Well, you said "In this timeline", but we need to remember that it's not even just that the timeline is different, it's also in a completely different era. If Misraaks and Eremis have been born, they aren't doing important paracausal stuff

I mean if it played out normally but Misraaks died to the Gaurdian on Titan than Eramis is just out there, she does get called to the darkness till after forsaken which would still happen, then during the Zero Hour mission to get Outbreak Perfected, Misraaks wouldn't be there to help us.. in fact it's because of him that we know about it so Eramis in this timeline she may actually walk away with the most powerful siva weapon at the time and then bring that to Europa using Siva and Pyramid tech together. But that's only if no one else knows about her trying to get Outbreak in the first place

Again, back to the point I'm trying to make: We haven't been risen yet. It will be a good, long couple of decades before we do. If I'm thinking about this correctly, we're closer to the intial SIVA outbreak than we are Rise of Iron, even.

We couldn't possibly know, because we're nowhere near the point in the timeline that would make either Misraaks or Eramis relevant

Everyone brought up some really good points... I think we can clearly distinguish between different timelines and eras and a whole other alternate universe in a way.
The dark future was a completely different timeline story but somehow Rising seems like it has to go to extremes to not clash with the main story in any way right?

Yes and no, there isn't really a timeliness of his adventures but I'd think he left Sol after the last city was build. That way galactic travel would be possible. Also drifter used to have a bar below felwinters peak in the dark ages.

There's a timeline on Ishtar Collective's website tho, with links and all, but it's also pretty vague (and mostly based of Ecdysis, from what I can tell)

Yea no. Exo’s were a produce to fuel Clovis’s ego and god complex. A platform for him to ascend and become immortal. The only war where Exo’s were used was that Exo-Vex war on Europa, where the portal opened and a vex invasion came pouring in. Clovis summoned all the Exo’s of the Deep Stone Crypt to defend his research (not the people cuz he’s a dick).

This was where Banshee got those 44 reboots and also where he got the weapon Lost Lament

And maybe where Elsie got her rifle (idk about that one)

I thought the long forgotten struggle might have been one against the vex on a different timeline, discovered during the experiments conducted by those scientists on the vex mind where they found all the different simulations? since we know what happens to guardians that interact with the vex milk

Of course, time would tell that the exos were built as both a way to circumvent death, and to create what would essentially be a PMC sleeper-cell group for Clovis. As much as some may be miffed about a retcon here and there, I think it was just as brilliant of an expansion on lore as the Awoken.

Yeah, he did have a total mind wipe. However, the degredation of his mental state comes from how long he has lived without a reset.

Clarity control is brilliant, as a way to explain how an exomind functions like a brain in destiny's world. You cannot simply hook up a conscious to 5 simultaneous senses -- plus a nervous system! -- and expect it to run just fine. You need to be picky about what information gets in, and what information isn't processed by the brain. We do this all the time! So, that hint of darkness in the exomind's radiolaria allows for some of those memories and senses to go away, and let the mind focus on only certain things, like a human can.

Of course, that's under the assumption that the exomind gets consistent resets. Give an exo millennia to experience new things, and things get screwy.

The full lore is: ||A lone Legionary clad in blue followed a sound, a cry that lilted across the barrenness of the Tangled Shore. The sound became louder and more desperate. Almost childlike.

He discovered a lone hatchling, wailing a song of abandonment deep within a crater. Carefully, the Legionary lowered himself into the fissure. He comforted the hatchling who quickly clung to him amid the Dark Ether that swirled around.

A war cry erupted from above as a cluster of Revenant Scorn descended. The Legionary quickly dispatched one and shoved a grenade in its grotesque mouth before lobbing it back up toward its brethren. As it exploded, bits and pieces of the entire pack rained down around the Legionary and the hatchling, who cowered behind him.

The last remaining Scorn attacked from behind, pinning the Legionary to the ground, sending his weapon flying. The putrid monster lashed out but stopped suddenly, howling in pain. The Legionary turned to see the chubby hatchling latched onto the Scorn's leg, teeth lodged deep in its flesh. Without hesitation, he lunged for his sidearm and placed a bullet neatly in the Scorn's head.

He lovingly scooped up the unharmed hatchling, wiped the ooze and drool from its mouth, and bellowed with laughter.

It’s great to get some background of the whole world side of Destiny. Like we see a shooting game for the most part in D1/2 but getting some insight into how people live/lived their lives in this universe is great.

Idk, maybe it’s just me but the idea of a whole culture to discover is fascinating. The lore books and item descriptions are great in D2 but it’s nothing like getting to experience something first hand.

Here’s what I know:

Ether functions as growth hormone to the Eliksni, calling the design of their endocrine system into question.

Ether is required to be taken constantly throughout an Eliksni’s life as without it Eliksni feel “hollow”

Ether was plentiful on the Eliksni homeworld of Riis, where it “ran like rivers”. Day/Night Cycle is described as Pink/Gray, calling into question the color of Riis’ seas or the Eliksni visible color spectrum (did the sky really go from pink to gray or did they just perceive it as such?).

Eliksni have a different sense of beauty than humans, placing a priority of more rather than less (eight eyes are considered handsome, six arms are considered strong) and Eliksni put a premium on these traits, with those that hold them getting preferential treatment, even at Drekh status (according to this, Taniks is quite handsome by Eliksni standards, assuming his helmet/head is accurate).

Eliksni same-sex couples existed on Riis (assuming they even operate on even the same rules of gender identity and sexual orientation as we do) and could have hatchlings. Whether this was through adoption or some sort of parthenogenesis or some other method is unknown.

We don't know the scope of "alternate" as of yet. It's very possible it is a completely different universe.

In a different game with a similarly licensed IP, NE was given enough creative freedom to create their own race and lore around that race for the game. Unfortunately, this race ended up being under utilized and they had a hard time implementing it in an engaging way.

Alternate universes are alternate timelines in Destiny. As to wether or not Destiny Rising is canon? Canon is just the subjective lens we use to view a work. In regards to Destiny Destiny Rising is just a different telling of the same events that happened in Destiny. I would say it's canon to the franchise and I don't see enough yet to suggest it isn't. Everything shown thus far fits very much in line with what Destiny does with alternate timelines. So this world would just be an alternate one from the game/franchise and the world functions and showcases virtually similar with some differences.

Mods can say many many things and mean different things with what they say. If by not canon they mean "not canon to the events of Destiny 2". It's not wrong to say. However it is part of the greater canon to the Destiny Franchise or it's world/cosmology. So if by non canon he meant in totality including this, then no I'd disagree.

In one sense it isn't canon as the events that happen are different to what the lore says within the current destiny universe. There will be references that will appear similar but looking at the trailer and that there is already an elliksni vendor present at the 'last city'. This is more due to that the already established events have happened at the time of the last city being built.

Where as in another sense it will appear as canon, because of it having the similar characters involved... from point of view, its just a different universe at the point of the creation of the last city, abit like how MCU have alternative timeline/universe, but all the actions/directions are very similar.

Yeah it's like MCU and Marvel comics. Both are part of the greater marvel franchise/multiverse/cosmology so they're canonical under the umbrella of Marvel. But the MCU and like Earth 616 are separate universes/timelines to each other. So the events that take place in one world aren't canon to the other. But they are canon under the umbrella that is Marvel. With the MCU being referred to as Earth-1999999.

I must concur. Echoes was quite lovely story-wise. We got heavy involvement from Osiris and Saint, finally got Failsafe out of the Exodus Black (temporarily at the very least, perhaps permanently), and finally the only problem the Vex had as a faction (story-wise) was fixed by Maya’s meddling.
