#Lack of priority targeting/ ai brain

This is definitely a problem.
Another issue with this I have had is them not targeting the closest/most logical enemy. I had a group of 30 bombers and target boxed 2 frigates, which should have been an easy sweep, but they all flew right past the first frigate and didn't shoot until they got in range of the second one. This meant that the first frigate was able to lay into my bomber formation while they just flew past, killing 5+ bombers in what should have been an easy 2 kills-0 losses.
Ive also noticed that if you have a mixed fleet of different ships that they wont target what they are good against. For instance I have a small detachment of Suppression frigates and Torpedo frigates. Sent them against a group of Dominance fighters and an Assault frigate. For some reason all of them decided to target the dominance fighters instead of splitting what they were firing at. I vaguelly remember in past games they would auto target beneficial enemies unless directed to focus fire
I'd like to add that the units ought to pick targets that suit them; instead of just randomly selecting targets.
So you have fighters prioritise other strike craft instead of going after the frigates, for instance.
Exactly what I was trying to say but I word vomited. I should not have to watch as my Suppression frigates try to engage a destroyer when there a fighters all around them
