Something worth mentioning! The .mov files in the game can be played with the quicktime player! So the installed dependency aswell as the data files themselfs are in a working order!

I play all my Macromedia/Quicktime games in a Windows 98SE/XP VM, they just don't work properly on modern Windows.

You could try a Wrapper with QuickTime support like Elisha's DxWrapper

There should be a wiki on the GitHub page, but I would start with Dd7to9, DX9 was not implemented until version 11 of Director, for setting up, check the wiki

omg web! i have great news! so i admit, i used chatgpt (i'm not a fan of using it, as it makes me not understand whati'm doing more and more, but when i'm really stuck i use it)
tried to use teh wrapper, but it couldn't do the proper 8bit color, evne when using the config line correctly

gpt suggested to convert the .mov files, but that didn't help either ofc

but it suggested to try some different versions of quicktime, i didn't tried that and went through a few, 6.5.2 or QuickTime 7.1–7.6

first one no dice, so i went to 7.6.9 b/c it's the latest verion of 7.6 (i did used 7.7x only in the past)

and i played the .mov and it said to remap the extension and like.. it worked! like all the .mov's seme to work! the color isn't as good but i have to force it to 8bit but that's alr imo

but i legit can't believe it
