I'm not saying the perk literally gives a damage buff. but because the gun fires so quickly and overloads to 2x mag size, you get twice as many shots and thus twice as much damage per full mag

additionally, if you're using it on maru, her weapon mastery cares about the number of shots you fire. so you fire twice as many shots before needing to reload, which triggers twice as much weapon mastery, which does lots of damage

yes and no - to some extent, everything in this game is a matter of taste. but I did a bunch more testing using a similar test to the one you did (dumping reserves into a shank point-blank against the wall) and the difference was relatively minimal there. I saw about 200k extra weapon damage on the conj/polyploidy vs the ALH/eager asp, which is really not consequential IMO. took about 2-3s longer to get that extra 200k damage, too. upgraded polyploidy maybe makes a bigger difference here? or maybe the difference you saw had to do with different exotic mods?

Also on top of that, blast damage itself isn't consistent, even when firing at the same angle and the enemy hasn't flinched. Interestingly tho, shrapnel doesn't seem to have blast falloff, so it does the same damage at the edge of the explosion as the center

That's good to hear, repeatable results are good. What I did is spawned the enemy on "farthest" so that they were up against a wall, it helped the shrapnel be more consistent. I tried it with and without max resonance to take the shells out of the equation and with shells it was about a 150-200k difference, and then without it was around the same. So I don't think the marginal weapon damage boost is incredibly impactful for her, I'd take the burst/utility of ALH any day
