am really considering refunding the game this is the situation since yesterday
15 mins of waiting then stuck on this

When you encountering such symptoms in 95% of cases there is an Issue with your saves. We do see an issues that sometimes saves could get corrupted an it is more common when you play on several devices and use Steam Cloud to sync your saves between different machines. We do not know why this happens and currently investigating this. For now we recommend to disable Cloud Saves for Windrose while playing the game.
If your last session happened before Sunday the 19th and you now cannot load into the game, it is most likely that your save is corrupted and cannot be restored. But if you delete your save folder it should fix it for you.
HOW TO DELETE SAVES
Disable Steam Cloud saves.
Go to:
- C:\Users%username%\AppData\Local\R5\Saved\
- Delete SaveProfiles folder
On Sunday, April 19th we have released an update that backups your saves automatically every time the game or the server launches, so if you have played a session after Sunday 19th's update you have a save back up.
HOW TO RESTORE BACKUP FOR THE GAME CLIENT
Disable Steam Cloud saves.
Go to:
- C:\Users%username%\AppData\Local\R5\Saved\SaveProfiles%your_Steam_ID%_Backups
- Select the latest backup (or any preferred one). Backups are named by date and time.
- Copy all contents from this folder (it should contain one folder + AccountDescription.json).
- Navigate to: C:\Users%username%\AppData\Local\R5\Saved\SaveProfiles{your_Steam_ID}\RocksDB
- Paste the copied files there (replace existing files if prompted).

if yo udeleted your folder by accident they are still in your recycle bin

well that is not true, i maged to start up a save with a lvl 5 state

uninstalled the game deleted the files again and still suck on loading screen
the saveprofile folder is inside this Saved folder, try deleting it. uninstalling the game does not clear this folder

I just wanted to add that I also have this identical issue
I’ve been trying to fix this since Friday, my two friends got in without any issues
I’ve got 5hrs playtime in the loading screen xd
Same thing happens for me, approx 15mins loading into the missing character creation screen with only the quit button
same for a friend of mine, she has the exact issue. 15-30mins of load time then quit option or just endless loading. tried every fix posted. 2 hours of game time and all but the tutorial has been load screens.
I don't have a saved folder within the files?? How do I fix this?

Heres what I did, got it from another thread
- Uninstall the game (yes even if youve done it before)
- Go to the appdata local folder where R5 folder is and delete the entire "R5" folder
- Reinstall and try
My theory is that they fixed the issue with corrupted stuff with the update a few days ago, but because uninstalling/reinstalling doesnt change the R5 folder, youre just using the same corrupted sh you had from the beginning, even if you tried changing stuff within it or w/e, needs a complete fresh start
or atleast thats what I did and I got into character creation instantly, tested ingame etc seems all fine (besides crashing when I tab out xd, but thats another something else)
