It should not sink if you weaken it enough to get the boarding option. It will only sink after you kill the required number of pirates and pull away from the ship.

Not sure what you are doing, but the ship should not sink with you on it.

Ok, so I'm having a very strange "bloom" effect randomly showing up at the top of my large forge, it's random, doesn't happen all the time, and it goes away if I leave render distance. It does happen BOTH in Vanilla with 0 mods, and with using mods, so knowing it is happening in vanilla with no mods, I can rule out a mod causing it. Does anyone have any ideas as to what may be causing this issue. See the below screenshot for a more detailed view of what I am seeing.

Any tips for boarding ships and fighting? I have died a few times because I get overwhelmed. I'm only level 5, almost level 6. it's just a shame that loaded gun ammo is shared too, which is weird because that was a genuine tactic way back when to load multiple guns and fire them all one after the other.

The whole idea of flintlocks/pistols is to be used in conjunction of melee weapons. Preferably a Cutlass for example. Otherwise if you're going for dedicated gunman. You will end up going for active reload perks.

Since you can drop a cannon bought on the reputation merchants and a friend picks it up to get the blueprint, is that doable with the brig too?

If you get it early on, you can beat the entire Biome 1 and 2 with just 1 food buff and takes around 3 talent points to go online (2 into more temporal health, 1 into better THP conversion).

Are you driving into the middle of their entire fleet? Try going from the side. The enemies cannot shoot through their own ship. Then don't sink all the ships. Keep 1 or 2 disabled at all times. Why? So you can board them for a free pause.

Double devastation is a braindead build purely because ascended devastation gives you higher DPS with no requirements. But if you're good at managing position, then Dev + PO is the way to go because Dev is bugged. The tooltip says if you hit at least 50% of your shot, you apply 1 rake. However, if you hit 100% of your shot you actually apply 2 rake. So if you hit something with your front cannon (which you ALWAYS want to do to start a battle), you start it off with 2 rake. Then they get to your side, 1 volley with the dev will give you a full 3 rake stack, and just start spamming your PO.

Again, this is assuming the Dev cannons DO NOT get patched out. I assume this is not intended since the tooltip says hit more than 50% volley to apply rake, but I tested this pretty extensively, it works on EVERY cannon (Your front, top deck or bottom deck cannons). Hitting a full volley with ANY of them applies 2 stack (50% for each stack) rather than +1 stack for hitting more than 50%. Making it VERY VERY stupid because of how fast you can stack damage.

Also this strat assumes you're going to SINK THEM BEFORE THEY DO ANYTHING. At higher difficulty, you want to JUST SINK THEM, because breaking sails do not disable cannons and THEIR CANNONS FREAKING HURT. That and also there's some jank with ship spawns. Not sure if this is an endgame zone issue, but when you get to lv15 sea zones, patrol spawns like nobody's business. You'll see a convoy (2 frigate + 3 brigs) you want to raid, you engage them, and all of a sudden, 2 other patrols (1 frigate + 2 brigs each) spawn nearby pathing towards you and you're now fighting 1v8 ~ 1v12.

Yes, but again, in higher diff (even in normal diff), tempered is a pain to work with, unless you're specifically using brethren ships, because after every shot, you'll need to sit there and just WAIT to get the buff up. So you get one good shot off to oneshot something, and then what? Now you sit there and wait for 6 seconds while the rest of the 10 ships are just blasting at you 😂 Also it doesn't play very well with other cannons.

I'm not saying Tempered is bad by any means, it has the craziest numbers for sure. But again, the point is not HOW TO USE TEMPERED, I KNOW how to use tempered. I ran all 3 guns on all 3 ship variants on hardest diff just to test them all out. The problem is there are better alternatives that just gives you a lot better options and better uptimes.

The "Kite them" point just doesn't work because kiting and aiming is just something you should be doing by default (especially in hard diff). Run PO? You still need to kite them for the Reload + 4s wait. Run Dev? You'd STILL need to kite them for the reload time. Tempered? Same thing, you STILL need to kite them.

The only diff is, PO has a buff that decreases the reload once you start getting it rolling, so you're effectively cutting down the downtime. Dev's only downtime is reload speed. Whereas Tempered is the full reload time + an additional 6s, which is +50% of the downtime lol.

I recommended this build and avoid tempered to original dude because the whole point of the build is to destroy ships ASAP without getting hit. REGARDLESS of how well you kite, have an additional 6s downtime increases your chance of taking more damage. This kiting point is also, again, moot, because if you can kite that well, you might as well run the other cannons and just keep firing and sinking them.

Again, the original dude that was asking about cannons was having problem soloing. This build was not proposed with MP in mind. If you're doing MP, ONE person runs Devastating, EVERYONE ELSE runs anything else. You'll get crazy numbers and your teammates will be oneshotting everything.

Rake debuff makes the enemy take +10% per stack, up to 3 stack. So if you just hit 1 full volley with devastating, that's 2 stacks of Rake (I believe this is bugged, it should only apply 1 stack, but oh well), so that's +20% damage taken already. From that point onwards, the +20% bonus damage from tempered is useless (Again, disclaimer this does not include MP).

No, the original dude was having trouble with the Brethren quest, even though he has a maxed out frigate. So I said run Dev x2 or Dev+Po. Then position yourself OUTSIDE of the encirclement. That way you can spam fire and they CANNOT hit you because their own ships block the cannons. Effectively making a 1v12 into a 1v1.

No, it doesn't say half of the cannon hit gives you one rake. It says apply one rake if you hit MORE than 50%. So that implies it should only give 1 rake if you hit at least 50% of your shots.

If one volley (full hit) applies 2 rakes, that means at baseline, you start off every fight with +20% damage debuff. Which, you can see why I think it's a bug. +20% to start a fight is crazy, if you compared that to what others have to do to get their buff (4s window to hit, wait 6s before you shoot).

It depends on the level of your guns. IIRC it scales similar to your weapon damage. If you're using a level 14 gun to hit a level 15 ship, you're doing lesser damage. So ideally, you want to leve all your ship parts to 15 (Which is how Martok is oneshotting ships at level 10, because your char level doesn't seem to impact your ship damage)

So I would say you'll also need to see what BPs you already have before you buy any BPs from them so you can actually complete your sets.

What last 2 items? The boss doesn't unlock any discoveries IIRC. They just unlock the tier of that discovery. Example, Tar is in Tier 3 discovery, so you need to defeat Tier 2 boss first before you can make any T3 discoveries. So if you got tar BEFORE you kill the T2 boss, you still won't be able to make Tarred Planks.

What I do is find stuff enemies cannot get on top of. You can build your way entirely out of everything

Correct. If that was the same for hardwood, it wouldn't be so bad cause you could just plant like 30 trees to get 1 stack as you don't need it nearly as much as the regular wood

Now that I found the various weapons I have, I can craft them now. The ones you find though are different and usually better then one you could craft as the crafted ones start at level 1 vs what you might find

Oh yeah, I found the 1000 cuts very early on too. Though I got the Halberd and started using that mainly because more damage. Before that I was using the regular longsword

1000 cuts is good, but imo the DPS isn't amazing

After I then got better guns, I just switched to them...funny enough I don't even use the pistol much if at all after getting the good blunderbuss and the reliable musket

No, they just grow as normal. Lime trees, Banana trees, Ficus and shrubs. They also DON'T cause the plague sickness debuff to stop either. Sadly.

The downside is, if your character goes to a new world, now they have no rep in that new world.

did you use lock on? and try to perfect block/parry him him , dodge his red attack ,with lock on its pretty easy , set it on spacebar if you're using keyboard, treat it like souls boss and its pretty easy , dont try to shoot him , he will dodge it, only shoot when he is stunned by perfect block

honestly friend, the fight just takes a bit of practice. it took me a few shots before i was able to beat him. once you get a feel for the rhythm of the fight, it gets a lot easier. my biggest advice is stay moving, don't get greedy with your hits, and bring lots of potions and food buffs

If you did not beat the first boss you won't be able to build the brig either. I wanted to do the same and even if I managed to gather the raw materials from the 2nd biome I could not refine them to build the brig.

Your best option is to get someone to join your world and give you the materials for the ship.

Or that. Tbf the boss fights are not that bad (the first two), you just need gear with good level and dodge their attacks. Might take a bit of time to down them, but it's not hard.
I killed the first two bosses on the first try with lvl 5 and lvl 10 gear which is the max I could upgrade with their respective biome materials.

i've found the bosses aren't bad at all if you run a decent build for the purposes of fighting them. myself, im running around in "tank" gear and a halberd. the experience is very forgiving when i can survive to get slapped around.

I just run the same build for everything 😆 too lazy to make multiple builds and constantly changing it.
Also, I just wish we could swap looks of hats. Cause I use the Flibuster hat for 4 set but I like more how the Tracker one looks like

Already finished the game; this is my second playthrough, this time on hard.
Speccing into vitality is a no-win. Best armor and weapons and with high ping you can neither block, parry, dodge or effectively attack. First boss grabs you and it’s automatic death.
