I was just wondering if getting a server through a site such as gportal or nitrado would help with the lag issue i have when my friend(s) decide to pull out their Ketch and sail. Most of the time, I hardly lag at all when playing with them- it's only when the ketch and larger comes out from my friends that the game lags so much it's practically unplayable and then it just stays that way for the rest of the game. I figured maybe letting a site host for us might resolve this issue and take the strain off my pc, but I wanted to ask first before I spend money. If it -does- help with the issue, then I'd like to know the best site to go with that has the least amount of issues. Please and thank you.

Hey, please don't tag us if not necessary. I can't tell for sure if renting dedicated server will help with this, I'm sorry. Does this happen when you play solo? How many ppl are you playing with? What's your DxDiag? There's a lot of possible variables and I can't figure out any actionable conclusions from your description

sorry, didn't mean to upset you. It's fine when I play alone, there's only a small amount of latency that calms down if i sit and wait for a moment.. I usually only play with one other person- 2 at the max. as for DxDiag, I have no idea what that is, i'd have to look it up so i can check that for you.

@grand creek It sounds like the devs are all-hands-on-deck right now just trying to keep the game afloat during its first weekend. A lot of people's servers aren't working at all. Everything's on fire right now. Just give them time, I'm sure the devs will help you when they can.

I'm not mad or upset, maybe just a smidge impatient but that's only because I fell in love with the demo and got it immediately when it came out. I'll go ahead and get a server, can't hurt anything.

DxDiag is basically your PC specs in .txt format
I'd suggest waiting for the upcoming patch next day that should improve lots of connectivity issues and then re-testing with your friends again. If that solves your issues, then it's presumably safe to rent a server, if not – well, come back and let's investigate that

just wanted to inform you, i got a gportal server and i no longer lag when others summon their boats, sail, and battle on the sea. i even had 3 friends on!! its seems letting a host server take some of the stress off my pc worked for me. i had absolutely no issues with anyone joining either.
