(460, 720) -> Western Australia
(965, 340) -> Northern Territory
(920, 915) -> South Australia
(1435, 1220) -> Victoria
(1490, 555) -> Queensland
(1605, 1025) -> New South Wales
(1595, 1380) -> Tasmania
This is how the terrain looks in game
Flag of New South Wales
Flag of Northern Territory
Flag of Queensland
Flag of South Australia
Flag of Tasmania
Flag of Victoria
Flag of Western Australia
All 7 nations with their flags in game
Would this be a small, medium or large map by the new update's standards?
how do you do this?
Download the game's files from github, add your grayscale map and join in on singleplayer
i dont have a clue on coding xd
also idk where the github file is
so i just paste my map in, load the game up on my computer (not in browser) and play singleplayer?
You just need to import the github project, and from then on just watch the video about adding new maps.
my brain doesnt work well when it comes to coding
xd
Well, i think this Australia map is pretty much ready
@cosmic turret Is there any chance of this Australia map getting into the next version of the game?
Did Evan say anth?
Honestly it should
Idk if next update or not
I think if you publish it it will most likely get added in the next update
Lemme check
@rain orchid
You mean making a PR?
Me too lol. I'll figure it out
maybe 😅 i have 0 experience
you can compare it with other PRs
What do i do now?
hmm you dont have access to the #🔧┃development channel
ig go DM Kiwii, he'll help you more than me
tell him you want to contribute to the game and already finished the Australia map (make sure the PR is ready)
maybe he'll redirect you to Evan himself
Nikola123, from a cursory glance it looks like you have all the files I would expect to see. Have you run a local dev build to confirm it's all working?
I'd recommend doing so (or doing again) taking screenshots of the Map/thumbnail in the UI, and play a single player game all the way through to the win message to confirm no issues
Some screenshots during the game too
Add those to the comments on the PT
PR*
Once you PR is accepted (or am exception made, as sometimes is) you'll be given the contributor role and have access to Dev and Meta as a participant
I uploaded all of the screenshot on the PR's page.
👍
When I get home I'll test it myself and see if I have any feedback, if not I'll indicate I've reviewed it on GitHub and flag to Evan. He may get to it before then, but if not
@exotic bison alright man, I've tested your map in game, and I think people are really going to like this map. Especially the ones who like to snowball up and inflict a bruising beat down of an endgame.
Evan mentioned wanting to have the base png colorized like the rest, but that shouldn't even change the binaries. I've a PowerShell script to run that conversion if you're on windows, or can run it for you and just send you the colorized file
I really oughta rewrite it and put it in the scripts folder soon
So, i just need to edit the PR to add the colorised file?
yea, if you update the branch this PR is from it will update the PR
Ok, could you send me the colorised image if you've ran the script?
there you go mate, just want to run it through the terrainMapGen to make sure the binaries didn't show as changed
yea I think people are going to have a good time with this one
I think the colourised map is just the thumbnail with the blue water instead of transparent
I also recolored the large global map for starting from, and the old map files, it any subsequent edits to the base files easier to assess. Slightly more yellow tinted than what's seen in game
🤷♂️
I didn't think it was necessary but I think evan wants to keep the core files cohesive and consistent
makes it easier to tell at a glance if something has gone wrong along the wau
script is also potentially a good way to convert over heightmaps that arent from the big greyscaled earth to see how they are going to be interpreted and then make manual corrections by hand or a similar script
its avialable here #1350917721444847639 message
but again currently requires windows System resources
Ok, i think i added the coloured image correctly
you did as far as I can tell
commented on your PR indicated I approved it (which doesn't actually do anything) and let evan know I thought it was ready to merge
Not sure when it will be on dev, and he may hold it back from prod until V0.21, but good work 👍
why does the mountains look so yellow?
because the input image has to retain the blue levels expected by terrainMapGenerator. Red and Green levels get set as they would in the game, but the blue levels don't. The thumbnail generation script within the terrainMapGenerator does set everything as it will appear in game.
Because most of the yellow part isn't mountains, but rather steep
Is it possible to add the ACT (Australian Capital Territory)?
It is but i think that it'll get too crowded with nations in that part of the map. In that corner there already are New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania
Fair enough.
Yea I almost suggested adding another Nation to the Northwest corner.
