There would be 2 types of nuclear submarines, one type that could act as a sam launcher that could move a bit like warships and the other type would act as a missile silo that should be selected to send only hydrogen bombs and atomic bombs
They would both be invisible to other players except when they were in action for 5-10 seconds. They could be destroyed with a warship when they are in action or with a missile that would fall on them at any time.
It could sink warships very easily without being detected. This last point would perhaps be another type of submarine.

I think Submarines are supposed to be underwater and exist firstly to destroy warships.

deptch charges are used by destroyers mainly; or light cruisers. The ships in the game are too slow for it to actually be feasible to respond to a submarine attack

functionally all that submarines would do if they were very effective against warships is make islands stronger
