It's completely doable to do everything f2p, though as a brand new player you're missing out on some of the best characters, that were only available for a limited time. The only areas dedicated f2p will struggle are deep expanse and cordon, which don't really offer material rewards. The only thing f2p can't max like whales can is battle pass weapons. The best you can hope for is maxing about 1 a year unless you spend black market coins on battle pass tokens

Oh and character ascensions, f2p don't get enough to realistically get more than a1 on each new char

its always slow for games where banners have no 50/50

low spenders (bp premium+ and monthly) is slightly faster on getting character talents, while if you get weeklies on top of it, you can get a character to t6 in like 1~2 seasons which is fair

assuming you're starting now, you might be able to get a character to t1 or t2 (assuming you're not pulling on the current limited) since you'll still be able to get up to 6900 lumia off cordon and up to 3360 lumia off expanse endless

Honestly $5/month for the blessing + playing the game gets you at least 1 copy of every character. Another $5 gets you the battlepass. Blessing alone is enough for the content mainly.
