im trying to contact EA help
SporeFixOnline isn't always the solution
yes maybe you should go around and look at steam threads that won't help you for two hours OP, that would be way more convenient than installing one file.
SporeFixOnline is only even able to change anything if you are using a modded copy of EA Desktop Spore, or if you're on Disk Spore, or if you downgraded Steam Spore.
(It just updates the client's SSL certificates to that of the Oct2024 patch)
if you are using a modded copy of EA Desktop Spore
I logged in with ea
hmmmm
they're saying they logged in with their EA account
no indication they're using mods, no indication they're on EA Desktop Spore (because you'd always be logging in with your EA account regardless of platform), nothing.
You're the reason why I was stuck
I like how your (note; replying to a removed message where someone promoted their shady guide) guide doesn't mention the actual most likely problem, and isn't even a guide.
Do yourself a favour and stay away from shady Steam guides; just follow #1290776608470204477.
Cleaned all of that up~ yikes. Also yes, absolutely stay away from shady Steam guides
I had this problem, I went around in circles with ea for hours, they wanted me to show them a email receipt from 9 years ago to prove i owned the game and only then would they connect my spore (wich was steam) to the ea servers. My work around was that I have gamepass ultimate, and Spore is in the EA pass, and I was able to dowload spore on the EA app and turn my ea account into a Spore account via Spore through EA, then i just uninstalled it, went back to spore on Steam, (where i own it and orginally had the cant connect problem) logged in with the account I made on the EA version of Spore, and i was good to go, without buying spore all over again.
@echo flint
i think its because Spore.com doesn't exsist anymore, and everything is through EA now. Either way this was how I did it and I was sturggling for a while until I did this so if this is what did it for me then there prob isnt another way, id hurry before they take spore off the ea pass
(spore.com does exist)
(...okay, www.spore.com exists, but just spore.com with no www. prefix doesn't work afaik)
I've had a physical copy of Spore for like 16 years, already had it transferred to EA and everything and it still gave me hell.
then i have no idea why old spore account dont work, or maybe i just had the wrong info, either way, i had to go this route to get online features
You need to actually own Spore on your EA account for it to work, even with an old account.
And of course there's the possibility that somehow your account doesn't have the correct entitlements regardless if something goes wrong, which has happened in the past with EA Support. I don't think it does anymore at least?
(I should add, Steam Spore works fine for registering or logging in once you own Spore on your EA account. You don't be need EA Desktop Spore installed, which is good because it kinda is the worst version of the game that there is-)
damn, probably why im able to log in, you think once its off the game pass the probelm would persist again until i fix the problem the official way?
ea pass*
Very surprised it works with EA Play tbh
But yeah, once it's no longer on your account, you can't login or share creations because you'd lack the entitlements
i play on steam, but i fixed the problem by making an account on the ea play version of the game, once i made an account and i was able to log in on steam, i uninstalled it from ea and continued to play from steam
my best guess is that launching the ea-play version made ea's servers temporarily give you the entitlement or something, I have no clue
(i need to sleep too)
The EA Play is a bit of a weird case, I think EA was trying to get it working at one point, but I'm not sure if it does and the official answer last I heard is that online features are not officially supported at this time unless you specifically buy the game
It's theoretically possible that it might be working now, but certainly not a guaranteed thing
