#A rant about this and that.

Also the last point (with the linen cloth crafting) is my mistake. However i have a new point to make-it is very unintuitive ๐
Uh, this one might take some time to digest! ๐
But we promise we'll get back to you after finishing it.
13k letters is ... insane. ๐
Can't say how much we appreciate this feedback.
You've pretty much nailed a lot of our internal roadmap for content, and you're pretty spot on for the priority aswell! ๐
Happy to help ๐
Currently our loot system is very much in its infancy, the plan is to have loot containers be more niche, and placed in appropriate environments, exactly as you suggested.
So medical stuff can be found in a lab, weapons in an armoury, etc.
Aight I just started reading this but as for loot.
There's certainly going to be more variety, but from the way you're talking, you seem to be interested in having so many different kinds of loot, it will give a noob decision paralysis. I'm all for more loot, but this isint terraria, nor do I want it to be.
As for loot spawns, as the devs mentioned, they're going to have the loot you find dependent on what rooms you loot so they're already working on that.
As for risk vs reward, they already have the wendigo and the ogre rooms have extra chests. And eventually that wendigo is going to be a ambush enemy (meaning it's not gonna hang out in a mini boss room, it's gonna jump ya from the shadows. Really, it's not that hard to fight once you get the hang of things) but otherwise I agree with the idea of bosses protecting chests with better loot RNG. But those things we have in the test are rabble compared to what they have in store, so manage your expectations.
Aight as for the starting items, I fail to see what people have against starting out with basic iron weapons?? Its the basic standard for medieval weaponry at this time, and it's not like they're OP or anything. You just hinted at struggling with wendigos so clearly they aren't game breaking.
With that being said, I do agree with the idea of having steel not be the cap of progression. However, instead of ass pulling fantasy materials out of our asses, what we could do is introduce rune etching for the endgame.
Would be less linear, and allow for more autistic personalization and customization we love to see here.
Also I LOVE the idea of adding puzzles and traps you have to fight your way out of!
As for item crafting and part stats: LAY OFF. This is a pre alpha, they JUST added crafting a couple weeks ago, the devs already mentioned that they're working on it, and so far I have no reason to believe they won't. Now I certainly won't defend them if this is what things looks like in a alpha, or god forbid, beta stage, but for now. Be patient.
Try to keep it civil with discussion guys, remember that not everyone has the same level of context of when things are done in development etc. ๐
As for mobs, I entirely agree with making them smarter, several people including myself have talked to the devs about it and I hope it's a high priority, and EY! A fellow Vermintide enjoyer!
As for weapons, my opinion on the individual weapon types differ. As it currently stands, shields and polearms are the meta. Considering how that's how they are IRL, I'm not too interested in changing that TOO much, but I definitely think medium 2H weapons need SOME sort of benefit over 1h weapons and polearms. As for different weapon types being good at different things, I agree, but I think straight swords should be better at single target damage (with high stab dmg, and fast swing speed combined with mediocre swing damage) and sabers and axes being used as hoard control (with sabers having an emphasis on speed, and axes having an emphasis on cleave)
As for light sources 100% agree, and they're already working on it. As for magical flashlights, there's a IRL replacement. Ever heard of bulls eye lanterns?
And I never even though of having candles on your helmet/armor, but I think that'd be SICK!
You can check out some of my prior suggestions on weapon parts, and materials so you can get a better idea on my views.
I certainly think they need work, and I agree with you on that regard, but obviously we have different ideas on them.
I love it!
And as for incentive to go deeper, I mentioned in a nother suggestion, having a group objective that is given to the party once you enter the dungeon with big XP, loot, and rep rewards.
Also having MUCH bigger inventory's would help people stay in the dungeon longer.
I don't know how realistic it would be, but having candles on your pauldrons Warhammer style would be badass!
Judgement-set did that right?
remember-its a dark fantasy. Realism is cool but its still a fantasy
We've had backpack lantern in our heads for quite a while aswell.
Looks great!!!
@maiden spire Dont worry i m Polish. Unless someone tells me directly to fuck off i wont get offended ๐
More than anything i m happy my feedback was helpfull and used
@marsh kayak just as dev said-I have no idea what was added when exacly. Got my gaming 1 day ago and all of my knowledge is based on my gameplay-which was intended as i wanted to give a real feedback what a newbie experience may be like.
These are some of "candle helmets" I saw in other fantasy games
So even if something may come off as offensive- it is indeed only with good intentions in mind
Fair
Also i m happy you agree on most parts with me. All of my "essay" let's call it is quickly written with just some points i deemed important. On the weekend i should have enough time to compile a more comprehensive guidline on suggestions and painpoints i noticed.
I'm pretty sure miner's candles were a thing back in the middle ages aswell.
Alsox2-when it comes to weapons i do believe we really need that diversity. Doesnt have to be exacly as i ve written-that was just an example on how usually different weapons types work in game like these. With an improved crafting system a good balance of weapon diversity will make for an INSANELY GOOD gaming experience. We are talking teams of 5 that just like in vermintide (my fellow good game enjoyer) will need to have different roles in said team. I cant wait to see the fully made system!!!
Alsox3 i will try REAL hard to break the game so expect a lot of bug reports ๐
And im pretty sure trolls and wendigos were not ๐ Still thematically should do great
Its a dark fantasy after all
Well there's a balance the devs are intending to strike between realism, and fantasy; it's hard to figure out where they want to draw the line sometimes.
