So you've been averaging over 16 hours a day every day since witch queen launch? Doubt
if you have a computer overall, it has a supported emulator and maybe need a VPN
i'm a no lifer, 5am until 2 in the morning
heavily doubt your doubts on my hours
usually from*
I'm a no lifer too, I averaged about 110 hours a week on the alpha. You haven't spent 2/3 of the past 3 years playing Destiny though
You probably have 2k hours and misread it
If not, send proof
lemme check
turns out yes i did, almost 3k hours though
Did we ever learn what the black garden is? maybe it’s a dumb question but I stopped playing destiny after witch queen
Not strictly speaking. There's a lot of speculation as to if it's the "garden" from the creation myth the winnower told us about in Shadowkeep, but it's still somewhat up for debate.
We do know that the Heart of the Black Garden was the Witnesses’ attempt to create a replacement for the Veil
@hoary willow I remember actually buying destiny 2. I've still got the disc as well
Ah that’s really interesting thank you
Spent $100 on the deluxe edition for them to make it free
I still have the taken king disc for ps3 lmao
I only bought a ps4 for d2 and my friends were like so ahead of me and were doing many stuff I wasn’t really hooked on the whole red war and ghaul taking the light and stuff but it was nice
I got an old copy
For me destiny 2 became good with forsaken you guys feel me like forsaken was what taken king was back for d1
Oh my god dude that’s so cool damn I miss playing d1 those were the days I almost tear up seeing this
Forsaken was what saved D2, yeah
And you know what is interesting in rising we do see the name eliksni brought up a lot (I know it’s the fallens like original name)but it’s nice because in d2 we saw them and we were like what are those Frankenstein looking fallen
@karmic zodiac what class did you play mostly back then?
Warlock, still a warlock
Eliksni was a term brought up in D1 as well.
This has been a source of controversy in DR. Because in D2 we've spent several years humanizing the Eliksni and learning hey they're not all bloodthirsty pirates, and then in DR mission like four has Zev say something horrible like "all they know is killing"
Anyone finish Attals story line quest? Did that Eliksni survivor die or no?
A rifle that shoots 3 burst arrows. Something about it seems cool
Do we have a weapon for the Satou clan?
Since izi is from niobe labs, Jotunn from rasmussen and Le Monarque from Meyrin, do we have one for Satou?
😔
Guessing he didnt huh
It's one of the character quests I like the most. Well worth doing.
Good plotline.
@sudden tide not yet
What I've seen all the character stories are worth doing. If you have said characters though. (I'm fine, I have all 12 available currently)
Attal's was one of my favorites so far
I need to get Attals proficiency up to continue it... surprising its not there with all those doing 3 adventures as her for a Gwynn
Izanagi is the Satou Tribe weapon. Niobe labs was just a black armory facility, not one of the families.
House Meyrin, Satou Tribe, Rasmussen Clan
Izanagi's Burden was owned by Yuki Satou
What artifacts do u run in the 3rd and fourth?
I genuinely do not know lol
I think the one that gives you a damage buff when you receive constant healing, because her passive does that a lot
By "one of my favorites" I was solely referring to her character quests, I don't have her particularly built out
Yeah
@wraith carbon my attal is t6 but not done her own artifacts yet as such. Enough for 50k so can run heroic to help those running gwynn gold tier
really? i didnt find any symbol related to satou in it.. just in le monarque and jotunn for their respectives
It has the Satou Tribe symbol on its barrel, the two fish.
The satou tribe symbols are the two fish and a fishhook
Question, ehat exactly is the role of The Speaker?
Only thing I can think of is that they serve as the direct line of communication with the Traveler
thx dot guy, but i was asking about the hook symbol that everyone knows, theres a forge weapon like that?
Historically, in the main timeline, the Speakers were humans who could hear the Traveler during the Golden Age, but after the Collapse there were very few, if even more than one, left, and their connection to the Traveler was damaged significantly to the point that most of them lost the ability to receive visions without the assistance of the specially crafted and iconic speaker mask.
In society, they serve as religious leaders and government heads for refugees in the aftermath of the Collapse, with the Speaker from Destiny 1 and 2 going on to become the 'head' of the government of the last city, the Consensus.
There's no exotic with the fishhook symbol on it, no! Izanagi's Burden is the only exotic associated with Satou :)
Ah so they acted as space popes
Why did the Speaker from D1 and D2 become the "head" tho?
For Rising I can understand why she's not a leader, since she's like 12 or something
😔
For the same reason anyone follows any religious leader. Faith. Faith in the Traveler became the dominant religious tradition in the aftermath of the Collapse, so naturally the space pope would be one of the key leadership figures of the City.
Attal: finds someone whos ideals run completely counter to her own (Gwynn)
also Attal: "You're my friend now. We're having soft tacos later! :D"
Ah, makes sense
after you fully complete the quest iirc the diary entry states what happened
i only claimed the leafs but it should be the one labeled "the kids" or something like that
@harsh parcel please not dinner and a show... (interaction between attal and gywnn in loading screens for activities)
I was half-referencing that interaction, in fact! I think the actual Gwynn quote is "Fine. But none of that dinner and a show nonsense."
idk where to ask this, so I'll just ask it here since it's kind of lore-related. Do y'all think we'll meet more of the main Destiny universe cast along the way? Such as Cayde, Zavala, Mara Sov, Saint-14, those guys. And how do you think will they be introduced?
it's pretty farfetched(plot wise) but I kind of just want to know y'alls thoughts
@harsh parcel tbf the food attal said sounds delicious lol
yes, probably zavala next. How they'll be introduced I couldn't tell you but they'll absolutely introduce them for anniversary events etc to bring in extra dough
@harsh parcel but the show.... unless it's a rock concert 😄 🤣
wolf is op
I dunno how Op wolf is but I do know I like how simple his kit is. Use slash untill enemy no die, if big enemry blast with blast and open fire
Ikora is already in the game, osiris is directly involved in her questline with a appearance from sagira and mentions of crota.
Cant exactly remember what quest its in, might be jolder's, but Shaxx is directly mentioned and referenced as a warlord
With the house of devils so prominent there is a good chance the battle of twilight gap or something of similar nature has not happened yet so saint-14 has not gained renouned infamy among the guardians and fallen however he may still exist.
Our only sources of awoken material at the moment are Umeko and skorri, little about skorri and Umeko is a reef awoken meaning she has little ties to that of the dreaming city and mara sov
If ikora is still running around and doing field missions good chance cayde and zavala are out there doing the same
One thing to add to this, Osiris is portrayed as well known as famous within literature among warlocks but there is no expressive mention of him being the warlock vanguard, if the vanguard even exists yet which further reinforces the twilight gap theory i had ^
The mention of Shaxx is Yannick bragging to Tan about dueling him once.
There may be other mentions, but that's the one I hear the most.
Vanguard explicitly does not exist yet. If you kill 50 Vex as Ikora you unlock a diary entry going over this.
Essentially, she receives a strange letter from Osiris...but, the main timeline Osiris, through the Vault of Glass, not DR's Osiris.
DR timeline Ikora found the idea that she's involved in government to that degree preposterous, but the idea's in her head now.
Beyond what Avonthes has said, the Speaker also became the head because the Traveler's influence was a uniting factor to human and lightbearer affairs.
The governing structure of the Last City was the Consensus: the 3 largest Democratically Elected Human Factions, and the Vangaurd Representatives of Each Cultural Class of Lightbearer. 3 Human Groups and 3 Lightbearer Groups. For the system to not come to endless Impasses, the Speaker was made the tiebreaking role, as who better than the voice of your city's god to break ties in Politics
Would be nice for the modern city era to return to this. Since the Red War it has been a full sprint into a military dictatorship, no human factions, and we are down to 2 active lightbearer vanguards as the sole remaining political figures (Ikora Rey & Crow)
I lost my mind when i saw Sagira
I would kill to see some actual factions in this game tbh
perhaps the reason there is no vanguard is because the iron lords never fell so there was no reason to create a new group of leaders to preside over the last city, however i still believe that there has been no twilight gap level event otherwise sagira and ophiuchus wouldve revelled in osiris's titles a little more when introducing him to ikora
Maybe Lakshimi can NOT get thrown under a bus. (I enjoyed that plotline but they did her dirty)
i just realised the other part, she gets a message from mainline osiris?, thats gotta have some implications
Yup, sure does.
Also, the Vanguard didn't exist until after the faction wars erupted in the city. City's barely a thought right now, so we're still a ways off from that sort of stuff. I can imagine the faction wars being an event in DR, though.
Wait, tf happened to Zavala?!
Do you have a summary or a picture of the osiris letter, unfortunately i cant find it anywhere online and the game is currently in maintenance
Sidenote, im not sure if its a nod but in ikora's diary there is a short story about her visiting a mans shop who makes ramen on the edge of the bazaar, might be a nod to caydes favourite spicy ramen shop
Have you not played Final Shape?
You can get a message from her as Wolf occasionally inviting them over to have ramen at that stand
the small details in the game are really good, especially the conversation with jolder about the nanites she had found
Neigh, haven't played since before strand was released
Think it was called season of the witch? The one with armor cosmetics based on the Reef's stuff
Oh yeah, forgot I can't swear here, anyways.
Did he die?
No, but he's no longer a lightbearer. Targe got killed by the witness
he almost turned eeeeviiiillll
DANGIT
Savathun getting the light kind of broke his faith, and then it continued on a downward spiral until he decided to dive headfirst into some darkness to learn the witness's origins
Targe saved him from the witness, but died in the process
And now he's lightless and probably bummed out that he got Targe killed?
But now he's like Osiris
A former lightbearer whose paracausal affinity helps with learning darkness
Oh, extremely
Yeesh
What's his affinity?
After Harrow I learned there's stuff other than the light and darkness that lets you do stuff
He uses stasis in the final cinematic
He asked Ikora to teach him how to use Stasis
So he's a Behemoth now, kind of
Much like Osiris they have to be a lot more careful with stasis and strand than us
If they screw up they die forever
You don't need to be a Lightbearer to use the darkness?
So they can still mess people up, but now play on hardcore
Pretty much
How exactly do you use the darkness? I know Lightbearers use their Ghosts like a wireless cable hooked up to the Traveler to get that good stuff
Does Zavala and Osiris use a relic now or something? Or do they not need it since they already got experience as Guardians?
Nope, Elsie isn't a lightbearer, nor is Eris
to be fair, eris was once a lightbearer too
Wait, didn't Elsie have that weird fish ghost thing in the trailer?
Darkness is kind of an ambient force like the light, but because it's based on consciousness instead of creation it's possible for mortals to learn how to use it
That's a Pouka, which is a weird fish thing native to Neptune that can unlock memories
It's not a darkness ghost
Well that soujds awesome, you can probably get an army of em then to help bolster their army
Ohhhhhhhh, that's* the thing she uses to tap into her past runs
Yup, precisely
Yeah darkness powers are more based on state of mind and there is a difference in how you control either darkness power
What's the diff tween the two?
She uses the pouka, which is new as of this "run", to remember stuff from the past loops
Stasis is about control, Strand is about going with the flow
Strand is also ridiculously dangerous
How so?
If you're not in the right headspace as you're using it it's liable to whiplash back and just delete you out of existence
Now, imagine Osiris, famous control freak, learning he has to let go of that headspace to be able to use space magic again
Stasis is control, stalwartness, integrity, mostly titan values ironically, and strand is more freedom, going with the flow
Similarly, if you're not in complete control with Stasis it can also whiplash back and freeze you, like it did with Eramis
So since Osiris is now apparently a behemoth in strand, I assume he was able to get himself together to do awesome space magic again, and officially disintegrate the retired in his space wizard title?
It's quite dangerous for non-lightbearers to learn these disciplines, but it's possible
he sadly hasnt really done much all things considered
He's extremely careful with it
and players complained he was pretty much just a helpess whiny baby in the campaign
Well to be fair he was not compatible with strand headspace wise, and he's on hardcore mode
lightfall kinda butchered portraying his character, however it did display how desperate he mightve been to gain some control over his life again with new powers that would let him do that
I too would get the guys that can respawn to get stuff done
What about afterwards, what happened to him then? Did they let him do cool wizard stuff and silence the haters?
He's been pretty background
Mostly just living with Saint
A ghost annoyed him recently
That's kind of it
no major storys or seasonal stuff that really involved him, there was a nice nod to his dreams of recolonizing other solar systems with saint-14
Did they say he was doing wizard stuff? Or imply he was doing some research/experiments with strand?
he was seen controlling it and i believe there might be messages or lore entries on it but i dont think hes been doing any action
Well hopefully in his next big role he gets to do something substantial
Oh what about Zavala tho? What's he been up to?
Again, most recent thing is that a guardian-less Ghost entered his house to chat with him and he found it very annoying
rotting in the tower
Recuperating from the trauma of all that happened in Final Shape
Fair nuff
Also very funny, how did the ghost annoy him?
She just showed up while he was in a private conversation to try to give input
Fully entered their house while invisible and then tried giving him advice out of nowhere
@wide zodiac there is new monarchy banners in the wolf pack area
Oh, there's faction decorations in the pack already? That's interesting.
I wonder if it's another weird Clotho thing.
@wraith carbon i will double check once servers are back. They could just be used assists from D1/D2
Very likely not to be taken at face value, yeah
But there's already an in-universe explanation for timeline breaking weirdness
But they're probably a bit preoccupied with heisting exotics for us to use in the DR timeline to bring some banners over
t
Yeah learning the darkness is really dangerous, the player guardian seemingly "unravelled" their atoms a few times whilst trying to learn strand, a human only gets to make that mistake once 😅
outbreak perfected, and my life is yours...
Do you think there will be any weird lore differences in the Eclipse Raid?
t
That is an extremely good question
Gjallarhorn. And ability to use it on any character.
Or Trespasser so I can dual wield them.
Dual trespasser would go so hard
@wraith carbon I was a part of the problem on D1 in crucible 😆
oooh i hope they add mindbenders
Sturm and Drang as dual wields is a common request
could just do some hive related stuff with eris
@wraith carbon I would run Strum but it does mean taking my precious Gjallarhorn off. Only time I do is to run a sword (and in December Praxic Blade)
I mean you could add the shotgun prior to its run inscription, seems like a regular human/awoken shotgun that just got some runes carved in by Hiraaks
Sadly however i believe scorn are far off from ever being added unless they do some weird shenanigans with fikrul or adjacent
Now each of the Titans, Hunters, and Warlocks has a famous figure who has lost their Ghost: Zavala, Eris Morn, and Osiris, forming a kind of symmetry.
The servers down?
Weekly maintenance.
@eager locust poor Cayde lost much more 😭
The FIRST thing I thought of when I saw pistols were akimbo here
Ah, ok, guess I'll play tomorrow then
Wait Eris Morn was a hunter?
2 hours time it be back up. Then need to do bounties and daily commission. Having a day off pinnacle activities 😆
A proud one at that
Oh yeah, technically he's in the list of famous hunter that lost their ghost, he just got domed soon after
Oh dope
@zinc pasture yep
Mida multi tool. So I can putt putt putt head shots as Tan
Jade Rabbit was present in Alpha and Beta but it wasn't very well liked.
Cuz it was mid, yeah.
Actually it may have been taken out in beta... can't recall.
Yeah, she is a hunter, it's kind of weird that many people think she is not a hunter.
Did I hit you? I mida
She's still wearing Lucky Raspberry
In my defense I always thought she was a warlock
So you even know what kind of hunter she was
Wait, she was?!
Drifter/Wu Ming I think is a warlock
Onl she was
which is odd, as he shows very obvious characteristics of a hunter including his harsh survival on europa
Welp, since they made the stuff for Jade Rabbit, hopefully they just shove it in
Works done and all that
Drifter's one of those lightbearers that defies the class system.
We've still yet to see him actually use the Light in D2.
Closest we've come is seeing him get resurrected in the Dreadnaught during Heresy.
Which is honestly interesting as hell to me, makes me wonder on how he fights with the light
@dawn dove in a lore thing he wore a old D1 warlock exotic helmet. I'll have to load up D1 as I can't remember the name of it
He's kind of got a distaste for the light. I think he prefers to just fight with guns.
hell, he uses stasis more than light
Well, he didn't wear a robe after all...
Ah, so he just goes "magics for nerds" and whips out the iron
We have more lore of him using stasis and his firearms than of his entire life using light
i think this might be partially due to his distant relationship with his ghost
@eager locust he probably did. They are nice a floofy 😄 🤣
Vast majority of his lore is about him hiding the fact that he's a lightbearer to stay safe
Since it ain't the light, it's the darkness.
Pretty much your go to if you dislike the light but want to do cool space magic stuff
His distant relationship with anything wrought from the giant golfball in the sky
@rustic elk even more so with its big triangle in it.
i mean he also harbored deep resentment towards his ghost and the light because it was just so hard for him to survive during the dark ages
as he said he would literally die of hunger, just to be revived still hungry and dieing of it.
@dawn dove reviving him still starving
the drifter logs are a great listen honestly
Also seems to have more workarounds than strand to boot.
The Fallen were able to learn Stasis to a baseline extent in a manner of weeks to months with the aid of the splinter as a control module, and hell lightbearers picked up the basics in DAYS at most and in the case of the player lightbearer they got forcefully kicked off the training wheels by Eramis midfight and still won against her, so it must feel mechanically similar to manifesting the light, making it much easier to learn
Don't think I can get away with the quote of how it really.... something him off
Wait I just remembered, Lightbearers don't need to eat or sleep to survive no more right? So was this before Lightbearers learned to nurture themselves with the light?
They don’t need to but they still feel the adverse effects regardless
They do i believe, its just they'll come back anyway
Dunno, attal keeps offering me roast chicken 😆 🤣
Jup, and has a more straightforward requirement comapred to strands go with the flow
They don't need to as in, if they die of the adverse effects of their bodies giving out they can just come right back
Ah, so that's what they meant
There's also probably some Light impacting their health in a positive way though, yes
Like, they still need to, just if they don't it's not nearly as bad as for a mortal
How did he get anything done then? If he rezzed starving I assume he wasn't exactly in the best physical condition, probably fatigued 24/7
Which would also help explain just how dire Drifter's situation was post revival
That's part of why he has a fixation on eating things, and why he hates his Ghost so much
Think of it like an Exo, they don’t need any human support, not even air, but their brains would go insane without the stimuli of doing so because they still felt like they were supposed to be suffocating constantly.
A lightbearer is that but literally, they die, get rezzed every time they die, but it doesn’t make them any less oxygen starved, every time they rez they get brought back to their baselines, but baselines without air is still only a few seconds between suffocations
(and also why his Ghost hates him)
i dont think his ghost hates him, more is just tired of his skepticism and distance
Well he did get lobotomized as a floating eye robot, so I imagine that hurt even more
There's a scene in Edge of Fate where Ikora is fixing a nuclear reactor that's melting down, and being rezzed continuously due to dying of radiation poisoning over and over again
Perfect example
No, his ghost canon hates him. Thinks he's a coward.
God poor Ophiuchus in that moment lol
coward how?
Also damn, that's gnarly as hell
"I'm not running from this one.... "
No idea what that references
Drifter did a thing iirc
Drifter in edge of fate
So he was boutta peace outta something but his ghost said no
When Eris died in Heresy he tried running away from the solar system again, and ended up stopping himself.
Don't worry, she got better due to becoming a hive god in a different season.
Of which I did not enjoy edge of fate at all. The matterspark made me physically ill
Oh so that's what happened to her
Hive God of Vengeance was an absolute peak time for the character
So what's Eris doing now?
@zinc pasture last time I looked, standing on the moon
That's, that's it? She's just standing like an npc on the moon?
Currently? Probably dusting her throne world, dating drifter, looking for Savathûn, etc
Oh damn, Drifter freaky like that
@rustic elk all whilst being the vendor on the moon 😆 🤣
We had just dealt with a memory of Oryx coming back to life, during which she discovered that she still has a form of immortality due to owning a throne world.
So she's kind of thriving
She's probably currently plotting how to deal with Xivu Arath
I mean what, it takes like 3 minutes to ftl from the moon and back, lady can go take a break between public events no one would notice? 🤷
She has a throne world?! Is that wht she turned into a Hive God?
@rustic elk she's probably gone now, as I'm not on D2 atm and rarely go to the moon
I mean earth is right next to the moon
You said you played Witch, iirc
During that she killed Savathun to sever Xivu from her throne world, and the act of killing Savathun granted Eris her own throne
Actually that’s because she became a hive god.
She used a worm god ritual to get converted into a hive through all her sword logic cred and the worm Ahsa
Which I believe she called the High Heresy?
It's this very cozy infinite library looking area
Oh so that's what happened, never progressed much since I didn't have either ps plus, or a laptop that didn't need to tripleclock to load in 10 frames at 140p
Small in terms of Hive God throne worlds but the entire purpose of her godhood is taking their logic and saying "this sucks lmfao" and ruining their plans with their own magic
That’s correct, her Throne is the High Heresy, Oryx’s was the High War, Savathûn was the High Coven, and then wasn’t Xivu’s the Black Terrace or something
So she's like a Hive God that hates the Hive, what does the Hive think of her?
Savathûn thought it was fascinating, Xivu thought it was awful, Oryx thought it was awesome
I can't remember most the seasons or episodes in D2... only the mainline DLC.
Oryx is Crota's kid right? The one that had to be bailed out a lot?
Other way around, Crota is Oryx's son
@zinc pasture oryx is crotas father
Ah, ok
Crota was one of Oryx’s 2 sons, the other was Nokris but Oryx absolutely hated Nokris for being a punk
And a necromancer
Got the two mixed up in all honesty
Nokris was like, extremely excommunicated for heresy
I assume that means Nokris got oneshot by a Dreg or something?
Nah Nokris thought sword logic was stoopid
Ah, that'll definitely do it.
What happened to the git?
@zinc pasture no, the guardian got nokris
Necromancy is one of the biggest no-nos of Hive religion, because it disproves the sword logic
That which has been killed deserves to die
Nokris was killed by the guardian and later taken in by savathun i believe
Fair, but it would be hilarious if Oryx's kid was beaten by a Dreg
We killed him a few hundred times in the warmind DLC
He kept coming back
Then iirc we perma killed him two years later in Season of Arrivals when he was working for Savathûn
"I hear it, deaths footsteps"
How did we perma kill him?
And what are the odds he'll come back anyways
Savathun threw him at us in an attempt to keep us from talking to the black fleet, and he came to a permanent end inside of the ascendant plane
The exotic helmet drifter wore was Obsidian Mind
Appreciate you digging that up
Death in his ascendant plane,
But he is a Necromancer so that won’t really stop him. If bungie’s writing team want him back he’s probably able to get back eventually, maybe even as a lightbearer
Yessssssssssss
@wraith carbon I'm literally looking at it right now on D1
Wait, Destiny 1 is still up and running?!
Yeah, servers are still up
My brain just processed this fact
@zinc pasture yep. Still a few on it. I do get the odd beaver error trying to goto the tower that was, though
Yup, Bungie has a history of not liking to shut down game servers for a long time, they kept all the Halos up and running all the way into their handoff to 343
Huh, neath!
@rustic elk when the halo games became ruined imo
Iirc D1 was still getting scheduled iron banner events a few months into Destiny 2’s launch
Noice
@rustic elk it gets nothing now. Just xur turning up every friday
Eh 4 had really fun gameplay and a passable story, 5 was boring but I appreciated them trying something new, and infinite albeit a shadow of what it could have been had some solid writing and has some of the better multiplayer in halo
Still, getting a Xur rotation is more than a lot of 11 year old games could ask for
Well that’s not Xûr’s fault lol
Well without earning them. Looking at you Zen Meteor
His will is not his own
Plus he’s stocking shelves for like 3 timelines now in between running a gameshow and getting mugged by the Cabal
Dares of Eternity is so fun
Obsidian Mind. It's always black as on D1 shaders never applied properly to exotics. And yes it's superblack shader on the rest.
Did he die from the cabal?
who
Xur
no?
we dont know much about mr tentacle face other than his will is not his own and that he's an emissary of the nine
How did cabal mug him
Xur got hit by Orins hammer though
I wonder, is it possible for a deceased former Lightbearer to be chosen again by a different Ghost?
Hi! Just want to make sure, I recently played Estela’s mission and I mean I think I’m quite sure about this but is she mixed like with ahamkara’s magic or is just the relic an ahamkara?
That would have a severely low chance of happening Unless the traveler allows it
Her relic is an ahamkara and she made a wish early on that still affects her, haven't played her mission yet so can't give more info than that but yeah a little bit of both
I think I remember reading in her promo text that she was revived with an Ahamkara bone in her hand and it melded their consciousnesses together or something
Wow 😨 ok thank you both ✨🧡
Someone slept on a lot of destiny lore
Explain that part of the lore for me then, gentlemen
No, there's no need for that u seem to be handling it pretty well
No no no, go ahead explain that part of the lore (I'm to lazy)
It's not that I don't agree with ur explanation
It's true it would have a very low chance for a former lightbearer to be chosen by another ghost but it's not the traveler's will that determines that
Each ghost is unique in it's own way
They're drawn by a sense of purpose towards their lightbearer
Warlords chosen by their ghosts r proof
The traveler didn't guide the ghosts to resurrect potential tyrants nor did the ghosts know that they're resurrecting power hungry individuals
They're just drawn to their partners
So for two ghosts to be drawn to one lightbearer is very low
That's how I see it mate and I wasn't condescending u or anything

is yannick just dead now
So is this game a different universe or something
Alternative timeline
O ok maks since now i thought it had some to do with the ahhamkara
Was confused they was saying something about the golden age and havnt played d2 in a year
.
@rugged kite you haven't missed much by not playing D2 in a year
relateable. I find risings movement so much more fluid than destiny 2 now. Its like its got way too much going on at once now visually and mechanically
@final trail i will be honest. I should of stopped after finishing Final Shape. It felt natural conclusion.
Rising is so much more enjoyable. And the lore is excellent... and I main a goth warlock reaper of death
i wonder what any misconceptions are abt the lore in drising
Finish the quest
The biggest one is thinking that it's a direct prequel to D1/D2
ngl i wouldnt be surprised if this alternate timeline was caused by an ahamkara wish
Some random kid walking next to a market stall with bones on it: "Man, I wish giant robots were real."
a ix member: i wonder what would happen if i put this kaiju monster in my pocket into early post dark days earth
The leader does have a pet one
Lol
So do we even find out how dude became leader
So I saw the lore master himself in Haven
Byf?
maybe he wasnt streaming
Yesn't...
Has a Lightbearer been resurrected by more than one Ghost? Yes!
Was that Lightbearer Shin Maphur? Yes!
Unfortunately, then Shin's Law takes hold of that particular piece of lore.
Shin's Law is the rule that if any Destiny Lore discusses something about how Lightbearers work in the context of Shin Malphur, it cannot be applied to any other Lightbearers due to how exceptional literally everything that happens to him is.
Yannick-11 is a technicality...
Spoilers --> ||the only reason Yannick-11 is technically resurrected as another lightbearer is because Tan-2 touched the prolithium wing which transferred a fractal of his consciousness to Tan's memory core||
That's Exos, Exos are a lightbased minefield when it comes to lore lol
Like Moss-2 who can literally swap his mind with his ghost's and vice versa
Don't expect to see Attal doing brain surgery on herself to freaky friday with Swift XD
Exos are literally just build different like that
Yeah, reasonable
Also possibility what's his name from Gwynn story quest gets reselected as a lightbearer and a playable character? :D
(I'm going to end up summoning a bunch of d2 players saying this) maybe as a T-Crash titan? :3
I would crush Kylies skull under my foot.... for commiting evil. Crowther.....
😂 🤣
no, my limited edition digital autograph! Noooo!
Shut it Crowther... You're the one who slept through the presale
🤣 😂
Crowther is the BEST ghost
What's happening over there? How about we check it out. Wha.... I'm not curious
Question, did the devs say when the next campaign will happen?
Curious to see what's next
Damn straight, guy is just fun
I mean I hear crowther, a lot.
how well known and liked is the Shadows of Yor Lore
They're planning on content updates every two months. What exactly that new content is remains to be seen.
Oh sweet, so there's like a decent chance for at least one of em will be filled with stuff to push the plot forward
Real curious as to what exactly caused Harrow to start doing Ahamkara stuff
Wait I just remembered, ||didn't Wolf get a medallion thing to do the sailor moon transformation into a gundam? Or was that for something else?||
You're remembering correctly
Ah sweet, thanks
Shin didn't get resurrected by two Ghosts, the Ghost resurrected two Guardians
But yeah Bungie really said "let's throw out all of our lore to make the coolest guardian" and it worked
I know it would make Shin less special, but I kinda wish Bungie would make more instances of just "well the light is weird" to facilitate other bonkers lightbearer stories, none of them would ever top Shin of course, but would be fascinating to see what unimpeded lore writers could do, especially after seeing how the rising timeline worked out without the narrative guideropes
I think a cool concept is that maybe an Ahamkara gets resurrected by the light, but has no memory of being an Ahamkara and is still in the form of a human since they can shape shift.
Does anyone know how to fix blurry graphics? My phone runs at maximum speed and the quality is still blurry.
Radegast WILL be the tcrash titan without a doubt, otherwise he would just be another xuan wei
nah he's slam, if you've seen his entrances during the story
maybe the d1 one-off slam
could just be ballistic slam as one of his abilities
true
plus, no way they make 2 arc titans and neither of them use tcrash, that would be the biggest betrayal ever
Someone on Reddit thought that Tan-2 may be Ulan-Tan...
I mean maybe, we already have a design for Ulan Tan and it's pretty distinct from Tan-2's aesthetic, but I suppose the same could be said for Jolder and her depiction in Rise of Iron
Plus both being Warlocks with a certain focus on Duology
But the name Ulan-Tan falls more inline with Destiny's Naming conventions for the Awoken than the Exo, which is at least 1 point against it I suppose
Really interesting
why does tan lowk have sukuna in his head 😭
Just learned that Lady Skorri hosts Iron Bar from her Shadowshaper card
Hope she gets some voicelines added soon to reflect that, stead of the ai voice announcer
LOL, so the Cabal gave Lightbearers a buff
Hello
Bonjourno! 👋
Yep, and we finally got the blueprint for it
giving free weapon choice engram
||the medallion thing wolf has? Or did we actually download the blueprints?|| Cuz if so, I'm willing to bet this was one of the deviations from D1/2's tiemline
I'll say both
Oh baller!
They can just copy it from wolf
Wait isn't Wolf's thing from you know who, giving em the you know what?
Yeah, but they can just use its parts and the light to make a copy
Fair
Still tho I'm excited to see how they'll handle the good stuff they just pillaged from the Cabal!
Hopefully we get like our 2nd Rising exotic
Wonder how salty the Cabal will be when they learn that one of their own looted the humans broken toys and made something baller, but got jumped and was ran for his pockets
Causing the humans to become stronger since they can use it better lmao
It will come and bite them later on
Oh fo sho, unless the writers takes away our new toys/something something, you can't use it yet
Tho I will be alright with the latter if it makes sense
Going through shadowshaper cards, and very happy that Ikora is apparently a beast in Iron Bar!
Didn't realize that the Hive was cool with guns until I read it
Thought they were like Ceasears Legion in New Vegas
Who has a full length video of this
.
hopefully the next hive related story bit is the next big expansion and we end up killing crota, pushing oryx to attack us again

im psure this is a reference to her mainline lore because she was known as a demon in the crucible
"We've woken the Hive"
Which is why I'm happy when I read it
The only person to beat "the great Lord Shaxx"
Iirc, that is...
She not only had the longest win streak in crucible (future version of Iron Bar) history, a streak that apparently still hasn’t been reached by the late city age, but she trounced Shaxx so profoundly that he apparently still has phantom pain from the experience (there’s some old lore about how he doesn’t sit the same way after that fight with Ikora)
Which has lead some to wonder if she might be why Shaxx’s helmet misses a horn
many theorise that shaxx lost the horn at the battle of twilight gap, or his meeting with sjur eido but nonetheless it has a good story behind it.
I like to think that shaxx fakes his limp so ikora doesnt beat him up again
WOLF!!! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, STOP TRYING TO BE A DEAD HUNTER!!!
where should i post to find an Eclipse group?
I’m sure for a lot of you hardcore Destiny fans what I am about to say is not surprising (I am new to the Destiny canon):
The story has a large overlap with what we are currently experiencing in world events that involve NHI and UAPs… the authors of this narrative are clearly tapped into this Realm that is at humanity’s doorstep.
Anyone out there have this same reaction?
We probaly get jumpships at some point
Since we saw an uncompleted jumpship in a hangar in haven
Minor correction, Crucible already exists. Iron Bar is a less aggressive competitor with Crucible, then Crucible goes through some reform and becomes the mainline version
Ah very much appreciate the correction!
Also fun fact we might get a playable fallen in a few years
Fascinating dialogue, but damn do I wish it was real people talking haha, the NPC voices are so toneless
Fallen shinka lightbearers came to mind when I thought about the harder difficulties
@rustic elk especially the public event ones. They are bad...
Is that aj
I'm looking for best friend request me?
Looking for a best friend? How would that work ?
Agun español para eclipse?
Crowther...
hello someone speak spanish?
Yes I do
i new in this game, no se si tengas el juego en español pero queria saber si conviene "sortear" en el apartado de "extraer" creo q son cajas aleatorias?
check dms
Tienes today la razon no tengo el juego en español 😪
Me puedes enviar una foto a lo que estas trantando de hacer manda la foto a privado
Por favor usa el canal de #lfg-gauntlet-onslaught
yeah, sorry thks ya pude je
I've got all Estelas diary entries done, yet the final one "to the reader" hasn't unlocked. I need that lore
Yeah it seems bugged
it seems this game has no lore on vex milk yet 😭
👋
@charred ingot don't put your arm in it
PLEASE id love to have that so much😭😭😭 if itd be money to spend for it id be willing.. it would be fun to play as an eliksni esp with their fast dodging and multiple arms
Yes
Devs are lactose intolerant
I'm not able to complete Estela's last diary entry for some reason, is that normal? 🤧
Yup, thats normal. Assumed to be a bug.
when will that be fixed?
lol
Estela story was insane… that ahamkara really fed twice. So devious
a little late to this comment, but im actually so glad there's voices for the NPCs and sidequests
the only real other option is no audio for them at all like in genshin
bc no dev is going to waste money on voicing sidequest/unimportant NPCs so at least we get ANY voices for them
Tbh the ai voices of some the NPC make me laugh everytime I hear them
some of the fallen having wildly different voices than other fallen as if they are missing the filters makes me laugh
Asians tend to be very lactose intolerant to my knowledge.
Nahhh I love me some milk
I respect lactose intolerant people who sacrifice themselves to enjoy dairy products.
The fallen sound like they smoke 20 packs of cigarettes a day.
Don't drink vex milk, it will change you in ways you didn't want
😂
Can you remind me what happened to the last person who put vex milk in their system?
That’s true, we might never se vex eggnog in DR
Well Ashir Mir started to turn into one.
Turn into the milk?
He did a vex cold ice plunge at the end of arival
Into a vex, stuck inside the vex network. He kinda appears in the strike on Europa
Oh
Very chill dude even when vex tho
You remember what happened to his ghost after changing teams?
No, and I wish I could go back to see. Unless Byf has a video on it.
It would have been a cool plot point to have the vex learn how to harness light to some degree with the help of a vex ghost (or every other faction had some light …erey except the vex)
We will get jumpships someday
Well, need them if they add Mars, Venus etc
Does anyone know how wolf died in this before the destiny franchise started?
They didn't, this isn't a prequel
It's set earlier but it's a completely different story, things don't end up the same
I thought it was? Isn't this during the collapse?
Yes, in an alternate universe
Well also it's not during the collapse, it's at the end of the dark ages
Modern day -> Golden Age -> Collapse -> Dark Ages -> City Age
Ahhh lame, thought it was a prequel. Wanted to know how everyone dies before the start of the franchise
Do you think the vex is going to show the current timeline in the future? Since they are time traveling things
It's an alternative prequel. Maybe one where our guardian dies... likr the grave in the corridors of time.
Yeah its like, not exactly "alternate universe" more like - rewind to a specific point in the Destiny timeline, and start from there as its own continuity. Like all the stuff before Rising is still the same, by my understanding.
Like in the main timeline Jolder is dead from the Siva incident. I'm guessing we'll probably have Siva show up eventually here, but that it wont have that same event occur
It isn't. The timeline seems to have diverged at some point in the golden age.
Oh thats interesting. I wasnt aware of that
All of the official marketing blurbs and whatnot specifically refer to it as an alternate timeline, as well, so there's word of god on that specific front.
Well yeah, i guess im trying to diferentiate between "alternate timeline" vs. "multiverse nonsense"
It's a pretty potato potato distinction, in my opinion.
It does lean more towards multiverse, though. There's lore in DR talking about going into other timelines, including the main timeline. For details, Ikora's "correspondence with osiris" diary entries, and the D2 exotics' lore tabs go into stuff like that.
The D2 exotics in particular are weird. There's an organization called Project Clotho that's going into separate timelines to heist exotics to bring into the DR timeline.
Like, the version of Chaperone we have is from a separate timeline where Amanda died with her mother in the panama ravine. These Clotho people brought it into our timeline for some unknown reason.
Likewise, the version of Izanagi's Burden we have is from a timeline where they saved Yuki Satou, and asked for the rifle in return.
That's...weird. So thats both timeline jumping and time-traveling.
Yup, indeed. I'm curious to see more about it in the future.
Sounds like some vex nonsense
The lore tab for Huckleberry is where they talk the most about Project Clotho. It's a long one.
"One day, I will meet the reaper once more"
Okay so i have a really stupid question. Where the heck are these exotic weapon lore tabs.
Because i was looking for them because i assumed they'd exist and....they're apparently well hidden?
They're somewhat hidden, I'll get some screenshots showing how to navigate to them in a minute.
The first method is when inspecting a gun, either in archives or inventory, go into preview mode and click the little book icon
Second method is going into the exotics page in Acclaim, clicking "foundry details", and then "story" which will bring you to all of the exotic weapon lore
Seems ive got alot of material to read when i get back home
do we know yet if the Witness is the one who chased down the traveller? or is the darkness nebulous once more?
Just the darkness currently
Anything in the lore stuff hinting about an actual overarching enemy we might expect to face eventually if things go well with the game?
We did hear and see a part of crota
Think we are in for a long ride with Rising. So much they can do.
And Crota. Few gjally rounds and a sword of crota brings him to his knees
To be fair, the version of Crota we fight in the raid is, in-lore, him at his weakest. We're jumping him after his sources of power got cut off, while he's recuperating from being...well, dead. Crota during the Great Disaster was a whole other beast.
Imagine having Eris when she was still a guardian in game. Toland too
Oh, almost certainly going to happen
Eriana 3,
Personal top pick for a mythic in-lore Lightbearer is Wei Ning, though.
I want to play as the titan who moves mountains when she punches them.
Toland would be very, very interesting, wonder what he'd look like. Creepy goth? Or nerd?
Here's hoping a goth 😆 🤣
Watch him be gwynn with shorter hair lololol
Or longer hair. 🤘
Base him on ozzy (rip hero)
Don't forget Omar (the bug in Xenophage)
I want Xenophage to be added into the game so Omar can wield himself
It'd make sense in the game's canon, too, legacy exotics are literally brought in through timeline travel shenanigans
If I recall, Xenophage was made by Eris after we found what was once Omar
Correct
The crystal that his weird bug self got turned into is at the core of xenophage
The rest of the gun's chassis is an exodus project machine gun
Rather, his weird bug self is inside of a crystal
Amber Mosquito lookin ahh
always a chance for Shin Malphur, maybe even Rezyl Azzir since whatever turns him into dredgen Yor might not happen
the Kabr story has their ghost try to hook him up with Praedyth so I got my fingers crossed for that
and the fact Osiris doesn't get a model might be a sign he is a potential option
given its a Gatcha though, I would get we get Felwinter but they're a woman
I would love a story where Rezyl goes rogue and we have to hunt him down
I know just a light bearer to do it
Nah he's gonna be first exotic character. Look at my name
Soooooo is cayde gonna come back oooor is he dead, dead? Since from my understanding that this is a prequel from the originals
Alternate timeline set at the end of the dark age and early city age
Ooooh makes sense
I thought I triggered the community because I said that. I'm happy someone explained that to me..... I'm kinda new to the games really
Surely we're going to get to play as him!
I wonder if Sundance has even revived Cayde yet in this timeline?
Does anyone have a group for an upcoming eclipse fresh run?
You seem lost
I'd go to #off-topic for this. This channel is for lore discussion specifically.
👍🏻
If you were asked about Estela and her story before her death and when she was a lightbearer, what would it be?
Aka how would you tell her story?
Lord of wolves should’ve been released alongside the fallen themed weapons, it’s just a fallen shrapnel launcher that any fallen use, so its not like some exclusive to any faction
If it’s ever planned to be released it would be amazing
Lord of Wolves was available in Alpha, so it's entirely possible we'll see it in the future.
wait is there a list of exotics that were in the alpha?
Graviton Lance
Lord of Wolves
Bad Juju
Those are the ones that were in alpha that are still missing, to my recollection
@prime cave can i get a fact check on my memory?
So who sabotaged the Sentinel factory Kris worked at in Finnala's story?
At the end they were talking about frequencies and how it couldn't have been anyone they'd known or the Cabal. And that it was someone that appeared and quickly disappeared (transmatted in and out).
Finnala and Wolf seem to have an understanding but leaves the player stumped.
An unknown lightbearer?
Would assume sun shot is on the list also since it’s art is displayed while loading into jainshi metro
No, Sunshot was not available in alpha. But it's been spotted in prerelease footage a few times.
It’s being used by a guardian in the loading screens for jaingshi metro also. I meant to say that sunshot was on the list of guns to expect. Not the alpha list. That’s my bad. Still early 😂
Here's a thought going through my head. In our D1/D2 timeline that Saint 14 is dead. And its a different timeline Saint 14 that came through the corridors of time and currently standing in the Tower-far-infuture. Could it be this timelines Saint 14?
Good job I'm a warlock... if I was a titan i would be all cross-eyed. 😂 😂
Hi
Considering we're yet to have mention of Saint, and that the Saint in D2 is just one hell of a Vex simulation brought from the Infinite Forest, I think it's unlikely
We will see.
If I'm being realistic - I expect Saint-14 to be ignored entirely.
Along with a few other characters in the lore
I'm sadge since I just remembered there's a decent chance we're not getting Thundercrash
Since it was probably made by quite the Dredgeful dood
Wait, the Saint from D2 is just a simulated Saint?
Yep
Real Saint is very dead
Current saint had an existential crisis during Echoes because of Maya getting into his head about exactly that
Ohhhhhh, that also expalins that one book of sorrows entry I read
The Book of Sorrow is Hive, not Vex
It was XLIII and there some Quarin dood was about to get his behind domain expanded by Oryx
And in a final move decided to simulate an Orxy back when he was before Oryx, when he was this Ashr something dood without his worm
That was Crota being an idiot, and the Vex only became a threat because they followed the Sword Logic
And I'm pretty sure Oryx was watching and was interested in talking to his past self who still cared about his sisters (it was a bit confusing to read since it kinda switched perspectives I think? Idk)
Yeah there the Quarin Vex guy was listening in on Oryx preach to his past self/Quarin I think about Sword Logic
Nvm I'm dumb, it looks like Quria (the name of the Vex in the entry) manifested Aurash (Oryx's past self) in front of Oryx
If I recall he was Auryx during that, not Oryx
Auryx is like in between him smoking a worm god and Aurash ye? Even then tho the Vex calls him Oryx
Also found that entry, albeit the first one I read that wasn't talking about the stupid stuff players doing becoming canon, that introduced me to some neatho stuff
From the Vex not being able to simulate the Hive well due to their Hive magic stuff, that they yeet information from across time to aid in other timelines the Vex are in, that Oryx DID care for his sisters at some point, and that Oryx is one stone cold mf
He was getting blasted but he just got on one knee and told this one Vex that he was better than the poor clanker and didn't take a scratch*
Nobody cared about echoes lol. The episodes was not enjoyable at all
missing Truth, Merciless and Jade Rabbit
Truth is a beast in D2
Void rocket launcher with tracking, its no gjally but a good alternative. Ikora gets the best RL
why not Two tail fox with the additonal Arc rocket?
It was one solar and one void in the mainline game. I don't have it in Rising because my rng for exotics is fantastically poor
Well I just got two tail fox today
And the catalyst which I’m gonna get says that a arc rocket can be fired.
Catalyst in d2 gives arc as well
TTF has much more aggressive tracking than truth in this game tho
Never got the cat. As I'm a gjally user
It probably needs it though
Remember, Revenant is right there
True
Does the game list the biological age of each character anywhere? (Or in Tan’s case, his mental age before becoming and Exo)
Fairly certain it doesn't - though given that all lightbearers are immortals, that sort of becomes somewhat irrelevant.
Well yea, but even if their chronological age is centuries, they stay the age they were when resurrected
I suppose. You could try to read into personalities a bit, but its not specified anywhere to my knowledge (and frankly, its basically always a good idea to not specify, from the writers perspective)
Yeah they don't really age until their ghosts die. Or, in one weird case, get time warped due to proximity to a singularity while trying to revive a god.
Hmm. Who has a dead ghost who actually aged? I know its implied but has it ever actually been shown? (context - i quit D2 in early Shadowkeep, never played D1 but read most of its lore - so if it was shown after that in D2, I just wouldnt be aware of it). Like I know Eris doesnt age, but she's got hive shenanigans
Not quite true
They don't necessarily get resurrected at the age they died, and they don't stay the same even while they have a ghost. Minor changes happen with each resurrection
Do they age after resurrection? If so that’s news to me
Yeah as per katabasis lore and some others iirc, tiny changes happen that can build up over time
Ghosts may have some control over it, it may be due to the alternate timeline the guardian was hypothetically pulled from, it may have just been this one situation
Like my boy Sifu
Zavala.
Zavala is currently undergoing the effects of aging. As is Osiris.
We do also know from Drifter's lore that ghosts have at least some control over the state their lightbearer is resurrected in
Bro can’t catch a break
Also Katabasis, the original wielder of Dead Man's Tale.
He was paranoid about his ghost changing him between resurrections.
And considering his Ghost was...kind of a bastard, that may have actually been the case.
Oh, you mentioned that already
🐌 time
@wraith carbon 🐌
Noooo internet moment sent it late 😭
Interesting.
So Wolf is stronger than Gojo?
Is there any reason why Tin Can doesnt talk?
Like Tan-2's Tethra talks, despite the Yannick's messing with Consciousness of Tan
Accident
But Estela's Relic talks herself directly
That's all we know, we don't know what exactly happened but Tin Can can't talk
As for Tethra, he's... just not much of a talker
but he does spout occasional wisdom xD
I know a very chatty ghost who sometimes doesn't shut up.
Real xD
Actually, we do. Just not the specifics. Tin Can got shot by an unknown Lightbearer. Tagging @nova lotus as well. This is covered in her diary entry "Scars" (pasted below, spoilered if you want wait to unlock it yourself). Brec also comments about this in Estela's menu lines, which i've also included.
While the entry is presented as a dream, given the context of the rest of her entries (and general behavior), it seems to be anything but - plus Brec's confirmation.
oo, i should pay more attention to diary lore ;-; but thank you soo much for this.
I was wondering if someone betrayed Estela that Brec kept talking about
The diary entries are, surprisingly, pretty well done for the ones i've paid attention to so far.
turns out it was Tin Can
The last entry of Estelas touched my cold black heart
what does it say?
Not logged in currently so remind me to take a screenshot
damn would have said it myself
For what its worth, the final entry kind of only makes sense if you read all of them (which is reinforced by its unlock condition)
true
You need to finish Estelas story. It was really good too. Only finished Gwynns and Estelas so far
Yeah i am lacking proficiency sadly. Not many areas where i can earn that quicker
Chaos is where I did it
Gotcha <o, thanks
Of which I need to take Attal in there to finish her lore
xD i am at like 90% for her diary, just need to do like 4 Red Sea rift public events for the last one
gonna censor the titles but its pretty cute
Attal keeps offering me Roast Chicken.... 😆
Roast Chicken, Honey Glazed Lamb, Pumpkin Pasty & Cranberry sauce, How does that sound?
Fine... but none of that dinner and a show

(How to tell I'm a gwynn main.... I can quote them)
Real (bro forgot "dinner and a show nonsense)
"Make way for the Reaper worm"
Close enough. I'm running on a few hours sleep 😆
xD
I can perfectly hear that in Conquest's voice and I dunno how to feel about that
You mean Crowther right?
Fun fact Crowther voice actor also voices wolf and Bruce banner in marvel rivals
Indeed he is. Great talent to sound different
He also voices a scribe
No, I mean Conquest, ya know, from Invincible?
Nope. I've spent last 11 years and counting playing Destiny, Ark, Assetto Corsa competizione, gran turismo and being very ill 😆 🤣
Y'all think Estela would theoretically try gunning for Morgan?, she is hunting every Ahamkara afterall
Yes, I think so. The start of the Great Hunt
Oh, most definitely he's on the list eventually
Though she has to get past Radeghast first
Offer Radeghast a pack of crayons. He'll be fine 🙂
assuming Estela don't go nuts.
If she comes to Haven. She don't like crowds. And cursed. There's a way to break her curse though.
Read "to the reader" diary entry.
I did, but what is the way to break her curse?
why destroy her relic?
It's an ahamkara bone. If estela made a wish.. it was the bone who granted it. Even the remains still hold power
So what would happen if Estela's relic was destroyed would she have to look for a new relic? And why would she destroy it?
She would need a new relic. Well to break her curse of if she stays in one place too long, bad things happen soon after.
Though I doubt the game will ever do that. As in Rising lightbearers have a relic.
her questline implies there's some like, "core" part of an ahamkara's remains that hold most of their power
brec says something along the lines that his "core" has already been destroyed, and he's barely a whisper of a thought at this point
yeah, you can drop
So like. What exactly IS Harrow?
Are superposed photons the combination of photons and light/darkness to make fusion matter?
Is that why they are considered "superposed"? Or is it the merging of frequencies within that changes its properties and makes it superposed?
👀
I cant seem to figure out where Estela got her curse from?
She was resurrected holding Brec. She seems to have known him in life, somehow.
That means we dont have the full story for estela as of now I presume? Like what wish she made and how she came upon Brec etc
||We have pieces from her diary entry + Daughter of Spring lore, and Zelpachad mentioned what wish she made while taunting her in her quest||
I see. It's a little annoying that we are only getting snippets of information here and there and not being able to get the whole picture in the end 😅
Welcome to Destiny Lore, where we are drip fed small amounts and have to figure it out.
yeah at least it wasn't as bad as d1 lore i guess. We literally had to decipher codes and sound cues for some lores lol
Find dead ghosts and go to bungie to read them... which can't do now.
"None may sin before me"
Attals Lore finished
Gwynn’s lore is finished and you won’t believe what happens at the end of the 13 facts
Oh I know. I could kill Crowther 😆 🤣
Hi
Hello, welcome to the Lore section. Where we mostly discuss the lore of Destiny. Might be the odd tangent taken though.
👍
Omfg the only feature I miss
So like. What exactly IS Harrow?
I'm think she's an alarm aharmkara who has shape shifted into human form. Or cursed
That is what I'm thinking too. Which also explains why she's never around town, because she feels compelled to grant wishes.
Let's send Esela to find out.
assuming Harrow can be found and if the devs plan further story
God I hope so. I like Harrow.
It's only the beginning
Harrow is cool. Amazing how they already have so many good non lightbearers in the story.
We haven't had this many cool non-Lightbearers since the Red War. And now those people are all gone.
Apart from Hawthorne
Hawthorne was lame.
The bird is better
I forgot about her 😂 They had so many things they never fully fleshed out. Hope its just a engine thing and 3 will allow more.
I'm not holding my breath for a D3
@astral trout you can also chill here where people talk and discuss destiny lore
The home of Destiny Lore.
We are all secretly Byf's alternate accounts.
Shhhhh. Greetings Guardians my name is Gwynn here....
Possibly. I'm pretty sure Estela will start the great hunt
Spoilers for the story: ||How did we go from fighting the Fallen to fighting the Cabal 2/3rds of the way through the story? Weren't we worried about the stuff with the Fallen in space still?||
So basically ||the Fallen are still generally antagonizing Haven, but the big threat and cause of all of their raids and stuff was gathering materials for Issakis. We prepare to defeat them in Gauntlet: Blitz, then we actually attack in Gauntlet: Onslaught, killing them and ending the threat. After we return, with Haven relatively safe, we venture out to a different location because they sent out a distress signal||
Thaaaank you. ||I thought the Gauntlet was just temporarily delaying them, but that makes sense.||
||Yeah no, they're definitely dead now. The Fallen are still a threat but we killed their leader ||
The thing about The Fallen (that I also love tbh) is 99% of the time they are not a major threat.
Then some jerk Captain or Archon or something goes "I wonder if I can make a Fallen War Machine" or "I wonder if I can hijack nanobots" or "I think I can hijack tyhe vex time machine portals" and suddely they are playing with more power then they know what to do with and the fallen are a threat again.
Fallen are not dangerous untill some desperate jerk amoung them comes up with a crazy plan desperate enough to work and then they are punching with the giants untill we kill the plan maker.
Yeah the fallen more than any other faction are survivalists first. They just don’t want to die.
Until eventually some psycho cons the rest into thinking the best path of survival is a suicide mission, and they full send some insane plan.
Most of the fallen we face have been either genuinely fine or even sometimes pleasant until the up and comer of the week cons them all into a death wish.
House of Exiles (Kepler) was amicable with humanity until Levaask went off the deep end. At which point they caused events that got most of their house dead
House Salvation was left to build Riis Reborn alone entirely until Eramis started using the darkness and selling the idea of attacking earth,
At which point they caused events that got most of their house dead
The Devil splicers were left alone after their litany of skirmishes until Siva started infecting people and guardians in the city
The only real exception to this trend would be house of dusk which was just the fallen trying to rebuild but even then they started stuff by attacking failsafe, stealing from human refuges on Titan, etc.
There's also the whole business of most of the "foot soldiers" not really being 'enthusiastic participants'. It's all about ether rations and not getting your arms cut off.
Cabal smart??? But they're supposed to be the dumb Brute expys! /j
Some might be, Caital is pretty smart for a cabal
Guardians
Cabal scientists are like a hammer: blunt, but powerful
And very effective
If I didn't know any better.... but that sounds like SIVA?
Or something similar
But is SIVA like... Outbreak Perfected?
There is SIVA but it hasn't been discovered yet (thank god)
Yeah... something something wrath of the machine 🤣
Because in main timeline that's bye bye all but 2 Iron Lords
But since we got some sentinel armor, that can give us the edge against most of our foes
Not gonna say how I would like my sentinel armour for me... other then black.
Dude... imagine if we could shader the sentinel armor... Oh, the awesome that would be
When Solar Gunslinger out (Cayde/Shin Malphur Archetype)
Maybe next month!
There is not a day that goes by (this is a lie, there are several weeks that go by typically) where I do not think about what Joe Staten's Destiny would've looked like.
Like just based on what outlines have been shared around, it seemed like it would've been a really nice, grand story. Probably not on the level of what Halo achieved, but still a lot better than what we got in the game proper.
If destiny rising was before Destiny and destiny 2(don’t know which timeline they were set in place) does that mean we will have a encounter with Oryx and the taken in future updates?
Yes, but its also an alternate timeline so things dont have to follow the D1/D2 plots. That said, Crota is referred to heavily in Ikora's character quest, so count on him showing up
Oh I know that it isn’t canon and I actually did play the ikora’s mission, all I meant is that what if we can actually have a new character that is involved with Oryx like with Estella hunting down the ahkamura(don’t know if I’m correct because I don’t have the character)?
probably? its an alternate timeline, so who knows
Is Destiny Rising cannon to D1 and D2?
No. It's "based on" the Iron Lords / Early City Age era, but its not canon to it. Alternate timeline.
Not really, no. As Balmerick said, it's in an alternate timeline based on the early city age. However, there's some light Vex related lore about messages crossing over from the main timeline to the DR timeline. Kill 50 Vex with Ikora to unlock those diary pages.
Why is Estella only one with dragon?
Because Ahamkara are rare, and working with them is even rarer.
She also isnt the only one. Which either means you're very forgetful, or you havent played the main campaign at all.
Every hero has a playable relic but only Estela is bonded to an Ahamkara, no?
We might play Radaghast later. We don't know.
Interestingly, Riven ought to be around and causing headaches for Mara Sov right now, as well. That'd be neat to have an alternate timeline situation with.
Yeah exactly that’s what makes Estela stand out so much. Ahamkara aren’t just rare in the world but actually bonding with one is practically unheard of. From everything I’ve seen so far Estela’s the only playable Lightbearer who carries that kind of relic. Wolf’s got his sword the others have their own artifacts but none of them are tied to a dragon like she is. That rarity is kind of the whole point of her Ahamkara Bane identity.
Yeah that would be neat Riven’s always the wildcard when it comes to Ahamkara. But from what I’ve seen Destiny Rising is keeping things separate from Mara Sov’s tangled story. Estela’s bond with Bréc feels more like its own narrative thread showing what it’s like for a Lightbearer to directly wrestle with an Ahamkara’s lingering will. If they ever played the ‘alternate timeline Riven’ card though? That’d be absolute chaos in the best way.
Well, i wouldnt say its keeping things seperate. Mara shouldnt have any major interactions at this stage of things, but she's out there in the Reef, Distributary has already happened, etc.
Yeah that’s fair Mara’s definitely out there in the Reef and her whole Distributary arc is already behind her at this point. I just meant more in terms of Destiny Rising’s focus. Instead of pulling in big Reef politics or Awoken plot threads it’s really zoomed in on Wolf, Estela, and the relics. Riven existing in the background makes total sense lore wise but narratively Rising seems more about exploring what Ahamkara bonds mean on a personal level rather than tying directly into Mara’s schemes… at least for now 👀
Well right, im just saying in the mainline Destiny continuity, she shouldnt be doing anything Earth-related really anyway
That’s why it works in the mainline continuity Mara’s hands are full with Reef politics, Awoken agendas, and eventually Riven. So it actually makes sense that Destiny Rising keeps her out of Earth focused events. That leaves space for Wolf and Estela’s stories to breathe without tripping over the Dreaming City timeline. If they ever do bring Mara in it’ll probably be as a distant Reef presence rather than someone meddling directly on Earth.
Which means that her not being involved in whats going on seems fine - but since its an alternate timeline, they're free to bring her in if they choose. Probably as a later "region" (much like how other gachas usually do a new region every year)
Huh?
Hmm?
Wouldn't DR be before the great hunt? Or have they said directly somewhere that it's after?
It's before. Great Hunt hasn't been mentioned as a concept, yet.
I mean...if it was, I don't think Morgran would be palling around with the Lords.
Yeah I had the same thought, so really all of the ahamkara should be around.
Honestly it's be kinda cool to see places like warlords ruin in its prime given the time period
Osiris is on all timelines. He messed up.
Yeah, thats the point really.
IF the great hunt happens in this timeline.
You guys ever Wondered what gonna happen when act 2 starts in uuh like 2 Months
Act 2 starts in 10 days
It does?
Why some people from D1-2 in Rising? Like Xur
Because its the same universe? I mean, Xur is hardly the most notable one.
I meant like different timeline right?
I mean sure, but I'm not understanding why Xur being around is somehow...special?
D1 and 2 have no direct lore connection but I’m saying certain people form those games no?
The Nine are in every timeline
Why is what I’m saying they different just for the story ?
I don't follow what you mean by "different"
Like does Xur just exist? Why isn’t wolf in D1 and 2 then?
Who's to say that Wolf didnt exist in the D1/D2 timeline, and was just never referenced in any of the available text. Most of the Iron Lords got wiped out after all.
If you look. Xur isn't hunched over as much as he is in D1/D2. Because he hasn't been hit by Orins hammer in this timeline
Is there any information in game saying that?
Or maybe in the D1/D2 timeline, Zev never found him. Who knows.
I guess i'm still not really understanding the basis of your question.
Like, basically - this isnt "earlier in the same timeline", this is a fork of the Destiny timeline. And the fork happened even earlier than the start of gameplay in Rising.
So, the same characters are around, provided that the fork wouldnt have just eliminated them. Xur, Ikora, Radegast, Jolder, Skorri, Saladin, etc. - these are not really in any way surprising to see here.
Why do some characters from D1 and D2 still show up in Rising, like Xur?
Aren’t these supposed to be different timelines?
If D1 and D2 don’t have direct lore connections, why do certain people from those games carry over?
Does Xur just exist across everything? And if that’s the case, why don’t we see others like Wolf in both D1 and D2 as well?
You answered pretty much it all already but hard to explain in text ngl
Okay but, again - i am failing to understand why it being a different timeline would preclude Xur's presence.
I’m pretty sure you said that
I just copied that from you or someone and been saying that
Okay, let me try to explain it a better way.
Rewind the D1/D2 continuity. Way before the gameplay of D1 starts, before the gameplay of Rising starts even - as the split apparently happened in Golden Age era. Now make a branch of the timeline, completely separate from the "main" branch. Everything that would exist from the point of creating that branch still exists. So, there's no reason to think that the Nine (and by extension, Xur) wouldnt exist on the new branch.
I see where the confusion is! The part that trips me up is just that not every character seems to cross over. But like you said, who’s to say they aren’t there? Maybe their story just hasn’t been told yet
Yeah i mean, there's plenty of dead lightbearers in the D1/D2 continuity so, again, it could be that Wolf got killed off in the D1/D2 continuity, but survived in the Rising continuity. Or Zev never found him or got killed herself. Or he just never became all that remarkable - the solar system is a big place after all, and there's plenty of lightbearers in it whose stories dont get told. It's completely feasible that Wolf is alive in the D1/D2 continuity and was simply never "important enough" to talk about.
Any number of possible explanations really. I think its fairly safe to say that the ones i just gave (or ones like them) can generally be assumed to be the case for most characters that appear in Rising but dont appear in D1/D2 lore.
Different stories, same IP. Not everything turns out the same so not every character appears, but some will still show up
This is the era of the Iron lords too, so some characters haven't been found or found the city yet, and the last city hasn't been built yet either. It's also before the great disaster and the great hunt so there are even more characters that should be still alive or unchanged like Eris that we will probably see in the future.
I think it's also pre-awoken diaspora/Dreaming City?
Well, aside from company ownership and all that legal stuff, from a lore standpoint it’s kind of like how Sony has Spider-Man but he’s still part of Marvel. Does it really matter in the bigger picture, or not so much?
Yeah, that makes sense. Since it’s set so far back, it explains why we don’t see everyone yet. A lot of characters just wouldn’t have had their stories start, but they could still exist in the background waiting to be revealed. It leaves the door open for familiar faces like Eris or even others we haven’t thought about to eventually show up.
That's not really what's going on, NetEase has bought all of the rights. It's more like how Sam Raimi's Spider-Man and Marvel's Spider-Man both have Spider-Man, Flash Thompson, MJ etc. but they're slightly different portrayals of the same character
Nah, that should already have happened, given that we have Awoken around on Earth currently (Skorri, Umeko, soon one more). The events of Distributary and the exodus from there, at a minimum, have already happened. So the Reef should be a thing right now, and the Dreaming City either already exists or is about to.
And not just Awoken, but resurrected Awoken, so yeah a decent amount of time has passed since the exodus
Yeah. Its highly likely the Dreaming City is already a thing. Just hard to say for certain since specific years arent given in D1/D2 based lore, but it would be pretty unreasonable to assume otherwise.
Okay, so if that’s the case, isn’t it basically just alternate universes then? Like literally what Marvel’s doing with their multiverse approach?
Sidenote - I would totally play a third Destiny game where its the Distributary timeline.
Yes
It's an alternate universe, and also set earlier. It's not a prequel
Yeah I was wondering about that, at least per D2 lore, the awoken flotilla showed up at earth at the beginning of the city age
So developers have all right you said?
I mean the Awoken have appeared earlier than that, given Zavala died, was resurrected, and then helped build the City
Right. We're in early city age right now. The city is currently being constructed, but that takes centuries of time and its clearly in the early stages. So who knows how far along it is really. These events can fit together without conflicting.
Yep, they can use whatever characters they want to my knowledge, with the possible exception of characters released after the deal, like Lodi. Bungie still has narrative oversight tho so they could shoot down ideas
So basically they can use any characters or storylines they want without restrictions? There’s no ‘you can’t do this because it will affect D1 or D2’? Kind of like in movies with alternate universes what happens there doesn’t really impact the main timeline.
Bungie might say "you can't do this" but yeah NetEase has quite a bit of freedom
I agree, I think it helps at least give a better idea of the era. It's interesting to consider how the events flow together in time, rather than being descrete steps. I mean like duh, but it's neat to see it in action
How yall feel about a series 😭
My only regret to us being this early in the City Age timeline, is that we wont have the opportunity to have the Battle of Twilight Gap be a playable event. Because that is one of the coolest conflicts in Destiny's history.
There's still time lol
They'd have to do some major timeskips to fit that in. It would be years down the line in DR's run (if it lasts that long)
They would yeah, D2 was 1:1 time, but DR doesn't necessarily have to be.
I suppose, but I feel like doing timeskips just to hit "D1 lore's greatest hits" isnt necessarily the best use of the IP. Frankly, from what we've seen so far, i feel like NetEase telling their own stories based on the source material (and maybe having a few major events happen earlier - such as Crota showing up) will go much better.
They don't have to do time skips, just time compression
I suppose. Same idea though. I just feel like Twlight Gap specifically would require a major time jump (or compression) because for it to make sense the City has to be mostly built, so thats a large jump
It would
Totally agree, is much rather see how they tell the iron lords story, and the early city age more in depth. Given crota, Im sure the great disaster is a story they want to tell, or at least a version of it
Not going to happen in all honesty no reason to repeat content no?
Also they can add completely new eras, no? Different stuff can happen if it’s a branch
Right. Like there's plenty of major D1 events that can happen in DR just earlier, handwaved off as "they decided to move sooner". Great Disaster, any number of things involving Riven, Oryx, etc.
Part of that is simple because these events also all happened in the early city era too, so it's not that much of a stretch imo
It's not necessarily a "repeat". Like, Crota still wants to invade Earth, we already know this from Ikora's questline in DR - where she and Osiris are working to stop that from happening (which might actually be the precursor to him getting summoned to the moon instead).
Like, using your multiverse example from earlier - nobody complains that its "just a repeat" when Batman has to fight The Joker again in another imagining of it.
Plus we can see alternate resolutions to it. Maybe the "Great Disaster" happens in DR, but it isnt a disaster. Maybe Eris never loses her ghost and her eyes. Stuff like that.
or maybe its way worse, and Crota ends up on Earth instead of the Moon
Plenty of possibilities, really.
It's probably an oversight, but we already know to use their swords to break their immunity shields
So if we know sword logic, maybe it won't be a disaster indeed
Maybe we'll meet unbroken toland
Honestly decent chance Eris doesn't lose her Ghost so she can become a playable character
Yeah, kinda hoping for that as well. Would be nice to see a non-miserable Eris finally.
Makes sense we’ll see in time I’m sure they won’t do us bad on story 🤣
Oh wait
Do we know if ikora wolf xuan wei ning fei or the awoken create impressions on the light?
Love to have Toland in game, as a human. Not a ball of light
Story spoilers: ||Ayo, did Wolf have a kid in their previous life?||
Up to interpretation
Do you guys think Osiris will be playable in this game? Bro is so broken in lore that I even wonder if he could be a thing. I guess at least his clones would work though since Ning can do something similar
Love to have Osiris tbf
yea probably
probably but he’ll be locked to solar unfortunately. he’s probs our dawn blade character
IIRC he’s fluent and skilled with all elements at once isn’t he?
If they ever make double element characters, he could be the one. Though that would kinda powercreep everyone else (again)
Dawnblade is fun though
definitely they shld give him the airdash and make it spawn a clone
Do you guys think we'll get planets or we will be stuck on earth and thats it?
We will eventually get to other planets
I really hope so, maybe moon, venus and mars for starters, but i heard thats not gonna be a thing in DR because there's no space ships and we used an elevator in the story to go to space and all that, who knows.
The endgame raid meta will be 5 caydes and 1 osiris
Even if we don't get spaceships (which is unlikely imo) they could easily take us to other planets through portals, like what the Vex or the Hive did. We don't have to physically fly to them (though it would be super cool if we could)
Yes
Whether they were biological or not is debatable
Nah Osiris is mid for raids, his buffs are nice but not super useful without his talents
I really hope so bro, the idea of getting stuck on earth, kills all the fun im having.
He has all the elements bro he will fire a nova bomb and it will make a well where it lands, and it arcs chain lightning to nearby enemies debuffing them
Sincerely doubt it. A core part of Destiny franchise is going to other planets/locations to fight aliens. Hell, every single expansion during Destiny 2 lifetime took place in a completely new destination, like, they might or might not bring new abilities/supers, but a new planet was 100% guaranteed.
Yeah thats why im hoping for that, like imagine getting D1 moon here, that would be so amazing, and having a new raid that sets a place there, maybe another sword stuff from hive lore that we didn't get to see in console version.
Yes, but consider how that worked out for Bungie. They expanded their scope too rapidly, and "planets" didn't really feel like planets at all - it really messes with the idea of it being a "planet" when you can cross the entire playable area in under a minute. Looking at you, Mercury in D2.
Yeah I hope they do like 3 locations per planet
And a planet per year with story chunks every 4 months with planet launches
So uuh i did jolders quest line and it was Great finding out about how the iron wolves were made however... What was with the voice for the fallen boss i know ai is used a lot but why that one!
Correct, jumpships aren't a thing yet. Right now Rising's main foucs is about Earth and its lost history.
Do you think they'll introduce a character without the typical relic?
They should be a thing though, in terms of the time period / available tech - we just arent using them yet.
There's a jumpship in Haven
Possibly, tt really depends. Technically in the "Dark Age" there were scattered jumpships and equipment and anything found was either not used because it didn't provide any resources locally, dead, or didn't provide value with what the Warlords and Iron Lords valued at the time. The Obsidian Wings ship in D2 details that Felwinter found a functional ship with a working drive and elected to leave it behind because he didn't want to leave the Iron Lords behind . Even in Rising there's some advanced technology but the drill site near Veridian features some regular excavation equipment so it may still be a mixture of technology where jumpships aren't as accessible to all.
How are the Taken in this game?
They arent. Yet. But they probably will be eventually.
Wait but I thought I fought a few of them.
I thought I was thinking of the guys with big balls of light on their heads that exploded when you shot them.
You mean these?
There shouldn't be based on the era, but admittedly I could've sworn I saw "Taken Knight" enemy text during Gwynn's questline - had to do a double take that I wasn't seeing things.
I legitimately do not know. I thought I saw the Taken in one mission in the area where Gwynn goes through the portal under the ice but it wasn't in that mission.
Well, i can definitely assure you, there are no Taken in game currently. There's some weird Wizard looking units that you might mistake for one though. Gonna use the shadowshapers card because its the easiest picture i can find.
I'm stupid. Are the Hive in this game?
Yes...
Then it was a Cursed Thrall I saw.
lmao
I'm dumb.
I did get hyped to see Hive Deathsingers - didn't expect that.
I never did learn Destiny factions. All I know are the Cabal because they're the games equivalent of Brutes.
And I get members of The Hive, The Fallen, and The Taken mixed up with a disturbing regularity.
Destiny factions are easy. Color code them by what happens when you shoot them in the head.
White = Fallen
Black = Cabal
Green = Hive
Disappeared = Taken
Lol that actually makes sense.
Yup it’s under covers like it’s being worked on
Bazinet's pretty old and lived through some rough times in the dark ages. I don't know who the photos would be of specifically, though.
I saw those the other day. Turned my graphics up and went into photo mode to see if I can make out what it said
Bazinet is mommy
space will niot be a problem lmfao. genshin has 7 or so regions each of which are significantly bigger than each zone in DR right now
Soon the dark
I know bro, i mainly play wuthering waves and its better than both of those games lol
yep
Weren't they working on instant planet teleportation in the story?
Probably and hopefully get the moon. Without the scarlet keep and leviathan in the skybox
The moon without the massive green crack
That too. (Number of times I've sparrow myself in that crack)
Alternately, get the moon as the green crack is happening.
lol
So, about this alternate timeline thing, we know they are aware of eachother. What “characters” might be multiversal? The IX are candidates, maybe the Gardner and Winnower if they are actual beings. Who else?
Xur for sure
The Vex in general seem to have potential in that regard.
where was that? Because the only time i saw a planet is by going to the elevator that took us to the space and the fact is that we needed an elevator to go to space in destiny is funny.
It was the quest for Donovan-17, IIRC. He mentioned using the thing we got him to teleport between planets.
Unless I misinterpreted him saying he could teleport "anywhere" with his device and he really just meant "anywhere on Earth."
But I thought the idea of planetary exploration was mentioned there too.
If that's a thing (portals) why they needed space elevators if there's portals than can take you to other places, the golden age is advanced in techs, they've built space stations and ships but can't even see a space ship, someone here mentioned that there's one in haven and its destroyed, in the end i wanna see the game's roadmap I don't want to get hyped about something that'll disappear in future or get rug pulled while waiting to see other destinations.
Theres other references to space travel occurring (plus we know that space travel is happening during this age from the original lore). Pandora talks about going to the moon, for example.
I'd also add that space elevators would still be incredibly useful even if you have jumpships.
^
Space elevators save massive amounts of resources and possibly time
Yup - especially if you intend on making large spacecraft.

Boon
Ok, 15 seconds this is acceptable I spose.
Anyways, what's Risings status when it comes to spaceships?
Do they have any? Or do we just have futuristic jets atm?
Interested since I miss the Moon and popping Hive skulls there
There's a spaceship under a cover in Haven, implying it's being worked on. We don't have NLS drives, though, that technology is still being rediscovered.
The best we can do right now is have Kevarrh bring us places, or in Radegast's case have Morgran teleport him.
So we're gonna have to do a rediscover NLS drive first before we get to the Moon
Also thank you Rat something whatever tf thise symbosl at the end are!
it's a rat
Ohhhhhhh, neath!
