ya so lets say you get a god roll with no upgraded perks, just regular mythic. You get another copy of that gun with an upgraded perk for one of the perks you want. You can transfer that upgraded perk to the copy you actually care about

The shards also don't work on the Talent Tree, there is a separate Ascend tab now that they work on once you have the character

So if you can get 40 shards first and somehow only have enough to do 60 pulls, then you can at least get T1 instead of just T0. The question is, is T1 > A1, and that is going to be character dependent. I would say in the case of Efrideet, T1 > A1
