the problem with the former is that it's hard to update the module and point it out to everyone - differing versions would result in wildly unexpected behaviors
the problem with the latter is that it's a dependency, and it's becoming quite an annoyance for a lot of people in the community to manually install/update a bunch of dependencies

I think the latter. Like other api mods, I don't think we would lose any convenience on the coding side of things. It would also make it a lot easier to adopt if people dont need to find the exact right place to put files. Also makes updating more convenient.
like I do want to add some more background features to CardAnim - for instance the minimum 10fps is a hinderance for a couple of cases, and I want people to be able to set the minimum fps for their own mod

Added the Mortal form of Circulus Pistoris: Blueberry Pi and the Ascension of Code Joker: Transcriptio Virtualis to the GitHub! I decided to keep blueberry the same since it was good as it was. This effect for Code Joker is arguably stronger than the initially proposed form as it gives you some control of the cards you recieve.
I think making every played card retriggers like 5 times or something is better

An Important Announcement:
We are currently aiming to reach the milestone of 72 vanilla and cryptid Jokers. That number represents presently 20% of the total number of Jokers across those mods combined. We want 72 as that roughly means you would have at least 1 joker on you at any given time that can engage with the mechanics of the mod. We are about halfway there with 43 of these Jokers. Once we have reached that 1 in 5 Jokers threshold, things will be moving forward in a major way.
At that point, we will begin creating official releases for the mod (version numbers whooo) and start making our presence known more. It also involves polishing and bug testing, so be on the lookout when we ask for some assistance with it.

It is more than fine to use red here for the demonic type mults. That is why it was chosen to represent Mult. I don't think you need to reinvent the wheel here.

Got the campfire exotic programmed. We are just waiting for art at this point. From my testing, I think 0.02 is fair, but I might need to raise it to 0.03. Would like someone to experiment with it to get their opinion on it. Also, it majorly benefits from cryptposting installed due to the plathera of $1 jokers it makes avliable.
Temp art is the background for the sapling exotic which I also need to finish.
Glass Joker Exotic, the current one only charge ^Mult when Glass 2 is destroyed, which may took very long time to charge the value, the reproposal is to solve the issue and closely to match the effect of Base Glass Joker, while also keep the existing exotic effect

Here is a take on the demonic type mults. This isn't the final design by any means, and I especially don't want to discount what the axolotl provided. I am just posting this so I can communicate some ideas I had for them.
Right now, this demonic design is too busy. It's hard to read the design in its current state.
Without the body and trident, the design is more readable. I do think it should be doing something, though, like pointing to cards in some way.

This is what I currently have art-wise for Formidibus's mortal form: Exorcist. For this Joker, I tried hard to stick to the Balatro palette. I chose to reference Pizza Tower as there is, coincidentally, a character called Exorcist who wields a similar-looking golden cross.

Added Campfire's Ascension: Silva Arden's (Needs Art) and Formidiulosus's Mortal Form: Exorcist. Also, a MASSIVE thanks to Somethingcom515 for their help on the Smeared Joker, Mime, Four Finger, Ceremonial Dagger, and To the Moon exotic. This makes 6.5 Jokers being uploaded in the same night, which is insane! We are making some serious progress.

Idea for an updated four fingers effect:
Most hands can be made with fewer cards
Extra cards contribute to Ascension Power
Examples:
Two pair = 2 cards with differing suits and ranks
Flush = 2 cards with the same suit
Straight = 2 cards with ranks one off from each other
Full House = 1 and 2 cards with different ranks
Five of a kind = 3 cards of the same rank
Bulwark = 2 stone cards
Ultimate Pair = regular two pair, but with each pair having two different shared suites
Clusterfuck = 3 cards of different suits and ranks
TEFD = 52 cards played regardless of suite or rank.
I think with this it might be worthy of exotic

Expanding on this since I want all hands to still be available:
An option is to make 4oak 3 cards and 5oak 4 cards, but I don't think this is ideal
I think we would have to make it two cards with the same rank and suit, but that would make it easier to play than a full house, which seems weird to me, but it would require deck fixing, so it is probably fine. A pair would then be two cards with shared rank, with differing suits.
As for 3oak, maybe we have it where if your hand only has three cards it always counts as a three of a kind? That is a very hack solution though. Maybe we just need a prefrence setting?

I am planning to offer the first real realise once we get to (currently 72) Jokers. I am waiting to do this as one of the key features of the mod will be to transform cards to their exotic counterpart, and I don't think playing the mod before that feature is fleshed out will give a good picture of what it is trying to be. We also still need to iron out some bugs and features across the board. Feel free to view what we have on the Github currently if you want a sneak peek!
I have some versions of it in Balatro and its really fun for what there is currently I am quite excited to see the rest
I think we should definitely keep this idea in our back pocket when/if we get to Ortlab. The current effect is actually much more suited to be Prismatic Joker's ascension effect instead. When that happens, I think we will use this one as a replacment for smeared's effect.
Had to cheat a hint to get the full name in. Metamorphic programming is a technique where a program can change its internal structure while maintaining its functionality. While usually this is used more sinisterly by viruses, in this context it is here to remake a card into a better version of itself.
I think a code card is fitting for this effect: "Transforms one viable Joker into their ascended form for 3 rounds".
This will take the form of a sticker on the Joker that saves what the original Joker was, so even if you used it on a gaining Joker, you can get right back to it after the effect without having to start over.
If it is a code card, I will need to balance it with multiply to somehow not invalidate it. I don't think it will as some Exotic effects couldn't be gotten by just mutilating stats. As well, some exotics need time to "charge up" so multiply could be better in that scenerio. Maybe it just needs to be half as common as the normal code card?
Also, metamorphic can't be stacked unlike multiply
I may also have to limit the use of commit on these transformed jokers. It's bad enough when that happens with a Translucent Joker, but at least you need to fully own one before that happens.

Greed X - Diamonds give money equal to previously scored (not including retriggers?) diamonds.

Even if it wasn't the main focus, I think I am coming around to this idea of making improved version of things, at least for exotics. It could be a good way to simultaneously stay faithful yet seem new.
For example, while I think the current Booster Joker effect is solid, I was imagining recently that it could also have the ability to unlock imported versions of packs that could appear in the shop. Imagine an improved empowered pack that didn't require you to sacrifice your Jokers to get an exotic.

Interesting, so this kinda reminds me of ortalabs zodiacs, right? But just applied to the hand itself, with no decay. Hmm. I don't exactly have an exact suggetion to play this aside from 'take notes from ortalab zodiac', but it's something to think about.
It isn't my intent to just copy the Ortalab effects. My original idea with this was that every sum card would have a variation of this effect, but with their respective ranks/suits. For example, The Duo's exotic would turn half of the cards held in hand to the first rank and the other half to the second. That being said, I think the extra effect of these Sum exotics should help to make up the difference for the spread out ^mult. Ideas would be apperciated.
I will note that the exception would be The Filler's exotic, which would turn every card held in hand into an exact copy of the high card

I like it, but I think it is a bit hard to parse. I think we need to make the mirror bigger and if we are sticking with that background give the halo some kind of outline.
Same with the O in Joker. I understand why you did it, it is to mimic the mirror, but it should of had a black outline instead of a whit one.
One last thing, the outline in the mirror is a bit too dark (yatta yatta balatro black yatta yatta). Not a requirement, but I would appreciate it if you could lighten it up a bit.

Based on conversations and research, my idea for the code card isn't going to work with how it would use stickers. While realistically I am probably going to have to change the effect, I think there is potentially a much cooler solution to be had here. What if we created a new object, which, for lack of a better name, I will just call "Dyna Stickers".
Dyna Stickers would be a combination of Stickers and Jokers in that each Dyna Sticker is considered its own object but can access the Joker it is "on top of" for its effect. They would have the specialization of being able to be created with specific info, so the same Dyna Sticker could serve multiple purposes. Here is an example. Let's say I wanted to make a sticker that gives mult equal to the round it was placed on. That info is specific to the moment it is placed and would need to change based on when that happened.
While I realize this might be beyond my capabilities, I think this kind of object type would allow for a new world of Joker design ideas. I might spend some time seeing how viable this idea could be.

idk if riff raff is really powerful or really weak
It's not powerful in the sense of giving you a huge amount of score (though all the chips and mult do already add up to a practically a free ante 8 win already), but it is really really good at doing a bit for everything else, having like 10 different options for money generation, extra hand size/discards, loads of tarot creating abilities, spawning lots of jokers (including goodd cryptid commons like pity prize and of course being hanging chad. I don't think it does one individual thing as good as any one exotic, but the sheer variety means it's gotta be somewhat viable

Fair question. Wanted to relase it in tandem with the first ascensio relase (refer to that announcment I made a bit ago). Given the distance between then and now, it might be better to open it up sooner. The main issue I have is I dont want to spend my time running and maintining a discord server. This fourum post has been working well enough so far, so I dont see the need as too pressing at the moment.

I would offer to assist with moderation and administration but my track record with moderation has been, uh, abysmal, to say the least
I think I recall someone already setting up channels, etc. for the potential server so I don't think administration really needs much assistance there
Thanks for your offer. Like you said, the server already exists thanks to the work of hssr, its just not open to the public. Moderation is the big hurdle so I would need to find trust worthy people who could keep it clean and have enough time on their hands to do so.

Also for riff raff, I think the best approach to know why effects are happening might be to display the name of the Joker who effects are happening at that moment. It might take a while to process hands though.

Buffed DNA's ascension to not destroy duplicate cards held in hand. There was an issue detecting edition, so what I decided to do until I can get a fix for it is set the edition of cards to the edition of the selected card's to that cards edition which have the same suit, rank, enhancment, and seal as that card. Its not the best fix, but it is better than being stuck with non editioned cards in my eye.

I think you are going about this the wrong way. Like Iterum, you need to have two return statements for this part of the effect. One for context.individual and one for context.repetition. Definitely recomend looking at Iterum's code.
