the was just fixing my settings by joining another world i have
the patch reset video settings, my best guess is my base is a bit heavy? i don't know really, i'm very confused, all i did was load another empty save i had, did my video settings, left, joined my original world that i host with friends, and it fully loaded in.
it's strange sometimes, I've seen where after the guide you have to try loading in a couple times, and it magically works, My best guess is the import to the new RocksDB_v2 hangs or needs to run again

thats the thing, i was about to follow the guide and adjust a little for what i needed and did what i did as just a little experiment before i start, and it worked, but geniuenly thank you for taking the time and helping me out, i appreciate the help!

well, it seems the problem extend past even being able to load in, seems like the game decides to freeze and hit me with the application has hung, hopefully a new patch comes along addressing these issues, seems a fair bit of people are hit with these issues.

My friend is running into this problem. We updated all his drivers, windows update, steam and game updates to no avail. We tried "forcing" it to Directx11, but that didn't work.

What is your GPU model? If it's a laptop, try forcing the game to always use the high-performance GPU in the system control panel.

OK, so just turned Steam cloud saves back on. I am getting the special window that says I've got a bad save, yet it looks like the most recent one. The game is working fine saving locally. Is there a way for me to check that I'm not deleting all my progress?

I followed the same instructions and got the same problem as <3GOAT<3 I have the exact IslandID in the JSON file and it still changes it once I fire up the server. I have tried it on 2 devices with 2 different IslandID sets.
So I rented a server from Nitrado and loaded in the world but got into a blank world that I've never been to before, with almost nothing revealed on the map. When I try to click host/join my own world, it kicks me back to the main menu without me being able to load in my world. whats going on?
Would Tech support be a good place to trouble shoot Ram issues and SSD Issues? When I first started my Ram memory was taken up to about 2.5KMB now it reads as high as 7-9K after only a few days, and the game over heats the Computer and hard crashes it to shutdown. What is going on? It feels like the Ram requirements scare upwards the longer you play and out of my systems specs in no time. I only get a half hour of play before the hard crash occurs
A game does not overheat your PC, a lack of sufficient cooling does.
Like on my 6900XT the hotspot now gets to 102°C because i'm too lazy to disassemble this old thing and repaste it.
Ok, I followed the Pinned guide to get my local save game running on my dedicated server and it is loading a... version of the correct world, but it is quite outdated, basically missing the entirity of the changes we made around our base in the last play session. But, when I load the same world locally it is fine. (I didn't copy from the RocksDB_V2_Backups folder, and I did copy both RocksDB and RocksDB_V2)

Hi I've been playing for a couple weeks now and my son has come to my server but I never went to anyone's server until tonight. I saw a server open for invites and decided to check out playing on someone's server. I logged into that server and the game worked just fine. I played there for about two hours. I then decided to go back and play my single player. Now I can not play my single player game. All it does is hang on the loading screen. Also if I host my game it takes a long time to load and then crashes to the main menu. I even tried to load into my son's hosted map and it just crashed both of us to the main menu. His game seems fine as he was able to load back into his game. Mine just kept doing the same thing, freezing up or crashing to the main menu.
I then made a new character and loaded into my main map save and that character loaded in just fine. I then made a new map and the new character loaded in just fine. I then tried my main character and again same thing it just froze or crashed to the main menu.
I reloaded the game, reloaded my computer, checked for any updates, did a verify files on steam (All 560 files successfully validated),
Any idea how to fix this and not lose my progress or items or my new ship?

@cosmic coral Do you know what specific Intel card it is? If you hit Windows + R and type 'dxdiag' and hit enter, it'll open a screen that will give you the info.
@mental scaffold i installed 1 mod for more ship inv space and thats when all this started happening i have allready deleted that mod and have done all the fixes that i have been by google research

@next harness Hmm, I don't know enough about how mods for this game work so I don't know if the Inventory space mod could have done something to your save that would cause lag to persist after the mod was removed.

Probably because the save got corrupted. You can try zo upload just the most recent files and see If the server accepts them.
@lime topaz In the RocksDB folder, the most recently modified file is 5/4/2026, in the RocksDB_v2 they are all from the last time I loaded the save on 5/7/2026 like 15 minutes ago.. But if I don't include the RocksDB folder then the server won't load the save at all and instead creates a new fresh world.
The question of "why" was answered hours ago by me telling you that your PC is below minimum requirements.
The dxdiag is really just so you have the most precise clue about which exact DX component it is caused by.

Everyone freaking out about a “broken game” needs to understand what an Early Access game is, nothing is guaranteed when it clearly states its early access, if ur not technical enough to troubleshoot things that go wrong or have patience..please don’t buy early access games

Have you tried any troubleshooting steps such as capping the framerate, not using FG, etc. ?
Yea, I've tried several things and I can't get the server to load with the latest save state. I'm not sure what to try next.

Is your entire system crashing, or does the game screen just stay black until you close it?
This could be caused by mods. Many broke after the last update. Also, some mods leave leftover files, and the game will try to load them even if you disable the mod. It's easier and more reliable to clean up the game folder and re-download it.
One of your logs mentions a GPU crash. If this log is from the desktop client, it's best if you upgrade your GPU drivers. If it's already on the latest version, downgrade it to a Pro/Studio version. They tend to be more reliable.

I copied all content of my "SaveProfiles" Folder of my dedicated server to a new one. the local one is running in p2p mode and the remote one with direct connection.
When i connect with the game it is loading forever. same save game works on the local one. i dont know if i can get upnp working on oracle network, for that reason i am running in direct mode.
Any idea what the root cause could be?

Some settings may have reset.
Direct IP mode requires forwarding port 7777 (tcp+udp) to the virtual machine instance. This is usually done via the provider control panel. Then, you should check if the port is allowed in the OS firewall.
Invite code mode UseDirectConnection: false doesn't use UPnP or require explicit port forwarding. It should work out of the box on most networks.
If it still doesn't work in both modes, try this, one step at a time:
- For Docker, set
network_mode: hostfor the container. - Configure
P2pProxyAddresswith an IP address visible by the game server. Use the internal container IP if you are mapping each port via Docker "ports" setting; server main network adapter IP otherwise (network_mode=host or a non-Docker install).
You can also start the server fresh to rule out world/database issues, then copy your current world there (and configure WorldIslandId accordingly) after you fix the connection issue.
Yep. it is not a server network issue. When i let the server create a new world. everything works flawlessly and i can connect and play. and thats working on an ARM Server with Linux 😄
But if i copy my save game to the rocksdbv2 and rocksdbv2_backup folder the server starts crashing. when i remove the new savegame it loads my old savegame but on connection nothing happens how i showed you in the log.
i saved the R5 log for all 3 setups. only new save game, only old save game, both in place.
should i provide it to you?

The fact that you are running on an ARM64 Linux machine doesn't help since the server is meant for Windows x86_64, but it's a good sign that it works with a fresh world.
Do a clean copy (remove everything under R5/Saved/SaveProfiles/Default/ beforehand) of the whole RocksDB_v2 folder to the new server.
Do not change the files inside RocksDB_v2/0.10.0/Worlds/<WorldID>/ directly. They are tied to the WorldID in the directory structure. You must change WorldIslandId in ServerDescription.json to match your <WorldID> if you are swapping worlds between machines.
these are the steps i did by myself and are not working. looks like some wine or FEX issue :/
I might try that later, but I'm not confident it's worth the time since the last time I tried to run a game server there, it performed really badly due to the emulation (it was box64 at the time)+ Ampere CPU that isn't that performant.

If you installed any mods, remove all server folders but
R5/Saved/(where your world is stored) and reinstall the server. -
Check
P2pProxyAddress. I also got these counterintuitive "data inconsistent" messages when I set this field incorrectly. Try 0.0.0.0 first, then try using the primary network adapter address. -
Try with a fresh database. Move your data out of
R5/Saved/SaveProfiles/Default, leaving it empty and test.

Never heard about that. Make sure you aren't using any mods, then try removing the cannon and putting it back in the ship slot.

But put the rockDB_V2 world still didn't load the last save

I was having huge frame drops so i just edited the Engine.ini file and turned off all the stuff I think is unnecessary for smooth gameplay. I now have zero frame drops, smooth FPS. No downlaods or intalls, just a text file edit.
I am personally still running the November '24 nVidia drivers on my main gaming pc
7800x3D / 64GB DDR5 / 4090 / NvME's
Mainly because every driver since the release of the 5000 series has been pure trash, and because every single game I play including all new AAA title releases have been just fine with the stable November '24 drivers. At max settings and capped 120+ FPS. YMMV
With this title most if not all settings can be set to mediums with close to zero fidelity loss.

I'm catching up from yesterday, I'll read through and respond to any that look to be unanswered still/needing help, if I can.
It's Unreal Engine so all previous optimizations from the past decade still apply to some degree. I copied my old Ark:SE settings and ini files, threw them into windrose, bish bash bosh, job done.
studio drivers are more stable as well
Quest turn ins crashing server. Unsure of the causes. But for one main quest where you get the tablets, if i turn in to John, it immediately crashes the entire server and requires a restart of it, i have to replace the game files with an older version. So, i've lost a few hours of items/quests, as this has happened 5x total. I tried deleting the campfire, to dismiss the npc's and then resummon John, and it had no effect, still crashed. I'm now running into the same problem with a different quest, the smugglers lvl 3 turn in, last step. I'd given up on the main quest until something changes, but didn't expect the other quest to also present the same problem.
TLDR - quest turn ins, not all but some, are causing an entire server crash and the files are corrupted, which requires a former save file to work again. My steam sync has been off during these events.

yeah Im trying to edit a server I bought and it keeps creating a new world id instead of using the 1st created one. just reverts back to Normal (High Seas) every time.
Google a tool called DDU, it will completely uninstall your graphics drivers, before running it make sure you have downloaded the latest Nvidia drivers, run the DDU tool, when it has wiped your current drivers, restart you computer, the install the new driver you downloaded, I'd recommend restarting the PC again but it's not 100% necessary.

Just some info for the devs. I am hosting a server on a Windows VM, the VM never crashed but windrose did at some point, the backup must not have been working because we lost a days worth of progress on the server (not player progress though). And every time I start a new server it creates a new one in the background.
Right, so you can setup a Pagfile on your system which your computer will use as RAM but on your harddisk. I have one set to 16gb because I only have 16gb physically installed on my motherboard, so I use my SSD as extra RAM to prevent crashes and make games run smoother

You can also make changes to the games .ini settings, but this will drastically affect the way the game appears, but will also boost FPS

The backups only kick when the server starts or shuts down (I never remember which) f your server was running non-stop for days, then you have days of missing backups.

Did the devs ever fix the damage issues with weapons between the different "C,B,A,S tiers"? @P4wnyhof did a great video on this about 10 days ago... the math for damage to skill to weapon type is flawed badly
from what I understand, I could be wrong, it's not broken. The damage is based on the weapon level, not the tier, and the tier will be used as some kinda different system. Yes I saw the video, but I didn't see it as, IMO, "Conclusive"

The shown math/tests nearly prove there is no point to tiers which makes finding gear almost null... my char is broken basically or now we have to do math/testing of abilities to = power and dps ehhh that just kills the game
The one thing that does change between tiers is the abilities on weapons, added and stronger abilities the higher the tier, I believe this is the point of tiers.

hopfully this is corrected combat is argubly a PITA in this game anyways... the random hits while being 2 steps back is fustrating enough lol but building in the game TOP TIER haha

You can easily see and test your damage and it's increase in value as you level your weapons.
Damage increase doesn't have to be in two places because we expect it to.

I was plaing a Solo / Offline game on my own a few days ago. A bunch of updates have dropped since, and now I can't load my old save files. Just not appearing when I launch the game at all. I can still see my old saves at \AppData\Local\R5\Saved\SaveProfiles though. I read some stuff about the save system being overhauled to prevent SDDs from getting grilled, I'm guessing it's related to that? Can I manually migrate my saves or something?
It happened between yesterday and today, and I lost all the progress I had yesterday.

Turn off Steam cloud saves for your game, in steam
Using file explorer:
In side the folders located in:
%localappdata%\R5\Saved\SaveProfiles\YourSTEAMid\
One of them is a backup folder.
RocksDB_v2_Backups
in this folder you will find backups of your Player and Accounts folders
you can copy the contents of these folders and replace the same folders in:
RocksDB\0.10.0\ AND RocksDB_v2\0.10.0\ from your Steam ID folder (up one level)
I highly recommend backing up the contents of these two folders first
If this does not solve the issue there is another backup location we can try pulling from.
I’ll reply tomorrow whether it worked, because I can’t check it right now.

(New information has been brought to my attention the save state maybe prioritizing the backup folder, and it would not hurt anything to include these in the process. I believe this was discovered by @digital drift and his team at Bisect)

If you are having hang-ups / crashing / GPU crashes / DX12 Crashing / or any other kind of system crashing while in game
IT IS ON YOU TO DO BASIC TROUBLESHOOTING, OR AT THE LEAST PROVIDE LOGS AT THE TIME OF CRASH -
If you are using mods, you are fully taking on the risk of it completely bricking your game and save files. This happens even in fully released games. It could happen from one mod, having multiple mods, or just two mods together that break the game and your saves. If you're not taking precautionary backups, it's on you, esp in a work in progress title.

Then using the backup folders between the ones in that same directory and the ones inside the STEAMid folder under RocksDB_v2_Backups begin replacing the files in RocksDB\0.10.0\ AND RocksDB_v2\0.10.0\ with the folders from your backups. not the Worlds folder at least not yet until you can load in and verify if the world state / Map reveal is correct.

I think that they need to update the respawn rate of some of the resouces or make it so you can buy them with your markets. I think that would help some of theuse of needing mods or cheats to get more resources. Make things more available to get to level up so you do not have to wait forever to get them or find them,

I know you have a wonderful PC, but specifically in this game, fidelity does not really improve beyond Medium settings. (but i have big manly computer i run max settings) I know... I have a 4090, and hitting Medium feels bad too, however 200+ FPS feels better.

Currently trying to move a local save to a dedicated server on another PC. The windrose server keeps rewriting the ServerDescription.json and won't take the edit I make directing it to the correct world folder. I've stopped the server before editing everytime and nothing is helping.

Question about server hosting. I have the indifferentbroccoli docker container set up and working great but I want to change the Coop.StatsCorrectionModifier to 0.3. I shut down the server. Make the change and start it back up. It reverts back to the default everytime. Any ideas?

I don't have a "RocksDB" on the G-Portal server files I have RocksDB_v2 only not "RocksDB".....
you can first try with just the RocksDB_v2 import, if the world state is incorrect, you will need to restart the process, (basically remove the files you imported to the server, Create the RocksDB folder, and import both locations).
It's worth taking a note from today's post, bringing in the RocksDB_v2_Backups folder is also advised.

that I can't tell you, I've not had experience with Hosting providers other than hosting my my own data center. You may need to use a file transfer client such as FTP / SSH.
Perhaps someone familiar with G-Portal hosting or similar can help you with file transfer.

you will set the json to direct connect, you won't need to open ports in your firewall (yet) as we're just testing connection locally to the LAN ip of the host. (you will need to specify port 777 in game when connecting)

I'm trying to test this it may be an issue with the proxy server used to host the invite code system.
(I've also found sometime it takes a little bit of time for your dedicated server to propagate on those proxy servers)

Hi! I know next to nothing about IT, and English isn't my language, so I'm using a translator. Here's my situation: I host a server in the game. It's not a dedicated one. We share the same ISP. My friend can't connect to my server as "Character 1." She's kicked out of the game's main menu. She creates her own server, and I can't access it anymore. She deletes the character and files from the RocksDB folder and still can't log in. She creates a new "Character 2." Same thing. My question: is this on my end or hers? What should I do to fix this? I apologize in advance, I honestly tried to read about similar cases and couldn't find a solution.

Is there a way to roll back a character I have a g force server and I cut on windrose plus and up the xp but the backpacks are bugged when I cut it off the sever detects that my level is to high so boots me
It's a bit complex since you have to remove the current driver and disable driver downloads from Windows Update.
DDU can do this. Then, download the driver version you want from nvidia.com and install it without the Nvidia App.

No, it's just that I'm from Russia, and our ISPs block us globally. So if my ISP had blocked me, my other friends wouldn't have been able to log in either, but they did!

ok,.. my first suggestion would be setting up Direct IP and testing that, because the invite code relies on proxy servers hosted by the dev, and they have proven from time to time to be finiky, or just down.
However,.. Direct IP may not work because of your ISP...

no need to feel bad, there are guides in the FAQ provided by KrakenExpress. I'd start there, it's pretty straight forward, you just need to edit the ServerDescription.json located in your steam game directory
\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Windrose\R5
and set the "UseDirectConnection": to true
You will also need to add port forwarding in your gateway for ports 7777 and 7778 to your computers local IP on your LAN from your router.
You will then have to provide your External IP (your gateway), to your friends, and they will use that IP under Direct Connect in game, with port 7777 as well as what ever password you set in the json file. (and yes set a password)
When you turn this on, invite codes will no longer work, it is one or the other. If you want to revert back to invite codes, you have to edit your json back
This is the basics of setting it up.

chances are, you will have corrupted character saves because you used a highly unstable mod. you will likely have to dig through backups until you find one that works.
Just on a side note, I know that particular mod really only works with new characters, like you have to start with a new character.
You may not be able to just turn it off on a leveled character it was used on. So I can't even promise a backup profile will "work"

Hi, I posted this last night but I never got any reply what so ever so I'm a post it again.
Hi I've been playing for a couple weeks now and my son has come to my hosted singleplayer but I never went to his hosted singleplayer or anyone's server until tonight. I saw a server open for invites and decided to check out playing on someone's server. I logged into that server and the game worked just fine. I played there for about two hours. I then decided to go back and play my single player. Now I can not play my single player game. All it does is hang on the loading screen. Also if I host my game it takes a long time to load and then crashes to the main menu. I even tried to load into my son's hosted map and it just crashed both of us to the main menu. His game seems fine as he was able to load back into his game. Mine just kept doing the same thing, freezing up or crashing to the main menu.
I then made a new character and loaded into my main map save and that character loaded in just fine. I then made a new map and the new character loaded in just fine. I then tried my main character and again same thing it just froze or crashed to the main menu.

for future reference, I HIGHLY recommend NOT using any mod that rely on UE4SS as a dependency. They are simply NOT ready yet, and almost 100% of the time cause server stability issues and data loss

All I know is that my son and I, with me hosting my singleplayer game for him to join, played together since EA release. Last night I decided to check out a nitrado server I found and played for about 2 hours that server. Then when I tried going back to my own single player, it just wont load. It freezes and/or crashes. I can't even join my sons single player or join a new map I make.

where are you running the server? is it the same machine? is it it's own dedicated server on it's own machine? Are you using the Steam Dedicated server?

Yes, this is the specs for the machine it's running on. It's a desktop PC. Yes to Steam dedicated server. Verified all files and did a reinstall without my save file to test and it still crashed in the same way

So I am attempted to upload my coop world into the Nitrado server. I am using WinSCP, however I managed to upload the correct world and the stuff. But it keeps using a very very old save file. I have attempted to remove everything from the winscp folder and recopy everything but it keeps doing the same thing. Can I have any tips on how can I upload the most recent save?

I can't play the game anymore. I've got 63 hours on it and have been playing for hours on end... but then suddenly I've started crashing lately. I can run the game for a few minute intervals and then it crashes. Today, it's gotten even worse. Once I join the dedicated server I usually play on, it instantly crashes to desktop. I thought it was my computer but playing another game doesn't have this issue.
The crash you experienced "may" have corrupted your world files. You may want to begin teh process of restoring a backup
Be warned, if you are not running your own backups you will likely experience progress loss, as the auto backups until the patch 5/4 only ran at server shut down/start (I never remember which)
your next question is going to likely be, how do I restore a back up, not to be rude I'm going to ask you to use the search in this discussion, I've writen it up so many times... I jsut really don't wanna do it again if I don't have to.. lol

It's not giving a sepcific reason for the crash other than the RenderThread is timing out. I would possibly start by Cleaning the GPU drivers, and installing fresh, maybe even rolling back the GPU driver to a previous version.
crazy thing is it's crashing the crash report client too... which would give us more info..
it might even be worth while to back up the saved folders and reinstall the game.
i can run DDU and go from there, its just so odd that it just randomly started doing this

I'm done with trying to get docker builds to work. I have no problem starting the server using wine64 on ubuntu except the configured ports do not open for direct connect on my household LAN. Does anyone have this dead simple configuration working?

I think you're overthinking it... server needs to know its own IP because the local loopback in there by default confuses it when the connection is within the same network (outside ones work fine without the change, it's only local that break)
if you really want to use direct connect, you'll want to open up the ports on your server firewall (UFW is great for that on ubuntu, can give you the commands in a sec) and port forward on your router

So my dedicated server was running from 5/3 until today and a new launching was accidentally kicked off. Everything from 5/5 apparently wasn't persisted to files and was completely lost when the launch today performed the conversion. I can't see any files in my world saves that were written to on 5/5, so was the entire progress of the server just in memory for the past 4 days? What could have happened here to lose all of that data?
ouch. the autosave machinery seems a bit rickety at this point in general.
before 5/4's update auto backups were only performed at server start/shut down. if you've not restarted then backups were not done.
With that said being REALLY careful, meaning back up your current worlds folders cause it's the only copy you got.

because you have no real backups, I'd actually start with the guide, before deleting / renaming as the post today from Kringle points out.
The development process seems a bit sideways. They are implementing the hard stuff before getting the simple stuff right. Like server direct connects not working because the focus was on global NAT-punching share codes. Just open a port and listen. Then go do fancy stuff.

sorry, got distracted. ok, try something. change back to direct connect then do this:
go to a sudoer and run sudo tcpdump port 7777 and '(tcp-syn|tcp-ack)!=0'
changing 7777 to the port you are using
then try to connect - even if the server firewall blocks it, it will show up IF it's reaching that machine
if you see nothng, then it's being blocked before it hits your server machine
the client is windows
if you do see it, it's being blocked on the machine, or it's an issue with the client or config

Backing up live DB fikes while they are being randomly updated is Russion roulette. Sometimes you hear the click until you blow your brains out.

That's why people noticed enormous disk traffic eating up SSD lifespan early on until they toned it down somewhat. The design smells are everywhere here. It's a great game and I'm enjoying it but it needs a lot of work at a foundation level.
last I checked you want to use rockdb to create an actual checkpoint and write the backup using its api for an entirely safe copy - doing it externally by making a tarball or cp or the like isnt entirely safe?

I think there is culling, but it's kinda similar to DayZ, where players have to be out of the area for a length of time. if someone enters the "zone" the timer restarts for culling... I could be wrong.
that's fine, that's important - it means that your machine IS getting data from that port
content is irrelevant, it's reaching the machine. your issue is therefore that the machine is blocking it from reaching the server, or the server isn't accepting it for some reason
you can rule out both the client and the network.
I ran tcpdump on the server. It was acting a proxy for the server process. So the server process is not actually listening on the desired port
notably if you have a firewall, that command would detect the packets coming over the port BEFORE they hit the firewall

really makes me think something is causing issues before they're touching your server. everything you've seen sounds like the packets are hitting the machine but not making it to the server.

the server runs mostly silent on wine+linux normally. I run headless so I get some display errors related to using a virtual frame buffer, but that's it
I used xvfb to shut it up about that. Why it even tries to touch a display it's not using is another bad smell

I was playing last night with people, and my PC green screened, After multiple tries running the game all ended in green screening. I never knew about the recent problem everyone was talking about with the SSD's and the HDD's but now my HDD its running at 100% with or without the game being on now, and my PC keeps crashing. I am pretty sure this is a memory leak issue because I have seen something like this before with RAAM and would just replace them.

should be good! I rarely run servers as services myself, usually manage them directly with bash scripts and cron, but it does take care of start/restart for you that way.
I think it's just optimization, I get steady 60 sailing but my base it drops to around 30.
That's what I'm seeing as well. When I played last week I had a lot better frame rates so something happened with the latest patch. Hope that can be fixed.
Try the trick of joining another world and coming back to yours. It may work.
I edited the Engine.ini to turn off a bunch of stuff, smoothed out my fps, granted it made the game look different but I prefer performance over looks.

Help! Tried to run a dedicated server and ran into the backpack issue and now my character crashes when I try to run a solo game or join a hosted game. Is that character lost forever? I've reinstalled the game, I've tried the nexus mod fix. Nothing seems to be working.
I reported a while ago that I have had to manually reboot my server, hosted on Gportal, before anyone is able to log into it.

hi, just run into a peculiar issue when trying to play with friends, here's the situation:
The four of us lived in different time zones, and we were playing on one person's self hosted server a week ago, the server world file was then transfer to me since I have the most time out of all, and the transfer went smooth onto my own self hosted server with no issue, however, when we tried to share back the most recent world file back to my friend, every time he tries to start up the server, it would create a whole new world instead of the one transferred even though we changed all parameters that's required (World ID...), checked through the server description file. I'm not sure why the server dedicated tool is not pointing the correct files despite having the same process from last time

Your ISP would have the information. A lot of them offer an "Advanced firewall" as part of their service. Usually controlled through their website interface, or an app you install on your phone/tablet.

My dedicated server I run off my PC, decided to boot up a random new world today? Just launched server like I normally do, but now its a fresh new world with everything gone? How do I find my oldbackups and replace it or fix the issue?
Had a similar issue yesterday where TWO worlds were running somehow, one was empty/default and one was the one I was actively using, but managed to only keep up the one I actually built on.

Yeah I followed the pinned comments. Helped me restore my old one. Unfortunately its like 2-3 day old save, so still looking around for a more recent save. And yeah that was my exact issue last night lol. Then I had to restart my PC and when I booted up the server again normally, it was a new world.
i noticed the invite code in my server window was different from the config file maybe that could be it?
Mine still used the same invite code. Or else I would've noticed right away, at least I would think lol. But yeah I've fixed that problem at least. Now I just need a more recent save file. I'm back on my original world now, but the save is 4 days old.
Looked around the folder and unfortunately all files are from May 4th. No idea why no saves or anything happened all those days in-between. Set me back like 3-4 hours on a build, but I guess not the worst thing since I haven't been on as much.
Put the world save in "RocksDB_v2", Rename "RocksDB_v2" to "RocksDB" and delete the "RocksDB_v2_backup", then launch the server. It forces it to import the new save is how it was best described to me

How are you trying to connect to your sever:
- direct ip
- invite code
Its one or the other not both.
For both scenarios you need to go into your gateway, (router) and forward incoming traffic for both ports 7777 and 7778 to the internal LAN ip of the host machine. It is easiest to forward both TCP and UDP.
If you want to use INVITE CODE:
(After staring your server using invite code give it some time for your server to propagate to the hosted proxy servers, its not isntant)

Everytime I attempt to join a multiplayer server my game crashes, this worked fine this whole week. Validated my files and there were no issues, can load into single player fine
When its doing this just keep trying over and over again and sooner or later it will work, that kinda how I have done it when it messes up
If you are having trouble connecting, and you use invite codes for connection, it could be failing because of the proxy servers used to make the initial connection. Nothing we can do about it but complain to KrakenExpress

Need a little assistance. Our dedicated server wasn't booting, so we took what we thought we needed as a backup and nuked the server. We have started a new server, but it keeps loading as a fresh world.
The folder I have from the old server are the Rocks_DB, and a Default_Backups folder.

Hi, quick question if anybody had a similar problem:
My friend just sold all our stuff to the smugglers and made round about 6k silver coins.
After fast travelling to Tortuga, his game crashed on arrival.
Upon game restart the coins were no longer in his inventory.
The stuff he sold to the Smugglers yet was still "sold" and not in our boxes.
Upon game restart, every inventory item except the coins (probably cuz its last "happening action" (sorry, not a tech guy)) was still there.
Probably a bug and not undoable, right?

I have tried this, but every time I start the instance, it creates a new world ID and sets that as the new "WorldIslandID" name in the json.
I even tried copying all the folders inside my word into this new world folder and it still creates a new one and updates the "WorldIslandID" value.
Does anyone else have a problem where "Co-op Enemy Scaling" keeps going to 100% when hosting locally, after changing it to 0%?
did you try specifically how the guide says to do it, and/or the conversation from Kringle?
Or did you copy it a couple times how you thought to do it, and sum up what I linked won't work?
These methods have worked for countless coming in here with your exact situation.
it is more than likely your game crashed just before the instance backup/save state was was written.
It's more just bad luck/timing than anything, welcome to early access.
So I have, in this order (Please excuse me if I misread what I think needs to happen)
- Fired up the new server, Then stopped the server.
- Browsed to the RocksDB_v2 folder location and renamed that folder to RocksDB and deleted the RocksDB_v2_Backups folder.
- Taken my backup copy of RocksDB, Renamed it to RocksDB_v2 and uploaded it into the "saveProfiles/Default" location.
- Taken the world ID from this backup copy and pasted it over the "WordIslandID" value in the "ServerDescription.json".
But when I turn the server on, it creates a new folder under Worlds and updates the Json file to point to the same value as the new world.
@marsh glen I have it working. I missed the one line when opening my .json file "This file is controlled by AMP - Please import any changes so they are not overwritten by AMP"

You essentially make it so thee is only a RocksDB folder holding your world data, fire up the server, and it forces it to "re-import" the save state data to the new RocksDB_v2 system.

Might have been a little quick on stating this as working. I shut down and re-launched my sever and it once again created a new world and updated the .json file. I'll have aplay around and more than likely end up doing what you have just posted. Will update after my attempts.
the only thing I can think of id the data in your RocksDB was already imported previously to a RocksDB_v2 therefore the rename skipped the import.
yeah read Kringle's steps carefully, or just follow the pinned guide. They both accomplish the same thing.
when it creates the new RocksDB_v2 from my RockDB imported folder, should they retain the same world ID? or will that generate a new one as part of the forced re-import?
it will auto generate, jsut double check your ServerDescription.json is accurate before restarting

I've been playing on a local server and when I started my game today it said some game files were corrupted and could not be recovered. So I still had my lvl 6 character but no server. So when I create a new server it shows the same quest markers but the whole map is covered by the fog of war, no base, bells, or tents

You'll be looking to restore a backup of your world, it's been resolved for many users many times. You'll just have to dig a little, I've personally posted the steps in here more than a few times.
I believe I found a reproducible progression/migration issue related to XP multipliers.
My original server was running with a 1.5x XP rate.
Later I migrated all player data/characters to a new server running with the default 1x XP rate.
Result:
- Low level or newly created characters work fine
- Level 1 characters also work without issues
- Higher level characters migrated from the old 1.5x XP server consistently crash the server on login/load
The server enters a crash/restart loop with the following validation error:
Condition: 'RewardLevel < CurrentLevel' failed
and later:
Server will be stopped due to data inconsistency
From the logs it appears the progression validation fails inside:
R5BLEntityProgressionCntr::ValidateProgression
This makes me think progression or reward-level data becomes inconsistent when characters created under a boosted XP multiplier are loaded on a server using a different XP multiplier.
I also noticed issue #75 regarding Save-MultiplierHistory write failures and I wonder if this could be related to multiplier migration/state validation.
Important:
- Fresh characters on the new 1x server work correctly
- Only migrated higher-level characters from the old 1.5x environment trigger the crash
- The crash happens consistently when these characters are loaded
Hopefully this helps reproduce the issue.
Good information, but the risk of running the mod is stated on the mod description, and how it will effect player save states.

copy the entirety of the contents in:
\windrose\R5\Saved\SaveProfiles\Default\
I did local server so i can go to \windrose\R5\Saved\SaveProfiles\Default\
because you're running local , and restoring a backup , you'll be more interested in the parts labeled LOCAL and your be pulling from the _Backups folders located in and near the folders specified in the guide.
Okay, i did something stupid, I know. I was tired of trying to gather enough wood and stone (since we are just in build mode at this point) so i installed Vortex and some mods to increase the gather rate. installed them for solo only, gathered mats, then loaded into my Nitrado server and played for a couple hours. Logged out and all was fine.
Today I tried loading into my server and it keeps either kicking me back to the main menu or out of the game all together. I can load into solo games without issue.
I uninstalled vortex, the game, steam, restarted, reinstalled, turned off cloud saves, turned them back on. Did the deleted saved profiles, etc...
Any thoughts on how I can get back in? I am jonesing to build more... Oh, the other thing is my buddy can load and play in the server without issue.
Hello everyone, today I made a mistake and started the dedicated server twice, so when I connected to the wrong server, it overrode my saved game and loaded our game from the server. How can I retrieve the latest saved game from the backup and load it so that it’s the saved game the server starts with? In other words, how can I load the latest backup?

We have a virtual linux box and we're using a docker by UberDudePL. Everything has been running pretty good for a couple of weeks. Now, all of a sudden, we are getting kicked out of the server shortly upon connecting or the server FPS drops to 7 FPS. We're trying to isolate it down to what it was. I was going to grab the files and try to spin it up on my computer to see if it's an issue with the map. We were in the 2nd biome, just at the mission to go after Hands. I'm not sure if we did something in the map to cause such a problem. I think I stuck a storage box down in a mine, but I tried to get in to clear it.
I just moved a copy to my local computer and we're playing on it. Not getting disconnected as frequently, but definitely are seeing weird nuancy things like not being able to see ourselves in the mini map (or see each other on the full map). We're going to troubleshoot our docker for the FPS drop and disconnect issue, but not sure what we did that borked the map. I'm searching through chat now.
@marsh glen Thank you. I didn't follow the instructions to a T but I had copied all the _backup folders right after my issue so I copied the world directory (number and letters) into the game directory and it showed up and loaded. So I think I'm good? I guess only time will tell.
Saw online to disable steam cloud backup because that might have caused my issue. Is that something I should still do?

I have this issue too, I hard coded RAM to 32 GB but the server has 168 GB available, it crashes either way with an out of memory error but there is plenty of RAM available

I run nodiaque's container (which he has a template right in CA just search windrose), on about 7 servers, and have had zero issues with it, especially after setting the validate flag in the template for updates on restart.
Including running around 15 mods in each server
Amount of processes is not indicative of memory errors. You won't know until something tries to use that bad sector.
Manage to get this solved and it’s a weird one, apparently after the May 4 update since my friend who’s hosting the server haven’t play the game till yesterday, his RockDB folder somehow got removed? (Not sure how and why it got removed), and after manually setting up a RockDB folder so RockDB and RockDBv2 exist in the dedicated server saved profile folder the app is loading the desired world correctly

Why are the servers showing N/A on multiplayer screen
Hello we are not able to join our server right now. We have tried restarting the server and have not been able to join. Hosted on Apex Minecraft Hosting
