Yes, exactly. You should be generally OK if you backup your current saves somewhere. But I cannot guarantee or promise that everything will be fine at all, sorry 🙁
Essentially, this test shoudn't affect your gameplay experience, it's mostly technical. But if for some reason some strange crash happens, I cannot promise the saves would be fine 🙁

I’ve got a question for the devs. Are you compensating the players who will be testing for bugs? Do they get exclusive skins or name on the credits?
We do not currently offer rewards for participating in this test. However, that may change in the future, as we plan to expand our early playtest preview program. We also greatly appreciate everyone who helps us test and improve Windrose 🫡

What is the objective? Just playing on a fresh save with steam cloud saves on? (on the public test version)

Oooooo, after yelling at steam to finally wipe my cloud save and use an actual local save it looks like it's working so far, loading into a PC world now
we need to be able to do custom signs, like be able to type want we want for easier supply management in chests etc
and a name of the dead person above their dead supplies, make it easier for in coop to know whos is whos
It's definitely on the list of feedback. This is just for testing their cloud save stuff atm

had some lag spikes right now, first in game, but so far the saves are good

I switched to the beta branch, created a new character and a new map. I re-entered the game a couple of times, saving it to Steam Cloud each time. So far, no issues.
im sure its been said a ton already but they should add storage transfer from your ship to a chest or something along those lines in a future update

the rapier is not as good as the rapier of destruction.. i have them both at 15 and the rapier of distruction is so much better.

Why did the Wolves head get changed? It looks more like a Coyote than a Wolf now. I liked the previous version much better.

Definitely hate the loot bags situation if both die your friend ends up with yours or vise versa
Death markers need to be only available by character only its not pvp so no one should be able to take your loot anyway

Can we please add a feature to customise the ship's interior, maybe just 3 different style options to start off and the ability to customise the captain's cabin, adding bedding with a respawn point on your ship that would be amazing 😍

It would be awesome if there was more to the reputation feature, like maybe once you build enough reputation with one of the factions it unlocks a jobs feature where you can do supply runs and raid on other ships.
And I hope they do more with the crew of the ships cause right now they are just generic and useless!
Like let us take them ashore to fight with you and when they die they just go back to the ship!

Well, just enable Friendy Fire. And then everyone who wants PvP can open up a new Server, take all his Friends and they can sink themselves to their hearts content.
As long as i can play alone or with my Friends still in co-op without forced PvP....
This is not an MMO. I can just play alone or with Friends. If anyone wants to PvP... let them play on their own server with their friends.

We have our own dedicated and thats what we would do open it to public and people could pvp with us if they want we need the ability to have benches on ships also and the firepower should not be unlimited makes ship fights way to easy
The need for sharks and sea creatures in the water is a must
I guess this public test chat has become an impromptu feedback channel
I think i would be cool if instead of your ship being completely destroyed in battle, instead once your health reaches like 10% you become disabled and the enemy will try to board and raid you. This way if you manage to defend the boarding and win your ship gets like 30% health to keep fighting! I would love defending my ship this way!

And maybe different factions have different preferences in battle like one faction might completely sink your ship for fun or another will board early and another likes to ram your ship over and over to add variety and make the player be aware of what waters they’re in
Yes! That's another thing missing from the game, so far I've only ever seen smuggler boats and blackbeard boats in game! We need to see more buccaneer and brethren boats!
Has any of these posts actually anything todo with the test server and feedback of which to the devs or is this just a santas wishlist of what people want in the game and really belong in a different thread as I dont see anything I can relate to being about the test server personally lol 🤔🤫
I don't see how this is not relevant when we are leaving feedback for the beta test, this information is what they should be looking at to add more to the game.

But this is not the ea/beta side in this thread its the test server that's seperate and for ironing out bugs and issues that already exist not adding more content to the main game there's threads more designed for that is what im saying. If every threads gonna get the same posts of what people wished for in the game what's the point in have categories separating various topics and so forth
public test is about bugs and game issues. Nice to have things should he submitted via in game feedback. The more junk in these channels the less the devs can focus on fixing issues.

people please remember this test is not for submitting things you want to see or are missing. What you are supposed to focus on is explained in #│public-test-instructions. Any other kind of feedback, please submit that via the button in the main menu or the website.
a list of backups attached to your save file in the games ui/menu so you can select older saves from the same character, (not sure if doable or if im rambling nonsense with this one but >removing the check for save file on launch of game to prevent corrupt save file causing hang/ menu to not load at all, possibly giving you the ability to access these backups from the games menu/ ui if paired with above)

yea, i had fouund the instrucitons to do this, but unfortuantly i didnt follow the step to turn on steam cloud synch and it erased my character progress all the way back to level 5 (around april 20th) so i had to start over again form there. Im just settign my solo game settings to 50% enemy helath and ships so i can level back up to level 10 where I was at. sucks, but hey thats early access. Anyways, looks like the devs are on top of it and released a ptacth to fix the save file and infinite loading screen and character save issues.....got to love these devs!
(edited) Is it possible to remove the save backup limit for backups less than 7 days old, and make it that each instance generates 2 backups (one perminant backup every hour or 2 and a seperate backup that refreshes every 10 min with gameplay ending when closing the game)
is it also possible to attach the date to the backup file name somehow making it easier to find which is which 🙂 (possibly even just creating a txt file in each backup folder that is either named the date or has the date and time in it)
The backups are dated/timestamped Year/Month/day-Hour/Minutes/seconds
Sooooo, the new issue lately with loading my character save file is that it will come up on the main menu where i can select my character, but as soon as i try to load into my "current" world, it does the infinite loading/freeze screen. I have been backing up my save files also just in case. What i have found to solve the issue (at least keep it form freezing when i try to load into my current world, is to first load my current character into a new starter world first (that i made and one thats right after you get through the intro) and then log out and relog into my current world. So far, as long as i load into my starter world first and then load into my current world, it hasn't froze on me (infinite loading scree). Its really weird that I have to do this, but it seems to be working. Anyone else having same issue? Any ideas why my current world wont load first time? Sometimes I curse myself and all the sea devils, arrg, that I love this game so much that I will find ways around major bugs in the game to just get it to load properly lol....

Gotta make sure the R5/Saved dirs are mounted in + have perms
