based eliksni
then the mission you load into next your ghost is just spewing fallen racism lmfao
In the element matching tutorial, you use one of the arc characters btw
I assume Kevarrh gets hounded out of the city after 6 fronts
also it's neat having characters actually helping out in missions
wow you weren't kidding lmao
yeah it's a bit of a kicker after years of building up eliksni culture in d2
"The Fallen turn every place they visit into a hell on earth. They excel at murder and pillaging. They've always been this way" jesus calm down zev
The city militia actually does something for once
Based Zev
Zev and Lakshmi shaking hands rn
also huge lore thing
since this is AU and has iron lords you know what that means
Destiny Pacific Rim Rising is all I want now.
Don't worry Zev and Wolf will eventually be devoured by Siva nanomachines
lol
siva time 🟥 ⬛
Anyone else kinda funny [in a good way] that when Zev is translated the main duo is Wolf and Wolf? Edit: Unless they're using the greek Zev and not the other
What's the lore with Bazinet voice change mid dialogue
I can't be the only one that was using Kabr and thinking "huh, I swear I know this guy from somewhere" until it finally dawned, honestly this is so sick being able to play as him
Can't wait to see who else they add, being in the past gives them so many opportunities to explore, and it doesn't even need to be lore accurate given the context of the game!
Like failsafe, split personality disorder
When is the game supposed to take place on the Destiny timeline? I don't have alpha so I have no idea but am curious.
During the iron lords and warlords erra
Oooh, Shaxx's hey days. Cool
Delete that.
what
Accidental code paste from someone
oh lol
I found Drifter i think lol, I'm loving it so far, and so sorry for the accidentally code
You good
I know this universe isn’t canon, but it obviously follows some cannon acts already. Radegast being the leader of the iron lords and trying to pull humanity together, what I really want to see if more of the man with no name ( wu ming ) in some of the canonical lore we have of him, he is almost more accurate guardian bad ###. like will we get to see his best friend who died in the battle lord Dryden brought upon his small village? Small story arks that have been locked away in pages in the main game can really come to life here. God I’m so excited for the potential they have
And not to even mention the potential they have with Kabyr
Just you wait till the day Kabyr simply vanishes from the game and lore
So is Kevarrh part of the Fallen as a whole or a House aligned with humanity ala Light is nowadays
Like is he some weird ambassador for the Fallen we're actively fighting?
Frs
Been awhile since I’ve heard that name
The oversoul spotted
You thought you could escape gambit in the new game?
Sooooo if no traveler, why light?
Fallen still abandoned by the traveller. Bungie really hates them
The homie Mithrax better be in this game one way or another lol
Is Radegast like THE Radegast from the main games lore tabs????
I’m assuming yes, just a different version of him
This is an AU, so im imagining Destiny Rising Radegast with D1 iron lord gear for the mainline
I see lol gotta love Alternate Realities🤣🤣
Seriously lol
kinda the one time im glad it is lol
looks more like a renaissance age than the dark age
The traveler is right there. You can see it ingame.
Oh i dont disagree i think its kinda cool!! Gunna be fun to see of Byf covers the phone game and stuff!!
Hire Byf as a VA, Devs
Omg yesssss
When I saw the trailer I was kinda afraid they were making the dark age look "not as bad" as its depicted in D1 & 2
I hope we get a boss fight with a lightbearer warlord Ive heard them mentioned so far
and nice to have the Fallen houses back instead of the dusk and salvation
Yeah that makes sense, and that would be pretty cool
So that sword is Young Wolf’s Howl from D1?
I don’t think so - it seems like the Relics are unique to each Lightbearer.
After years of absorbing Destiny lore like a sponge. this is quite an experience playing the alpha
was not expecting the the 2,000' Humanoid Walker lol
It’s so interesting seeing Ikora having a normal relationship with Ophiuchus.
I like the ghosts name, Kevin
Hey, you folks think that the facility that we do fulminator in is a Bray facility?
It has the weapon models of the lunar colonies / neomuna, after all.
It could be? Or it's just golden age tech in general
Yeah, but you can't go anywhere near golden age tech without his grubby mitts being there
We've also never really seen other intact golden age tech without it being Bray tech,
Neomuna technology is wayyy more advanced than normal golden age tech anyway
Well, we do have Ishtar tech, that's more in line with Sundaresh, Esi, etc.
That being said, their stuff is more archetectural. Between Rasputin and DSC / Vesper weapons, it seems that bray was a lot more focused on arms manufacturing.
Anyways, fulminator? I hardly knew her! And hey, if this means we get strike-specific loot...
AFAIK we don’t even know yet if the Bray family is in the equation here. I’d assume they would be, though
Braytech probably exists because the exos exist.
True, true
ikora’s void satellite has clovis bray written on it
Anyone knows how to customize characters and voice?
You get the chance to customize your look right before you remove your helmet as Wolf, don’t know if you can redo it later.
"My will is not my own" Sorry, Xur :(
Who are b4n ?
I am now hella sus of Ratagast I don’t wanna spoil so that’s all I’m gonna say
What’re sentinels I keep seeing the word pop up
They’re basically the Destiny version of a gundum
Sentinels got Xenoblade Chronicles energy
and uhhhhhhhh wow || Radagast || has a fecking || Ahamkara || that was quite a surprise considering we also have at least one || allied Eliksni||
Strong start lore wise, gameplay aint awful, I'm adjusting to it alright so far
Proud to be part of a Destiny alpha test for once!
That was crazy
How much can we talk about here lore wise in the game
Lemme eyp
Yeah the sentinels threw me lol
Same!
Like massive mech warriors?? Whaaa???
Definitely alt timeline moment lol
Probably no restrictions I just wanna give people time to see stuff for themselves
ok fair
Sentinels [mecha] are just not at all what I think when I think destiny, that introduction cutscene to them is definitely a WHAT? moment, and not in like a WHAT WHAT hype way but in a surreal questioning of reality way. For such a absurd concept I hope its commited to and not just some silly background note otherwise that'll really turn it sour where as right now its just funky and exploratory.
Like are these light powered mechs? are these made by the traveler / inspired from it? Why would our golden age call for such a thing? They're mentioned to have weld giant hammers so part of me wants to think of them as giant smiths / carpenters but they're so huge its impossible to imagine them being practical for building, so why do we got titans patrollin our lands? Was the golden age less harmonious in this universe and we used golden age super science for active warfare instead of the potential of warfare? lotta questions, some fun some not so fun. Real weird universe Rising is in...
What's really throwing me off though is the actual location of the last city in this universe pff
The Golden Age was still one of War... think about how developed the established foundaries became during this time, it's not a far leap
it's in the same spot?
It feels like it might be closer to asia but it might just be theres more of a focus on sustaining efforts in that area
we have no confirmation in the main game where the last city actually is though
indeed, but its theorized to be in south america
outside of "under the traveler"
speculation, and only that
Bungie has never given us a actual location
The Seraph missions recently were the only thing that gave credence to that theory and even that was... a stretch at best
It's been speculated as such since like vanilla destiny 1
not really
There has been like a ton of possible locations in theory since D1 (I've been in the community since closed alpha of D1) and none of it was founded on anything other than just grasping at straws
the Seraph station missions were the first time people had like geographical reasons to conclude that, but even then... that mission did not give us much
it's more likely that it is closer to Cuacasia somewhere further north than there, given the prevelance of the cosmodrome
it's far more lore-supported to be somewhere near Russia than anything else
Makes sense too. In the end there isn't a objective answer right now so i was just picking a potential outta many and running with it, as since there isnt a right answer i was choosin what ive thought longest pff. i still wonder if this new city is located in a different spot anyways.
fun to pick a straw and stay with it if none of them are right anyways
Nah the lore supports the Last City being in South America
Considering that Amanda Holliday travelled the PANAMA PASS to get to the Last City. Also people have lined up real mountains to South America.
People passed through tons of places to get to the last city some way farther than that
Bro... they could see the traveller
Can you link that lore cause I don't recall that one specifically
South America makes way less sense than South Africa even
The Cosmodrome is considered very close to the Last City so South America doesn't make any sense
No it's not
Yes it is
It's not
I mean, considering The Cosmodrome is old russia, i'd assume its somewhere in/near russia
It is. In Rise of Iron we had to head off the splicers because it was considered so close to the city to be catastrophical.
yups
If it was in South America we wouldn't have considered it an imminent threat at all
That was at Felwinter's Peak, which is near the Last City.
Correct, which is right next to the cosmodrome
Nope
We literally enter the raid in the cosmodrome lol
^
Destiny Rising is an alternate universe right? But if I remember, the main Destiny 2 game is the only universe that's survived the Witness incursion, and the only universe where Elsie Bray wasn't teleported back. Will that mean anything to this game?
Destiny 2 - THE LAST CITY LOCATION CONFIRMED! - Evaze on youtube. South America.
he has real world maps matching the location where the traveler is.
During the Seraph mission, you can match up mountains with ones from South America.
Evaze is clickbaiter and nothing was "confirmed"
Hmmm .. just our guardian name has lore implications
Guardian has no name?
The new guardian
Young Wolf is the Guardians name in Rising
It's literally The Young Wolf
Pretty sure it's just Wolf.
If you can't extrapolate, especially after Ikora herself calls is Young Wolf idk what to say to you lol
So far its interesting
It's been an absolute blast 🙌
I want to try it with the ps5 controller later
alpha, subject to change, AI voice lines.
We took the title young wolf after the events of RON, maybe a similar event would happen in Rising...
And? You think the connection isn't clear? Like... really?
Also alternative universe,
AU but also prequel kinda
So you're sold on the other so called "confirmed" lore but not the obvious connections? 🤔
Granted d2 mentions the multiversal constantly
Yeah like A LOT honestly
i still feel like that structure on mars is a stretch lol [unless you mean the ttk secondary opening mission]
Wolf is clearly a stand-in for "The Guardian" of the main game. Them being the Young Wolf is so obvious it doesn't take much thought.
In caydes cache during the taken king there is a scannable pod that our ghost mentions was a guardian of immense light. That refused the resurrection due to the last war lasted lifetimes
Agreed! I’ve been having a great time on it!!
Amanda Holliday was a child when getting to the last city, her mother dies in the Panama Ravine, and a half day before getting the last city, her father dies. Also when a child... unlikely they travelled from Panama, to Russia, in weeks.
Also I correct myself in Felwinters. It's not near the last city.
Been using an Xbox elite and it’s even better on controller. Downloaded it to my iPad and been playing on there after starting on my phone with touchscreen for an hour or so
Its good as of finishing the intro mission, have to play more at break later
Definately will switch it to the tablet though
I don't think they put much thought into Amanda Holliday if recent seasons are any indicator. They've retconned less.
There is also way more lore to establish the location closer to Russia than the single entry about Amanda.
Considering they pretty much ignore/delete Rise of Iron/SIVA from most of the story in D2, I would say it's not important.
Is this game actually canon or not? I don’t know if it is or not
Your line of logic is weird and nonsensical lol. Rise of Irons lore isn't ignored, and while SIVA is... it's because of how RoI played out lol 😆
It's an Alternate Timeline
Ah
Anyone else notice that Wolf's character sheet says she was found in the old city in South America? And it's within sight of The Last City being built, which would confirm what guardians online have suspected about The Last City's location
I had not seen that yet actually. Gonna log back on and take a look 👀
Yeah I just happened to see that and thought it was 😯
Where exactly is that? I don't see it and I'm pretty far into the story
Ikora being the first warlock? At least in this timeline?
Lemme get a screenshot
🙏
Since I couldn't share here I posted it just now in #in-game-highlights
i'm suprised they didn't say anything about wolf already having a iron banner cloak on when he showed up to haven
mumu or bluestack
Alt uni to what? Irrc the game doesn’t run parallel to Destiny at all
It's an alternative end of dark age.
There's lore introduced that isn't consistent with how things happened in destiny's past, ie the big mechs
yeah the giant mech.. i was like wait is this Pacific Rim now? :p
Haven't played much past the first strike, does the little dragon around the one guy get explained?
I'm assuming its an Ahamkara
prob later but yes most likle y
i think it’s likely that wolf was a member of the haven militia before he died
Code access? Beta
man crazy how this universe is gonna be doomed to the darkness, since the main destiny universe is the first/only to win
I mean I doubt we'd see that but this is assuming they respect those lore bits
either way game is good and got potential
I can totally see Bungie adding Sentinal lore in d2 now that they are in DR just to make it canon 🤣
i mean we got the warminds, n stuff. Im just suprised we havent seen alot of human tech with the light in it even during the golden age somehow
unless im thinking wrong
AFAIK, Destiny 1&2 were pretty silent on the golden age. Any of this stuff is plausible
well in destiny 2 were prob gonna go to old chicago so we never know lol
My general feeling is DR is closer to forgotten history than alternate timeline
The sentinel really thru me off though. That part seems the most off lol
There needs to be just one level where we control the Jaeger Sentinel to face down some giant air force of fallen or something
Maybe get some ship combat lol?
We already blow the cannons off Fallen ships in strikes, let's take one for a joyride lol
oh man, I've been wanting ship combat for ages. Maybe destiny rising is finally where we'll get it
I doubt it
Well, it does say most of the sentinels had been destroyed, so the last few of the pre-City age getting taken out long before the “present day” isn’t implausible, especially if people don’t know how/don’t have the materials/industry to repair them or build new ones.
You'd think ikora would've mentioned them at some point though
It's pretty obviously an AU , they even say as much officially, we have multiple characters who are present in both destiny 1/2 and rising, so it's "forgotten stories" doesn't really work
Oh my goodness, the Guerillas are using Fallen air filters to filter water
You have to take them from captain corpses...
Chat brasil?
As far as I can tell, this chat's in english
Here is good
I have double checked and can confirm this chat appears to be in English
Li pa
I could see one where we just operate the guns on one easily, the ship could fly around to set points or something and we just shoot
As silly as it sounds
Seeing how timelines have been a plot point
How silly would it be to have the Canon timeline and this new timeline fighting each other, or meeting up in some future event?
Well time travel exists so it could be a possibility
But the chances are slim since this isn't developed by bungie. Netease just use Bungie's IP
I know, but considering how open things are in destiny 2 for the future at this time
Could be something in the background
Excuse me did radegast just make a void portal??? when can we do that
This is just another place on the paraverse
Would be funny to see taniks in game
i stg if here's here myself and my clan will rage
10 years of murking that guy and he just wont stay dead lmao
Its just a hatchling version of taniks walking through a door
So many people would punt the hatchling
On a different note its been great seeing and being with some of the iron lords when they are alive
Back to prison of elders we go 🤣
I really wanna see felwinter and just see him beat the hell out of some kell
OH GOD NO
Defuse mines, yessss? Or ....
YOU DIE
Prime servitor….Sepiks Prime?
Sepiks was the Prime Servitor of the House of Devils
there was Orbiks Prime, and Kaliks Prime of the House of Wolves
Simiks Prime of House of Winter
Yamiks Prime of House Salvation [poor thing]
and Brandaks Prime of the House of Dusk
Anyone on the fence with the voice actor of Crota. I'm not use to it but it seems interesting
Why can't i play as an awoken? Zavala fought in the dark age.
god i hope not its so corny
I was disappointed when I saw that there aren’t any awoken 🥺
Awoken are a big part of Destiny so it is pretty weird that they seem to be absent... so far anyway
Does the game have separate PVE and PVP modes, such as PVE to play only against bots and PVP to play against players?
Devils ruin catalyst lore drop?
Is their a lore reason ikora is not using a shotgun?
The vast majority of the Awoken were still in hiding during this time. Whether in the distributary or the dreaming city.
Until I believe the Ahamkara hunt started, and given that Morgren is right there, I'm gonna say that it hasn't started yet.
Not atm, I think it's just so niche in D2 lore that Netease overlooked it.
Ah ok thx
To add on to my previous comment about the awoken; Before the Awoken in the dreaming city started assisting the Vanguard in small ways, there were VERY few awoken who left the Awoken City, and the majority who did, died. Since guardians are already rare as well, there's just gonna be at least VERY few Awoken characters for a while.
Though I did see a rumor/leak that Sjur Eido might be playable at some point.
If youre referring to timelines colliding, that's impossible to our knowledge.
That being said, the Nine have been shown to be capable of creating multiversal(or paraversal) portals. This is how we got Master Chief's Magnum and the Marathon armor sets in D2.
But as for timelines, the only example we have of moving between them that we've seen is from Elsie. However, hers is more like groundhog day and more specifically restrained to the main D2 timeline up to the parade after Taniks' assumed killing by Cayde. Since we know this timeline is already separated back to the golden age at least, then she's out of the question.
To answer it simply, it's not impossible. But we haven't seen any reliable method to do it now.
Anyone else surprised by the crota stuff
Its a mystery, and im always a fan of a great ol mystery ^^
Not rlly tbh. I was actually hoping they'd touch on the great disaster, so I'm hyped
I thought they used crota and his sister well in the intro mission to the hive, the ships appearing surprised me and were cool to see used in something other than a cutscene
Ioved the idea of them being new enemies, the Hive. Added to the cool
I wonder if we'll see kabr drink the vex milk some day in the future
Well by that point, he was already trapped in VoG, and wouldn't be able to be part of our fireteam lmao
After talking with kabr I believe he'd do it
I just hope we'll see Praedyth tbh
RIGHT? I've seen so many people saying this isn't how he'd act and I'm just like- excuse me?
That man drinks vex milk later, he's not some stoic majestic entity.
Yeah when I heard ikora was the one watching the hive I was also hoping to see toland
He consumed the expired lemonade :0
And so far I haven't seen any vex, I wonder how they'll introduce the vex seeing as they've been around since before the collapse
That...
Is a good point.
And i think we've got a reference of the spider already
Also we need a taniks for this game too
Before the quest Beneath the ice, Wu Ming refers to Ikora as a "powerful warlock" Did she coin the term or was that an error?
I was wondering about that
Idk it's a time before classes but there are clear titans, hunter, and warlocks
Also anyone else see someone who kinda looks like saladin, his axe is on his back and it looks like a titan
Where at?
In some cutscenes, also in the game intro where it shows the guardians surrounding the iron lord symbol introducing wolf and next to him on his left is someone with thr axe on their back and somewhat similar armor to saladin
I'll have to keep an eye out.
Also alot of splicer talk in this game
Is this before the battle of six fronts?
Of course siva doesn't make it's appearance for awhile so I doubt we will see them ever
I think so because that's to protect the Last City right and thats just being built
Maybe that's how they'll show the classes take form, it is how the titans get their logo
Yeah, the battle of Six Fronts happens after the Vanguard is formed, and we're not that far yet
All the classes base their light off of someone that existed/exists. For example, Golden Gun was popularized/based off of Shin Malphur. So chances are, these are just the characters that were the inspiration for the classes
Oooh i wanna see Dredgen yor
Also the classes are just a classification, not something you just are. It's determined on how you use the light so others who use it similarly can teach you.
Like crow summoning an axe
If you use it more like a hunter, you're taught by a hunter, as that comes more naturally to you.
Hmmm
well, the axe was given to him by lord saladin
he's still a goldie hunter through and through
Well yeah but he summons it with solar light in fights now, so maybe it's an extension of his light now
The axe is more like a relocation, disconnected from the classes at all
*relic
the axe itself channels solar energy, it's just a relic he transmats in as needed
Yeah, remember that we do basically have a pocket dimension with like 27 weapons and 45 peices are armor lmao
Also I've noticed no exotic armor but some guardians have the abilities of the armor
Is this before Twilight Gap even
wasn't twilight gap a defense of the last city
Yeah during the war against the fallen
It lasted 10 years I think
Nvm that was when they were building the city
It'll be cool if we get to see these battles along with the great hunt
Different kinda lair, maybe even on different planets
There were dragons everywhere
I was surprised to see radagast with one and a guardian you can play as also has one
Fr?
I haven't seen much of the game
I wonder how the premise of the Witness and Nezarec will be different
And the Hive Gods
Lol we won't see them
This is so far in the past I don't think we'll ever hear about the witness or nezarec, maybe the hive gods but that's reaching seeing as we've just discovered crota
No mention of cabal or vex yet so I'm interested to see how that goes
Can't wait to learn about the reef in its past
So is anyone else in the game here told in the main game lore of destiny 2 besides Ikora?
Are you asking who else is from the base games?
If so alot of characters are, radagast has been mentioned in destiny, the drifter chills in haven under a different name, we have a few iron lords from the games, kabr is the shield from vog
Also I wonder if the fireteam kabr mentions is the same fireteam he goes into vog with later
I figured, but they will have some kind of impact likely
Except Nez and The Witness
They get sent away and Nez just gets curb stomped lmao
I wonder if the younger brother is still around
Same lol
So from the whole roster who is everyone in the main series? Never heard of gwynn
Ikora
Saladin
Sjur eido
Jolder
Drifter
Kabr
Maybe gwynn
Radegast
Eris morn
Skorri
And xur
We weren't even aware of the Witness until WQ, so that's just not happening /lh
And Nezarec might have some small hints and easter eggs, but probably not much still.
Yeah I figured we wouldn't hear about them unless since it's a separate timeline they could get weird
For playable characters, just; Ikora, Jolder, and Kabr.
Though a few other characters are there as npcs, and its rumored that Sjur Eido might be playable later
Well it's less to do with different timeline shenanigans, and more that this is set hundreds of years before either is at least confirmed.
Nokris
Yeah I was just noting they have a bit of creative control over the story
I figured that out during my catalyst run for Navigator just now
And also rumors of Saladin being playable in the finished game
Yeah but even then, major ideas and aspects of the universe haven't changed much, some extra has just been added on.
Yeah no clue where they're going though. Interesting to see where they take the story
The city does already exist here, but I don't have an answer for that actually
Well kinda exists it's not exactly the city yet, no walls
I think it already happened
Radegast still refers to it as the City, just not the Last City
ah alright thanks
I think it happened shortly after the city's construction
I don't think so actually, cause Twilight Gap still happens after the end of the Iron Lords, and Radegast right there. So probably not yet
I searched it up and apparently it happened 50 years roughly before our guardian was revived when house of devils was in control of the Fallen Alliance
So it's very possible
If the 50 years thing is right, then it's not possible. This takes place at least HUNDREDS of years before the current events of D2, so that's still very far in the future
Also quick point, TG also happens after we abandoned the moon from the Great Disaster, and thats actively in the earliest steps of starting.
And, the Vanguard had already formed with class Vanguards as well. Since classes still aren't well defined yet, then again, not quite yet.
But that's just semantics at this point
The Golden Age also seems different than mainline Destiny’s? Like, it lasted longer, or it went harder into technology?
It seems like the Hive are JUST showing up, and the technology from the Golden Age is even MORE advanced than D2’s. It seems like the collapse JUST happened semi-recently, after a VERY techy golden age.
I dig it so far.
I wanna say this take parts before d1
I say this bc it seem like ikora isn’t head of the warlocks yet, she just doing studies like normal and don’t know much of the hive, iron wolves are more in this then the normal leaders we are used to, so I’m thinking this is all leading before d1, and if this is the wolf from what we have heard from d2 where he the first user of prismatic and we just haven’t unlocked it yet, and seeing that Crota is still alive meaning we will prolly kill his subordinate leading us to killing him in d1
Lore wise yes but keep in mind that this is a completely different timeline
Why are the phillipines so detailed and exact on the world map but everything else is so different
I was trying to find where it was on a map
Oh yes this is very obviously and announced pre-Destiny 1. But also per @hidden mural’s point this is not the same timeline. Different world, similar events and rules.
That was the point of my thing, I feel like one of the big differences is the golden age seems longer here. Like longer than the Destiny history we know from D1 and D2. None of the events from D1 and D2 have (snd seemingly ever will) happen.
I was trying to pick apart one of the differences, and the Golden Age seems to have gone more technological than in D1/D2’s history.
Btw in destiny’s lore everything and every “universe” are canon. Our reality is technically a canon timeline to the destiny universe
This is very reminiscent of the Destiny lore of the age of the Iron Lords in the tail-end of the Dark Ages after the collapse, but not quite the same.
True, if Xûr can play a universal non-mainline gameshow with us in D2, I guess you could say these universes exist in parallel in the same overall reality.
TL;DR: Destiny: Rising is an alternate universe interpretation of the time in the lore before Destiny 1.
in love with morgran ngl, im not sure how diverse ahamkara were in life, but what i thought was initially too unique of a design has really grown on me
how many of the npcs so far are characters weve seen before in lore? indentifiably for me, as a rather casual lore consumer, i only recognise ikora and wu ming
fascinated with the ahamkara and would love to know if there are any adjacent entries relating to morgran or radegast, even if just passing mentions
Radegast there is a lot of mention of him between D1 and D2 but morgran is newer and I dont know if there is mention of him my area of study for Destiny Lore is the Hive
I'm a lore keeper in my clan
Well the ahamkara are very much shapeshifters, so they can look like anything. Tbh I don't think they really have a true form, and what we normally think of is just cause of the dragon association.
Tbh the only really differences so far are the sentinels and it seems like less golden age tech was destroyed in the Collapse.
pretty much
They took dragon form due to humans imagination
Kabr becomes the Aegis shield in the Vault of Glass, and was a member of Praedyth’s fireteam. Hence his shield focus
And multiple people have viewed one at the same time and seen different things.
So for all we know, Radegast could see Morgren as a flying cat
Though there is a statue of him, so nvm actually lmao
Skorri and Radegast are known Iron Lords too
As is Jolder
I do have issues with some things paticular with Ikora rn with how she's protrayed (I'm a warlock main)
I have issue with her placeholder voice, but not much else. I’d probably prefer a shotgun. What else is out of place for you?
I mean, she's pretty accurate to what we know of her from before she studied under Osiris.
Only real things are the Shotgun and placeholder voice, as Abed mentioned.
Even with the Shotgun, that's moreso a crucible thing to my knowledge and she's not quite there yet, so idk.
Shotgun is the big one
And the fact she solos a Hive demigod
she uses the shotgun in a lot of cutscenes outside of curcible
But even those cutscenes occur after her time in the crucible
Different timeline and that demigod had no clue what we could do. That said, Ikora could just be THAT OP, she does spam supers back to back in cutscenes and was generally known as a dang menace.
ok fair and this is confirmed a different timeline then?
I mean she's known to have always been extraordinarily powerful, she was just a lot more brash and unfocused before spending time under Osiris and in the crucible
Also ALSO, Gods have been solo’d by random guardians in Destiny 2 all the time 💀
I couldn’t send a link, but yes the alternate timeline was confirmed and discussed by the developers directly
The big thing is that her hunger for knowledge and power directly feeds her power with Void. It's said frequently that having a sense of hunger/emptiness very often helps make void easier to wield.
With how inherently curious she is, that Void power is insane.
This is a need for me as someone who's studied the hive and taken parts of the lore
lmao
Toland would totally be alive right now, as we were the first to meet Crota as Ikora
We could even WITNESS The Great Calamity and maybe could even partake
Just seemed like a waste to put such a large name up like that and off them immediately
This. Its never even been stated explicitly that the Guardian is especially powerful, we're just reliable(cause we literally come back after deaths in darkness zones that are normally permanent).
If Eris is around, she’d be hiveless
I absolutely hope so
Arc hunter Eris my beloved
Oh god that'll be so weird to see
Ir Anuk, to non-Dark Below/Taken King fans, is just another Hive boss. She would basically be on the same level as the Shadowkeep Strike boss Hashladun, who had an equally small part.
Obviously she’s one of THE Deathsingers, but that’s not like, integral to the events so far in Rising
Tbf, three man fireteams have been obliterating enemies on her level for years like it's nothing.
And Ikora is insanely more powerful than your average three guardians
It’s also possible it could be used to tutorialize Hive God Throneworld shenanigans further
true but the throne world makes the hive gods much more powerful which is why either Ir anuk is weak af or Ikora is op especially in a throne world
hence my inital confusion but new time line new rules maybe Ikora hates shotguns in this timeline lol
We got both Crota and Oryx in their’s, also it seemed to be Crota’s Throneworld and not Ir Anuk’s?
Plus without her sister she’s always been kind of a pushover 😉
lmao fair about the pushover but i thought it was her's and Crota just pushed his way in that's how I saw it
Could very well be true, I’m unaware of the limitations and behaviors of his oversoul
his oversoul is both his power source and like a vehicle for him to do whatever in the ascendant realm
I would have to grab my book of sorrow again
doin more missions. why is the servitor boss thats obviously a prime Niviks-3 instead of Niviks Prime? And also, why are the skiffs here Dusk instead of Devils?
my guess placeholders
I believe they use the Prime model for TONS of big servitors
I was under the impression that Dusk was a derivative of Devil, and they had the same skiffs. Do their skiffs differ?
color schemes mostly like the paint in the skiffs
the use a house of kings spiderwalker in the beginning missions the red and gold

NO WAY, THAT IS HIM ISNT IT
i thought his kit was susiciously similar
man they did a good job with his characterisation in that case, it makes his fate all the more tragic.
its peak fiction, im afraid
meant to reply to this
I think his characterization is a bit on the…annoying side, but yes his ability kit and gameplay style absolutely reflects his future in our reality all the more tragically.
Always the people’s shield I’m afraid.
yep and if this game goes on long enough we'll see it happen to him too
im one to not mind annoying characters, personally, but i get it
i just like that he tries to act bigger than he actually is and glorifies his stories, due to the implication
and in the end becoming one of the most imporant legends anyways
the two ahamkara weve seen alive so far very much share the same form, so it caught me a little off guard even knowing what you say to be true. morgrans design is just so unlike anything else weve seen, which is surprising considering how fantastical the franchise has already become
the 2 we've seen were mates Riven and Taranis makes sense they would choose similar forms to each other
i did consider that
That's my theory on that anyways
i as well believe it
no code day 2
I heard the codes are done for sadly
Well I'm pretty sure that's just cause that's how the Guardian(our main perspective)/their fireteam for LW viewed Riven, not so much just how their forms are. Teranis was her mate, so we'd view him in the same way.
But, they've been known to change their size/proportions, change into a human form, and even turn into a Western Medieval dragon so Saladin could become an actual dragon slayer.
Granted Ik the no-true-form idea of mine isn't likely, but for beings who can manipulate reality itself, it's not impossible either.
Sorry for the late response, I was on my lunch break during my last responses, I'm off work now
ok is sad thank you
Plus, it's also not unlikely that Radegast just wished for Morgren to look more welcoming as to not scare those in Haven, since at least how we've seen them, they're kind of terrifying actually.
You were entirely lied to. Invites are still being sent out.
i love the dichotomy between the deep and malicious voice with the rather cute and approachable appearance
Oh me too.
Tbf, I doubt he really speaks often to begin with, so he probabky just doesn't need to change it.
I just love him in general cause he seems a lot nicer than most ahamkara, like Taranis was. Though we haven't actually seen much from him yet.
the way he tries to encourage the player to lean into their greed, like i obviously should not trust this god-like thing, especially since its the literal definition of a demon... but it hasnt failed me yet! i just cant stop winning!
It’s just a really small area to dig behind the tank
Well from what I've seen so far, it sounds like radagast has somehow managed to limit Morgren from granting full wishes like normal, so I don't think we're at any real danger
I’ve been searching the area all day and I found two scrolls and then when I got the last one, it said incomplete or failure to complete the treasure hunt.
me making a wish to my eldritch pitbull to permanently limit its god-like powers so it becomes more approachable and cute to stop scaring away the children
Exactly
I'm a bit confused about where haven is supposed to be on earth. The lore for wolf says they were revived in the old city, south america, but on the map you can see that haven is in china, with the phillipines off to the left of the coast
and I was even more confused at first because there was edz type buildings but I think that's just reused assets
How does the whole Tan-2 situation work? Was his situation possible in the main timeline or is that another thing introduced in this AU?
I dont think theres precedent in the main lore, unless he ends up not being possessed and just has a personality disorder
Interesting, so maybe during his reboot to a -2 he picked up that other conscious with him. With that said, I’m guessing he rebooted around that guys lab? But they also had a -11. Maybe they rebooted at the same time and somehow had to share one unit? I’m not entirely sure how rebooted works in the main timeline.
Hell, the numbers after could mean something else considering the implications that this golden age was completely different to the D2, considering the Sentinels . With that said, Tan’s mission was definitely a highlight so far.
Numbers after an Exo's name is total number of resets to stave off DER, but there could be a situation that hasn't been explored yet like splitting an Exo into multiple bodies
Do you know who the whole exo process worked in the main timeline by chance?
Was it something like the movie “chappie”?
Oh man so theres like robot goo and a crazy head on Europa and mental trauma
I have not played Tan's mission yet, but im just going off what i know from what i know from the established stuff from D2
Oh man, it’s so good. I won’t say anymore. Super interesting stuff, it’s available in chapter 4.
Robot goo being made of the vex stuff? But like it was reverse engineered by Clovis in the main timeline right?
Main timeline = bungie’s Destiny, AU meaning Destiny rising
Oh hi arc!!!!
@timid dawn aye you made it in. Nice
so it's a prequel?
Yeah but it takes place in its own timeline, separate from Bungie’s Destiny.
Hello!
Howdy friend!
That wouldn’t be a prequel then. It completely separate to destiny bungie created. Who have no input on it
It's a VERY different timeline.
Small question. If Elsie or the Exo-stranger to some can travel between timelines does that mean we will have an exo-stranger that is the same person in Bungie Cannon and if so is it before or after she was in Bungie Destiny?
Don't think anything carries over from the beta anyways so I'm fine waiting for the full game
From the character quest Yannick says something about him being bound to Tan by his relic
if they want, they might actually do it
Could definitely be interesting
Lore
This one time, a character did something
Are relics a thing in destiny lore
Relics have been all the pick up weapons like the aegis and stuff ,but really just shares the name imo
I Image in just one other way to attune to the light, just like the other missions in Destiny 2, that reward you with the different asperents and weopons at the end
Didn't think this needed to be said but - someone will look here and wonder:
Destiny 1 and Destiny 2 are the same canon. Destiny: Risings is an Alternate Universe (AU)
It would be cool to see a hero wield the Aegis as a relic
(Prob won't happen but a Lightbearer can dream)
Kabr literally uses the aegis as his primary ability function.
Wait what’s his situation?
He basically has 2 people in one body
hes the dude that turned into the relic from vog LMAO
Not kabr ik that tan-2
What’s up with him?
Imagine in Destiny 2, Elsie Bray says that she visited another timeline where Rising happens
Cause I don't know if Bungie is going to make a connected multiverse
Talked about this before but the thing about Elsie's timeline traveling, if I'm remembering it right, it is part of a timeloop, and the looping takes place well after when Rising is set
Yeah loop starts after andal gets killed and Cayde becomes hunter vanguard
Bro he uses the stormshield not the aegis
These are for all intents and purposes the same thing. The thunder shield he currently has is the equivalent for rising. The D1/2 aegis cannot exist here as it is quite literally Kabr himself.
They’re almost identical in design as well.
That actually does kinda make sense
Yea. Remember the aegis was formed as a relic comprised of the remains of Kabr’s light after atheon basically said lmao get out. It was intended to defend future guardians against atheon
Tbh not really satisfied with how they introduced Wolf’s sword. “I am powerless (despite ghost being able to give power) but now I got a sword and can harness solar power” can someone explain it to me?
yeah that seems a little
iffy
i would like an explanation too if anyone can 🙏
can someone tell me about the kevin lore? I dont have access to the alpha
Where is the Brazilian chat moderation? The game won't be global, will it?
Yes, and before, implied that her loop ended with TFS. She cannot freely travel between timelines- she just got reset every time she died to a specific point
Well. actually probably no
because her loop starts late in the city age
Could get an early version of her tho
It will be global but as of now it’s just open for USA and Canada
LORE!!!
Please stop asking this. You were already answered the first 10times
From what it sounds like this timelines branches with the iron lords finding the ahamkara and using them instead of killing them
Or it's the Ahamkara using the Iron Lords. 0.0
No
If there’s a multiverse it’ll likely be via some vex related thing
Since the vex exist beyond our own understanding of their scale
Pois é, amigo. Não tem jeito. Espero que o jogo seja dublado ou no mínimo legendado.
please use english on the server thanks
the test only available on USA and Canada
Yes, I know that using English is recommended. But I just wanted to say something to someone who is from Brazil or speaks the language.
is there anyone who has gotten screenshots of ||the d1 styled warbeasts, incendiors and gladiators?|| i keep forgetting to get pics of them :(
also lore implications there are cool af cuz d1 didnt have them
Not just that but they seem to have brought back that thing they did in warmind where enemies wielding different weapons would be considered different enemies, for example originally sniper acolytes were called adherents, and in this game, they’re called fanatics, which could cause issues when the vex show up
The reason I mentioned this is because shotgun legionaries are now called vigils
yeah i really fw the distinctive names for certain enemies
because rn on my ipad, seeing enemies from far away at such a small reso it can be hard to tell what they are
and seeing adherent over an acoltye lets me know to not stand in its line of sight
same goes for other new names enemies
are there mentions of other regions being added in the future?
The DRCA is only available in the US and Canada at this time. Stay tuned to https://discord.com/channels/1267806213656023071/1268045787888222269 for updates on future tests.
appreciated
obi-wan is in lore 🐸
The Young wolf's howl... this could be the first wielder of it 🤔
Wolf is definitely this AU's version of "The Guardian" or "The Young Wolf", being customizable
Im late to the pre reg just realized closed beta was in full swing in just the few mins am I on the only one that's got iron banner/wolves vibe so far?
I just did the gauntlet onslaught that was really fun.
Sad knowing what happened to all these Iron lords in our own timeline. Hope they have a better destiny than they did in ours
Not the only one. 🙂
I mean wasn’t it Ikora (or someone from the bit of story when she’s introduced/joining your party) that literally does use the words ‘young wolf’ in a piece of dialogue
Why do people keep calling this an AU isn't it just a prequel?
No. It's an alternate universe.
It's a alternate timeline so yea an AU
Where does it deviate?
Nobody knows. It deviates somewhere during the start of the city age,
Ah
The game starts while the Last City is being constructed, until then, Haven is where we basically rest after each mission.
well, for starters, sentinels aren’t present in destiny 1 or 2 or any of their lorebooks
The vex do some wacky timeline things. Wouldn't be surprised if they took out the sentinels
brother the sentinels are gigantic robots
we would know of their existence in destiny 1 & 2 if they did
Alr gang I'm no professional I was just curious
That's why I brought up the vex messing with timelines. Figured they couldve done some timey wimey bs
what have you all found most interesting about the lore so far?
The way Bungie is so good at coming up with continuous lore that all links together
tan-2 has been a standout for me as an exo enjoyer
That Bad Juju is around
It’s like our favourite comic book got a new writer, but the world and characters are similar/the same
It's like the Injustice for DC, or Marvel's What If...?
they said it was an alternate universe in the announcement and there are things in the game's story that don't match up with how things happened in the main destiny universe
Ahh alright makes sense, thank you
Kinda wild how prevalent ahamkara seem to be in this alternate era of destiny. It’s like. night and day compared to the post great hunts era
I just realized that (even tho this is in a separate timeline) this game creates even more evidence for the Last City being in South America
Interesting? Howso?
First of all: in the character lore, it’s stated that Wolf was revived in the Old City in South America, and the Old City is very close to the Last City
Second of all: (spoiler warning) ||in the mission where you climb the space elevator in Jiangshi Metro, when you look at the surface, you can see what I believe to be Central America and parts of North America||
Wow that’s pretty explicit proof!
I still didn't get my code 😞
What does that have to do with the lore tho?
From the name i thought it was somewhere on the other part of the globe (like China)
I think after the collapse a lot of language overlap and sharing happened but don’t quote me
Tbh yea I’d agree but idk
If I remember correctly, in D1/D2, in game the last city is either in Russia or Nepal based on when your guardian is revived. However, a player used some science and topography to estimate it’s somewhere between Chile and Argentina.
Based on character grimiore and voice lines, though, I’d say there’s more proof on it being in South America.
There’s also the fact that in the Seraph Station mission, you can see geography that matches Chile
Then if it’s true that the Last City is in South America, then I find it funny that Shawn Hawn wanted us to drive all the way from Russia to South America on a sparrow
Lol true. On the other hand, Bungie artists could be using real life geography as references for the game spaces, forgetting where characters are supposed to be 😅
I really want to believe that the Last City is in Nepal or somewhere around there but there’s a lot of evidence proving that it’s in South America
Last City is probably South America. And Cosmodrome is Russia. Online, it says Hawthorne flew across the ocean when she heard the City’s distress signal which would mean across toward the Americas
I need help
I mean, sparrow floats so it might actually do it 😅
I beat a sentinel last night, the boss was wack
I was just thinking about this. We're already interacting with the Ahamkara and The Nine by the second section, wild stuff
When you're playing in a time before the rules were made, you're probably playing the reasons the rules were made haha, I'm expecting there to be some ahamkara and XI related issues all too soon
Not in the game yet so what exactly makes this an alternate timeline?
If I remember correctly Bungie confirmed it was Nepal when they had the 2015 charity for Nepal (i still wear the tshirt)
E: or i should say thats when my social group found out atleast
I don't have a cannon why but essentially they're adding in new material and remixing previous lore, like warlord dark ages setting but with modern stuff sprinkled in . Alternate time lines had some important cannon in d1/2 so some story beats may explain it eventually.
I'm really stoked we get to see/play? kabr!
Kabr is a bit of a dork
Kabr is basically how I imagined him
Minus the helmet
I imagine the Kabr that ventured the Vault and forged the Aegis in our timeline looked about the same just grizzled after years of defending humanity.
Jolder looks the same as the mainline destiny so I imagine Skorri and Radegast look/act the same as the mainline just wearing D1 Iron Lord gear
Characters like Ikora Rey, Lord Jolder and Wu Ming are really good benchmarks to see how heavily other characters would have probably developed since their early Dark Age Destiny: Rising selves, the most common denomintator, is less hair and more rugged (half kidding)
Okay. I havent played destiny 2 since like, one year ago, i think
So, is rising in another timeline?
What happend since lightfall
nimbus gassed the timeline up and we almost got wiped by da witness
dont fact check this its totally nimbus hole gas that did it
Correct. Rising is another timeline. Right before classes were ever a thing. (Before D1)
As far as I’m aware this is during the last city’s construction phase
we learned the balance of light and dark, eradicated the being that caused our collapse and the progenitor of most the enemy's we faced, now we are starting to learn the galaxy is not a happy place
And prepare to soon venture out into the unknown
And we also learned that the unveiling lore book is not from the perspective of the witness
Oooo that sounds good, i loved vog alot
After the Witness took its forces into the Traveler, the Shadow Legion began invading and setting up bases on Earth and began taking POWs from the settlements outside the city. We beat them with Queen Mara's help and began to repair The Farm, but this victory did not come without cost. We lost Amanda Holliday to a Shadow Legion attack.
Taken and Hive activity on the reappeared moon of Titan lead us to the missing Deputy Commander Sloane and the Proto-worm Ahsa. Sloane has been partially corrupted by Taken energy, which she used to predict the movements of her enemies and survive in Titan's hostile environment. Ahsa has been keeping Sloane's corruption at bay, and seeks to inform us on the Witness's origins so that we might better understand what it is and how to defeat it. We begin to salvage Golden Age tech from the newly returned Arcology, and a coral form of the Egregore fungus from Titan's methanic depths in order to strength Sloane's connection to Ahsa. ||We also disrupt an attempt by Xivu Arath and some Hive Guardians to resurrect Oryx with the Light, his corpse having fallen into Titan's depths. Oryx's worm is not recovered. Ahsa reveals that the Witness was once a civilization blessed by the Traveler and the Light, but their frustration at a lack of order in the universe led them to the study and use of Darkness and its paracausal lodestone, the Veil. They then decided to use a combination of Light and Dark to enforce their vision of perfect order and meaning on the universe, causing the Traveler to flee before they could succeed. The civilization, enraged at this development, used the Veil to form an Egregore, a gestalt joining of consciousness embedded in the Darkness, known as the Witness. The Witness gave chase, the Veil in tow. During the Collapse, Nezarec led the Black Fleet's assault on Earth, and at some point carried the Veil aboard his Pyramid. He was betrayed by Savathûn, who killed him, cursed his remains and spirited the Veil away to Neptune.||
Is it just me or "character driven games" (multiplayer in particular) are extremely immersion breaking? I mean for example going to a strike, pvp or raid with a team full of the same character (i.e. 6 Ikoras) is kind of annoying/uncomfortable to me; that's what drove me away from games like First Descendant or SYNCED, I think it would be better to be able to create my own character and instead of pulling for a character, pull for the character "soul" or the character "spirit" or (my personal favorite) the character "teachings" (and gear) then instead of playing that character and risking having a lot of the same ones in the same team, I can "attune" to the character "teachings" and it would be my personal unique character, behaving as its "mentor" this also solves the long lived issue in this kind of games of having "gender-locked" classes, this way I can have girl avatar who can play as Zavala, or my manly avatar who can play as Ikora.
Character driven works well for mostly solo games such as genshin, but for multiplayer is a very different experience
It also looks very dumb going and talk to Ikora as Ikora. Lorewise it makes no sense.
Something something the IX something something Ahamkara Wish something something Paracausality something something Vex simulation
All character continuity problems solved!
thats just a lazy way of solvin it
Exactly
I, personally, like the character aspects of the game. Lore-wise, your point still stands and I understand that, but I enjoy the progression and strategic aspects of having a character driven system
perhaps they'll make a modifier that enforces no dupe characters in the future
tbh I just want my scythe wielding goth girl
Ikora and Eris strike a bargain with Immaru. They will release Savathun's body to be resurrected, in exchange for her aid in going through the portal in the Traveler. Savathun, ever the schemer, left a message behind in a mysterious Spire. She will assist, but only if the Vanguard eliminate her sister, Xivu Arath, as a threat. Taking up the challenge against the war god herself, Eris ascends as the latest Hive God in their pantheon with the Guardians tithing tribute to her through Savathun's collection of specimens in her laboratory-oubliette, the Altars of Summoning. ||The Vanguard also encounter the Imbaru Engine, a mind-bending pocket realm above the Altars meant to generate Imbaru for Savathun, and encounter an Ahamkara egg at the center of it.|| After enough tribute is gathered, Savathun is resurrected by Immaru and killed by Eris, who uses the tribute gained from her death to become the true Hive God of Vengeance, and utilizes her newfound power (instead of finishing the ritual and challenging the War God) to sever Xivu Arath’s connection to the Black Terrace, her Throne World, and banish her from it, making her mortal and vulnerable. The resulting strain takes its toll on Eris, expending all of her power. She is no longer the Hive God of Vengeance, and has no desire to ever be again. Savathun is resurrected again, and leaves Immaru in Vanguard custody as a peace offering/insurance policy, to be crushed if the Vanguard ever believes Savathun to be plotting against them.
Imagine if you can create your own goth girl and equiping any other weapon/skill, mix and match, this way you could look the same without sacrificing on content/progress
that would be a nightmare for match-making
Only if you lack imagination. Create a lockout arcade style roster where players choose a loaner character for the activity.
but that would defeat the need of pulling for characters, the game wouldn't make money that way
Does anyone have a bios for all the characters yet? Or where you can view them if they aren’t unlocked?
I think you have to unlock the first to read their bios
were sentinels ever discussed in destiny lore prior to rising?
No, they didn't exist, as far as we know, or at least if they did, were completely different or just scrapped down to an unnoticable detail
so there may have been certain artifacts left over but never told in game/lore
it makes sense. I'm sure much was lost after the collapse
It's completely possible. We simply have no idea, but at the same time? In our Destiny world, the Golden Age didn't intentionally produce many weapons publically, they didn't see a need.
Rasputin and the Warminds basically did the Sentinels job, but way better.
But hey, as long as humanity has mecha otaku, somebody will try to make a giant robot.
(Though, there was concept art of giant buried dead robots from D1, from 9 years ago. I would provide the link or the screenshots, but discord isn’t allowing it. Look up Dorje Bellbrook on artstation.)
finally got an exotic outside of the one they give you
Image permissions are linked to your activity level on this server. You'll get them eventually. 👍
Grabbed those for you
Damn that's a huuuuuuuuuge exo. I'd love to patrol some Braytech Exo Mega grave yard like that desert in the art
Maybe that's what Clovis was building on Europa. Only finished the head and shoved an AI into it, though.
Thanks!
Ive never seen these, and ive seen the stuff with the giant frog lol. Thats pretty dope
In case anyone hasn't seen da frog
Daaaamn. That means new exotics and new bad guys yeayyy
Holy fvck11ing sh111t
I wanna play now destiny 2 and rising so bad
Thanks, man
there are races in destiny beside the ones we've faced that have been described by Cabal and Hive and the Disciple's of the Black Fleet that are horrifying
Arkborn are described to be living Arc energy
The Qugu, were shapshifting race we fight one named Nezarec the Final God of Pain
if it weren't for the Eurhythmia we probably wouldn't have deafated the Witness and its Black Fleet
the best example of the Horrors are the Aphelion
they only been described once as a "glowing creature" it has been stated that they are extremely dangerous, malevolent and stealthy. They have claimed the lives of many Awoken, including the inhabitants of the RSS Amestris and three Techeuns.
"First it shimmered... then it crawled... then it screamed."
— Shuro Chi, quoting the last words of an unnamed Techeun killed by the Aphelion.
even some of the ones we know about we don't actually know were they're origin is.
the Vex are theorized to be here since the beginning of the
universe
and even after defeating the Witness the Taken are still a anomaly with clear explanation. all I know is it wasn't the Witness that gave Oryx the ability to take,
Correction: There is no confirmation that Nezarec is a Qugu nor is there even any implication of the slightest relationship between the two. The Qugu are described as bipedal creatures descended from herd animals, with cephalopod-like bodies mounted on two reverse-jointed legs, a head with dark eyes ringed by a mane of (at least) fifteen tentacles, and a single arm protruding from their chest. (Source - Dynasty Lore Book)
that frog looks awesome
Happy to help! Its not everything (We're still missing Season of the Wish, Lightfall, Echoes, and current events of Revenant), but the moderater keeps thinking its spam. 😢
nerd
Yup, we got a new enemy faction in the last expansion, The Dread, and post Final Shape Expansion we are dealing with new/slightly updated presentations of older enemies in the current seasonal content such as a new Scorn Enemy Unit and some extremely minor tweaks to the vex
Maybe the scorn will appear thanks to fallen enemy types. I look forward to the crota storyline with ikora. Maybe taken enemies much sooner in this timeline?
Also the benefits of speeding up the enemy types appearances would be cool for power reasons. So maybe a new playable type that uses strand? Taken abilities mixed with weapons like something similar to vex mythloclast but with taken version? Some bullets convert enemies to taken allies then they are weakened after becoming our helpers?
We could probably see a character with Taken esque abilities but theyll probably just be void. The 3 element structure will be very important for the structure of this game
Is cayde in this?
Not at this moment, no
Noooooo!
There’s mentions of him tho
Really? I haven't been reading the lore tabs, lol
I didn’t even know there were lore tabs in rising 🤣
There are! Each character has one.
I believe Ikora's diary is the one that mentions Cayde
Ah
I'll definitely have to look at that
I always skim past em, I just wanna do more activities, lol
Same
Hmm, can't find it
Ikora's diaries (what is currently available anyways) makes note of Osiris, Saint-14 (who "has" a cookbook), and Andal Brask (who wrote said cookbook). No mention of Cayde in her diary.
However, the Arion sparrow does make mention of Cayde and Shaxx. This is apparently the legendary sparrow that Cayde and Shaxx rode from their dodgeball game
Ah, yeah, thanks.
The Arion description is just lifted from the same sparrow in d2 so it might not be cannon to rising
I figure it probably isn't canon, but it's still the only mention of Cayde I've seen, even if it's non canon
So Zavala was an awoken, resurrected on earth yeah in the D1-2 canon timeline? If his cinematic trailer is to be referenced that is.
I'm guessing that means it'll be quite a long time before we could possibly see him in game, because not only do we need the awoken to show up to earth, we need them to start the Reef Wars against the house of wolves right? That's a helluva timeline
There's an Awoken in Rising. Skorri is either awoken or mysteriously blue for no reason.
As far as I can tell she's the only one, though.
Zavala seemed to be risen right as the city was starting to be built. Which... is now, in the Rising timeline.
There’s awoken in rising? Interesting thanks for the info!
The Awoken arrived after the Battle of Six Fronts, which was right after the walls of the City were first constructed. But tbh I feel the lore about this doesn’t make much sense. Due to both Zavala’s cinematic trailer as well as his cutscenes, making it look as if he arrived right at the end of the Dark Ages, before the City Age, and helped with the construction of the Walls. Much of Zavala’s lore feels like it belongs in the Dark Ages rather than the start of the City Age.
But hey maybe I’m misinterpreting the lore
Dont worry
So if it is an alternate timeline , is posible that oryx never whent full darkside
Oh wait we still fighting the fallen , so Riis fell
As far as we are aware, everything before the traveler arrived on earth happened as expected. And the real big changes seem to have occurred around the golden age of humanity and the Traveler’s tenure in sol?
Fundament got destroyed; Riis got sacked by the hive/taken; the vex are probably doin weirdness on Europa; and crota is probably somewhere in Sol already
Crota seems to be either already on the moon or on his way to the moon
Yup absolutely
Major difference I've noticed is that in this timeline, the light was able to be infused into things. Hence the relics and whatnot.
The question I have is are the lightbearers of rising still able to wield the light effectively like in the main timeline if they lost their relics?
at that point I'd suspect that ghosts have a completely different purpose entirely
cuz usually ghosts are the medium from which guardians wield the light
or maybe the entire concept of a relic is just because there are no classes
That, or it's quite possible that infusing light into weapons was always a thing, but simply became forgotten overtime.
the classes/disciplines are meant to act as a proverbial focusing lens for light powers anyways
For example, the Golden-Gun sniper rifle would actually fit perfectly in this universe,
Only a lightbearer can draw the light out of a relic it seems.
But the light can power things it's infused with
Light can be infused into things in the main game as well. Kabr made the Aegis (D1-2) by infusing his Light into some Vex parts. There are some things that get infused with Light (Cayde's Ace and Ana's weapons). Leveling up our gear is infusing it, but that may be different. But my head canon is that it's still early enough where most Lightbearers aren't able to use their Light to the same effect we can in D1-2. The Vanguard made the class system to help make it easier for New Lights to learn how to wield and use the Light, and that's after a long time of being able to use and research the Light. Tan-2's lore talks about how before he found his Relic other Lightbearers would make fun of him because without a relic most Lightbearers can't use the Light that well. Wolf gets the sword super early and uses it as a way to hone their Light. Someone had asked this same question in another channel the other day and this is the example I used, which I think sums this up really well: Eramis and House Salvation used Splinters of Darkness to wield Stasis. After a while with Stasis, they were able to use it without a Splinter. We needed a Splinter to use it for a while too. Splinters helped hone their focus to make it easier to use Stasis while they adjusted to it. Relics are our Splinters.
Relics seem to hold that role in this timeline
Tan says it's hard for a lightbearer before they find their relic
That's a good way of explaining it, thanks!
You're welcome! Always happy to rant about the lore
Are some of the fallen our friends in this one?
There’s Kevarrh, a former member of House of Devils
Cool!
Do we think we're ever gonna be calling them Eliksni in game
I'm sure we'll call them Eliksni at some point, but Fallen is gonna stay the main term for them. We didn't start to shift to Eliksni until Season of the Splicer when we housed Misraaks and House of Light and saw them for what they are, and that was partly because of Crow pushing so heavily for everything to work out. We're in a time period where Fallen raids (and tales of them eating dead babies) are still fresh in people's minds and happen a lot, so I doubt there will be any shift to calling them Eliksni anytime soon. Maybe if Kevarrh decides to rally Eliksni to our side, but I'm doubtful that would work. Plus, we don't know when it happened in our time, but Saint may not have had his crusades agaisnt the Fallen yet, so I'm very doubtful we call anyone other than Kevarrh Eliksni. Even then, I'm pretty sure Kevarrh and Variks accepted the name Fallen, since they both openly talked about the depths to which their people have fallen, so even less of a reason to call them Eliksni. TL;DR, not likely
People occasionally use Eliksni in-game, both in this and in D2 before Splicer.
Attal helps foster a bunch of eliksni children.
(those two are not accessible in-game yet)
There's already eliksni in Haven aside from Kevarrh, we just don't see them.
Interesting, I hadn’t looked at Attal’s lore yet so I didn’t know that. So maybe there is hope, I like that
She asks all of the other lightbearers to help her teach them
The ones who accepted are Tan-2, Kabr, and oddly Ning-Fei
Looks like I’ll be running strikes when I get back on later to get more lore then lol
And we fight the (I thin) daughter of Crota? Crota comes up a good bit
Ir Anuk is Crota's sister
Beat me to it
She's also almost certainly still alive due to ascendant hive shenanigans
Huh, didn't know that. She and her sister were created from Oryx cutting a larva in half.
Yall think they'll open up the Red Sea rift later in the alpha or will we have to wait until beta?
I have a theory that this timeline is part of the Dark Future when elsie is forced to kill Anna and Eris Morn becomes the Witch Queen
That would be really cool
This could have elements of the Dark Timeline in it, but this is NOT that timeline. Elsie's timelines always reset to the day Cayde became Hunter Vanguard, events after that would change but not before. There's already things in game that happened that didn't happen in the main universe, so this is already not one of Elsie's loops. Maybe this universe's Elsie will have loops, but it won't be THE Dark Timeline
I need this game so badly
So someone on reddit made a post discussing who the community's least favourite character is, and it seems based on comments to be Kabr by a massive margin. As someone not in the alpha I am really curious as to why, why is Kabr so loathed?
Probably because no one thought the titan who would eventually infuse a piece of their light/essence into a relic that would be the key our victory in the Vault of Glass to end up being “dorky”? 🤷♂️ *I don’t really care, we don’t know how he was when was first resurrected.
They didn't expect someone who got super involved in something Vex related to be a dork? Pretty much every vex-associated character is a huge dork lmao
They could never make me hate you Kabr 🗣️
Guy's got a meerkat how could you hate that
I never even noticed that omg
That's what he keeps telling to not eat his seeds
I want a meerkat T^T
oh my gosh
Shaw Han is secretly aztecross
secretly?
Tounge and cheek thing
Kabr's the most annoying character, Attal's the worst character to play with
my only issue (which is hardly and issue since its an AU) with the lore is how gummy everything feels
Only Warlord mentioned I've seen is Yannaick-11
The Iron Lords seen like they're own separate individuals compared to the knight order we see in D1&2
and no Hunter esq character without a hood or handcannon is a crime
Actually a couple warlords are mentioned in character lores. Saladin is also mentioned as well.
I did see Saladin in Jolders lore tab
And Shaxx too
Finnala won't stop talking about Saladin
Gwynn's backstory is also about a warlord named Walter.
A couple of characters have had important run-ins with warlords.
was Walter cookin
🤣🤣
Wait what, I didn’t play alpha, but Gwynn is involved with iron lords?
Warlords, yes. Basically it says in the lore that ||literally 3 hours after being revived, she was captured and enslaved by a warlord||
after seeing the similarities of Destiny 1 Jolder & Destiny Rising Jolder and other characters that cross over
with the only difference is being armor
im now imagining mainline Radegast, Skorri, etc looking the same as their Destiny Rising counterparts but wearing Iron Companion or any D1 Iron Lord set
Damm that’s harsh, the thing is I feel like they will have more playable characters in the future, so we can look forward to that.
So is Byf gonna cover this IP as well or let some new lore master take the job so he has Destiny lore to fall asleep too
Burn in hell bot
Who let him in
I think someone like Evaze took up the role, he is also a really good lore master that you can check out.
Agree with evaze
MyNameIsJef will take over for Byf on this one
what if Byf has a MatPat style retirement and has someone else take over
but like on a different channel
-# MyNameIsJef
I think from his videos and socials he is undecided if leaning towards not covering it
I would think Byf has done enough for the Destiny Canon universe and I'm sure he'll still wanna be in the loop just not the main research, dudes gotta have something to watch about Destiny lore that he didn't make I'd imagine; Besides him do any other content creators identify as lore oriented?
do we know what kabr's meerkat's name is? i saw his idle animation w it while i was playing earlier and it took me completely by surprise lol
he has a meerkat?!
Ya! You can see his meerkat in one of his idle animations ^_^
omg
Just saw it, I love him even more now
Kabr alive in rising while the canon universe, Kabr shield save us from Witness
The Aegis is one of the most important relics in the main timeline
Shielded us from getting erased by the timeline, and the Traveler manifests it to protect us from the Witness
By "relic" I mean the main game interpretation of a gadget you pick up, like the Haunted solar scythes, the Aegis, or Hive swords
Yah I know Vault of Glass
yeah!! kabr's always been one of my fav 'off-screen' characters we got in the lore so i was super hyped to know he's playable here
at first i wasnt sure ab the way they wrote him here but he's grown a lot on me, i'm interested to see where they take his character
Annual Pass combo is 50% off on Xbox for Black Friday.
This is the cheapest it’ll ever get.
i need it to be cheap on Steam :p
Well rising is set before all that so
Rising is alternative universe
Still, it's set in the dark age
Destiny Rising is in the dark age of a completely seperate timeline to Destiny and D2. However, the only things that could potentially tie both timelines would be the Vex and/or a (hypothetical) involvement of Elsie in some way. I know Elsie only ever gets sent back to right before the Witness' victory.
It's actually the very beginning of the city age. Like the very beginning. Transitional out of dark ages you could say.
Radegast shows us the construction of the buildings under the traveler, and the lore terminal mentions it's the city age in a few spots, most notably collectibles.
I’m 99% positive that the Witness is a constant. So, if we assume that the formation of the Witness systematically lined up every event then we need to determine what event created the timelines to be different.
If the enemies are the same and so on, there must be a specific occurrence which led to them being different timelines.
I think this concept for Destiny could lead to very awesome multi-verse events further down the road. In D2 we know that because of the infinite forest alternate futures can exist and do in a constant, which is why Saint-14 was found and brought to the prime timeline (this is how I will refer to the Main D2 timeline). I love Destiny lore and all its interpretations. 🤣
Prime timeline…
Primeline. Thank me later.
As far as we can tell so far, everything in DR and D2 played out exactly the same up to some point in the Golden Age. Something happened that allowed Lanyue (the company that built on the Moon in D2) to be able to create the Sentinels. We’re told that the Sentinels were Lanyue’s way of “competing with Clovis and the Warmind”. This is the earliest indicator of what changed between the two universes, at least until we get more lore from the Fallen and Hive, as that’s how we learned most of the universes history
That is incredibly fascinating. So it means, something happened to give Lanyue a leg up in the tech advancement. That is really intriguing! Thank you for responding!
I wish sentinels were a thing in D2
Eh, I mean, they might include them as a reference in a future episode, but, that might be it
i mean, there was a collapse in dr, right?
Yea but they could’ve gone with the “collapse but different” route in this game
We have physical evidence the collapse was a bit different. There weren't no kaiju vs mech fights in the prime timeline.
Or maybe we just haven’t been to any location that has said Kaiju vs Mech fights. The Old City is in South America. We’ve only been to Europe or Russia
I really want sentinels to be canon in the prime timeline
I feel like if they existed in the prime timeline, the Vanguard would be constantly trying to stop the technology from being retrieved by other races. Not to mention SIVA would have been terrifying if it was able to invest a sentinel.
Here’s hoping this could one day happen in the DR timeline.
I just want my badass anime mechs T^T
God SIVA infesting a sentinel is such a cool idea
I know right! Would make for an awesome Onslaught encounter down the road!
Me too 😩
awwww
Which is why you make ya own timeline and lore with already written and existing lore for a story you wanna make (which I have done multiple times) which would probably make destiny have a type 51 multiverse but hey the vex are a thing so yeah
REAL
Holy based p3 fan
whats up with the tree? is the traveler not a thing in this game?
My friend. You can literally see the traveler while in haven
ignore the second question
Didn’t they explain that in the beginning of the game
Not really
But from the beginning cutscene, I believe that the tree is created when a piece of the Traveler fell to Earth.
i just assumed it was a tree of silver wings 🤔
It's shaped kind of differently from one, but we've also never seen one fully grown
And this one's grown enough to have seedlings
So just curious, Destiny Rising is canon, just set in the past, right?
its an alternate universe or something
Can someone summarize rq what the new game is gonna be taking place setting wise?
The prologue, which we have played in the alpha, is about Haven, a satellite city supporting the construction of the Last City and functioning as the headquarters of the Iron Lords. Radegast, the founder and leader of the Lords, wants to reestablish a global communications network, which is located in a place called Jiangshi Metro. The story so far is about supporting Jiangshi, reinstating trust in the Iron Lords, and defeating the Fallen threats that are in and around the city. Also a quick detour for Ikora to discover the Hive and piss Crota off/impress him by killing his sister, Ir Anûk. That's the major open thread at this point.
Ok sweet so this is taking place pretty close after the collapse?
Not quite that early, but we are just out of the dark age by maybe a few decades. City Age is just starting.
Ok awesome. Thanks for the info!
It’s a bit weird that it’s a completely different timeline and not canon…idk…I feel like it should follow canon. Personally, I don’t think I might spend a whole lot of time on it then. The lore is the main thing for me, ngl.
I mean given the fact that bungie is NOT developing this game, it really isn’t
Plus this will probably be the only time we get some storyline during this time period
honestly as much as the AU aspect is kind of a bummer (i wouldve really loved to see how the canon lore we've read about actually played out) i kinda take it as a blessing in disguise, destiny's universe is Massive and i'm honestly enjoying the direction we're seeing things being taken rn. it's a fresh take on the franchise's worldbuilding without feeling like its stepping on any toes
that and the fact that we get to explore diff lightbearers' stories the more we get to play as them -- i feel like we actually have a personal stake in things rather than being the metaphorical "camera with a gun" and it adds a lot of depth to the world that i wasnt expecting to see here
I kinda treat this game like a “Star Wars: Visions” of Destiny, an isolated and stylised remix of a beloved franchise that takes the best parts of it into unique and not always expected directions.
Whilst it is sure a bit disappointing that our first non-mainline destiny game isn’t in Destiny’s canon, that’s not really a game problem and more of just a franchise problem so it’s easy to be excited about Destiny: Rising for what it is rather than what it isn’t
Tbh I like the fact the Destiny Rising is in an alternate timeline. Allows the freedom of creating unique stories within the Destiny ip without breaking canon or any other pre-established lore
I'm interested in seeing alternate takes on big events
Me too.
Anyone know the canonical size of ships in Destiny? Ima asking cuz the exterior and interior of the ships don’t usually match. (Looking at you, cabal ship in the EDZ)
Depends on the ship and subtype?
Guardian ships? Typically 1-2 pilot vessels but
some have been much larger than that.
As far as we can tell using Saint 14's "Gray Pigeon" as an example, a mostly standard small guardian ship is presumably about 15-20 (aiming closer to 20) Meters long, with barely enough interior space
for a pilot's seat and emergency crawl space (as most guardians typically transmat in and out of
vessels, and frankly saint's airlock hatch is way too high up in its boarding space to be accessible
by any means other than traveling prone.) With some vessels such as the Unixursial Voyager
having no manual entrance
Next largest ship type is probably a Thresher, a cabal single-pilot vessel aerial assault vehicle, guardians can obtain a damaged/disarmed version which when accounting for all its damage
and missing wings/parts is about 1/3rd larger than a standard guardian ship.
However it is also worth mentioning that the Cabal aren't the most consistent class of ship
because unlike the Fallen/Scorn Dread, and Hive,
the Cabal reuse extremely similar craft silhouettes and naming conventions for similarly
designed crafts of different sizes, the best litmus test for this is the Cabal Warship:
A cabal warship has a few different sizes depending on classification.
Dominus Ghaul's "The Immortal" is 620m per its concept art, whilst Empress Caiatl's Imperial Warships, though the same structure, are large enough to be seen from orbit as well as house
most of the surviving Cabal from Torobatl, which would probably make them a few KM long
Not to mention Calus' Shadow Legion refitted ones which were heavily modified with pyramid
tech even having what looked like a new power system, and these were larger than Ghaul's but still far smaller than Caiatl's
Unlike the Cabal, the Hive are pretty easy, they have their regular Tombships which don’t really have interiors as they seem to drop
in enemies from the ascendant plane or some other non-physical domain, and then larger
Warships that were made from parts of Akka like the Dreadnaught was.
The warships although not unanimous in size, have all been many many kilometres long, with the Dreadnaught having the
largest size and span before even factoring in how it bleeds into the Ascendant Plane.
However there's also Savathûn's ship, The Lure, which is of indeterminate origin or size, but it's pretty small compared to most hive vessels, probably about 2/3rds the scale of a Hive War Ship
The Fallen are also pretty painless, there's skiffs, which have room for like 20 fallen to ride in on travel hitches, plus like a pilot or two and a gunner or two, which makes sense because we can see most of their passengers riding them outside the ships so interior doesn’t really factor
Then there's Pirate Ketches, which we fully explored and saw the scale of in Season of Plunder, then we have regular Ketches, which can
usually hold a few hundred fallen and are large enough to store skiffs
And then there's a very small number of huge Ketches that could probably hold a fallen house each like the one we see in the cosmodrome skybox
The dread are super simple and extremely consistent as their ships only serve as troop carriers and little else, each of them are gigantic, like large cities each, those then have Pyramid Scales, which are about the size of a regular guardian ship and don't seem to physically hold their passengers but instead are likely just glorified darkness based flying transmat beacons
The only gaps in this are the Typhon inperator which was a Calus-Modified Pyramid Ship; The
Witness' Pyramid (which was larger than the rest), and The Final Shape's Pre-Order Bonus pyramid ship which could be argued was not made by the Witness’ people
Cough cough Colony Ships cough cough Exodus Black cough cough
I wonder what new characters will be added to the game once it fully releases
Ngl I wanna see if Cayde 6 will be a playable character
Odds are it is definitely possible, but who would be his voice? It will be a big event I would assume whenever he does show up.
I also wonder if his personality will be the same or he could be different 😐.
I also think any further Prime timeline characters being in it will definitely be big events.
I mean if the first thing he did when he was revived was backhand Sundance and run off a cliff, I’d say he’s the same Cayde we all know and love
Imagine if we get a playable Shaxx or Saladin or smth. Maybe even see Felwinter in person for once too would be cool
Shaxx will be awesome.
Felwinter would be really interesting
id kill to play eris i love her
it would be cool to see what eris was like before the hellmouth
We could use another arc hunter
I still think a night stalker hunter character would be amazing
Cool I got Jade Rabbit. Not what I wanted but this will make a fine addition to my collection
what questions do people have regarding the lore of destiny rising? anything youd like to see in the future?
Relics explained, why lightbearers need them in this continuity compared to Bungie's Continuity where lightbearers seem that they don't exactly need a conduit to channel their light through
The tree of light.
Yeah! like if there were/are Kaijus.
I mean the hammer is in the middle of an enormous ribcage
But what sort of creature was it? Leviathan? Worm God? Ahamkara? Something new?
I think the rumor entry says that a lot of Sentinels ended up hunting Ahamkara?
Still, I'm very curious for more direct answers
Hmm, what else.
An AI🙃😭
At the very least the vanguard and awoken will be, almost certainly
Most likely during this age, lightbearers aren’t skilled enough to create light constructs yet. The class system was created as a way for lightbearers to more easily use the light, similar to learning a new fighting style. So since this takes place before the class system was created, there was no way to learn new light abilities and so lightbearers proceeded to use relics to be able to fight with the light.
To anyone who has had any doubts: yeah they lesbians
The diary page is fun.
Crowther talks Attal into cooking some nasty old english cuisine like jellied eels and black pudding. Gwynn is not impressed.
@cunning bison gwynn mentioned
They are actually so cute
The lesbians. I’m their biggest supporter ❤️
Gwynn and Attal are partners
Awww so cute 😍 💕 💖
That’s nice
She ate I fear and yes she is. She’s Attal’s partner, I’m like their biggest supporter
I realized that Destiny really likes their gay relationships (not hating)
My favorite being Devrim and Mark because that makes Devrim Mark’s man (get it?)
Late to the party, but it's the same situation as House Salvation and their Splinters of Darkness. They used Splinters to harness Stasis, and over time they learned how to better wield it and can use it without Splinters. We were in the same boat with Stasis, we needed a Splinter to use Stasis until Eramis took it from us, at which point we managed to get a better grasp on it and use it ourselves. Strand is also kinda similar, in Lightfall we found areas where Strand was easier to wrap our fingers around and were able to use it.
In Destiny: Rising, it's still early enough where not a lot of research into the Light has happened and it's kinda hard to use the Light sometimes if you don't know how to properly channel the Light. Since Relics are connected to the Light (often a weapon that a dead Lightbearer used) they act as a conduit that makes it easier to use the Light. It's like riding a bike, your first time you may be able to go a tiny bit before falling, but it's gonna require a lot of practice before you really get anywhere with it. Relics are basically training wheels, make it easier to use the Light/ride the bike, and once you're experienced enough you can move past them.
As for why we don't have them in D2, there's a lot of Lightbearers and not enough Relics, and with the development of the classes (meant to streamline the New Light process) and more knowledge of the Light, it's easier to use and doesn't require a relic. If a New Light found my old sword, sure they could use it as a relic, but there's other options now that don't rely on a New Light to hope for an old rusty relic in order to use the Light
Damn that’s a lot of words
I mean we've talked about this before but I just replied to dude because they're a content creator and is looking for topics to focus on when a full release comes out.
That's on me, I didn't think about that being the color for creators. And since it has been asked before I figured I'd repeat it, that's my bad
All good buddy! It's been a while since then so I don't blame you.😄
Kind of reminds me of how Aspects are physical items...for the most part. Some of them are a little esoteric, like Weaver's Call.
Wait if relics are weapons connected to the light, does that mean Microchasm and Ergo Sum are relics as well?
In my own little theory, I feel like the balance of dark energies outweight the light's in this universe and it makes it more difficult to harness the light to make constructs out of it. This makes guardians require relics to use as conduits.
Yup and now we have flaming sword. Lightning staff. Purple shield
Wonder where they got that idea from
Yup
Say, out of all the characters in Rising, what characters have been mentioned before in the lore?
Afaik
Kabr, Ikora, and Jolder are the only currently playable characters that have been mentioned in D1-2 lore, couple NPCs are also part of D1-2 lore
I mean the card vendor is basically Drifter
Eido calling him Germaine back in season of plunder was wild
He was called Germaine?!
Was it deep?
Radegast, Skorri, and Drifter are the only NPCs currently in game that are from D1-2 lore, sure there will be more
Eido would’ve been Plunder, Eris may have called him Germaine though
What was Skorri’s lore back then?
Oh yeah forgot about Skorri
He’s gone through several names, Germaine and Wu Ming are the 2 we know of
Damn wasn’t expecting the Drifter to be called Germaine. What’s next? Joe?
As far as I’m aware, her lore until D:R has been: she’s an Iron Lord. She died with the other Iron Lords
I find it interesting how we first heard Targe and Sundance’s voices in The Final Shape and yet the closest thing we’ve had for Ikora’s ghost has been in Rising
Probably been called Joe before. He’s said he’s lived many lives and gone by many names, he spent time at Felwinter’s Peak running a bar and hid his Light from the Iron Lords so who knows what all he’s done and been called
I hope we get Felwinter as a playable character
When will we get an official introduction to Ophiuchus in D2?
There hasn’t been much lore that involves her Ghost, mainly just small talk between Ikora and Ophidicus. I think they don’t talk much nowadays, they may have said why but I can’t remember
I know at one point they stopped talking to each other for years but that’s about it for me
Also apparently we stopped Ikora from committing in D2
I heard this lore where after the Red Legion attacked the Last City, Ikora fled to Io and slaughtered as many cabal as she could. Afterward, exhausted and injured, she went to a cliffs edge and nearly walked off. If it wasn’t for her sensing our arrival, she would’ve been gone
I’d love Felwinter, we know he’d be another Exo using Well, but there’s lots of options for him. Just wonder how they would handle it
Did he use well frequently in the lore?
I'd like them to have him summon valkyrie spears
That’ll be cool
We've seen him before, he's just quiet.
Maybe like a toss then activate for a solar explosion
Playable Shaxx/Saladin anyone?
There’s an entry where he goes to Shaxx (who’s a Warlord, but a good Warlord and treats those taking shelter under kindly) and tries to get Shaxx to join the Iron Lords but Shaxx refuses. Felwinter casts Well in order to help provide warmth during a snowstorm I think
Targe, Sundance, and Ophiuchus are hanging around their respective guardians around the war table in D1
Oh yeah i remember that one
Hehe. Wasn’t that the time where Shaxx repeatedly slapped Felwinter’s head off?
They had a fight about Osiris's exile and didn't talk for like 60+ years
That was a while ago though
It is. I actually had typed that but the bot blocked my message lol
I thought it was about that but wasn’t sure
Yea but I mean like a full on personality introduction. Cuz we haven’t seen much of Targe and Sundance’s personalities in game (outside of lore books) until the Final Shape. Unless I missed an introduction before
We saw Sundance's personality a bit during Red War.
She was kind of ditzy.
Well I guess there’s that
One of her personality quirks was she would often get out of the quantum backpack into dangerous situations
Which...is related to her death.
Damn
Targe we didn't hear much about before Final Shape.
But still I’d like to hear what Ophiuchus sounds like in d2
The closest thing we have is in D:R
I want to say that Cayde's death was one of the first times Ophiuchus and Ikora spoke in a while but I'm not sure
Funnily enough the first time they spoke was actually in Curse of Osiris. The first time they had spoken in 61 years
"If understanding their ability to manipulate simulations and, in doing so, appear to travel to different times is our goal, then…" She stops and turns to look… at me?
"What do you think, Ophiuchus?"
She hasn't spoken to me in 22,303 days. I haven't spoken to her in almost as long. I'm speechless.
"You're not just my Ghost. We were friends, once. I want to know what you think."
I try to maintain my composure. I don't think it works. "I'm glad you asked."
- lore extract from universal wave function
Honestly they have one of the weirdest guardian ghost dynamics in D2 canon and I love it
Exploring lightbearer ghost dynamics is one of my favorite things that's happening in DR
Absolutely
When we got that taste of it in The Final Shape, I was so hyped to see even more of it in DR
I really like the interactions between Gwynn/Crowther, Wolf/Zev, and Tan/Tethra (despite Tethra only having one line of dialogue outside of story missions)
Me too, I am so hyped for more!
tan tethra 💯. i want more
Okay y’all. Don’t know if someone has asked this already but:
If you could choose one key event from the prime timeline to change, either slightly or significantly, what would it be? Obviously for including into DR.
would be cool to see more about the hive being talked about, including oryx being added into dr
I would guess that locked patrol area will have hive and more story
One key event?
I’d move The Drifter’s Return to the Last City to happening in Beyond Light era rather than forsaken era
Ohhhh that’s interesting!
I’d like to see the Iron Lords actually succeed in stopping SIVA and survive
Aww that would be awesome!
Not necessarily a change but I need to see more of the sentinels because that threw me off big time at first
For sure! More sentinel stuff!
There is a giant sentinel hand next to the tree at Haven (I think it’s a sentinel hand)
they showed up like twice and didn't come up again, yeah
Well, we only got to visit the hammer the first time to empower wolf’s relic; I assume more Sentinel stuff could happen in later chapters that aren’t tutorial-pathed.
Let us use a sentinel or at least have it fight along side us
I’m happy with just a cutscene.
Why give us something cool and not use it?
Let us have an epic ass pacific rim style fight with the sentinels
I mean, maybe a quick time event?
Buzzkill. It would be cool if implemented well
🤣🤣 sorry. It would be for sure, but I just don’t think in a mobile version of Destiny it would be at the right level of awesome.
I (ideally) would want it like Armoured Core 🤣.
My hope is that the game eventually introduces Darkness abilities, and that the Winnower/Witness has a race of "Dark Guardians" like those concept art images showed. And the Dread alongside them. I'd like to see DR explore more of the gray morality eventually
That would be interesting
I feel like this has got to be coming down the line given stasis's presence in Expanse/Singularity with Freeze Tag. Could be wrong
Thank you
Same, but I don’t want to get my hopes up.
Be careful that they are saying that you won a giveaway and it is a scam
