He was made into an exo by bray to pay off debts he already was a guardian when he took on the exo program
He was hired as security to maya sanderesh
Took care of micah for bray aka the whole backstory of (ACE)
No im saying demon as in towards you
Ah
Hmm sus
Thats actual lore its in his books in the game
He was in hella debt clovis paid off his debts for him to be one of the first exos
As a human he was hired security which in finals shape we found out it was maya sanderesh which he fell in love with
And the kid he thought was his is micah 10 again lore in final shape and in books
Micah 10 is also the kid who wrote the letters to the trveler from europa (penguin toy lore)
Trust me i get nerdy with this lol
You know saying him being one of the first exos kinda disprove him already being a guardian given the fact lightbearers werent a thing until after the collapse
i dont think you can be made exo after becoming a guardian either
Yeah so he was clearly a normal human, became an exo, died and was or will be revived at some point
Well in cayde lore it seems that way 🤷 lore be wierd at times
But its the reason why the # after exos are a problem
Ghost can res exos and such but no thier memories or somthing which is why they have to be rebooted
Destiny lore to deep
yeah he was exo before guardian
Lord felwinters story is another trippy one
Anyway ugh i wanna play rising
ghosts resurrect the last reboot of an exo they arent rebooted if they are a guardian
But they cant like function without a reboot
if theyre a normal exo bro
So how does that work ghost cant just bring a robot back
I swear theres a lore about that whole issue i gotta find it
paracausality preserves the actual living person
Right there living person
Exo is mecanical
Yeah ghost brings back the guardian/lighbearer from a previous timeline yaddah yaddah that i know
exos have living minds, the ghost resurrects the being it doesnt have to be biological because paracausality removes constraints of physics
They can perfectly revive a human who frankly has no matter left, exos are just human conciousness in metal bodies hell a ghost could theoritically revive a transformer lol
Lmfao
a guardian exo does not suffer DER so therefore doesnt need to be rebooted
and they dont suffer DER, because they never remember being human to begin with as guardians dont remember their past lives
So then saint 14 was rebooted 14 times before becoming a guardian and cayde 6x before his res as well
🤔
Yes
yeah exactly that
Well guess there no limit to what a ghost can and cant do
To its own lightbearer anyway
Big sad when ghist told our guardian in forsaken while cayde was legit dying theres nothing i can do
false
Guess so haha i retract my previous statement
thanks you, lore police whatching here
There there
Lmfao oh no
even an aberation like Linear fusion rifle was implemented inside the game so ///
*an exemple to show some inacurate content knowing the lore
We went from cayde to a linear fusion rifle...what...confusion
it's just to show that even Dev team can do mistake
Aww i see but lore wise in this game isnt cannon so they could go wild
whow what ?
But then again in the main lore game theyre changing alot as well
no canon ? for real ?
Yeah that i can say isnt false its its been already said
damn , so they have to bring us a stand alone game ( solo player ) who we play saladin then
Ooo yeah dude forgot all about saladin hes one of the OG iron lords as well lol
wait whats being retconned in destiny 2
if you take the Arbalest exotic weapons in D2 , (and open the lore description script ) you can read a quote from the Wanderer saying : in Dark ages we do not have linear fusion rifle , instead we got this ! /
that mean in dark ages , they are suppose to fight without Linear fusion rifle .
I guess i should say it seems like they can just throw in somthing and make it make sence for the benefit of the expansion or story
the awoken should a thing as well in this universe so could we possibly see mara sov or uldren sov pre crow
Well at least theyre not throwing ace of spades at us with no cayde lol imagine attal with an ace lol
Alot of cannon characters that can possibly make an appearance as weve seen ikora drifter the whole cast of iron lords
Kabr which is from the vault of glass lore jolder which was one of the lords killed by siva
If 2 guardians do the bow chika wow wow could they have a kid
Hello, what time does the server open in LATAM Argentina?
Idk 2 hours ish
no their bodies are sterile
OK thanks
Nooo
When do servers go up???
I was about to say thats lore too lol
Cant have light bearing babies roaming around lmfao
But they be so cute
tell that to shin malphur lol
He was the only exception but he wasnt born one he was resd...which still makes no sence
By wards ghost then like hey wards dead but hey you get his gun and powers ...
Meaning powers can be transferred i guess
Ok so like brief rundown of story? Pls
Again lore be lore-ing lol
Speaking of lore
the last word was left to him by dredgen yor, or at least thats how shin interpreted that event, golden gun he channelled through the last word
I know why the "Queenbreaker" isn't called that in DRising
Yeah yor wanted to be out down he knew he was too far gone
Guess he say it in shin
again, thats up for contention i think it was his way of showing sword logic, he always let his victims fire first, jaren couldnt put him down so then yor fired, shin however? had the power
I think it took that name from d1 after the devils rebelled the awoken
Say that D2's and DRising's timelines did match up. DRising is closer to D1 in the timeline and the assassination attempt on Mara Sov didn't happen yet. So why call it that during the D1 timeline of things
True dont kill what cant fight back he waited untill shin could fire back guess shin was a better shot
also you cannot trust shin's tell of events since he is clearly coping with grief saying yor done it all for a reason, easier to accept it's a test given by yor than simply yor just wanted to kill jaren
Shin imo was mid crazy just starts the dregens low key just to kill corrupted guardians...thats dark
Shin was one of the founders of the shadows of yor if i remember correctly
yes he founded it to kill them
Yup
They couldve just named it breaker
But then again copyright reasons maybe lmfao
the drifter was in league with him hence why gambit even exists it's a test to see who falls and if you do, shin will kill you, which is why i said earlier shin malphur is as much a representation of sword logic as dredgen yor was
Yeah that i remember drifter legit made a deal with shin to not get clipped dredgen hope aka drifter he was a shadow as well
Which is why he made the exotic handcannon malfeasance in case yor didnt keep his side of the bargain
And wanted to recruit us to be on his side as insurance
you mean shin but yeah, malfeasance was made so guardians could team shoot shin and actually win that fight
i think the drifter should have a toyota so he can drift better
Yeah lol
Destiny rising -wu ming drift
See you out there brotha...trust
Ikora meeting pre hive eris would be dope
Eriana 3 toland pre hive eris
Lol cool to add youre funny
Titan Guardian/Lightbearer versus a Spartan II (so somebody like Master Chief). No space magic, and no suit. Would master chief win? I ask because I completely forgot my D1/D2 lore and am shamefully confused if guardians/lightbearers had any sort of super soldier-like augmentation to them apart from their suits and space magic.
Well in terms of strength a spartan is just a lightless titan
So somebody like Zavala or Radegast can probably go toe-to-toe with Master Chief? no space magic.
Saint 14 VS master chief id pay for that one
hell yeah... somebody should do some crossover story/animation...
A guy who just woke up with superpowers vs a supersoldier that can lorewise can bench a whole mountain, was trained from the age of six and has the most combat experience than any common human, idk you tell me.
Forgot to say, also that spantan are unnaturally very quick
Basically power of light but from there regular humans or robots if theyre exos lol
Fair point 😂 okay, I guess we can skip the newbie Titans xD Somebody like Saint-14 or any of the Titans that have been revived should be considered. Not us players.
Unless theyre trained but spartan wise titans would be a better match as a hunter main it would be like that scene from avengers with hulk and loki lol
Like reading the destiny's Bible in here.
Warlocks -spacemagic
Hunters-revolvers knives jumping
Titans-brute strength and punching lol
Destiny 2
Come brother join us around thy traveler lol
true.. and if the Halo live-action series were any indication to canon material, they scale terrain like it's nothing.
It could be very close, because as I know so far, lightbearers are not genetically superhuman, magic compensates for that, so in a fight saint 14 better finish it as quick as possible, because Spartans besides impressive strength and skills they are also very precise and they have superhuman reflexes, in fact they can react alot faster than any person with favored human genetics, in fact they are a class of their own if you ask me.
Destiny lore is what made me keep coming back for 7years sadly cant say the gameplay lol
But rise gameplay ...it just might
If I would read any lore. It would be from POE.
Path of Exile
So many cool characters and rising was just that extra sauce we needed gwynn alone bro...
Rising was the whole dressing
Facts
Rising is what edge of fate shouldve been instead we get a new sandbox every week dry ol expansion and a mid story
so I guess the lightbearer name does sort of give it away... xD guardians need the light to perform any superhuman feat. I have to adjust the scenario in my mind then 😂
It'll have to be guardians/lightbearer WITH the light versus Spartans. Ah well.. gonna continue imagining it while I work. Thanks guys.
Light bearers are just resurrected folks ..guardians are the names of the soldier lightbearers from the vanguard
Which i dont think the vanguard was a thing yet in this universe since there is no last city just haven
I have 2 years since I touched destiny 2 and rising is what made me come back only for that, the chinese cooked so hard without needing to even spend so much effort, only if bungie did the same😔 😔
Seriously
thats the thing with the light i feel a lightbearer easily beats master chief
Bungie is just lazy final shape was thier last hoorah that expansion was good
its a shame cause lore wise edge of fate is great but sucks every other way
Of course it depends as i said, Spartans are freaks of nature according to the books.
Not even nature, more like science
But spartans are basically captn america when guardians are superman so yeah
any experienced lightbearer wins i only see master chief beating new lights
and even then can he destroy the ghosts? probably not so they just revive anyway
Ghosts were meant to be this crazy lightforce now anybody can shoot em forsaken nerfed ghosts lol
Master chef could prob crush em witch queen style
that was done with a devourer bullet so it wasnt a nerf it is literally why dredgen yor could kill guardians too
I mean do lightbearers know cqc or anything a modern military could thought them? Or maybe just maybe, do they know how to react as fast as a Spartans because I can only see this going in 2 ways, either the lightbearer ragequits or the spartan is doing some Leon S. Kennedy movement to avoid all the attacks.
he isnt paracausal so probably not, i always interpreted that as us being able to reach into its light due to being paracausal
Remember that scene with crow zavala and caityl
Didnt they just shoot it and zavala collapsed
bro a lightbearer simply nova bombs the area no cqc needed
Facts tho 🤣
Idk how spartan reaction can counter that, all tactics are allowed i guess
And the whole devour bullet thing it seemed like a norm bullet from that scourne that killed sundance
How to unlock gwynn anyone help me pls
yeah i was going off the argument of the lightbearer is allowed to use the light, since without it its a stompfest to master chief, but likewise with light master chief gets stomped theres no middle ground lol
Master chief would just slap your ghost once with a sidearm 💀
Was that ever in lore ? Yeah yor had light eating hive magic bullets make sence i mean hive wizards legit eat light but didnt seem that way in prison of elders
no it was a devourer bullet it was cinfirmed
I mean... with space magic and light augmentation, I too would doubt master chief can win 1-on-1 with an experienced/battle-hardened guardian. So, in my mind (and when I posted the question earlier) I had stripped the guardians off any space magic/abilities. They have only their strength and super-human physicality as a result of the light. At least, this is the scenario I am playing right now in my mind, and man what a battle 🔥
only titans have superhuman strength so yh i recommend you use a titan for this scenario
That would be like d1 before you get your abilities
Yes yes, indeed Titans. Saint-14 to be exact.
I never played halo but how is this even a question if a newbie guardian can beat a 800 pound cabal by punching it to death
Oh snap yup i see it
ghosts require tremendous amounts of force to be killed, or paracausal bypasses like devourer rounds or the darkness itself
It was a devourer bullet as in the same as thorn crazy wonder where they got it
i forgot how they got it but yh they did
Drifter Maybe
The same way chief and many lower ranking Spartans can take care of the many superior species that are around
In Halo of course
Valid question, thing is Spartan II (of which Master Chief was part of) was sort of the Titan equivalents of the spartan program. They strong. Like really ... really strong. Probably not as strong as "The Greatest Titan Who Ever Lived" my man Saint-14.. but I was wondering how Master Chief (the most known, but not the strongest Spartan II) could hold his own.
Prob sold em one i mean if he was a shadow at some point he had a thorn
impressively well id say
Since the trickster rolled with drifter at one point
Chief ain't a rookie that's for sure
So could he first fight a cabal?
Thats more of a fair fight imo
thats the main similarity between the guardian and master chief they both keep winning in fights with odds stacked against them
Master Chief? ehhmm... I can definitely say he can. But, how effective (and how fast he can take em down), I would refer to the live-action halo series where he fought arbiter, and if that is any indication, then he'd fair pretty good I'd say.
but one-punching em... yeah, maybe not.
No? Master chief is technically just lucky and a bit good at everything, the fact that he is alive right now is both plot armor and luck which tbh his luck is already magic on itself because what he survives is the impossible of course cortana did a bunch that ensured his survival so all by himself? It's difficult to say.
How about the hive vs doomguy?
hot dang, that's next on the epic stuff playing on my mind.
Let's not forget spartan 2s are very few and many of them died during the war.
that is cinema
true
Nah too overkill, doomguy is above whatever destiny can offer ngl
Weren't y'all just talking about paracausal bullets from the hive or something lol
forgot about Cortana. She does play an essential role in Master Chief's survival. In the live-action, I think she was even instrumental in enable him to go beyond his limits.
pray for cayde 6 new character
isnt that the point of doom its just overkill
Don't look at the live action for lore, lorewise yes contana is one basic reason why chief is still alive.
Yea, bro killed himself to kill more demons in the afterlife, he is what saint would've want to be
So it's not 1-to-1 with game canon? Man I really got get up to speed in the Halo gameverse.
Btw I have an actual lore question the hypotheticals got me thinking and I actually don't know how many fallen and cabal are there in the solar system? And how many humans are left?
The lore of the tv show is very different that it could count as fanfiction.
exactly doomguy is peak titan fantasy
Games and books are the real source of the real fun.
Imagine a destiny tv show
I wouldn't trust bungie with the script tbh
Nah it gonna be made by netease
I haven't gone too far into DRIsing campaign to see any indication of those numbers. Would be good to know if there were any space-faring humans too, or any that turned into something else like the Awoken in D1/D2.
Cabal and fallen hmm millions probably billions
Hope that we won't see neomuna in the future
Why not i love that place
The place looked cool ngl but I don't want to see it again, especially the terrifying cyborg looking guys, just no.
the place in Lightfall dlc? Dang... I stopped D2 just before that expansion. 😭
What those guys are Great
They look creepy dude, and especially nimbus, I regret even buying that dlc, if they put nimbus as a character i can draw in the future, I am leaving.
Scared of nimbus thats certaintly new
i enjoyed rohan and nimbus
He looks like a teenager that was on steroids and then they overstretched the body to its absolute limits, and besides that the dialogue gave me a tumor.
Server still not open does anyone know how long it will open ?
28 min
There there he cant hurt you... Yet
Just saw the images.. hmm, they do look creepy. I personally would need to fight one to change my all-time scare from this game... For me, it was always those dang hive. And I'm not talkin about those lazy slow poke Knights, or those wizards. It's those Thrall that give me the hibby jibbies. Like whenever it gets silent and dark in a cave? You know thrall fight night's about to get down.... tbh, and I say this with all shame... it's probably one of the reasons why I stopped playing D2.. not the main reason, but it's there, included in my list.
😭 😭 😭
You guys have some weird takes in whats scary in destiny
Democracy is beautiful ain't it?
Probably
Ngl, the hive always looked fine as heck
Ooh someone's got a type
my guy... I... am a scaredy cat. xD I am. I have never every played a horror game willfully in my life. The closest was/is Destiny, and maybe The Last Of Us. And I had to play that game in between days to just reset the scare factor (and only played it because of the tech marvels I wanted to see for myself). For Destiny, what can I say, I love the space setting and guns.. but those Thralls? They can stay buried xD
Don't tell me you wouldn't smash Savathun? Let's be reasonable adults here.
Not really
If by "Smash Savathun" you mean "Kill her with a Titan Thundersmash for all the horrific crimes and genocides she caused" then yeah I'd smash Savathun
Heres a small problem i have a baby actually a cat but still a baby named savathun so i refuse to do anything to something called savathun
Nah bruh wtf? First of all no second of all no
To be fair, Thrall Are scary. Just ask Vel Tarlowe
Lol
Dude thought "I'm a titan that's immortal, I can take a horde of thrall" Dude got permaate.
The main reason Thrall aren't scary is because we are overpowered demigods with lighting and fire and void powers, and know they exist to boot.
Imagine you are Random Janshi Metro Gurella guy, you get sent on a mission to kill some dregs only to find their eaten remains and wonder what could have done this, only to see a horde of space zombies crawl out the walls and charge you
for me it's the witness, or more specifically the leading consciousness of the witness
The scariest thing in destiny is i dont know the deralic maybe
Isn't he a compressed can of souls? So what consciousness if he is a collective hivemind of multiple consciousnesses
the leading one, as in the member of the precursor race who made this happen, since it was a governing body called the penitent that formed them into the witness
Hey guys new here. Quick question Abt the lore: what is the relationship between rising and d1&2? Like rising storyline happening after d1&2?
its an alternate timeline but serves as prequel too somewhat
To us, 10 thrall on a charge is nothing, just shoot em or toss some kind of light grenade.
To a Mortal, some kind of messed up space zombie horde from a horror movie just showed up and are now eating Tim.
Thank you! That makes sense
So let me get this straight, he sacrificed all his species just to hunt down an oversized magic ball? Bruh
what i find scary is such a mind existed to see that as a good solution, and finality as this mathematical stillness that no life, or chaos thrives it is only shaped such obsession with control is reminiscent of the psyche of a serial killer, not only that the way the witness (penitent voices) cut other parts of it out of the collective psyche, because they arent fit for the final shape, also the way it formed the dread is horrifying
TLDR it's all about perspective. What is not scary to us can be scary to another. Hell, I think cursed thrall aren't scary untill I don't see one coming ahnd THEN I go AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
But he wanted to turn everyone into pizza slice statues too
also the way the witness speaks is equally soothing as it is uncomfortable
Friends, why did you turn off the servers?
Very colorful statues
brett dalton killed it as the witness
To me the scariest thing in destiny is the RNG on good/bad fireteam finder teammates
He sounds like Ulysses from New vegas with a smooth voice.
Makes perfect sense when you put it that way. Thrall should only amount to ants when compared to any lightbearer. Still, no jumpscares pls 😂
the hive music kicking in every time made me jam out tho crota's theme is a banger
yes, this exactly. same slams table
I’d take em like 20 mins to kill a guardian but the jump scare is still there
Yeah like I say it's all about perpsective. We have power and basicaly cannot die. Charging thrall is a chance to try out our melee ability.
For Mortal Steve, it's 28 Days Later.
I remember being petrified of the thrall in the first few missions of D1
Personally, destiny 2 is not that scary, mostly mild Jumpscares and atmosphere, only the lore does a job in some parts at being scary but overall scary as a game its not.
i find it kinda funny how lore says hive knights' chitin is hardened through centuries of war, and victory so all that fighting to strengthen through sword logic just for me to mag dump them with some blue AR i picked up while leveling
Reminds me the thousand folded katanas of the Japanese only to be outclassed by superior materials from the west lol
Destiny 2 was not that scary, unless you had the good luck to play the Alien inspired mission or go facr TREV-4, those were both terrifying
yh exactly lol
Or unless you read the Lore and know that the 8 foot tall dragon in Last Wish can literaly unmake you
No shot, how they get folded like lawn chairs
There were only a few really scary stuff for me on Destiny 2, and I am pretty sure it's one or all those mentioned here 😂 I was that of a wuss to even remember the mission names.
but yeah, D2 in general, not a scary game.
I mean sure a dragon can anyway unmake you by eating you up.
yh i believe its on a grimoire card in destiny 1
We just remake ourselves
But like, Vestern iron was also folded. That’s how we get wrought iron. They just had worse iron to start with
or the aphelion
Now it starts adding up, d1 was a different time (never played it)
oh nah in d1 they got folded too lmao
Time's I gopt scared in D2:
the Alien Inspiried mission where you have Ciatal and Osisis on comms.
The Zero Hour bit with TREv-or specifalty
This one only lore nuts who played Forsaken would have been terrfired by, but: When "Mara" was heard calling Uldren "Oh Brother mine". I swear that my guardian got a 200% haste boost that day
Yea, personally can't stand the arguments weebs try to make like animes are the real representation of what samurais were, when in reality they would get destroyed by a western mercenary by the equipment alone
bro the ahamkara are the scariest and most fascinating parts of destiny
Is that presage??
Also adorable
Samurai vs 50cal isn’t a fair fight tho
I wanted to slap Wolf when he said that thing in Veridia.
Baby Ahamkara are the cutest. Morgran looks so squishable
I meant western mercenaries from the same age, not today.
fr they got everything
"A war machine to destroy The Cabal? Hah, I wish!"
BRO YOU ARE LIERTALY SURRONUNDED BY AHAMKARA BONES
Yeah, the japanize managed to get pretty ok weapons from mostly magnetic sand. Still folds like a hive knight
LOL
Yeah no Wolf said that and I went "WHY WOULD YOU SAY THAT EVEN AROUND A DEAD ONE???"
Man, no wonder the Vnaguard ordered them all hunted, the amount of guardians making casualc wishes in casual conversation would have killed us all long before the Witness ever coyuld
Then I read the lore that the vex structures weren't there last week and just went "Woooooolfffffffff!!!"
Instead I thought that I was going to get the sweet business to gun down the cabal
«I wish for a god roll» steals shax’s gun mid match
The Ahamkara might not be pure evil evil depending on who yiou ask, but they do otherwise forfill the evil genine trope of "I WILL corrpt your wish"
Honestly. Only thing keeping Morgran from accidentally wreaking havoc (because he can't help what he is, he needs to eat) is his willingness to abide by the restrictions imposed by Radegast and feed through the hunting grounds instead
I’d say they just like monkeys pawing for sport
In fact, I think they kinda have to monikey's paw tbh.. Morgren didn't bother deigning where the Super Shank woyuld go, so it went to bother him.
Or at least that's my interpretation
There's always a cost to a wish, and if the Ahamkara isn't careful they will pay it, so they fob it off to someone else
Taranis is an example of an Ahamkara who didn't twist wishes, and instead protected those who made bargains with him, but the trade off was that they were less nourishing. They gave him what he needed and nothing more so he grew far slower than others. At least if I read his lore right. He was an enigma among Ahamkara.
Morgren could have probably sent it to attak Haven in a week to pay off the cost, but intead he just went "Eh, I don't care where it goes" so it messed him up instead.
It would be a cool raid or smth were a young ahamkara dosent know this and wishes a bunch of times themselves
I actually felt so bad for him, man. And even while literally starving to death, he still abided by the restrictions. Which means he respects Radegast heavily because he was in rough shape because of it and had every reason to break those restrictions to save himself. Instead he came to us for help
Yep, that's why I went out of my way to that quest. Morgren has my respect, he's a real one
They'd die. That's how Taranis died. He granted his own wish.
Would make for some interesting plot though
I wish there were 50 of me, the first one dies and now you have 48 wishes to use on anything
Unless the other 48 use one to wish the rest of you out of existance because ahamakara are snakes
There is no good way to get a wish out of a Ahamkara. usualy.
I am new to Destiny itself, any recommendations for learning the lore?
He wished to save his and Riven's clutch. 9 eggs out of the original 49 (the 40 being rhe cursed omelet of the dreaming city) survived and are now under vanguard care, as we made a promise to Riven to protect them. Which means baby Ahamkara raised to have Morgran's manners
Ishtar collective.
ooooh, good question
But yeah, what Fel said tbh, good place
ALL of the lore is kept there and you won't get fluff or theory crafting interspersed in
One of my main gripes with byf
Thanks guys
No problem!
I am here for Gwynn / Attal lore
Gwynn's truth mission was well emotional
BYF is good for a general overview of things but just read lore entries on Ishtar. If you’re made of money you can buy the books (each loosely covers one race each)
@strange frigate yes
Hi
Good day welcome to the dusty section
According to lore, Kabr have used to "safari" wild Ahamkara with team, Jolder is technically THE champion of Iron Lords and Saladin inspiration figure.
About character that can be put in the game and stayed lore & time accurate you have :
-Shin Malphur
-Lady Efridite
-Sai motta
-Eriana 3
-Dredgen Yor
So many other
So reading through the lore for the returning exotics, it looks like all the returning weapons were ones that some group stole from alternate timelines from different parts of the main Destiny timeline
Ie timelines where Amanda never survived the trip to the city and one where Spider was killed by the Queen’s forces
Not sure how I feel about the alt timeline stuff since this virtually fits right into pre D1 lore
Even down to each character having their own super, hell that's more accurate than the games themselves
I think a lot of the story beats break too much of Destiny’s pre-city lore to fit in
The entire story kinda contradicts the Iron Lords lore
Good evening, I'm a player from Russia. After completing technical work, I can't download the update because of slow internet speeds or game crashes during the download process. Please help me identify the issue.
Maybe. I'll have to go digging through the grimoire again, but so far I don't see too many discrepancies
Jaren Ward descent to Dredgen would be an interesting experience
Wait what about the iron lords does it contradict exactly
Most directly, a lot of Lord Radegast’s personality and role is pretty different, with him having an ahamkara (which shouldn’t look like Riven) and moving away from Felwinter’s Peak
Idk exactly the time frame but I think vostok/peak is still under the control of a warlord. I dont believe radegast was ever really fleshed out besides he was the "leader" of the group
I’m pretty sure there was a line early on that establishes that Radegast leaves Vostok after finding the Traveller’s location
Also the main Destiny Speaker was known to be around during this point in the timeline
I'll look deeper into it eventually, guess im just so used to D2's garbo i forgot the majority of the supercut
I'm pretty sure there is a help channel you can ask someone in
Location wise I dont even ever think we got a clear answer but going from both d1 and d2 the Traveller is situated above central europe ish because it isn't visible over the cosmodrome sky box which is Kazakhstan, and in scourge of the past raid one of the buildings says Schnell on it - German for go
there's some lines in Destiny that hint the Traveller/City is located in South America, since Amanda (who's definitely from the Southern US) had to cross the Panama ravine, and she and Hawthorne mention having to "cross the pond" when going between the EDZ and the City
The Last City is in South America
i think specifically it's hinted to be Chile
the dialogue mentions about 12,000 miles between Haven and Jiangshi, which would support the idea that Haven is also where the City will be, though the architecture of the Old City makes me wanna say that Rising's Traveller is in Europe.
can we take a moment to appreciate Attal's VA? like... goddamn
Attal being a Arc lightbearer threw me off lol, her design and personality gives very "Solar"
yeah it was a bit shocking
Strange, because in destiny 1 and 2 the signs in the towers are in English, Portuguese and Chinese. Chaperone's D1 grimiore card made no reference of the Panama ravine either
Wouldn't put it past them that they retconned it
I'd assume that they hadn't really decided where to put it at the time, since D1 went through an entire lore rewrite before launch
Of course, and I mean Old Chicago and the EDZ were originally part of the supercut to begin with
Just seems a little convinient none of the playable earth area is south America plus how tf a shard get to the EDZ 😂
I think they actually mention that the Fallen don't mess with South America because of parasites lmao
True but what about scourge of the past
Scourge was a targetted strike by Kell's Scourge, kinda like the Fallen conducting a raid
it’d be funny if years into this games life cycle they start building “a new tower” or something that eventually becomes the og destiny tower
I am in the last city actually im not
Does the game take place in the same universe as destiny 1 and 2?
I thought the whole game was an alternate timeline hence there being some stuff that we have seen before and other stuff we have not?
yeah i think it is too but i have someone in my server telling me its not a diferant timeline and i feel like im beeing lied to lol
"Destiny: Rising delivers a brand-new adventure set in an alternate Destiny timeline, exploring a narrative in the post-Dark Age era. Featuring a diverse roster of characters, each with unique abilities and stories, Destiny: Rising offers players dynamic and challenging single, co-op, and competitive multiplayer gameplay, including beloved game modes familiar to Destiny players, and all-new modes that introduce new ways to play Destiny."
and my thaught exactly the travelers speaker is a little girl in this universe whereas in d1 and d2 its a full grown man
gotta wait for a dev or someone official to clerify this for us all
That thing I posted was from the games website.
It's several hundred years before when D1 or D2 would've taken place.
It's an alternate timeline set just after the dark ages. The Speaker in D1/D2 was mortal.
As ninjapikkles posted, the official copy for the game directly states it's an alternate timeline.
There's also quests and other in-game lore, such as exotic lore tabs, that talk about it being an alternate timeline.
It would be funny if we got an Elsie Bray cameo at some point considering she hopped a LOT of timelines before coming to the main Destiny timeline
I imagine if she ever becomes a limited character, like there's demand for, her character quest will be all about that
Only thing is that she doesn’t have a ghost and she can’t really get one if they wanna make her the Elsie that eventually makes her way to the main timeline
is wu ming canonically a chinese texan
Yup, that's definitely something that would need to be figured out.
There's also demand for characters like Sjur Eido, who is just fully mortal. Doesn't even have a fun little fish.
At least for Sjur Eido the decision to make her a lightbearer can be contained to this timeline
That would make stuff with Mara very interesting
Part of me thinks its a translation error frankly. That page stating its an alternative timeline doesn't actually exist on the Chinese site so I can't see what the word would be that they use in that area, but I tried the translation myself and there doesn't seem to be a direct one
In truth though destiny 2 already retconned some things well established so I dont care either way
the developer preview also directly states an alternate timeline
Ok
ultimately Rising contradicts wayy too much lore to ever really consider any of it canon, and i don't think Netease or Bungie want eachother touching their timelines too much anyway
They did this in Rivals too, with pretty much every version of the characters available being their own variant
I'm still cheesed about a particular controversial retcon in d2 so
Marvel already had like 50 timelines for each character to go off of to be fair but yea
i'm not sure what retcon you're talking about but Destiny also established multiple timelines with the Paraverse
Saint 14 and Osiris...
Was platonic until after beyond light ish
Then they started writing basically entire seasons about their romance and I just dont gaf
i feel like that's more a writing issue than the retcon itself imo
i feel like it makes sense for Osiris & Saint to be a couple considering Osiris literally broke space/time for Saint and Destiny's always been pretty prominent with queer rep in the series
True, the writers have been asleep at the wheel for a while, but the retcon is particularly egregious because they were battle brothers - Osiris didn't get all lovey dovey when we found s14's grave in dialogue, then all of a sudden later on he's like omg can't live without u like bruh
Yah but that rep only came after the newer writers was hired - conveniently when that aspect of the charscter was introduced
i mean the rep was there for a long time, Mara has been canonically bi for a long time
Never made any mention of romance during the sundial stuff either, was before that time
Mara yes, devrim yea
Saint and Osiris? No
rn i'd assume they just have their VAs available for whatever reason
like how Ana suddenly got a lot of content after they recast her va with someone more available
Yea
They recast ikora like 3 times now
I didn't check but I stg arent they using savathun's VA for ikora now?
Not in rising in d2 that is
I think that specifically was because of the voice actor strike
didn't want a repeat of season of the Deep where some characters straight up had unvoiced dialogue
I haven't played in a bit because I'm essentially convinced d2 is cooked and has been for a bit, but ultimately it was pretty funnny
True
Like bruh they adding plaguelands back. Who asked???
plaguelands without the plague
Lands
We want new content not recycled stuff 24/7
Frrrrrr
Net ease paid 100 million dollars for the license and is probably paying additionally in royalties. Bungie isn't publicly traded but Sony is so their next quarterly report will be interesting i think because if Sony determines they make more money off of those said royalties than D2 itself, there ain't much point in keeping bungie around
They need to do the event where the iron lords get stuck with Siva to finish the game
has anyone managed to unlock Gwynn's "Meeting Attal" entry? Hasn't unlocked for me
She could be one who wields the Darkness (Ie. Stasis) as that doesn't require a Ghost. But we could also get Anastasia Bray, who is a Lightbearer.
Just level up gwynn
Her super weapons lv etc itll unlock eventually
this specific entry requires me to complete Attal's Haunting in Haven quest but I've already finished her and Gwynn's entire Journey
bro harrow is such a corn ball character
Just did Kabr's questline and... Goddammit Kabr
Did noone ever teach you to confirm target before you started shooting
Any idea why I can't access the diary or journey tabs for Wolf?
Will they have more raids? I hope they do similar expansion style releases like destiny with more story, strikes and raids, minus the 80 dollar pricetag
The hive are really cool I'd like a story about them, or the vex
We are naturally getting more raids
We have already seen and witnessed his journey
The IR anuke (cant spell crotas sister) and the main hive misson was amazing, and the vex misson, they was they best
yall dont be skipping the cutscenes?
wait so if there's mythic charas... are there exotic charas? /j
Osiris is probably exotic class
Not yet but perhaps at some point
A question, who's the voice that was calling for harrow in the after credits scene?
They really named that dude “Kyle”
osiris and saint
don't trust a Kyle
i literally laughed so hard when gwynn said his name
Me tooooo! I took a screenshot and had to share it without context in another discord server I lurk in.
I finally got the Crowther & Fans text today and am dying
I like kyle he was Great writen
yeah, honestly i think the best writing has come from all the character quests
Hey we are perfectly trustworthy in real life! But definatyely don't trust any fictional kyle
When shaxx pulls up as a playable character in game i dont think im using anyone else
I wonder if taniks will show up
Taniks has no house. He kneels before no banner - owes allegiance to no Kell. He is a murderer, and very good at what he does.
I got a question destiny rising timeline is like way before the reef wars
... You know i wanna disagree but i cant
it's an alternate timeline and I don't remember the amount of time between the Reef Wars and the Last City
When the eliksni woman turns into a guardian i main her
Fair enough would be interesting if we encounter pre-scorn fikrul
they say the timeline is alternative but ultimately there are some parallels and to an extent the reef wars went on for a while even in the main game. Twilight Gap hasn't happened yet but it happens concurrently with that
I almost feel like it's a Vex simulation because I see packs of Gwynns and Tan-2s running around everywhere
...You know, I was wondering: Do we even know if the Awoken EXIST in this universe? Only person I've seen who might be an Awoken is Skorri, and considering Skorri's persobnality, i WOULD in fact beleive she painted her skin blue for the sake of expression.l
Umeko (who isn't in the full game yet) is an awoken
That would imply the Vex have better rolls unfortunately
Look all we know is that destiny takes place sometime after the year 2170 aka the golden age which is a legit year give in a quest
Also she is a void hunter
Fair enough, I can only go on what I've seen in game so far so did not know that
I like to imagine future story update will be us making first contact with the reef and probably helping the awoken against the wolves
Plus if the awoken didn't exist then the reef wouldn't and we'd be cooked by house of wolves come twilight gap
If the event of Destiny happened in IRL which timeline would you think would happen
Well idk
I wonder how rising will incorporate the witness and the taken
Well, for starters, in real life I don't think even a golden age is gonna fix things like racism, so probably the one where we all die in the Collapse because Savathun's loyazl this timeline.
Probably will barely mention the witness
Hopefully i become ascendant i mean a totally Nice guardian yees
But this is an AU so I can see an appearance of the taken
It probably won't, both of those are light/dark saga concepts and way ahead of this time anyway
That would be bad if we grab oryx attention early before last city is established
Wouldnt it be funny if we killed xivu much much earlier in rising
Speaking of Hive stuff, is there any mention of Eris Morn before she lost her ghost in rising
no Eris yet from what I've seen
Of course, if I was feeling optomistic about our species coming together in the travlerl's light and whatnot, and we assume things go the same up to the city age... I think the Endless Night gets us
but I'm also not an alpha/beta player
That i can see. Her fireteam got cooked when they went into the hellmouth - but even this is kinda much in the future
I hope we’ll get warlord antagonists in future updates
Yeah
Maybe we'll get a Moon campaign and Eris Morn will be playable
that's because Gwynn didn't exist there... she's accidentally got that Sword Logic
In the future obviously
Yes but we have something main destiny doesn't have which is this form lol
Oh yeah
ultimate Gundam form
When gwynn gonna get one
I've seen some theories that we'll get that form for wolf as a separate pull but I don't see rn
When we getting master character quests
Perhaps it be a exotic wolf
Yeah I mean officially speaking Praedyth has already been mentioned and by proxy Pahanin, but obviously since Kabr is a playable character he can't be killed off which is much before hellmouth attempts im p sure
I hope we meet toland and see him go tin foil hat on wolf
Spinfoil hat*
I mean with the vex simulation theory if they kill Kabr off more clones will just take his place
Kabr spawns more clones than Ning Fei because of the Vex now... lol
I noticed the sentinel's face is very similar to an exo
If toland heard about what gwynn did he be all like "no no no! You were supposed to ascend why did you kill that hive wizard you utter bombling fool!"
Anyone else went "oh snap... ." at seeing the vex having a proper pressnces on earth?
Looks like bray
Perhaps but if they ever even bother divulging the timeline differentiation they'll more likely use the idea that this particular timeline is one Elisabeth Bray saw was inevitably gonna get cooked
I just thought "oh cool"
all she knows is ripping and tearing until it is done
I thought about how doomed earth is in this timeline
Yeah true
Ikr
We've seen Osiris in DR
Like bro it is a actual Vex terra forming pressnces on earth' thats not good when you see what they did to mercury
yee and nice
Imagine he is just trying to warn us that we're all doomed
Eh seen is kinda to much we blurred osiris
likly yeah given even Radaghast did't want us go chasing the hive
maybe they didn't want the general public to know because they'd get all weird like Drifter
Radagast is so dumb in the campaign ngl
true, bro had a falling out with Saladin
The Vex arent fully fleshed out even in the main game, but they've been hinted that they basically are trying to stop us from messing stuff up - i can't remember many details other than this is why they arent always hostile because the stuff that is supposed to happen they will directly let happen - and also why they didn't initially target people like Lodi. Them being on earth suggests something is already cooked
I dont trust the bar keeper he seem to human
i think it's implied that basically all timelines except for the main one messed up
I just imagine we'll get to play as Radagast and Saladin far in the future
all the AI voices point to this being siiiiimulaaaaatedddd
You think the world of destiny rising could survive until they reach the time of d1
since the lore tabs for the returning exotics also mention a lot of key characters are dead in other timelines, with Amanda and Spider being dead in certain timelines
I'm convinced everyone who sounds like AI just had too much vex milk in their cereal
Yea, its been mentioned almost directly im pretty sure. The Vex are somewhat a wrench in the whole ordeal until they give us a proper explanation of their intent
yeah, also lowky i hate Harrow.... and i just met her
how harrowing an experience it was to meet Harrow
Harrow legit thinks the vex will help when the vex fricking attack wolf
bro for real?!!!! and she already like "ugh you won't understand why i abadoned the people who electected me as their leader"
this timeline might make it to the city age but with how weak the lightbearers of this timeline seem to be i don't think we're making it past the Great Disaster
perhaps
Eh I mean Wolf is technically a Guardian now so maybe we have a chance
a .01% chance is still a chance
If other lightbearers become full blown guardians like wolf
i mean Wolf is only a guardian by name and if Kabr doesn't get his butt in the Vault of Glass the vex are gonna end us real fast
Were cooked we got the sand eaters established on earth, house of devils doing their thing, hidden swarm prepping and the friggin vex which is always a bad sign
We haven’t even seen the house of kings or the other scout legions
also we have no idea what the Awoken are up to
And a potential full strenght house of wolves
Plot twist uldren is already a guardian
I bet gwyn could handle the hive situation singlehandedly
Technically was true in the supercut
She did use sword logic against that wizard right?
Gwynn seems to be more interested in fighting lighbearers
Ms. Accidentally has Sword Logic would absolutely slay
The only awoken we have is Umeko (I'm not counting that freaky lady) who isnt even in the game yet
Hmm idk maybe
she rejected the sword logic
she got pumped full of it for a minute
Oh yeah there’s Clovis too wonder what he up too since Europa should be free of anything since no salvation
also we already made Crota mad
Did she?
Can’t wait for Crota earlier end
Crota poor guy
when she pairs up with Ikora, her dialogue is "What do you know of Sword Logic?" or something
Uh oh
We made crota mad before we traveled to the moon XD
Maybe we get to do the thousand guardians vs crota moment
Excision mission
1,000 babies vs 1 adult
Crota is the gorilla in that experiment
More like hippo
That assuming crota isn’t bringing his other top dogs like omnigul and sardok
The thousandth guardian forcing him to his throne world 😭
Would it be funny if one of the cabal legions were on the moon say like skyburners
Has anyone started a wiki with all the voiceover lines from the playable characters yet?
it looks like Destinypedia is starting to add Rising-specific pages
there's already one for the Hidden Swarm
I realized rising hidden swarm colors are grey not red wonder why
I think it depends on the Hive brood
If the moon isn't the first place we travel outside of earth then we'll probably go to venus
i might start writing up the pages for Rising as I find them
I check the hidden swarm page who tf is Iltaurus, the Pillager
maybe some boss from one of the missions?
blehhh I haven't played D2 in over a year so I am missing some lore
Don't worry you haven't missed much
I played d2 until witch queen
Games been in shambles for a while
I kept up with the lore through byf until heresy
I stopped playing when they were doing mass layoffs
Witch Queen was pretty good, Lightfall was dogwater - originally lightfall was supposed to be the final dlc
Imagine if he arrived
technically Final Shjape was what lightfall was originally
Yes
Beyond light was kinda boring and frankly the worst 2020 dlc
My spinfoil hat tells me lightfall and Final Shape were originally one DLC. Root of Nightmares was borderline dungeon easy
I liked the raid but yea it was mid
I done zero raid
Can’t wait if he speak English there should be a gag where taniks will get progressively angrier every repeat encounter
Lol
incoherent screaming
When I say dungeon easy its not that i dislike easy mechanics its just it seemed like it was modified for 6 people
The traveler is dormant in DR right? Does that mean the black heart exists at this moment?
Some are good some are eh
I've only done the deep stone crypt raid
What if wolf is the creator behind gjallahorn
That would be cool
Indeed i love that but i love it more if he created exotic swords
I did vow, kings fall, vog, deep stone
I just wanna see where murderhobo Gwynn goes, and if she gets tempted by more power or something
Also if it does exist will the exo stranger ever show up
Possibly, but either way it wasn't explained very well and the whole Veil stuff is still rough in my head, i just remember the black heart was essentially retconned in lightfall as a failed Veil replication
Those are the good ones, also I liked scourge and eater of worlds
And gambit of salvation
Omg imagine playable banshee with lament
less braindead Banshee ftw
Oh right yeah we wished the Vex onto earth bro we are cooked
I just realized that
The vex are here cuz of harrow so she screwed us all
Imagine crota becoming a guardian in rising
Hahhhah
I mean to be fair, Harrow makes it very clear she didn't wanna do ANYTHING
I mean more loot for us
Witch Queen except it's Crota
And in the early city age
She just heard a earpeicing voice in her head and whoops now the vex are here because she granted his wish
Ik
So the Dead Ahamkara is to blame, and also probably not as dead as we'd like
Yees
Yea dead ones persist
Imagine someone wishes Harrow doesn't exist and she phases out of existence
Hefnd
And she accidentally grants that wish
i hope we get Shin Malphur as a character tbh
Think that's almost a definite
it'd probably be either him or Ana for giving us a Golden Gun super
Character quest would be you going to cook dredgen yor
Nah defo shin im pretty sure its like canonically his
yeah but then the whole relic system becomes weird since his golden gun is literally his gun
I'd say Ana since her GG canonically leaves pools of light which would be a good mechanic
Don't think it would be an issue considering The Last Word is what his gun actually is - but in d1 it uses that model to begin with and in 2 the rapid fire one is that model also - 3 shot is hawkmoon iirc
Dredgen should be the villain
Its more that the confusion of the relic usually not being tied to what primary weapon they use in gameplay
And they can’t really lock us into using TLW
Unless they pull a Kabr and make us use an auto rifle or smtn and TLW be our ability
I get you yea but I think since its clear the abilities are a lot more unique in game his relic could be the abilities like a fan fire or something
Even Ikora has a relic for whatever reason
I have no idea about what Ikora's relic is
Also it says she was revived in North Africa for some reason? Weird since she died in the US
Yea idk. That should be the same since she died in like the 70's lmao
Alternate Universe side effect or something
Still laughed when u first got revived and Wolf magically got his armor
Has anyone completed Tan-2's questline yet? I completed it in the Alpha but forgot pretty much everything except that Yannick-11 is part of Tan-2's brain or something
Complete with Lord decals and everything like what
Yea goofy ahh relic had warlord brain in it and when he picked it up it interfaced with him cuz he also exo
Oh yeah lol
Then Yannick-11 tries to take over Tan-2 completely or something
Well it was more cuz he was fed up with how long he was taking to kill blokes so he took over to start clapping em
Ik about that I'm saying that throughout the questline he tries to basically remove Tan-2's frickin soul or something so he can be a warlord again
yeah he does
does this give murdergod Gwynn license to kill?
Idk XD
First banner being a goth mommy is still wild to me
Ok I remember now I think it backfires on Yannick-11 so he "dies" before coming back somehow and getting along with Tan-2 so I guess they are just stuck together
Gwynn and Attal's relationships pretty cute ngl
they knew what they were doing with hot goth mommy and whales
Their dynamic is funny too lol
Yannick-11 tries to delete tan2 soul to takeover his body but his ghost stops it, then tan2 decides not to delete yannick and yannick has to “sacrifice” himself to save tan2 in the end. but it turns out tan2 goes back and recovers yannicks files
Only a matter of time before people start shipping them ._.
i mean, like, the game does that already
Yeah i finished it in the alpha but I just started it in the full game
Mfw they add dual wielding back which bungo didnt do since the goat halo 3
yeah, like first there's Gwynn's loving caress and then there's the amused lurking and watching Attal try to teach Elliksni
like there's actually no way they're NOT a couple, even Gwynn's ghost talks about how he wants Gwynn to break up with Attal or smtn
he even hangs up on her
I haven't done the full questline for gwynn (only the intro mission) so I wouldn't know lol
do it asap
the text messages are a riot
I need to get gwynn first
I'm close to a guaranteed gwynn pull so I should get her within the next week
One of the messages you can get from Attal is her asking you relationship advice
be sure to do Attal too
._.
You need to do Attal’s quest to get all of Gwynn’s diary, though I think mine’s bugged
I mean gywn literally murdered a hive wizard to save Attal in her quest
also I swear Gwynn mentions breasts when they're in a fireteam together
When crota and gwynn in her totally upcoming sentinel form clash
They give Wei Ning and Eriana vibes
Luckily I have attal I just wish she was as good as gwynn
Also Attal seems to be a REALLY bad cook
Attal is great if you're in a fireteam and your dumb friend is dying a ways away
Do hand cannons feel weird in DR for any of you guys? They do for me
Attal just to pacifistic to be powerful
I mean solo she is meh
I don’t like the feel you gotta use aim to make it bearable
Hand cannons don’t do the damage they should imo
Now Gwynn and Attal together you can probably 2 man a raid
Ikr they hit like a noodle
Also I love how Attal’s default pairing bonus sets to Gwynn
it's not the other way around 💀
Gwynn and attal should do the fusion dance and 1v the entire hive
Or wait it might be
wait yeah Gwynn's bonus is Attal and Attal's is Kabr (?)
I also realized that people were stuck in the ascendent plane with attal. Did gwynn just abandon them and forget about them?
Gwynn had some tunnel vision ig
Those people are gonna be stuck in the ascendent plane forever
Hmm they probably dead
now if only the game unlocks these two lore books, already completed both their quests
Is that not tied to proficiency?
Gwynn, Attal, and Probably Estela (when her banner comes) would 3 man a raid in 10 minutes prob
no these two are tied to Gwynn and Attal's character quests
What if tan Split into 2 People
Probably a future questline
Maybe he finds a way to import Yannick's mind into a new exo frame or something
That be Great
Then we would maybe get a new lightbearer
So we gonna kill the voice harrow heard when the campaign starts again right
Only thing Yannick would need a different relic
Easy sword whip
Yannik is kinda a monster though? Unless he becomes more chill in the plot we should NOT be giving him a body
Why can't we just go to Harrow and wish that she phases out of this timeline so she doesn't accidentally summon the witness or something
Is there anywhere to look at artwork, like the vex? Or any of the brutalist artwork, etc
Yea but u have to be resurrected or have a ghost transfer to you like shin to be one and there ain't any guarantee Yannick would
Well he seems a bit more chill after Tan-2's character quest line
Idk but we cant lol
oh damn someone on Destinypedia's really putting a lot of work into adding Rising MIND entries
Maybe we should just give harrow noise cancelling headphones so she doesn't accidentally grant more wishes
Lmao sure why not
Byf is currently playing destiny rising LIVE
I don't think it's the kind of whispers that get canceled out by noise cancelning headphones, sadly.
Maybe we should just send her into a cave of hive and see what happens
Wasn't suros regime confirmed to be coming
...You know, if we send her to a hive and have them make a wish, maybe that'd work in our favor. Like they wish for crota to rule earth and he suddeny has a change of heart
Assuming they even know that she can grant wishes
We just need to send them to a hive captain smart enough to know how to wish, but dumb enough to DO it.
Ikr
My favorite ost is in the final campaign mission with the D1 theme
I haven't beat it yet
They reference that theme so much and their renditions are really nice to listen to
Well in truth almost all of destiny's soundtrack use the motifs from the d1 theme - but yea
the main composer is Rotem Moav, but apparently Salvatori was involved in it, same with Casey Edwards, the guy behind the DMC5 soundtrack
Ah ok
Hearing the music guys came back for it was what got me into the game
Still think they should try and get Yuka Kitamura to do some destiny work.. she's the lady who did DS2, Bloodborne and some of DS3
Wonder when we'll get Zavala and Cayde and what their abilities will be
Part of me thinks giving Jolder Ward of Dawn is somewhat problematic because this is kind of Saint-14's super - i figured they'd give Jolder Sentinel instead
Fits more with her kit to begin with, but whatever
I suppose Sentinel is just discount VoG relic and frankly always has been so they dont wanna cross conflict with Kabr
in addition to this, I hope that when we get The Last Word we'll get their iteration of Shin Malphur, one can hope 🙏
I just hope Nathan is available to voice him again cuz low key im sick of nolanbot and nolan cayde
did we ever get all the lore for the scientists in Venus? don't mind my rotting brainmeats that refuse to retain info...
Ishtar collective? I think there's been bits and pieces there yea
weren't there some stuck in a simulation?
That I couldn't tell you but depending on if you remember if you heard it from D1 or D2 i may be able to find out
say if i spend my tokens im saving up for the sword, would i be back to square one, or would i be fine?
that's the problem, I can't remember... lol
I doubt it was 1 unless it was in grimiore since the story was well
I think it might have had crumbs in the grimoire
You know, but even in d2 since Venus ain't a thing I dont remember
I still think the "content vault" is one of the worst things to happen to destiny
i really wish i could copy+paste these lore entries rn, I'm transcribing some of the MIND entries into Destinypedia rn
If u have an android im pretty sure u can take a pic that transcribes text
oh damn, the Maya Sundaresh closure came out when I stopped playing D2
i just have the game open on one monitor and the wiki on another
True
all my play time is at work and I'm afraid my phone would die if I tried to tab out and write fireteam lobby dialogue in Destinypedia
Mfw destiny 1 has just about the same amount of playable strikes as 2 except d1 was only around for 3 years and 2 was a whole 8
I wish I was joking
I know you're not
A Chinese destiny being direct competition to destiny 2 is still a wild bingo card space ngl
D1 didn't know how to execute its ideas and D2 clearly wanted to be gacha
Im not sure how familiar you are with the background of d1 but its evident that Activison, for all of their faults, kept Destiny 1's content cycle afloat, and for a bit in d2. When they broke off, originally we thought, oh good free from the evil activision - bungie was entirely to blame. D2's release date was still relatively early into the 8th gen's lifecycle and as a result we got a combination of the worst monetization schemes throughout the years PLUS paid expansions
I do remember Bungle had to scavenge what was left due to incompetent leadership
Yes. Its been that way for a while but at least they had to answer to Activision or risk being dissolved. The infamous presentation about Underdelivery is still a funny read and it highlights exactly what is wrong with those execs. Sony should have instantly deleted Pete from the picture and purged the idiotic remnants, but im afraid after the marathon fiasco and what d2 has become, its a little late
all Marathon has going for it is a fascinating art direction
which ended up being plagiarized
this is like the dark ages of videogames again, jeez...
I didnt really even find it that interesting tbh. It looked ugly but not in a Cruelty Squad ugly where the ugliness is intentional, it just looked lazy-ugly. And clearly that was the case cuz the art style literally ripped off pieces
i thought the style was neat, but didn't really fit the original vision Marathon had
I think this Marathon is just the result of some suits looking at TF2 and OW and being like yeah, this here's a banger, which IP can we slap onto it?
The game would have probably died even if it launched. $40 bucks for an extraction shooter is crazy but also it would have shed the majority of its audience within weeks once people realized the gameplay loop consisted of getting railed by tryhards 24/7, and with no other game mode it would habe flopped and the devs were saying that for a while
I think Destiny should have more spinoffs so we could have some sort of extremely lore-heavy stuff.
In my opinion TF2 is much better than OW primarily because its not sweaty but also the characters are primarily an archetype and not a set character like OW. In that sense Marathon and Destiny for that matter were more TF2 ish but besides minute differences in mobility, recovery and resilience (now gone anyway for some reason) the core difference were abilities and supers - of which marathon had anyway. So what target audience was marathon for, i stil don't know
I just thought it look interesting. Not good, but interesting. Then it turned out to be plagerized
In my opinion Marathon was a stupid idea to begin with. Resurrecting a decades old IP only to make it an extraction shooter is wild - not even mentioning the fact that the product that was supposed to be sold had a dubious target audience - what did it offer than destiny 2 didnt already offer?
They should've used "Plagiarism will make me sued"
Plagiarism will make me god
haha
I think they assumed that Destiny wouldn’t be able to last forever so they wanted to branch out, ironically killing Destiny
Plagiarism will make me cancelled
they could have made a FF 6-styled Destiny and I would have played it for the lore
Truly the only game that can kill Destiny, is Destiny
Real
The other lawsuit besides the plagiarism one is about Red War content. Someone claimed bungie used his storytelling or something - they could have easily struck it down, but since they literally couldn't show the court that content anymore it came back to haunt them 💀 (they absolutely can add that old stuff back, they just lazy)
Bungie is the only company I know that could kill a hyped up game in its prealpha stage
how the mighty have fallen
I wouldn't be surprised if they actually stole it tbh
Maybe that is why they vaulted it so they couldn't get evidence of it being stolen
welp, time for me to sleep and get retraumatized by AI voices from this game
True, especially after the marathon fiasco. Ultimately bungie hasn't been the same since like Reach. Only 1 transferred to 343 so for a few years Bungie was the same. Staten leaving in 2013 was the biggest red flag to this date but nobody knew it back then.
Lol just should've just hired random people from the community to replace the AI va for the background characters lol
they gotta get real vas for the public events i ain't trying to listen to that all the time
even I, a person who records in a closet and still have at least 40k people watching my friend's stuff can sound better than that AI
Lol people are probably gonna upload all the cutscenes to yt and dub over the ai voicelines
At least there aren't characters without voicelines at all
honestly sometimes i'd rather just read the dialogue than deal with the AI
idk which is worse tho... peoples' inability to read or the cacaphony assaulting my ears
In the beta Finnala just spoke in villager during the cutscenes
some quests still have some characters just grunt
Hey, Master Chief grunted a lot and was popular
But the funny thing is they sometimes had her use AI voicelines so it was very inconsistent
that's so badddd ughhhhhh
genuinely i'd rather just them make the lines unvoiced
like whats the point of making ambient Haven resident dialogue if all of them are AI
I'd rather have the Minecraft Villager mumbles
Idk if it was intentional, but just for the record "Iron Bar" was the name of the group Jason Jones gave his team that ripped the supercut apart.
I feel like it was
honestly Iron Bar's just a strange name for PvP
they even namedropped Todd McFarlane
I wouldn't be surprised if jones was majority responsible for the disaster that almost hit Halo 2 - funny, since he took a hiatus for my goat halo 3
Does Rising use the Tiger engine as well?
I don’t think it does, probably the same one as Diablo Immortal
The game doesn’t really have that “feeling” Tiger engine does
I wonder if they listed the engine in the credits, but now I really do have to sleep 🫠
True, though I dont think Destiny felt like it either besides the goofy ahh player collisions
And I doubt they would want to use a proprietary engine they don’t own
ciao peeps
The spaghetti code of Tiger is probably illegible to begin with at this point, but somehow 343 got away with taking -blam- forward so they could have made that deal in the license but idk
Only reason I even ask is because if it was on Tiger it would be particularly funny since they did nearly everything bungie said they couldn't do
Anyway, back to the lore.
It’s interesting to see that this timeline’s lightbearers don’t seem to have much in the way of long-distance travel yet
I guess I should have realized Tiger is inherently a product of x86 so I guess its not fit for mobile to begin with
Is the story of destiny Rising over or is there more to come?
Ongoing still, the Red Sea lore section says that the area is still WIP
Your asking on what engine the game is on? I saw that it was on a custom netease engine, maybe tiger idk.
Ignore it, i somewhat realized it can't be Tiger i dont think
I’m gonna assume the next major story arc will deal with Harrow and the Ahamkara
Maybe kick off this timeline’s “Great Ahamkara Hunt”
Ahamkaras when I make a wish to my shotgun to fill them with buckshot
Hopefully they don’t make EVERY Ahamkara look like riven, they’re supposed to look like however people wish to perceive them
Like the Iron Lords fought Ahamkaras that looked like traditional european dragons since Saladin wanted a classical dragon fight
Me wishing for it to look like a Ford so it falls apart
There gonna be one mf guardian who be like "yeah I wish u look like a hot anthromorphic dragon girl" 🗿
It’s strange that Skorri seems to be the only Awoken we run into during the story
Honestly didn’t expect her to be an Awoken
Umeko’s supposed to be our first playable Awoken so hopefully she sheds some light on what’s going on
Probably just coincidence frankly
I second this and Wolf should have been more ambiguous class wise
The well defined disciplines of the main game weren't as established in the dark ages
I keep trying to dodge with wolf since he is technically a hunter but I keep forgetting they didn't have class abilities till D2 era 😭
It will likely be a characters ability eventually. Kabr has citan barricade
Felwinter gotta pull up with the shoulder charge
Yea then get clapped by shaxx
Tan-2 has rift
Ye
Felwinter better have a shotgun it’s already weird for ikora to not have one
I guess Ning fei technically has a dodge
Also Jolder has not garbage Ward of Dawn
I wonder who they’ll choose for Shadowshot
I’m gonna guess that it’ll be a character that uses the bow weapon we have a setting for
With a void quiver or smtn
Yea, though iirc weren't specific names mentioned in those d1 taken king 3rd super missions?
I know Tevis was the nightstalker we took it from
Though I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s someone else
Mara Sov guardian
Real
We did technically have shadow step in D1
u can use their 2nd ability to basically dash away :>
bop
||Obligatory channel engagement||
We are getting an ahamkara raid
Actually Ikora does have hair.
Bald ah bth
The iron lords have official actions figures. I love it.
...
They just need an action figure for Wolf
Is it confirmed that we will get main campaigns through out the years or just seasonal content?
isnt eliksni a widespread term already
Not before we meet Mithrax I think
is mithrax even in this game
Technically Kevarah can spread the words with the eliskni children but the population during destiny rising wasn’t that large yet so it shouldn’t be that wide spread
well do even have ppl calling them eliskni at all
Attal and Wolf does
See Attal’s character quest and the exotic mission for the grenade launcher catalyst
Fallen is kind of like a racist slur to eliskni
I was so used to Crow’s nice attitude to the Eliksini that Aueyla’s whole attitude on them caught me off guard
they're planning on major content updates every two months
the shape of what those content updates is remains to be seen
there'll be smaller content updates between those as well
My heart did a little happiness Jump when some Jolder Lore hinted/implied Siva, i miss Siva
A nanobot metal eating thing with self organizing capabilities that Felwinter knows how to control?
Hmmmmmmmmm
Turns out its actually just 5G chips from pre golden age and they got blessed by the midness
I’d love one IRL!
Especially since even when returning to the plagurlands, D2 ignores all opportunities with SIVA.
DR could get massive player influx by doing a SIVA DLC or something like that
Definitely! I think its so ridicolous that Bungie is double tripling down on no Siva, why even give us Plague back then, i guess so they have a reason to say ok here u go you get Wrath but no Siva otherwise
I wonder if we will get villian light bearers(idk how to spell it)
I'm not too well versed in destiny lore but I have heard about a guardian that that had his old memories and "saved" other guardians and destroyed their ghosts
Maybe we can have them as an introduction to darkness
He doesn't need darkness to snuff the light from a ghost
true
i just was thinking of a way darkness would be introduced
i heard he remembers his past life and the darkness helps to remember so tha would be a way
I don't think our current environment with other lightbearers around would like to see a lightbearer with darkness
ah true
can someone explain me the tldr if were in another universe / timeline bla bla bla
its an alternate timeline where certain folks are arent there and certain folks are and how that lead to a different outcome of evolution
😭 thats a little too short
Yes, we're in an alternate timeline. The timeline diverged some time in the Golden Age. We are currently exiting the dark ages and entering the city age, although the city hasn't been built yet.
so this isn't a prequel?
nope
different universe, different events
It won’t lead into the events of d1 so no, but it dose have characters and places that were referenced to have existed since the dark ages along with new characters and places that the new devs have added.
...Attal, I love that you have a point about how "Baldur" may have been raised after his intial death with no memory of who he was. Counterpoint: Always assume a fictional Kyle is ALWAYS evil.
I firmly believe that Virtual Space in sparrow racing was created so people won't forget to sometimes not have fun with the Destiny franchise 💀
Sometimes?
can someone explain exo strangers lore to me like who and what she is
ciao ho creato un pack per italiani DIVISIONE_SOL [SOLE] 🇮🇹 🇮🇹
I don't even have time to explain why I don't have time to explain
is it that deep 😭
No that's just one of the first Destiny writing memes because that's literally how bad the writing was, that's an actual quote from her
damn 😭
Took them nearly 6 years to flesh her out. She's Elisabeth Bray, sister of Ana Bray, happens to be an interdimensional time traveller. Both are daughters of Clovis Bray who is a genius but also a meglomaniac - he created the exo race
does she have any powers? i cant even remember
I mean she travels timelines
Otherwise I guess kinda a regular guardian though she does have a fishy ghost which we still never got an explanation of
is she a lightbearer?
Technically no her fishy is one of them poukas from Neptune
ALR TYSM BRO
Ye no problem, Her presence is indicative of the timeline going correctly, since she stated in several of the ones she's been to her sister fell to the darkness and such
Her role is more or less tied to our guardian in d1 and d2 cuz she's been through numerous time loops so I doubt it
Her time loop does start the day on Cayde's Hunter Vanguard appointment. Vanguard's not even a concept yet, so they'd have to pull some trickery for her to make an appearance. I think it's still on the table, though.
Here is a question about wolf, tan, gwynn and frankly all playable guardians who is or will be a 5th lvl sigma 🤔
at what time does cayde awake?
Cayde will be introduced then killed cause he's too expensive
His killer gets to be playable but not cayde
honestly i can believe that
So did that self proclaimed Archpriest overthrow the entire house of Devil leadership or just the Prime Servitor? and also do we even see the house of devils kell?
crow did nothing wrong
Nope
Except be demonstrably stupid in that one season where he unplugged the psion
What may I ask is the lore behind my guy Tan-2?
When he found his relic he started hearing the ghost of a warlord. He's practically possessed.
Tan-2 is the one who uses solar light to heal, while Yannick-11 is the one who uses it to burn. They both have control of his body at times, but Tan's the actual like...host body, while Yannick usually talks through the sword.
So Yami Yugi type shenanigans
or Moon knight
Moon Knight's a pretty good analogy.
Tan's character quest goes into details about what exactly happened to him and why. It's very worth doing. One of my personal favorite quests in the game.
"That wasn't--! I swear that wasn't me-me!"
They seriously have some of the best dialogue in the game
Now that I think about it, why am I the only one with an animal name?
i set that as my player intro lol
I completed it in the alpha gotta do it again tho (and pull tan-2 😭 )
Does gwynn have anything to do with ace of spades?
...the hand cannon? Why would you think that?
I'm genuinely curious
Different Actors for Ikora and Saladin
Cayde will be no different
Because of the voiceline for the super.
I’m assuming thats why they said that.
"Memento Mori" is latin for Remember Death. It's a pretty common phrase. Ace of Spades has it as it's perk simply because of Cayde's death.
More accurate translation is "remember you will die"
yeah i was being very literal
Roman generals would have someone whispering it into their ears after they returned from a successful mission to keep them humble
Very fun
good job! remember though you'll die someday
😀
I know that
Im just saying i can see how someone could think this is related if they aren’t looking at the specifics.
Was Ace of Spades perk in D1 just a regular Firefly? I don't remember
I believe so
It was a perk called “Maverick”, basically it would reload 1 round into your magazine every time you get a precision kill
Oh yeah, I forgot about that part completely
Fun Fact, the Ace of Spades symbol is generally considered the Death card
Yeah Ace of Spades was a pretty forgettable weapon in D1 tbh
Also since it was hunter-exclusive
Just finished the campaignnn I loved the ending
True, funny when Tlaloc was like the best Primary while being exclusive too
Campaign was honestly fun, I like how they tried some random things we haven’t seen before in Destiny
Right!!
Is it explained anywhere why lightbearers in Rising need to use Relics to utilise their power and Destiny 2 doesn’t have them? Or is there something that acts as a relic?
There hasn't been an official explanation, but the commonly accepted theory is that because we're so much further back in the timeline than the main timeline, the understanding of how Light works and can be used is much worse, so Lightbearers need an artifact to focus it through.
Technically in Destiny some guardians do opt to channel their light through relics, like Shin Malphur
I assume it’s another quirk of this timeline, since Kabr already has Aegis
I guess that works, I was also thinking if the Aspects could be acting as some sort of Relics? Because every Aspect is a specific item in the lore
Aspects might just be objects with light stored in it as opposed to something they channel their super through
I do think lightbearers might legitimately just be weaker in this timeline
True, or we just gain power with time, the amount of things that happened from start of D1 to our current D2 is massive
I think the biggest indicator for me is it seems implied to be easier to kill a Ghost in this timeline
do yall think we are getting cayde or crow in this au as the "hunter class leader"
Definitely not Crow, we're several hundred years away from Uldren's death.
Cayde's also not super likely. I'd imagine if we see a hunter vanguard it'll be either Tallulah or Andal Brask. Or one of the other four named hunter vanguards.
Let me rephrase:
Cayde's a likely character to show up
But I think one of his vanguard predecessors would fit the role you're asking about
they drop the ball so hard at the end, I love how saladin goes from I hate you and I hate haven and I refuse any help whatsoever! to I'm so sorry wolf! I've changed my entire outlook on everything! remember when you said I was corrupted, that was so true! and we'll never bring this up again! also you remember that place I've refused help from for god knows how long? yeah, not only am I okay with the idea of getting help from them, but I already left a voice mail! all off screen! in the span of one under 1 mission! like come on, I've read better storytelling in fanfiction!
Okay so you just don't understand why he was acting the way he was originally
?
...Looks like someone missed the fact that he was, in fact, corrupted. Ahamkara magic: not even once.
Dude accidently made a wish to protect veridia, and much like the guy before him, the cost was him becoming more and more evil
It was only fixed by Harrow going as far away from him as possibkle
Quick question folks, kinda confused rn, did i miss a mission or something? After doing the gauntlet, I'm now in the Red Sea. What ever happened to dealing with Issakis once and for all? Or is this part of the prep for dealing with him?
TLDR: You take out his support network in gauntlet op blitz, which leaves him trapped at the top of the station. You then deal with THAT in the raid/Onslaught.
