Yes, you can compare the two and they're different games in tone.
D1 despite being Sci-Fi felt much more grounded, it had that Star Wars/Star Trek theme with different aliens, politics and even super natural. But it also blended some Fantasy elements with the design of weapons, armour, lore, crafts and naming. And it was a slow burn, I wish it told me more while still having some questions.
And you definitely feel alone in this universe, even though there are guardians around, people to see, it all felt distant to me. You may be the 'chosen one' but you're not the center of attention.
Destiny 2 went more heavily into the sci-fi, it felt lighter in tone and more epic than before. If Destiny 1 was Star Trek, it was the OG Series. While Destiny 2 felt like a mixture of Voyager and J.J Abrams
And this was the first and only time I ever did a Raid in D1, it was sensational but we had an awesome raider who guided us. Without him it would've gone way more south.
Chatted to 2 guys who I hung out with for a little, they were friendly and awesome.

Not sure if I'll roll a fresh character, game is completely different while familiar, no mantle, no infinite primary ammo, 30fps, controller, grindier but those were damn good times. I'd rathe play this than current D2.
Another thing Bungie can try and do to save grace? Destiny Classic, all you have to do is make 60fps, Crossplay and put it on PC. No need for drastic changes

That's a taller order than it sounds. Even in D2 there's a lot of stuff that's framerate dependent, still. Going over 60 is liable to get you killed due to glitchy frame based damage things.

I'll be honest, I was worried I was going to struggle with the controller. I think my muscle memory kicked in and while not great, it's not as bad as you think. The downside is definitely the field of view and framerate.

Also note, for anyone that is considering playing D1. Try not to invest into anything so early into the game like using important resources to upgrade armour and weapons. Even when your get your first legendary you'll probably be dismantling it in PvE content unless it's good for Crucible. The end game is level 40
Also...I got an achievement starting the game. For completing the Taken King story...you mean to tell me, after 10+ years since I originally completed it, NOW it registered!? XD

I'm actually shocked how different Petra here is compared to her D2 version.
D1 Petra is a lot more chummy despite being outsiders, she's witty and playful. But there was always an edge to her.
D2 I think they made her more serious and went with the edge. Actually, after Taken King I think it makes more sense thinking about after Uldren and then Mara disappeared. She must've been acting leader of the Reef and had more responsibilities than before.

And lets start in the performance tab
Select vulkan if not already selected
Than press the drop down menu in the top right and choose custom. Set the CPU cores to 8 (if unstable set it to 6), than set the ram to 8GB
And here you should select auto, but if its too laggy select "Less resource usage"

Now go to the displat tab on the left and set the resolution to the same as your monitor
And here you just put the slider to your monitors FPS/HZ, and select show FPS
Now you are done and can play, there are more options but its more for preference
