make them easier to identify. Be sure to give it a thumbs up
Hell no. I don't like the idea. Would you also like to change cheater to unemployed water park enjoyer so it won't trigger anyone?
That's so insensitive and shows how little you get it. This may be one of those instances of if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all.
What am i supposed to get? Those people take OBVIOUSLY nonconsensual photos, scaring the hell out of customers. Those should be called perverts and not normalized as paparazzi. Would you like for such "paparazzi" or "unauthorized media" take your pictures in water park or in a toilet? It looks like you're defending perverts.
Maybe even you're one of them and got triggered.
Do you get what the word triggered means? It doesn't mean getting pissed and mad in this instance. In this instance it means causing a person discomfort as it may remind them of a time in which they were victimized by a pervert/individual who took their picture without consent. Some people have to unfortunately go through that trauma and shouldn't have to be reminded of it in a game.
"experiencing a strong emotional reaction of fear, shock, anger, or worry, especially because you are made to remember something bad that has happened in the past" so yeah, being angry or mad is part of being triggered. And totally act of taking unwanted photo wouldn't be a problem, problem is in the name. Just like people with aquaphobia and thalassophobia will suddenly be ok when you change word water into colorless tea. You know how people with arachnophobia fear spiders? You just discovered that they don't fear those creatures, they fear name spider. You discovered that changing name spider to, for example, teddy bear, will cure arachnophobia. Congrats.
Alright, now that we're educating ourselves, look up cognitive reframing
Yeah I'm not going in circles on this one. End of the day, it's up to the devs and I provided my feedback.
You're too hung up on naming to notice that substance is the problem. You would have to remove that mechanic altogether, not just change the name. And remove anything that might invoke fear or other negative feeling, like swimming pools. It's time to accept that not every game can be played by everyone. Nor will one game for all players ever exist.
Read the rest of the thread....
Think before you post. Like one guy said, option to toggle off those guests events would be better than just renaming them. Just like in games with arachnophobia, where they don't change the name, they change whole spider to not look like a spider.
And I mentioned I agree...
To just kind of come in here and INSIST that the person whose saying what they believe will make them feel more comfortable with a game is wrong and should think more before they post is strange
Like would a setting that changes the name of an NPC to something different (completely optional btw) change your experience with the game AT ALL?
I fail to see how it could.
The option to toggle the appearance of the NPC is also a good idea, we all agree with that.
They? Op didn't mentioned in a post that it's about them. Op said "this could be a trigger for some people." some people, not "im uncomfortable with it"
Does it matter? They could have experienced something traumatic and believe that it would help them, or they could know people that have experienced things similar.
Also, answer this question before you say anything else please.
Which question? How does npc name change experience? It doesn't. It just makes being a pervert a nonissue. After all, it's just paparazzi. And btw, i got kicked in a gut in a waterpark. I don't know if it's traumatic tho. And i have been a victim of domestic abuse from my mother. But i don't know if i should be triggered by in game violence or not. Or if i was, i wouldn't know if calling hitting someone with a baseball bat, bonking, would make any difference. But if you believe that changing name is enough for trauma, go ahead, bask yourself in the bliss of ignorance.
I'm sorry to hear you've been abused by your mother. That's rough, you didn't deserve that, and I hope you don't think it's ok that it happened to you.
You can move on from things that have happened to you mentally, but sometimes they stick with us and the emotions and scars from that event will rear their ugly head at the mear sight of something that reminds us of it.
And even if for a moment, we can relive the traumatic event,
If someone says a simple name change and reframing of a character might help that not happen to them, who are you to tell them they're wrong?
Do not conflate your own ways ways of dealing with trauma with others'
I do hope you can heal from what happened to you.
Phil Collins made a song with title that perfectly represents what i think about my past. That song is in gta 5, i associate it with Michael De Santa because i remember it playing in his cutscenes or whatever. And if there are scars, i just wouldn't know how to recognize them. "If someone says a simple name change and reframing of a character might help that not happen to them, who are you to tell them they're wrong?" She is telling others how they would deal with trauma, what triggers their fear. She started telling. I forgot about it but now i remember, i fear hornets, intensly, those big things not wasps. She's telling that chaning name is enough.
Is the song "no son of mine"?
Also, let's do an exercise. Let's pretend that the OP framed this post specifically as someone whose been a victim of SA.
Does this change your outlook on it at all? Do you still feel like she's wrong for saying a name change would help her?
THe song is "I Don't Care Anymore" and i seriously doubt that any victim of sa or anyone with any phobia would not be affected, after just changing name. We can pretend all we want, but reality is what it is. And it's second time someone demands game to be changed on behalf of someone. First one was changing body types, because supposedly caseoh easter egg will hurt someone, someone like me XD
Again, you can't just say "this is the reality, everyone thinks and copes like I do"
Argument has gone on way too long even though I love to argue 💀
"Yeah, changing the name will totally change everything, the action can stay the same" ~people like you It's about trigger, what triggers the response, not about coping.
