#Different waiting queues for different game modes

this is probably going to happen eventually, when there's more people playing the game
they have more choice because there are more players
I realise this will probably be implemented anyway, but I actually disagree with this since it means people are kind of forced to play maps or modes other than the ones they're used to and it's really grown on me that it makes the game more fun by taking that choice away from you and making it so that you have to cope with modes or maps you didn't want to play.
I think only the modes should be separated
and maps will keep being randomized
but on the other hand people get tilted very fast when playing the same mode they hate everytime and they have no motivation to play anymore
True, but I think right now the game rotates pretty well between modes, and it's rare to get 2 of the same one in a row from my experience.
If not, they should (or could) programme that in as a feature.
games fill up in 20-30 seconds at peak time, if you stagger them it should be fine, just have it automatically go back to one queue if x% games in y time are not filled, then turn back on when they are
A similar effect could be accomplished by having waiting players set their preferences (if they have any) and bias the random choices towards the preferences.
A player's preferences would probably have to be ignored if a game comes up ~twice that meets some or all of their preferences but they don't join it, just to keep people from afking and influencing the games
bruh just add rotation categories like in territorial io
preferences with a single queue just lead to the most popular modes/maps coming up until players get sick of them, those who don"t like the popular settings come back less often and variety dies down until even those who like those settings no longer do.
3 queues with random maps would be great, that way players can just jump into their favourite game at the time.
Why would players choose preferences for things that they don't like playing anymore? That's a weird argument against preferences.
people get sick of settings -> they pick different preferences lmao
I think you might have also misunderstood how much I suggested for the random choices to be biased. I don't think it would be helpful for the queue to be entirely based on waiting players' preferences. If 100% of waiting players have exactly the same preferences, then yeah, maybe a lobby with those settings might show up twice in a row. Outside of that, I don't think even 90% of waiting players should influence any more than 50% of the lobbies. It would be silly to make it impossible for lobbies to feature certain settings.
please yes
According to the roadmap this is coming for v27 or later #🗺︱roadmap message
this should be given more priority than v26 features tbh
