yup, and the first "official" Eliksni ally we had was Mithrax
hold the phone, this means they could be playable
Well they gota follow some rules locked skill set or no for example you can’t have a hunter pop a shield in a fight
One could argue Variks, but then the whole prison of elders debacle
I can't send the image sadly
house of wolves were loyal to the awoken as well for quite a long time before Skolas broke out
It was a npc sadly, they had some kind of quest icon or something
tell that to Ikora. >.<
but, we have a hero system, where each character is a lore character. Nothing is stopping an Eliksni from being one if theyre allies in this timeline
They'd be dumb not to add Eliksni as heroes, and new timeline means they can make them Guardians, since im guessing the only heroes will be ones who have ghosts
its not like destiny proper where that would cause issues with armor and story
I mean has a hunter pop a barricade before
True, but if New Monarchy holds the same 'values' as they did in mainline...the modern group did side with FWC during splicer.
i mean theres a vendor captian that looks very gaurdian-ey in the vidoc
Felwinter did a some kind of shoulder charge to a warlord so...
its probably different if there are already ties with allied eliksni. the factions didnt hate them out of some racial superiority, they hated them because of history
Theres all sorts of abilities that guardians could do, Solar Warlocks used to beable to self revive in any activity
youve gotta remeber this is pre tower, even if its a diff timeline theres no real hunter/warlock/titan its just kinda do whatever you want
Back in Destiny 1
Yes i know i played d1 but there are still boundaries that separate each class
Imagine they do something like Ablion Online, where you can switch classes by changing your armor!
classes are social constructs in canon. Any hunter can cast a barricade, technically, they just dont because its not their style. Someone who identifies as a hunter is generally more fast moving and fluid.
Na na na, that's not what I'm saying.
In forsaken it's explained that the Light abilities that current guardians are known for is because they are kind of chosen to represent a faction that was established during the dark ages and given the knowledge for by their ghosts. Like military units, specialists if you will.
OG lighbearers wouldnb't hae any such restrictions because their ghosts wouldn't give them "pre installed software" if you will. They'd be developing on instinct and skill.
True, there could have been some none feral ketches that traded instead of raided
that would be cool, i still doubt its gonna be class based. like i said its pre tower organization. and since its a chinese dev'ed F2P netease game, when you have classes you limit yourself, no classes you can promote cooler looking gatcha baners
Alright Gotcha
plus twilight gap probably hasnt happened.
dont worry about what happens in our timeline, its stated to be a diff timeline all together, what are the odds that 1/2 of our stuff happens there? what if we get darkness right away? etc
well, regardless its just too early for twilight gap.
Anything else is up to them, they have free reign to go in whatever direction they want
Is true is true.
But Like with Simulation saint-14 still being Saint-14 but with slightly different versions of the same events. Or Maya looking for "Her" Chioma but finding them to be all spiritually the same if from different events and discarding even the one that was her original because it didn't fit what she wanted.... it'll be interesting to see what they keep and what they introduce to the universe over all.
Kinda like, if the Traveler doesn't show up then there's no Destiny timline. mainline or otherwise. >.<
thats fair, but i think the difference here is thats them intentionally looking into timelines that are identical (or near) to their own, this is appearing to look like at least, a much larger departure.
its like a theory i saw about the MCU, the further you get away from the mainline 616, the more "departures" you get from it (why different spidermen look so different), and i could guess the further you get from the "main" destiny timeline, the more varitations there may be
I have a whole bunch of... weird headcanons about the canon timeline and the dark timelines and whatnot but it does basically boil down to that
They can get crazy with it. Destiny has a whole paraverse
I know I said this, but what if we accidentally created this timeline by being in the corridors of time
and with crossover items they also confirm things inspired by a distant universe
That's fair.
that's very fair.
But even in the MCU there's still "Cannon Events" so to speak that define a character and they will be using some main universe characters and events.
It's just fun to theorize and talk to other Lore nerds about what is and isn't going on in the main universe and how it could shape what happens in this games.
Im still someone who wants the Dark timeline to be turned into a mini series, id watch the hell out of it
u cant save targe zavala its a canon event
A branch of the Temporal war that is beyond our Guardians if you will?
Basically ye
🤔I wonder what kind of villains we will face
What if there is no big bad and it's all Game of Thronsey?
i think the biggest like "tie in" to the main continutiy (that i think would be sick) is seeing the exo stranger lol
I’m honestly hoping for that. Just random high ranked enemies
Instead of something like “ohhh Crota decided to invade Earth early”
we find nezarec’s ship early?
He could be alive in this timeline
I mean, it is the Dark ages with Warlords, Ironlords, and rogue lightbearers just trying to carve out their own piece of the pie amongst the back drop of alien invasions and humanity kind of caught in the maelstrom.
possibly
Could be a good antagonist too since he lead the collapse
Would be cool, it’ll probably be a lot of building up over time if they’re gonna get to a place of eliksni and cabal being friendly in some capacity again
Do others even like that? Idk, I like it, but some people might prefer enemies staying bad lol
Hey. Hey. Hey.
Moons not haunted.
YET
i would love to see pyramid ships early
Make Rhulk have more screen time😍
Could definitely see that with the Eliksni since they have such splintered tribes and such.
Imagine if we got warrior vex in this timeline before the main one
Yo....we still don't know who's ship that is chillin on Europa. And... the whispers were guiding Clovis in the Golden age. Definetly not out of the qustion for a ship to show up.
rhulk invading right after nezzy would be sick
one thing that i find interesting is they’re visiting realms of the IX and the vexnet quite early
pretty sure the IX didn’t do stuff until destiny 2
apart from xur of course
Technically we already have with the wyvern, but it would be cool to see fully warrior units
Was the red war the first time they intervened?
Well one of them messed with the satellites during red war right?
that i don’t know
They technically did as they turned off the towers security system with the satellites
True and Untrue.
The Infinite Forest, Vault of Glass, Pyramidon, glass way. All part of the Vex net. Mithrax just showed us how to hack it.
Also, the IX been creepin for a hot minute.
They also made a deal with the Drifter....thats' why Gambit.
And the big ice ball realm thing on the back of his ship
i mean the vexnet and ix definitely existed prior to the dark age n whatnot, i just find it interesting that they’re using that as the backdrop for that when we’re mostly stuck to earth according to datto
it would be interesting if elsie was playable and had stasis abilities
I’m actually kinda glad it’s mostly on Earth if that’s the case.
Yeah, but it goes back to the Vex just showing up but always being there like on Neomuna. The Veix didn't attack Neoumuna until the veil dropped exposing their location, but then the citizens and cloud striders can't remember a time before the vex shows up.
Bungie would make a bungillion dollars if they made Elsie a character, it would be a cool implication if this was another failed timelines she was in
Like how the Minotaurs teleport is them physically changing history to put themselves in a different location.
Actually something I never thought about. We could have lightbearer human antagonists
Dark Ana maybe
So I mean this timeline could be one where the Vex have forced themselves further into earths past
War lords
You...you mean Warlords.
Yes. Good timing lol
Hmm maybe more Shaxx story
YAS!!
Cause he wasn't a bad guy, he just thought the Iron Lords were chumps
And the War Lords weren't organized into any group. They were just littel dymios of what ever corner they carved out for themselves. So different War Lords could be a help, a hinderene, or a playable character.
the more I think about the possibilites the more stoked i get.
careful now, this is still a mobile game
I know.
But cautiously optimisitic
Can't wait for people to start putting pictures of Rising's versions of characters in the actual Destiny wikis
My name isn't byf
No it was house of wolves I think
It was Wolves with Skolas being released by the Nine
Yup
that wasn't intervention, Mara sent Skolas to them
As a gift
And they released him "for reasons unknown"
ah right
I just realized we might get playable Felwinter
Can't wait to pull for SSR Felwinter
I wonder what 4 peice set i should use on my felwinter
why is everyone saying it is a gacha when it isnt
i have no clue, im guessing just speculating how we are gonna acquire the playable characters
There are 6 of them no? Highly doubt they will be what they focus the MTX on
And its funny
only 6 so far, its still pre-alpha
Now should i focuse crit dmg or crit rate on the scyth warlock
haha, so funny
leaks said gacha
people thought leaks said gacha
yeah they took the word genshin and ran with it
i don’t play genshin, i thought it was a gacha
It is.
oh
So, specifically, it might be a gacha game. I think that would make sense, given it's insistence on Character-based abilities, rather than Class-based.
Anyways, as for actual lore discussions, where's my SIVA folks? Anyone?
Can't see it being that type of game. I foresee Warframe. TFD style
please have not horrible microtransactions that’s all i ask
That's optimisic
that’s not true actually my only ask is that it has slight continuity
i.e. the kabr we see in rising is how the mainline kabr would have also been
Also very optimisic
if that makes sense
they havent said anything on how we get anything
make goth woman canon
Ikora Beach outfit Banner when?
make me canon bungie
Yeah, it does! That being said, it'd be a bit bizarre to play the the Kabr, and the Praedyth. Ooh, perhaps some Saint-14 in there?
yeah but i’m still excited :3
they did say we are gonna see some familiar faces, im excited on who
maybe a cayde-2
Maybe they'll make use of Efrideet more, not as a player character but something
judging by the dev insight she’s an awoken hunter(?)
Well since this is a different timeline we might see characters who wernt lightbearers as lightbearers in this one
its before the classes
Father of John Destiny, Old Wolf
cant call em hunters, warlocks or titans bc its not who they are
ik it’s before the classes but assuming that hunter is someone we know them looking like a hunter narrows it down
Devrim with no land beyond when
sorry the awoken oopsies :3
actually something just occurred to me. In the dev preview there was a whiteboard that said "Radegast > Iron Lords > Wolf", which would lead me to believe the character is called Wolf
and naturally, is an Iron Wolf lol. Or its just saying the Iron Wolves came from the Iron Lords, but it just being "Wolf" makes me think its the character's name
The custom character is called Wolf
Yep, Wolf seems to be the name of the character, as opposed to the Young Wolf title
The iron Wolves were the second gen of Lords
same whiteboard also has what I assume to be locations in the game and the enemies we encounter in them
seeing an Eliksni quest giver makes me wonder if we'll get the Reef as a destination
RSR with Cabal and Vex. JSM with Fallen and Hive. Whatever those stand for exactly
I would totally love if we got like, alternate iron lords
Because the iron lords that died/lived to siva did so on a coinflip basically, any could’ve lived or died from that fight
Hope they bring back spire of stars
Ideally i'd like it to be before the Iron Lords got killed off.
yesss
They could do the funniest of things and make siva a gaint topic in the games.
it’s likely SIVA wouldn’t have been created/discovered yet
felwinter is probably still alive
I know that the lore and story will probably not match with the one on the main game but seen IX architecture in the trailer seems off to me of the time setting that they putting the mobile game on
Yet we see a fallen vendor
i mean the nine don’t really operate in the sense of time
the eliksni don’t really have anything to do with SIVA currently - splicers haven’t been a threat since before the red war
Kabr is alive, All the Iron lords are Warlords know. Shaxx will be one of the gotcha characters I am sure.
also seen a Fallen vendor in the main hub is kinda odd
maybe it’s this universes young wolf?
Apologies, I meant in the trailer. We see a fallen vendor. And I believe this is taking place with the iron lords right?
not necessarily with the iron lords, but that would be appx. the time period yeah
That's why I throw out the funny idea of having siva as a problem. People want it bungie won't give us it. So if they do it here. Then bungie had to acknowledge People really want siva.
this game isn’t developed by bungie at all
Still, the fallen wouldn't be a vendor, especially in the city.
it’d be netease noticing that people want siva back and then putting it in their game
what city? the city doesn’t exist at this point in time
I know but bungie still has some control over the game. Net ease had all rights to do thier own thing.
I know, Looks like a city, it's a city to me.
city or main hub is the same thing. It seems to be called Haven
as in safe haven lol
That's funny
If the game is in fact set before d1 then 80% of the lore has been scrapped or rearranged.
it's possible, maybe even likely based on the website's description of Wolf. But I like to think it is a separate character, especially given the time placement and the added emphasis on the Iron Lords. Perhaps they're meant to represent the first Iron Wolf
you must have missed "alternate destiny timeline" on the front page
Enter an era of heroes and legends, where familiar Destiny faces meet intriguing new characters, each with a rich story, unique personality, and formidable skills. Experience top-tier sci-fi shooting action in FPP or TPP as you embark on a new adventure in an alternate Destiny timeline.
I dids
One of the most iconic aspects of Destiny is its Player vs Environment experiences, and Destiny: Rising is no exception. You'll find classic elements such as Campaign missions, Destination free roam exploration, Haven Ops Strike missions, and the raid-like Gauntlet Ops. Additionally, we've introduced exciting new modes like Morgran's Prey, Legacy, Realms of the IX, and many more. I won't spoil the fun—I'll let you discover these for yourself in our upcoming Closed Alpha.
interesting, so I see where the Nine stuff shown off in the trailer probably fits in
it's cool seeing all these different types of abilities almost sort of look like the precursors to the 3 classes
Almost like it's bc they're the precursors to the 3 classes 🙃
I mean, yeah. But even then we see stuff that, at least as far as consistency is concerned, never really makes it to the final class disciplines but is like experimenting. Like something that looks like blade dancer but is instead solar based
and with a little thought to it, one could assert that this ability naturally evolves into stuff like bladedancer and blade barrage even if nothing explicitely says this
ooh i like that idea
hiii i would like to discuss the lore of saint 14 in the game pls pls pls playable saint 14 pls pls pls pls
I'm just hoping we get playable Elsie Bray somehow so we can see that custom model exo in action 🥵
🤨
Jk I prefer Eris
ok good good
Supposibly we have fallen friends
I must have Lord Shaxx as a playable character
do you think factions will be available for us to be part if?🤔
The city isn't built yet so no
but that doesn't stop factions from being a thing
like entirely new factions, not the old 3, or it could be the old 3 but in their very early days
"Realms of the IX"
intriguing.
if only this game was canon to the destiny timeline, then we'd have so much clarity as to what the IX are.
The IX probably won’t change as they are a key factor to the timelines
Yes they may be sentient dark matter but they also can decide certain fates ie. Red War
concordat might be viable
I shall make a new faction, in the tradition of factions yet to come: Radiolaria Huffers.
My peoples
The lore peeps
What is it that we wish to discuss
Ahhhhh where’s Byf
I'm guessing the nine based off of prior conversation.
IX or Clovis Bray lore?
Well with it being a different universe I mostly wanna know if we will see characters we know like cayde or will it be a whole new cast of peoples
Gone. Reduced to atoms
Pain
Ya, been wondering how much the game's lore will diverge from main-line Destiny's timeline.
Maybe it will be the dark timeline
the nine are so visually compelling and interesting that its a shame they're not really explored all that much in d2
That would be a cool idea
Seems like humanity was a bit more advanced during the golden age given the space elevator
Nine themed aesthetic was always my favorite
I've been speculating on who the other playable characters might be and think that the warlock women could possibly be Satomi, a thanatonaut researching void responsible for the creation of mask of the quiet one. Hard to say though considering we don't know when she was risen and if they will include other main-line characters.
Just considering off of the aesthetic and descriptions shown, doesn't seem like a dark future esc timeline.
I think Jolder was in the trailer
Yes, Jolder was confirmed
Neat
website confirms Jolder, Kabr, and ofc Ikora
Press release confirmed Jolder, Kabr, and Ikora
KABR
YO WHAT
We might get more Rasputin content too cause he would be around. Maybe felwiner
Maybe Pahanin from the VOG team
I get to meet kabr, damn I need this game
Kabr is the WANA esc themed Titan. Possibly hailing from the Red Sea Rift or the Saharan Contested Zone. \
I must see Lord Shaxx in this game or I shall riot
Oh wait, are pictures not allowed on the server ;-;
Very sad
F
Nah nah, Saladin
I want them to create VCs for the server
I need a young Saladin
This game take place in a different timeline?
This also takes place before the great hunt so maybe we get to see the Ahamkara
Wait do you think since jolder is alive maybe instead of Saladin being the only survivor of the iron lords massacre it was jolder
Just for him to step on a tripmine 🤣
Bazinga
Possible
Younger Shaxx, Felwinter, Perhaps Vel Tarlowe
SIVA outbreak probably hasn't happened for another good few decades at this point though.
We could see early Felwinter though which could help expand on her civilization.
Not felwinter
I thought felwinter was a dude
Like the pacifist colony?
That would be cool
We could see Felwinter and Felspring though lol. We do see Warmind architecture at some point in the videos reminiscent of D1
We must see Drifter’s bar
If this takes place before the death of the iron lords does that mean it’s around the time or before the battle of six fronts
Ya, we have no idea when she first discovered it, but it could be an interesting parrallel lore point.
My man is probably still stuck on the ice planet given the timeline
Possibly out of system
Oh, this isn't related to D2 Rising, but the Shayura story got updated again with Icebreaker and talks about them possibly returning to Old Chicago!
Well he was around when Felwinter was alive and before the first Siva outbreak
Could be a cool location to see.
Practically still in the dark ages lmao
Yeah I just thought he left the system almost immediately after being rezzed
I believe that was his plan
Game might take place after he was rezzed but before he came back to sol
No he wandered for a bit and kept starving to death then probably left
Ah, got it
What's interesting is that we haven't seen any cabal in promotional material outside of seeing them mentioned as being part of the Jiangshi region
Also correct me if I'm wrong, but Jianshi are eastern like zombies made from alchemy esc stuff, right?
They weren't really all that big of a force in the collapse aside from the scout fleets sent out to mars I think
Hi another question the device will said snapdragon 846 newer may phone is realme c53 is allowed?
I hope we see representation like we do in Destiny. Because if not then it won’t feel like a Destiny game
I know that’s an unpopular take probably but it’s still true
That and Micah-10, Saint-14/Osiris, Mara Sov and Sjur Eido etc. type stuff
Would be weird if saint and Osiris were just roommates in this lol
I would literally breakdown
I think there will be some, just given the property its based on, but I don't imagine it'll go heavy into it
Destiny gives some people hope that they will feel seen and heard
Oh I bet we'll see that. We already see Kabr who is likely from WANA, The Red Sea Rift, European influence. An eastern women, European characters, possibly latin american characters all in promotional material in dev insight video
Gotta bear in mind this isn't by bungie or like, Destiny proper. it's a spin off
I know but if it doesn’t have the Minority rep then it won’t feel like Destiny
It would get really tiring if every character was the same like personality
I mean, ikora is front and center in the marketing lol. I think it'll be fine
Idk why people keep saying it's an alternate timeline when they already said it's an alternate universe (all the thumbnails on YouTube and such)
equating personality to someone's ethnicity or nationality is kinda icky
That doesn’t define destiny
Not what I meant
k
Destiny is just fine with or without those social norms
Exactly, not sure about LBTQA+ stuff as I;m not sure on Neteases position with that stuff, but the D2 universe literally follows Humanity after they become an universally egalitarian society united in their desire for science and arts,
And exploration
Not even considereing species interactions between Awoken, Exo, and Humans
oh, links get clapped here
well everywhere, but most notably the site, it's referred to as an alternate timeline
Still if every character is able bodied and straight it may get a bit repetitive in some ways
oh boy
what does this statement mean???
Not sure you'll see many disability representation considerting the nature of light bearers
I’m talking somethings can be over done or used I mean you can only write relationships that don’t seem repetitive if they are diverse
can it be an alt universe where we didnt get mauled by the darkness so bad
It’s basic literature
Every book/story is different
@lone star guardiansdont have disabilities, they're literally reforged in light to be the peak of humanity
yeah but that's like, one comment from the bungie employee but every other instance I've seen of marketing refers to it as an alternate timeline
which it doesn't really matter much anyway bc they're effectively the same thing in this case. a way of saying "not set in the same thing as baseline destiny"
I feel like it only feels repetitive if you seek those out. A good story and cast is more than what they like
Some do and I’m also talking HUMAN NPCs
@next quest the thing that gets me tho is if it is a different universe then it has completely different timelines
funny you mention this, humans used to have a blinded eye option in the character creator. but that's since been changed
and as a result, I changed my hunter to an exo
read Whether Windmills or Cranes
i think you are perhaps getting hung up on the minor non shooting aspects of this shooting game a bit too much
Im just saying Destiny is one of the few games to have Rep in lore and on screen
That actually has a damn effect on things
I just need to know that Calus canonically writes fan fiction about us in this universe too
i really dont think that needs to be a focus
Not really. A lot of games have it now ever since it became a trend/social norm
oh, speaking of one of the Destiny Rising characters is blind in one of their eyes
I think the closest thing a Lightbearer can have that can be described as a disability is cybernetic augmentations that are deemed to enhance them past their organic body such as Ana having Exo eyes and being resurrected with them.
loki a freak
Oh, true
Fr he didnt need to be doing all that
The older titan women
it's a take on kabyr i think
also yea this too, it's quite in vogue
or rather, they wear an eye patch and I assume they're blind
I didn’t say it did I only said that it’s shown and talked about I’m tired of people being like oh it should be seen not heard
That was all people said about Episode Echoes
I believe Kabr is the male Titan with the shield to her left.
you said if it wasnt then it wouldnt "feel like destiny"
The only issue with Echoes was that it was a story entirely about relationships rather than what was interesting in the choral Vex ;-;
Bungie were literally just making characters interact that had an effect on the story
The lore also had that too
I like Saint + Osiris & Maya + Chioma, but I wanted a focal story that discussed major changes to the universe.
huh that's kinda odd cuz i thought that he became the vog shield. him also being like a shield main seems kinda uhhhh... serendipitous
Good think Fikrul came to throw hands immediately and do nothing else in this episode
Absolute g move tbh
@lone star are you referring to him having gone insane? If so then yea a lot of guardians lost their minds, I meant as in physical problems
I think that, at its core, Echoes is an interesting juxtaposition. However, I wish that it wasn't at the expense of fun Vex Lore. Maybe more of a focus on timelines?
Ya, but wasn't really in-game, which is what matters most when discussing such major changes, else we go back to D1 grimoire revelations. Choral Vex were an active part of gameplay, it sucked to not see them discussed more in the actual seasonal content. Still enjoyed Echoes for what it was though.
Bad application of story, great concept.
brain is a physical organ
I mean Maya was extremely close to spreading her influence across the whole network
I've said it before, but Episode Echoes just feels like I'm reading Homestuck^2.
Many lightbearers went insane after being rezzed. IE a lot of thanatonauts
Almost to the Axis minds
frustrates me that there's still the problem of things that should be experienced in game are experienced off camera
We
i am more concerned about characters and the plots theyre involved with being well written than their appearance or minor details about them
Echoes didn't convince me the Maya was wrong. Why didn't we let he just do a second golden age?
Like yeah the infinite wife thing was bad
they're working on that
@lone star .......several guardians became corrupted from hive and Vex or simply fought for so long they went insane from it. I'm talking about freshly risen. A ghost can fix a broken body, it's never been able to fix a broken mind
We've known Maya has been an integral part of the Vex Network since literally back when Clovis had to deal with her clones prior to the collapse. Maya was a pushover in every way in game.
they been working on that
I’m saying taking control of them
It’s literally said right on screen in dialogue
For years now, and they have gotten better, Echoes just felt like a bit of a step back.
well not always, theres some lore about 2 guardians in gambit who have injuries that will never heal
They swapped focus it happens
asher mir
oh yeah they've def been doing better I won't lie. Though I can't help but feel that some of the story beats that happen in the background very obviously should have been in the forefront.
Or in the case of stuff like echoes, the story is happening around us and we're not really a part of it
Changing story focus can be good and bad but it depends how you do it
@lone star and gambit plays around with the darkness and Taken. Can I get the lore tab for this one?
Maya's cringe, not because she wants her wife back, but because she wants the idea of her wife back. All the golden age stuff is incidental.
I wish i could find it
@lone star didn't Asher lose he's ghost?
she caught feelings
he was just scared that if he was rezzed, it'd be as a vex and not awoken
Yes, I know they swapped focus, it just didn't make sense why considering they spent Act1/2 building up Maya's influence on the vex, and then Act 3 was encore and her interpersonal relations with Chioma taking a frontseat over the vex implications.
My main issue with Echoes was literally just how pathetic the in-game use of Maya was outside of the amazing dialogue we got in Encore.
Never have I seen a more cool villian be beaten by the power of plot armor and 1 nova bomb
yea i didnt like echoes plot at all
I also think the themes about chasing a non-existent ideal were a bit malformed
@lone star if I'm not mistaken did he not like integrate a vex arm on himself? Or messed around with Vex milk (all of which corrupts a guardian)
He was corrupted by radiolaria and is now a harpy
They tried to do something different and messed up but I’ve seen and heard a lot of hate on the effort that went into Echoes
The Echo of Command was set up to be an immensely powerful object, yet despite the fact that Saint is an Exo literally meaning vex relationship on account of Alkahest, he just used plot armor to break free.
it's not very clear
His memories from his other self you mean that’s not plot armor it’s clever writing
Not trying to disparage Bungie's attempt at a different story, I just think that the application of it was horrendous even for other game's standards when the concept was actually fantastic.
I fully look forward to Bungie trying to explore new story models that apply to the larger universe.
At least with Fikrul, we can go and see the interplay between "Fikrul wants his papa :(" and "Crow needs to take responsibility for his child". Maya is introduced and merked, just like that.
@stoic sphinx yea I'm just listing off things that guardians are not immune to. Me and David have been discussing this and my prior thing was guardians don't have disabilities when they are made into guardians, that those issues are mostly from an adled mind from time or darkness corruption
Act 2 is just getting crow to pay child support
following after Final Shape's story telling didn't help Echoes
Oh, my bad dude
@stoic sphinx it's all good just wanted to explain
Just wanted to lore dump lol
No, I understand the psychological aspect of it, but when you are literally a machine running on radiolaria facing a being capable of commanding it on a molecular level, it doesn't make sense to have a psychological revelation give you immunity to an Echo. A artifact of insanely immense power that allowed Maya to literally split a cohert of the Vex off of the hive-mind at her command.
I just think Maya was developed to be way too much of a pushover
You could argue that this is his chance to surpass the previous hunter vanguards, simply by having the balls to handle the consequences of his actions whole-heartedly.
Cayde's the goat, but he was always running from something.
The Echo of command focuses on Willpower much like Oryx’s Taking
I think guardians can become disabled to an extent after they are rezzed. Ikora shotgunned Shaxx so hard he has a limp now
That doesn't heal
@stoic sphinx a guardian did that, we can kill each other so that makes sense
And Saint was manipulated because his will faltered
@stoic sphinx tho ofc we as the main character literally eat nukes like nothing 😂
BRAYTECH? D2ArmorPicker? D2Checkpoint? lightgg? raid report?
Yes, it is literally called the Echo of Command ;-;
I'm trying to argue that when Maya has an artifact of both light and dark capable of altering even the Vex, beings resistant to paracausality. Then failing to use it to a meaningful degree on an entity that is literally the combination of all 3 forces who is psychologically dented and exposed to possible Vex corruption for an infinite amount of time, then it really just sets Maya up to be incapable of anything meaningful outside of commanding basic Vex.
So this takes place centuries before the last city?
Truly a Young Wolf moment. There's a reason we’re the newest iron lords
After she made him question his legitimacy he was broken. But his new memories he got from his other self fueled his will/first
yes?
I just don't like how Maya was ended so quickly and how weak it was set, especially considering how strong we see Fikrul already at Act 1 when he first gets his Echo
Because she Underestimated The Guardians
Did Maya actually die? Like she seemed mostly fine
makes her lack impact as an antagonist
Hubris is a hindrance to many a villain Maya included
Also, do we think that Fikrul is controlling an Echo developed from the Ammonites and their Song of Life?
I think that Echoes would be improved if we saw more about Chioma earlier on in the season. And, as much as I love the little guy, we could probably cut Captain Jacobson to focus more on the main conflict.
@stoic sphinx true but we have beaten practically every big baddie that's trashed every other guardian so I think we are senior Wolves at this point
I haven't seen the ending of Echoes - mainly because I can't be bothered to go through that mission multiple times, but watching that entire research log Maya left I kept thinking, "What do you think the 'real' Chioma is going to do once she learns what you did to all of her alternates?"
H O W. You set up a character who has known about our strength since early in D2 (insight terminus) and saw us just kill a figurehead of the darkness. H O W does one of the genuises of Humanity's greatest scientific and philosophical era stoop to that low level of thought.
NO
Not Captain Jacobson ;-;
You sick monster!!
Considering the echoes are memories of the witness that would mean that the witness was there during the hives fight with the Ammonites, which would be a really cool lore drop
Agreed lol
Hubris blinds
bad writing
Okay, maybe not the main frog himself. But we could at least dedicate some of our NES-series missions to vex time shenanigans?
Yes, but not to the extent of making a character incapable of basic reasoning to confront 2 sigma 5 classification guardians and a guardian who just slew the witness WITH 2 GOBLINS
However I’m not saying you’re wrong in this
Ok, we've come to an understanding then ❤️
I'm reminded of the Dark Tower where it's antagonists are set up to be fairly imposing, and then when it comes down to it you get watered down versions of how they were previously portrayed that are just kinda pathetic
We both can see Reason then
I did enjoy this discussion though
I think we also have to remember that Maya has quite literally been insane for several hundred years
My main reasoning for this is that Fikruls abilities we see have a lot of the aesthetics of light powers when he uses then. Need to look more into it though.
@stoic sphinx I guess the biggest question now is......who could possibly fill the Witnesses shoes? Like we as Guardians can't possibly achieve an even higher level of power than what we achieved within the traveler right?
I think you're on to something! Either that or some memory of Nokris cause he does something somewhat similar
Taniks 7
@coarse kestrel he's wielding what I assume to be a light and darkness infused relic
True, though Clovis was also insane and his counter measures were a bit extreme rather than blatanlty dismissive of any actual problem. When the DSC was exposed, he literally planned to destroy all of Europa w/ the nuclear descent of the morning star. Confronting 3 of the strongest guardians with 2 goblins is more than just insane.
@stoic sphinx o hell nah don't will that into existence
That's fair
Well yes, the Echoes are memories (darkness) given material form (light). I just think we see the light aesthetic more prominent, at least in that in-game mission at the start from what I remember.
She would have needed at least 3 goblins
Could be wrong though
Exactly! I like your thoughts ❤️
@coarse kestrel I suppose it's whatever the welder wishes to tap into
Oh, possible.
Do we know what the name of FIkrul
Fikrul's echo is at this point?
@coarse kestrel tho I will also assume the power they tap into will fit along with their thoughts and wishes as well
I think the reason why we didn't just mega-nuke Maya is because we were hyper-extended into enemy territory ... with a non-lightbearer? C'mon, Osiris, let's get your meds.
@limber rose at least he has darkness powers
Entirely forgot Osiris was there lmao. He has strand at the least though.
Can't wait for whatever echo was formed from the witness’s memories of seeing Calus in that weird bath
No offense to Osiris, but happy to see him taking a backseat for the first time in a while.
Echo of Opulence babyyy
Echo of L U S T
A little death stranding won't do much against gallons upon gallons of radiolaria
@next quest we growing fat with this one
Who wields that tho
Benedict Sweeper bot ofcourse
@stoic sphinx "The Helmet Stays on"
man, I think with all that disappointed me with Lightfall, Calus burned the most for me
Ahhh, I was thinking arcite
Agreed
Like, we realize that if Maya wanted to, she could probably collapse the whole area in radiolaria, right? Strange that she didn't, at least after we proved that we weren't gonna listen to another self righteous goofball
Especially after his set up in Duality and season of the haunted. Seeing him killed off that fast in such a manor just hurt.
That a and nimbus going for a firstbump after ending Caiatl’s dad
Also what was the radial mast???
Rohan should have been the one left standing
Reminder that 99% of the actions the Cabal did during LF was entirely useless. Why not just lure us to the veil off the bat and steal our ghost.
@stoic sphinx the entirety of Light Fall is just "huh?" And "what?"
It will forever be a stain on the lore.
Yeah easily the worst expansion lore wise
I can't remember the last time I've been to Neomuna, actually
Easily
@coarse kestrel unless they loop back around and hit us with some mean ass DLC to fix it
Lmao, I had to go just for the case of the tonic upgrade
if after Rohan's death Nimbus stopped acting like a goofy goober, I might have been more accepting of them
They did drop the canonical lore fact that Nezarec can get power from gamers™️
Even Neomuna is a waste of a location. Marketed as a prestine city yet half of it is more destroyed than all of the EDZ whilst every citizen retreated into the mcguffing cloud ark whilst not coming out at all.
They kind of did? The exotic mission was one of the very few bright spots of lightfall.
The one with Deterministc Chaos
The aesthetic is cool in some parts of it, but it just feels like a purple braytech theme
They also have super advanced nano tech that we never use again
@stoic sphinx "just use the code "Nezarec" for free gamer Supps!"
And orbital stations above Pluto
Right! First Siva is forgotten, and now Quicksilver
Fairly certain nimbus said this in game
SIVA makes sense at least considering we nuked the replication center!
big disappointed that all the characters were just turned into digital guys. Took a lot of the impact and sense of despair out of it for me
and they really really did not need to be cloud ark pixels. that didn't even really need to be a thing
Quicksilver? I hardly knew her!
@coarse kestrel outside of there maybe still is a splicer cell that somehow gets a hold of the only Siva weapon in existence
Quick silver is literally one of the most important innovations coming out of Neomuna, and it was just forgotten. Not even considering the systems insanely advanced hydroponics and energy sources!
I would have actually really preferred if they didn't go with the whole Miami Vice thing
Why are we not using those to improve the city, advance spacefaring, or shoot Randal with!\
Literally we could build a fallen ethnostate
We could solve all of humanities problems but we’d have to deal with the lightfall plot so its a tough choice
This game complicating rather then expanding d2 is so so so lame wish iit was an expansion rather then a new time line really disattachs me tbh
I see lore, I talk lore. What lore we taking about?
Ya, it's possible. Hard to say if that was the only replication center. It's possible that Astraea (Vesper AI) now that she has access to all of Clovis's files rebuilds a new chamber.
Lightfall
Unfortunately
I see
Maybe ethnostate is not the best choice of words, there. But seriously! Give the eliksni better digs!
And what about Lightfall we talking about?
Sad times. Rohan died for LFs lore sins.
@coarse kestrel yea that's about how it goes it's either stolen tech or someone rebuilt it
Just in general how useless the story was on both a technical standpoint and how it failed to evolve the world at all outside of the veil.
Ngl I forgot Rohan existed
The fact that a ton of the really cool tech is never mentioned again. Advance space stations and nanotech
Neomuna is a society that is hundreds of years technology wise ahead of the city, and yet we don't spend any time to implement their tech to the city.
Actually mind boggling
Also there's absolutely no reason for us not to get the cloudstider surgery considering we don't die of age
No reason to also have an entire civilization protected by 2 people either
Just one now lol
@stoic sphinx I think maybe it's a conflicting issue or perhaps a mental stress one but I'm not exactly balanced on those ideas either
The fact we got nothing on the Veil until like 2 seasons later is mind boggling
If you can even call Nimbus a singular being lol.
Genuinely think Nimbus could be a cool character and I do eventually want to see him again, but he is just a victim of the absolutely horrendous writing that went into LF
Kinetic element classes with siva, quicksilver, and some other third thing 🧠
Its kinda funny that we still don't really know what the traveler is
Bro is trying too hard to replace Cayde
Veil containment was pretty cool. But season of the deep had a larger lore significance than all of LF
@stoic sphinx "it's a big ball of gas"
Yeah hopefully he matured as a result of the last two years and gets a redemption
I got evangelion vibes from the veil and its facility
@next quest where's all the blood?
There’s a theory that he, along side Saint and Osiris, will be key characters in the upcoming arc
It was actually cool seeing him chilling with Saint, Colonel, and Caitl in the beginning of Act 1 of Echoes. That cutscene is still genuinely one of my favorite cinematics we've gotten yet1
Get in the radial mast Rohan, or nimbus will have to do it
Agreed
I like that new style of cutscenes. Gives me… new beginnings vibes
@stoic sphinx dies of cringe
I absolutely love the Golden Age, and seeing the Sol coalition pushing to bring themselves back to it is fantastic.
Fair lol
Oh, if you've read the Xurfboard lore, the vanguard is approving recon missions out of Sol again!
Yippee
@stoic sphinx like not even to be a dck but it is Nimbus
chat, which was worse for you, Lightfall or Curse of Osiris
osiris's track record for expansion content isn't a good one
Also like how the Vanguard also appears to be participating in vanguard ops instead of sitting behind a desk doing paperwork
Lightfall from a story perspective, COO from a content perspective
The new style if very noice. Beautiful lighting, transitions, and symbolism whilst also being visually orgasmic. The ITL cinematic was so good using the style. And the Chioma cinematic for Act 3 was so well done.
That’s a hard one. But tbh I’d give it to Curse of Osiris. At least Lightfall gave us a kewl new subclass
Art team killing it as always
@remote venture got guardian surfboarding before SRL
Except Zavala. Zavala is unfortunately coming to a close. He is addressing his own mortality and accepting that he is ageing. A great roundoff for such a fantastic character all these years.
Curse of Osiris mainly because the major content difference. The story was pretty useless and annoying to play too. Lightfall wasn’t much better though
Panoptes was maybe the coolest vex villain we've ever gotten and ill die on that hill
Keith David was def a good pick. Really emphasizes how war torn Zavala has become
yeah Lightfall has content so I say it was better all things considered.
I felt that CoO had a lot of wasted potential too. Mercury which imo was already the coolest planet got even cooler with the infinite forest and aall they could have done with that, but it was reduced to a glorified public event space that for ages you couldn't even use your sparrow in
Curse of Osiris still has some of my favorite strikes. Hard to compare that to LF when I despise the singular strike it gives.
Also, hard to talk about CoO without addressing that D2 was at a very different state. No subclass customization, static roles, double primaries, microtransaction heavy, and no build crafting. Lightfall had literally of that and failed to do anything meaningful outside of introduce Strand.
Even the weapons from Neomuna are reskins, despite promotional art literally showing unique models for destination weapons we never got.
Zavala is even more proof of how time, fighting and resisting temptations breaks a guardian down
My favorite strike is that one strike on Nessus where we ride that cabal land tank. Only because we get to ride a land tank
I also really didn't like that CoO's strikes were rehashed story missions at the time. made it feel that much more content dry
I wonder if Neomuna is gonna exist in Destiny Risings timeline
Yep, TFS did an amazing job at resolving the past conflicts we've seen with him developed ever since Beyond Light.
Isn't the game set in the dark ages
I bet you didn’t think you’d be repeating that in 2024
And as much as Davids will never hit the same to me, he did a great job. RIP Lance Reddick
It’s set post dark ages pre destiny 1
Yeah I think neomuna is there but incredibly well hidden
Neomuna still existed in the dark ages, which raises a lot of important ethical questions
Also Neomuna existed during the dark ages, they just didn’t fw the people of earth and left them to die
Well thats true but didn't we discover it in LF
Neomuna existed since the collapse
It's likely Neptune has known about Humanity for a while considering their initial reaction to us, so a bit concerning.
I mean Tbf the one cloudstrider they did send they got killed
maybe we could be the ones visiting? idk
They did NOT care about earth lol. Pretty much only made contact when calus landed in their back yard
@crude haven Neomuna was far away from anything we Guardians "grew up" dealing with
Not even like the Awoken who had supporting parties to help us during the Hildean campaign.
Neomuna just straight up left us alone
sice its pre dark ages how did we get izanagis in trailer lol
Not only that, there's also an almost unresolved kind of "We told our kids that guardians were evil" thing????
Technically we made contact with them. They obviously had no intentions on contacting us
@crude haven alternate timeline/universe
I mean when the neomunians looked at earth they saw the warlords, the main problems of the dark ages, they worked as tyrants and where very much evil
According to Byf, Izanagis did technically exist during the dark ages. Just not fully constructed
Since the Black Armory existed for a long time
We are the first benevolent lightbearers they meet
Also on the notion of a different timeline.....does that mean we will be part of the "Downfall" Timeline?
Black armory existed pre-collapse and during the early collapse. Foundries could have scattered. Warlords also sought after Ada for the fact that she is probably the most technologically advanced Exo capable of forging almost any weapon.
Oh btw I saw a Crux/Lomar weapon in the trailer
I thought rising is set between dark ages and city age pretty much
Yep.
Weren’t there three major foundries that survived the collapse?
Sure, but I'm sure at least on of them had to go "Dude, Look at that somewhat civilized city that's popped up. Looks like people are actually happy there"
neomuna was probably being built during the dark age
@coarse kestrel since it's changed anything could have happened, none of what we know holds up. So anyone could've made Izi
3 families forged the inital foundry. Ada was the last member of it. During the collapse, she got injured and was converted into an Exomind in the last foundry. Then her and her biological mother went on the run to find refuge elsewhere.
They never looked back. From the lore tabs they say that their last contact with earth was when that one cloudstider went to delete Neomuna records
Or was there another time? Idk
Absolutely phenomenal lorebook. Give The Black Armory Papers a read
I know a bit about the Black Armory lore tabs
Wasn’t Ada turned into an exo due to an injury?
One of the most intrguing lore books following the case of a mother having her child die, only to be put into a super Exo who had no memory.
I thought that was Ada?
The average neomunian never even saw earth, the only people who did was the government and the risks they saw with contacting earth was a lot more risk then reward
@coarse kestrel well I guess the Lore holds up for both the Traveler and The Witness since I don't think their ideals have changed at all even in this new timeline
Also the Concordat might actually be a big player
Yes. It is Ada. She is the last of the black armory. Her full name is Adalaide
Yea I remember my lore right
Good boi ❤️
That’s actually a really nice name
Yay
oh maan, concordat is another thing they keep sneaking into main game every now and then but don't actually do anything substantial with
Yep, literally a German descent name practically meaning noble kin
Kewl
Welp, day one of Destiny: Rising Discord, and we've already got somebody called a good boy
Maybe we finally get some content for them lol
LMAO
@coarse kestrel the Goodest Good boi it seems 😂
There was a scene in the developer preview where they drew a line between the collapse and the dark age
Lmao. And surprising it was me who got called a good boy
They boxed collapse and then showed a brief timeline
2:30 in the developer preview
I once created a head cannon lore about California for the Destiny universe. Specifically for San Francisco
It's pre-city age post Dark-age just based off of context alone.
Gone. Reduced to atoms. Forgotten. Never to be seen again. As it should be.
I'm banking on this game being one of the Downfall timelines who else?
I call it the San Francisco Quarantine Zone
I honestly really appreciate that the developer preview talked at length about which era this game takes place in, it shows some evidence of tender love and care
Not even the black fleet wanted to touch San Francisco
lol
lol
line went to Radegast, Iron Lords then Wolf, so I think it was just to illustrate the origins of Wolf and the Iron Lords
Didn't parts of NA get nuked even prior to the collapse. I swear Manhatten was destroyed even before the collapse.
I wonder how the collapse effected Washington? Bungie's based here, after all...
Yea the Manhattan Nuclear Zone
Yeah I think so; Manhattan is referred to as a nuclear zone
Fellow Washingtonian here. we do have a region in the PNW called New Whilge in the Puget Sound!
It's strange that two beloved studios are located in Bellingham, considering that one of them technically doesn't exist, and got folded into the other (hopoo and valve)
How will this affect Pete Parsons car collection???
New Whilge? huh. Wonder if we would get any fun exotics
Literally lived a mile off of the shore of the Puget Sound for years until a few years back.
Its so cool out there
My headcannon lore for San Francisco was that during the Golden Age, rare and valuable materials were discovered within the San Andreas fault line. And so most cities around it became major mining corporations. Especially San Francisco. Eventually a mining disaster occurred which released dangerous chemicalss/radiation/smth which made San Francisco unlivable. Turning it into a quarantine zone. Eventually in modern Destiny, I had Red Legion remnants (now Shadow Legion) mining the fault line for resources
Well, you can pace the grounds, from cascades to puget sound...
I think London ended up being the most advanced earth city during the golden age
I feel like Beijing was. Just considering it was a major center of research.
Was expecting smth like Tokyo
Destiny lore just isn’t near the level of Skibidi Toilet lore sorry it’s just true🤷♂️💯
real
Yall think the Last City is in Chile or the Himalayas?
South America something I think
Ok kiddo
Actually don't think we have anything on Japan during the Golden Age outside of the fact that Japan was part of the Black Armory
chile most likely
Chile off of like 8 year old research]
My headcanon is that Seattle would either get an expanded entertainment industry, or have a VERY prominent bray facility. Everybody thinks about Silicon Valley when it comes to tech, but all the old tech companies are over here.
I still feel like the Himalayas made more sense
There is the line of “crossing the Panama ravine”
True. I wonder what the Darien Gap was like after the collapse lmao
The exact same
I find it funny how Shaw Hawn gave us a sparrow and expected us to drive across the ocean to get to the Last City
Since we going from Russia to Chile if that is the location of the Last City
Ah yes, the Last Cutey!
Lmao
Do not use that against me
Can't believe there was another cutey on Neptune this whole time
'='

Saw someone argue that the last city is located in Nepal
Do we have any reference to Nepal in the lore?
The only evidence to that is the skybox and the fact we “walked” to the edz
read it in a reddit thread
Depends on whether or not you think we walked or flew to the edz
I feel like we should just datamine files off of Clovis Bray's big ass head
I'd sure as hell hope we flew lmao.
Nah I’d throw it into the trash. I doubt anything in that big dome is useful
I'll quote from reddit
"There is a thread where it’s latitude was worked out based on stars and shadows. The shadows indicated it was in the Southern Hemisphere (which was deduced to be Peru because of the mountains). Then a throw away account stating it was a Bungie Dev said that one of the numbers input into the lighting engine was reversed (negative instead of positive). Many people found the throw away account credible, and agreement was that it was intended to be in the Northern Hemisphere and, therefore, likely Nepal."
I know that the EDZ was used by a lot of refugee's as a resupply site to bring back stuff to other Human colonies. Amanda has a few lines refering to it.
Could have included Nepalese civilizations
There’s two sides, either A) we walked to the EDZ where we encountered Hawthorne and then flew to the Farm, or B) we encountered Hawthorne in which we flew to the EDZ
Are there titan speaker men and G man toilet in Destiny? Exactly. Destiny lore is objectively inferior to Skibidi Toilet lore in complexity and depth, prove me wrong.
Woe: Deep Stone Crypt Lore be upon ye
We encountered Hawthorne and then flew to the farm I think
Look up just the Hive lore books
Would need to rewatch the mission, but my guess is we encountered Hawthorne then flew away considering she was talking about leaving the walls before we leave If I remember correctly.
Hello my fellow destiny lovers❤️
Yo
Tbh the environment where we encountered Hawthorne after escaping the City looks very much like a European landscape than a Chilean one
Yall sleeping on destiny rule thirty four 😭🙏
Everytime i beat it to destiny pron my pp gets so hard and i just release it all over my pc
Why? Just why?
Ok, she says that they wanted to get as far away as possible from the city before leaving, so I'd imply it means that we're far away from the EDZ. mentions it being a long flight as well
it gets so sticky and then i have to lick it off
Please shut
Been flipping through some reddit posts, saw someone who managed to get the approximate location
Crucify this guy @hazy latch
stick it in me ahh harder i’m coming ahhh
said it was somewhere along the edge of the himalayas.
TO THE CROSs!
Despite my beliefs, there’s more evidence showing that the Last City is located in Chile
I've been chatting for at least 2 hours lmao, no plan to stop either, having so much fun lol
he said it was somewhere in pokhara?
Specifically the Amanda Holiday lore books and the Serifs Shield mission
Maybe the real location of the city was the friends we made along the way❤️
In my educated and honest opinion backed by countless hours of research, skibidi toilet rule thirty four is objectively superior in every way.
How could somebody as American as Holiday get to the last city on foot? By it being on the same land mass, of course!
Someone remove this gen alpha kid?
Using D1 orbit and serif shield only really work considering there was no continental shift that happened during the Golden Age and collapse.
lol
Burn this guy at the stake, set his flesh ablaze for his unholy soul to be cleansed by forces above ourself
Quote from reddit "The Southern Hemisphere DOES NOT make sense. Although I understand where people are coming from here.
The crucible maps that show locations similar to the Cosmodrome state that it is in the "outskirts" of the Last City.
So if the outskirts of the city has building that look similar to the Russian Cosmodrome, how can they be in Peru? It doesn't make sense.
Now, Baikonur, one of the largest Russian Cosmodromes is located in Kazakhstan, one of the Russian satellites. If we assume that as civilization expanded and grew during the golden age, more of them were built in the old Russian satellite countries, we move close and closer to the Nepal location.
Okno, a Russian space observatory, is located in Tajikistan. Even closer to Nepal. So we already have backup from real world Russian construction in the region dating back to the 1970's."
Send this man to Xivu’s throne world
Based off my calculations, it’s been around 1000 years since the Traveler was first discovered if it is true it was 2014
I don’t think there was much continental drift
Considering the pace of tectonic movement, you could probably count on it being the same
Facts don’t care about your soy liberal feelings fart face
Not considering timewise. Considering impacts of the collapse considering it was capable of creating large geological and celestial disturbances in the case of Titan.
If I remember correctly, didn't savathun help save us before things went truly horrible?
Wasn't it due to witness influence
Titan literally had anomolous gravity that formed large Tsunami's and literally bent the moon into an ovoid temporarily before it crashed and destroyed all of cilization.
But that still doesn’t mean the earth was left unscathed
Wasn’t there a Titan who can punch mountains
Goddamn it the black fleet removed Australia
Savathun did save us somehow, but humanity wouldn't of been wiped out if she protected all of Earth.
I think Australia was left untouched
Even the witness doesn’t want to deal with the creatures there
Didn't she save us by hiding the Veil?
I thought savathun made some families on earth sing some song that kept the traveler from fleeing?
YES!!! Wei Ning. I'm a Fighting Line OTP w/ over 75k+ PVE Kills. She was a Titan who literally beat Ahamkhara to death with her fists during the great hunt!
She casted an illusion that made the Traveler look destroyed
Of course, but I think the fact that the earth in all of the images looks pretty much the same, tells us that it wasn't joever for earth's tectonic plates.
Yes, she also killed Nezerac
She did a lot of things, actually
Didn’t her partner tell her to use a gun, only for her to make the Fighting Lion?
Who hasn't at this point lol
Which is equal to her fists?
Yep, Eriana if I remember correctly.
I find it funny how she was like “stop using your firsts. U gotta use a gun” only for Wei to be like “bet. I’ll make my fists into bullets”
She died at Crota's hands during the great disaster and was so strong Crota literally grabbed a medallion from her corpse. Eriana was one of the six original guardians to delve into the hellmouth in revenge.
Oh lord
Actually, nevermind kabr and praedyth, it would be severely messed up to play as omar or eriana
Based off power scaling, who do you think is the most powerful guardian we’ve encountered
Ya, they both didn't have the greatest fates.
I’m thinking either Ikora or Saint
Ourselves, mostly.
Ignoring us
I'm guessing Ikora in terms of light, Saint based off of combat experience.
Xenophage simulator
Only after prismatic. Before that it would be Ikora since we never meet Shin.
Omar in Forspoken be like: "Eyy! I'm a freakin' BUG!!!"
Say… I wonder what gods we’ll turn into guns in this new Destiny game…
The actual answer is Shaw Han
Bro was kicked from multiple fireteams
He's not lightless???
Hes definitely not lightless
Doesn’t use the light anymore. Doesn’t trust ghosts
According to this gamerant article, Shaw Han is actually the 21st strongest guardian, couldn't be wrong. I have 100% faith
Doesn't trust his ghost. Doesn't make him lightless.
Still has his ghost tho. Just a little crazy after what happened
If ya can die and can’t use your light, I count that as lightless
He's crazy, simply because he is all that the dark ages necessitated: He survived, he ate Hive Eyes, and, importantly, he modified his ghost, making it forever mute but able to do taken shenanigans.
Yea. Cuz he was stuck in that ice planet
wait so if the game take place in alternative time line is after the golden age? or before the golden age?
With those crazy monsters
Surviving europa before we got there is impressive in of itself
Shin Malphur was also up there
It takes place between the dark ages and city ages. In that era where the battles between guardians stopped and before the walls were constructed
hmmm noted
Actually, in retrospect, what did he find there? Tormentors? Dread-ified unknown races?
The Dread was created after the Witness entered the Traveler.
If we were to see a Destiny full-length cinematic what would you all love to see?
I'd personally love to see either the story of Wei Ming and Eriana and their relationship
"You don't even have to ask. I'd follow you to the end of the galaxy."
OR
Last Days on Kraken Mare | Probably the best possibly introduction to a Destiny show pilot as it introduces braytech, humanities current state, and leaves us in the dark on the collapse but shows it being insanely devistating.
The entire books of sorrow
I’d like to see Lord Shaxx decapitating Felwinter with just a backhand
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners style nightmare short series about the Hellmouth.
Dredgen Yor western
I’d like to see Saint’s entire journey through the Infinite Forest
Okay, so it'd definitely have to be an anthology series, right?
Yeah absolutely
Yea
Would be sick! I'd love to see Oryx slaying Akka. I'm a fanatic for trying to understand the Worm-Gods. Literally spent like 5 hours making a reddit post discussing every single mention of them, their entire stories, every implication they could have, their connection to Ahamkhara, and the 3 remaining worms-gods we know little on.
And the concept of Anthem Anatheme lol
I really need to read more lore
This game is cannon?
All my lore is limited to My Name is Byf and Evaze videos
prolly
Not really. It takes place in an alternate universe but because of the peraverse it could be
The perverse?!?
If it gets popular enough, it might start its own lore series
I'm never going to get over how fantastic the Taken King / Witch Queen lore was
Would love to see Yul at some point in the story. Literally a space dragon the size of a small celestial body. They are described to have wings and to be coated in silver scales. Considering only a segment of Akka was used to create the Dreadnaught and the fact that Yul and Ur feasted on the Leviathan and have lived for billions of years longer, it is crazy to even think about them.
It’s like a multiverse. But more complex
Probably Google it
Oh the honest worm.
I was joking about the typo, no worries.
Of course! Brilliant!
I prefer to see stories about Guardians.
Eir would be cool to see as well considering they are likely a follower of the Witness or allies in the darkness. The Witness had the power to shape life how they saw fit and reshape stuff, similar to how Eir was capable of literally mutating the Hive in how they saw fit.
Like the Iron Lords or Warlords
Also a Games of Thrones style show about Mara and the distributary would be so cool
Ngl seeing Ikora with hair is weird
I want to know about the war our guardian was in before the ghost revived us
And I'm pretty sure Ur has only ever had a mention that she feasted upon the Leviathan as well and had a liking for Sathona
I think that war was called traffic
very tragic war name
If you want a real mindbender, take a good look at the concept of pataphysics, especially as shown in some SCP short stories and entries. Initally designed far before then as a parody of science, however.
Since we were revived in the middle of a blocked highway
tragic was in gerneral
The war on christmas, working to push christmas out of November!
The Battle of Twilight Gap I would very much like to see
I genuinely can't stand it, Went to a bath and body works October 1st and literally already saw christmas candles!
But, if we're talking about obscure elements of destiny lore, I've got something over you folks: MARATHON!
And now my Gurdian, never lived on my smartphone except for the D2 app
I saw Christmas decorations during the middle of September
Give Halloween its time!
Oh durandel
No idea on Marathon lore in Infinity. Only played up to the second game
Did ya know that the 10th anniversary armor set tells a story about a family?
I found a PC opensource port a bit ago and had a lot of fun.
Marathon is also in the destiny paraverse which is cool
yk for phyllax being known as merciless in the battle of twilight gap, she sure was easy to take down
Savathun is playing with new cards huh
From their first arrival to the City, their experience of Twilight Gap and the Red War, to the celebrations after the Witness’s defeat
Isn’t all the Bungie games in the Destiny Paraverse?
Not just mr. door handle himself, but MIDA, and the concept of the player as an archetypal hero who returns whenever they are needed, as the Security Guard and Master Chief did before.
Imagine if the Master Chief was revived as a guardian
That would be a sight to see
Hell, concepts established in Marathon reverberate all across bungie, like the concept of Rampant AI (and later, generally ai named after european mythology)
They tried, he didn't want to
Hell, the reclaimer symbol in the original halo literally was the Marathon logo, before 343 had to change it.
did you see the video Byf did with community artists / animators? it's not quite the whole Books but it's a bunch of Hive stuff
definitely after the collapse
Did you know that there is a family in Destiny lore who literally sung Savathun's song prior to the collapse?
Dynasty my beloved
Another reason why humanity survived, probably.
more than a family. iirc it was most of humanity
I'm on the moon, its made of cheese...
They were called the Rigby family. One of our first known interactions with the Hive outside of the fact that Crota has had forces on the Moon long before we existed and the fact that there was a cult worshipping Nezerac during the Golden Age,
I still can;t wait to see Nezerac expanded!
Oh for he is no devil. A fiend, vile in all his ways
At least, expanded beyond making Misraaks a cancer allegory
The purest light, the darkest hour!
Prior to LF, it was my head cannon that Nezerac was a being who had betrayed the Witness. Still find it weird how he is still described as a being of light even now.
Oh wait, I think there's material there for a brain-blast about the consequences of prolonging life
He is a path and a way, one of many. And his sin—so wicked, so divine—is that he will never cower when dusk does fall, but stand vigilant as old stars die and new Light blinks its first upon this feted eternity.
He is that which is end, that which covets sin.
Void-light. It was always seen as suspicious for a reason.
And He shall rise again
I;m talking about descriptions as being the purest light, divine in nature, "Arch and vile in many ways"
Also while we’re on nezarek what happened to the witness’s main pyramid ship we see at the end of red war. It was definitely not the same as the one we saw in TFS.
Very interesting choice to describe his nature. May possibly refer to a duality in Nezerac's nature. Knowing that he is a collective in a way who can split his conciousness, it's possible he exists as two sides in a way. One of vile in Nezerac, the final god of pain, dark god of fear, and one who is Arch, literally refering to be a pathway to the divine.
Always kinda interesting that he served the witness given that the final shape was totally contradictory to Nez’s goals
Here's the pieces I could put together:
- The current state of Misraaks is, like I said, very much a cancer allegory. Picture this: A loved one, hooked up to a machine and turning evermore bitter as they look into the abyss.
- Fikrul, and the scorn, are also kind of a cancer allegory. They are beings that cannot die, and wish to spread their malaise, in all it's tumourous growth. The biggest difference is that Fikrul has daddy issues. This has become even more apparent, as the Echo has allowed him to turn even living Eliksni.
- Both sides of the conflict are torn. Eido wants to save her father, and is doing everything she can, but she also needs to find a cure for Fikrul. We're tasked with doing the impossible. It shouldn't be lost on us that we are also now killing Eliksni that were turned into the Revenant Scorn. Not that we had many reservations about killing Eliksni anyways, but I digress.
Probably already been mentioned but I like that the Traveller is a tree in this timeline, kind of like Yggdrasil from Norse Mythology
Yep. Also interesting considering Nezerac is likely a being who is formed by pure darkness. The dark makes up the psychological/theoretical domain of the Destiny universe, and a being who is the literal concept of fear ought to be a fragment of the greater Darkness in a pure form.
He is reliant on civilization to exist similar to the Nine as long as people have fear, Nezerac will exist.
No idea what part of him would decide to work with the Witness out of enciting terror, but at the same time it is killing, something contradictory to his nature.
Pushing civilization for an end would be wanting to bring about his own end
Honestly I was hoping he would be something entirely separate from the black fleet that we took on after TFS
Rubbing my two braincells together: Is revenant a thinly-veiled story on the ethics of prolonging life medically?
The Sword Logic also loses meaning with the Witness' end game. It was manipulating them into serving it, they weren't really getting what they wanted.
A story about not drinking tea made from corpses. Great Britain could have used that one a while ago 🤣
Rhulk was the only one who got it lol
The Drifter encountered a Tomb of Nezerac out in deep space. All Nezerac needs is a host to be reborn.
I think it might also have themes of diaspora, given that another goal of ours is to recover culture that is lost to us. Eido, being an earth-born Eliksni, is well befitting for that role.
#1 Witness simp
Didn't Osiris also drink the tea
Oh yeah I get that lol
I hope I'm making sense here
🤣
that whole thing about Variks taking her on as an apprentice is really cool
Would be funny if he was entirely tea based and had nothing to do with spreading through fear
House Judgement stonks on the rise
still waiting for a Scribe title to replace Chronicler
Final god of earl grey
HOT
Definetely. One of the main focal points that Destiny should be exploring with the Eliksni is pushing them past their obsession with the Traveller and have them develop past scavengers. Returning to Riis could be a cathartic moment for them, discovering past knowledgem, culture, and reconvening with the pure either.
I am brand new to the funny mobile destiny discussion, is any of it actually have to do with destiny 2 lore? or is it more so simply imspired and does what ever tf it wants?
I'm also a Riis truther. I'd like to see it as well as Torobatl. And they did say we're going beyond the solar system so.... fingers crossed
50/50
The Eliksni are a very religious civilization, they are bound by it, and Riis is a ritualistic site for them, them confronting their past is the main point to expand forward.
Riis is the only site of natural Either for the Eliksni, so kinda like Aarakis in Dune lol w/ it's spice and melange.
Brb gotta go ride a worm god
I could see a future for the Eliksni is communing with machines and becoming Exo. We know Aatraks was free from Either.
It's set after the Dark Ages but before the City Age. It's also an alternate timeline, not the same one as D2. So it'll be similar but different. Not too much info yet but it seems exciting and there will probably be a few familiar faces in the Iron Lords 🙂
GL man
Only the true Slayor-Barons can accomplish it.
So, for those keeping count, the big themes so far are:
- Cancer and the Medical Prolonging of Life
- Diaspora trying to Reconnect to an Actively Dying Culture
Anything else?
Catch up on your Ulurant and Chakobsan
lisan al gaib tiltle when?
Once again, bungie has proven themselves woke /j
Kell of Rain.
Makes total sense now and actually perfect thing they could have done with a mobile destiny game
Vampire are spooky
Another point could be religious conflict. The Scorn and the Eliksni are in a full on religious war right now lol.
there are 10000000 moments in the worldbuilding that have enough material for another game or animated series or live action film or books or... etc. but yeah this is a really cool moment! I love hearing about the Warlords / Iron Lords
I wish they made more comic books instead of just one
Wish they made the tv show they were talking about
Alchemy & transformations IG? There's the obvious potions and trying to alter Misraaks' body but also the Scorn zombiefication and Atraaks' transcendence into an Exo body
How does it always come back to the Golden Dawn?
The Scorn are a vile contortion of Eliksni who are attempting to carve a path forward for their species unlike the Eliksni who are bound by who they once were. The main conflict we can say in this season will be the conflict of the Eliksni becoming unbound, and confronting the fact that their connection to their old ways is what holds them back.
Eido has a conversation with an older Eliksni who had experienced the great drift and it is actually a really insightful discussion. Talking about how newborn Eliksni are born to a newfound peace for the race, even if their ways are decaying. She talks about her their old ways actively bring them unrest.
Everything Crow and Fikrul are going through rn is also pretty heavy
Oh, how could I forget. Parenthood!
this game will have you looking over your shoulder real quick
Oh boy, the Aatraks conversation is something entirely else lmao
Hate it when my kid makes a zombie army
bio parenthood and intellectual mentorship too. yeah
mask of bakris tab haunts me in my sleep
I think Vesper's Host is setting up story regarding Frontiers. Definetely not Sol based conflicts.
Let me read it quick lol
JESUS
That is uncomfortable to read Lmao
I was gonna add a tw for body horror but slowmode prevented it lol
"wet your hands in this imposter's gore, spread it about"
just girly things
Unrelated, but I'd like a robot body, that'd be swell
do NOT let Clovis hear that
Would be interesting, but not a fan of the idea of Alkahest twisting my minds, random memory wipes, random entire system wipes upon encountering Vex corruption, and the fact that Clovis installed a war switch in every Exo.
Oh, who said I wanted a robot brain?
I've seen SOMA. I want my own self in that body, please.
I found 7-10 year old raidsecrets posts by Seventh_Circle & sanecoin the other day. I'd connected some dots but they really had a Proper Corkboard going.
So you want a gooey network of dura mater stuck in a metal shell
God It's been years since I've played that.
As long as I can still have all my faculties, sure!
Phenomenal game regarding the ethics and reality of mind scans and a future humanity in robot shells.
Destiny is a horror game cosplaying as a T rated fps
As long as my brain continues to function, I think it'd be nice to have a robot body.
gASP!
Le Gasp
Definetely can hit the right spots lol. The body esc horror in TFS is genuinely uncomfortable at times.
I'm very particular on my horror, and Destiny still does a pretty good job.
The deep stone crypt has always been one of my favorites. However fictional, it actually gets into the logistics and design considerations for conciousness duplication.
Not a fan of slashers, more so a fan of psychological, cosmis, and inescapable horror.
it is much more peaceful in here then main chat i wish you all a goodnight and for both sides of your pillow to be cold the next time you sleep
Love the Shining, House of Leaves, and Still Wakes the Deep
Oh, cool fan theory on Xivu Arath.
It is possible that Xivu tricked the Cabal empire into praising her.
Many Cabal have Hive esc names, and their entire civilization is a warefaring society based around strength, honor, and death.
goodnight guardian, & likewise 🫂
That makes a lot of sense
Same, see y'all starside
Shleep well my little lore fiend
Caiatl's name is an extremely lovely little rebellion against Hive philosophy
lemme find the tab
"it may not always go how it needs to go"
I just think it's a cool little theory. Her creating a spacefaring empire that feeds her death for free. Only to feast upon it when TFS is neared and she needs power.
"The doomed and the damned left the record of their downfall in the OXA. Your star got its name from the oldest myths in that archive. And when your mother told your father that story... the star became your name. A prayer that all will go as it must... and the way it must go is struggle."
"Aiat." Not a word in Ulurant or any other Cabal tongue. "But Caiatl means something else."
"Yes. 'It may not always go as it needs to go.’ A good name for a soldier."
"A strange name for a daughter." I say.
"Your father chose it for your mother's sake. Out of love."
Would totally track with her character too
Even umun arath being the one to bring her to torobatl
Seeya man
C ya
this is where I get really emo about the way Earth escaped Torobatl's fate & tell everyone I'm still wearing the 'unflexable' Seraph title
nighty night :3
I should probably hit the night train
Hopefully talk again peeps
240 messages in the first day on the server is insane lmao
see ya! I'll do my best not to lose track of the server this time lol
it's nice to see the enthusiasm :3
Honestly excited for ramifications on the dark future timelines. Though it looks like we’ll be seeing stuff from before Elsie’s time loop.
I'm now seeing a TON of videos talking about where this is taking place, like before the Tower, after the Tower, it's all over the place now.
THE TOWER
Probably while the tower was still in construction
