try resetting your graphics card. Win+CTRL+Shift+B , screen will go blank. wait a few seconds, and launch the game again.
also, make sure you have no windows updates, and seeing if you have any gpu updates using nvidias control panel/whatever AMD uses

I've done all updates through windows and adrenaline and also reset the GPU. Still won't load. Worked yesterday for both of us now it just sits here and loads
but ive been on the game for a bit, both private server and local save, i havent experienced any issues with my SSD

Start Steam and click on its Library tab.
Right-click the Windrose game in the left sidebar to select Properties.
Enter -dx12 into the launch options box.
Try starting Windrose.
If the game still doesn’t start, enter -dx11 in the launch options box for Windrose.

I have picked up multiple items in different zones and it is not updating the discoveries, ive restarted my game, dropped and picked them up again, etc.
I am playing modded, i can provide list of mods if required. but played an entire world with the same mods and am just now starting to find this issue.
Ok so I've figured out it has something to do with my characters or worlds under the SaveProfiles in AppData. If I remove it while offline the game works and lets me create a new character and world. The moment I bring my character back is when it loads forever
The game luckily creates backup saves, so should be possible to restore things.

Figured it out. It seems there was a player deep in the SaveProfiles folder that for some reason was causing the infinite loading screen. Deleting that specific player restored functionality to my Ally X. I will say though it seems steam doesn't recognize removing it as changing the files so it keeps reuploading the corrupt player. Anyways hope this helps someone else in the future
i have done evrything wiped drivers lowered graphics settings and 100 other things everytime im playinng the game i go about 20 minutes and my whole screeen goes black and i have to hard shut down my pc. i have tried evrything in existence and i cant play the game
Currently Steam Cloud is responsible for a lot of corruption issues with local saves.
Especially if you are trying to use it to sync multiple devices.
DX11 isn't supported, FYI
It wasn't until recently it started giving me problems. At work I'll use my Ally X but at home I use my PC. Sometimes it loses the save but so far nothing catastrophic. Hopefully we get a fix

I'm having the same type of issue. Started happening after the last patch, was fine for Demo and when game went early access. Once that patch hit, it drained my laptop battery (I am plugged in all the time), then just black screen and nothing til I rebooted the laptop.
If you see no writes or reads with high usage time it's because the disk or I/O stack got corrupted.
The game freezing is a secondary issue to that.
If your battery got drained it wasn't plugged in (or rather, the system didn't detect it was connected, which sadly happens a lot) or your charger isn't powerful enough to keep up with full load on your system.
The first issue is usually resolved by unplugging and replugging the charger.
On a side note, I have spent the last 2 days logged in to Warframe, even afk for literally 18 hours each day, both playing and walking away to do life, and zero black screens, zero crashes, zero anything wrong. Alt-tab to look at X, facebook, look up searches on google. No problems.
So is the SSD issue bad or just blow out of scope?
My PC crashed a year ago, all I play is a laptop, plugged in all the time. it's set up like a PC. I checked the charger, checked the connections, and even changed to a new charger. Same problem. the laptop has not left its location in over a year.

i played for 10 + hours the first 2 days the game came out, no problem. After the patch when it went "live" is when I ran into issues. Mostly in co-op, like 6 times. A few times in single player, like 2.

my bf got bsod (blue screens of death) from the game, he got a pretty beefy pc so we were confused turns out slowing his memory speed or something fixed it entirely (he is the tech savy one not me, sorry if I explained it wrong)

There is a confirmed issue of excessive writes made to SSDs, however this would not create stuttering or lag within the game and would not have any impact on game performance.

But that would be a separate albeit real problem from your stuttering and lag.
And it's nowhere near enough writes to be concerning for drive health. High, yes. Destructive, no. At the rate mine is writing, it would take 20 years of windrose to use my drive's TBW.

SSDs "wear down" by writing data, reads are free, but writes slowly take their toll. Thing is, drives measure for long they'll live by TBW, or terabytes written. This varies by drive but usually it's 100-600.

It's good that you have enough space on your SSD for that to not be a concern. I do not. A float of about 20% or 30% by some estimates of free storage space is necessary based on how SSDs write data.

Looking at mine from the game, it's around 80 GB in 18hr. And my drive is rated for 600 TBW. 600,000/80=7500 days, or 20.54 years.
That's not even how SSDs work any more. They do use empty space for caching for speed, but they overallocate so much (it's called over-provisioning) they you don't need to leave space empty for speed, and that's irrelevant for writes/drive health anyways, two entirely different issues.
If the drive is near end-of-life, then it could be an issue, but you have so much hidden space and drives have so much TBW that it's unlikely. You can check your SMART data using something like HWINFO64 if you're really worried.

Hello, I am in a situation where I don’t know what to do. I need someone who knows the game well. I started the game and I have 10 hours on it, so I made some progress, and yesterday I invited a friend who was starting from zero on my island. He therefore had his first tutorial missions, but then my more advanced shared missions are not linked in his progress. Should I do each of his own missions until he reaches my mission level and our progressions link? Or won’t it work because we have to start together?

That's one of the more popular dockers I see referenced here. Lots use several, and run it bare metal.

Using invites, shouldn't be necessary, and direct connect would stay on LAN (tested it offline, it works).
Hmmm. Maybe try direct connect? Would probably be easier than trying to figure out why your connection isn't reaching it via invite.

I found a video exposing an ssd rewrite issue that was responded to by the devs, but the devs have since blocked and closed that response. Can anyone here direct me to or explain to me if the large rewrites on the ssd are a thing (and a thing to be concerned about)?
People are getting it mixed up on what is happening and then assuming it's far larger because it seems scary.
Have not seen anyone actually show any actual degradation to their SSD, just people "talking about it" or "people heard others talking about it"

99.9% of the time, I see it as 0.1 to 1.2 MBps, an occasional spike to 8MB, rare instances of higher.

If they didn't then people would say that the devs don't care, which these devs very much so do care. At the end of the day if you're really worried about it then just don't get/play it until the next update. Seems like the easiest solution here instead of a never ending back and forth.

I am having issues - I have a local server (running in Docker) no Mods but I experience massive hitching when out in the ocean, its making ship combat just about impossible, investigations lead me to believe that it could be my aging SATA SSD wasnt up to the job, so as its quite a beefy server I moved all the server files into a tmpfs (ramdrive) partition and used it there, and the hitching was still occuring...the server is only 2 players a moderate base nothing huge. we've had to suspect playing until we can find a solution the error in the logs is showing as - [windrose] 2026-04-27T21:28:22.418916000Z [2026.04.27-21.28.22:313][898]R5LogBLDalAQ: Warning: [005898] R5BLDalAsyncQueue::DetectProblems [s:1102: 4110: commitT] Slow task. So in this folder:

You will have two folders, one with a series of numbers, another with the series of numbers, but + _Backups
In the _Backups folder, you will have a lot of individual backed up instances of your save data.
If you dig through each, you will see these
Can safely take a batch from the backed up folder and copy/paste it over the matching folders in the main one.
BUT would be good to copy the ORIGIANLS to your desktop as a precaution.
Writes in this game are excessive. It will wear your SSD down faster than usual, by a decent margin. But it would still take years to kill a drive, it's nowhere near an immediate danger.
So it is a problem and needs fixed, but unless your drive was already nearing EOL, it will not kill it.
It also isn't a constant thing, there are spikes, but it won't be like that all the time, or even most of the time.
You can do the math simply by getting any of a hundred programs that let you see SMART data, check the writes before and after a session, then divide that by your SSD's TBW (terabytes written, estimate on how long it'd take to die).
For me, I saw 80GB in one day of playing, and have 600 TBW, so it would take 20 years.
far faster than the MTTF (mean time to failure, also called MTBF) of my drive, but longer than I expect this computer to be alive.
task manager isn't great for this btw. The one I use is HWiNFO 64, I use it to pin gpu and cpu temps to my tray, but it also shows drive SMART data:

and for anyone wanting to try this on a linux server, you'd use smartctl -a /dev/nvme0 | grep "Written", changing /dev/nvme0 to your drive. (apt install smartmontools to install it)

stuttering should have an underlying cause, usually either ram, cpu, or gpu capping out.

its because ue5 thrashes the pagefile, especially if you don't have enough ram for the game. its a memory hog, and being early access doesn't help
do not forget ping 
yeah that happens a lot out on the ocean as the shaders and all the backend UE5 engine really hits the cpu for processing

Still not found out why my server is crashing... But it seems down to the persistent world... As if I start it with the same world but a different persistent id it seems to run without any issues but once I swap it back it crashes again so something somewhere has gone weird

Seems dedicated server hosting is outright unstable, if server crashes it crashes, logs don't help and nothing on the admin side gives us power to influence it, it's just up to game devs patch up these
Yea I have one that crashes... Gives me one of two error codes... But there is nothing anywhere to say what the error codes are. Even if I just look at general error codes of the unreal engine there is nothing about them lol
They said probably next patch, though I haven't seen at eta yet.
If you're really worried you can check yourself how much life you have left (ssd's tbw - smart data writes) then play one session and compare smart data writes before/after, then divide by what's left.

There have been a few hotfixes weeks ago.

No patches between last and this week.
Look for Hardware and OS updates. Check your Temps for your CPU/GPU. Very likely something on your end, even what you have built in the world if too much for this early in development could cause issues. Easy to build large but does not mean the game will handle it well.
Finally if you have a Nvidia GPU (this works with another game) change your Driver from Game Ready to Studio. I am still on Studio and have had 0 issues with this game. Over with Icarus people are reporting issues until they switch to Studio. Can not confirm that Icarus is only game having issues with Game Ready but feels unlikely the game is the issue.

Like Ark however the game will complete there is too much money made already for it not to be so that is a great thing.

Oh nothing is promised, at the same time some games fail because of poor managment or lack of funds. Lack of funds should not be an issue here. I was however a victim of the game Just Survive the last name it went by where plenty was made but still they quit. Also own Atlas too so I get it. Positive thinking however works best right?

Is anyone else currently having connection issues with dedicated servers? Since last night, it's impossible to join mine.
I checked SteamDB and it looks like a new server-side version was released, but the client-side update isn't available on Steam yet. This is likely causing a version mismatch/compatibility issue, preventing anyone from connecting.

It's not the game but either your antivirus/firewall if you lose connection on only your PC, or a modem/router kicked the bucket if you lose an entire LAN.
Unsure what keeps causing this issue, but my player indicator, discovered location map icons, etc vanish.
Only common ground I can find, might be related to base building.
Restarting my game does not remedy the issue, whereas either connecting to a new server, or loading a new world seems to remedy it.
Rebooting the server that is affected, only seems to be a temporary fix as it happens again very quickly once the world has been afflicted.
I can see other players (when on a shared server), but I can not see myself. Only custom map markers appear to still work.
If it helps, I'm playing on Linux, rather than Windows.
i tried turning off firewall still didn't work, it only kills internet for my computer and ive played numerous times before with no changes to my pc
then its your pc, windows update or AV or even firmware update on router and if router is ISP rented then they could have blocked p2p games, use a moble hot spot and see if you connect

If you are loading into the Main Menu for too long it's an indicator of corrupted local save.
Currently the game kicks the bucket if you use Steam Cloud to sync saves between multple devices.
Loading is usually tied to RAM and/or Drive Type/Speed
and connection even solo because it has to talk to backend services
idk man ive reinstalled my driver, tampered with a few settings but 100% gpu usage on the menu still, my other games are absolutely fine and this is all with the recommended settings 😭
Tried mobile hotspot it worked and didn't kill internet when i launched game, I use Spectrum is there any fix cause I don't have good enough mobile signal to play a game without lag
Oh I was just throwing some ideas out there to try to help. No clue what other games you refer to but again remember this is very early in development so can not compare this to others. Turn down your Resolution too that can help. I get it you have a good PC want to play in 4k and all but remember just because you can does not always mean you should.

Good morning everyone. I'm having a problem and I'd appreciate any help. I created a dedicated server on Proxmox using a Windows 10 VM. I've already opened the router ports, added the internet service with the provider and the public IP address, and confirmed on the website that the ports are open. I've disabled the Windows and Proxmox firewalls, configured the game files, and done a number of other things. However, when I try to connect from another computer on a non-local network, it doesn't connect; it goes back to the initial menu, and the server displays the following image (which I will post below). Can anyone help me?
Four things to check, in order of likelihood:

UDP forwarding. The sites that say "port is open" almost always only test TCP. Windrose needs UDP forwarded too, and that is the actual gameplay traffic. Make sure your router has these forwards going to the Windows VM:
7777 TCP + UDP
7778 UDP
27015 TCP + UDP
27036 TCP + UDP
If your forwards are TCP-only, that alone explains the symptom (lobby joins, then drops back to menu). -
Proxmox networking. If your VM is on a private Proxmox bridge (something like vmbr1 with a 10.x.x.x address) instead of bridged onto your home LAN, your router forward stops at the Proxmox host and never reaches the VM. Easiest fix: put the VM on vmbr0 so it gets a real 192.168.x.x address from your router, then point the forward at that IP. The harder fix is iptables DNAT rules on the Proxmox host, but bridging directly is way simpler.

CGNAT. Compare the WAN IP in your router admin page with what whatismyip.com shows you. If they are different (especially if your router shows something starting with 100.64 to 100.127), you are behind carrier-grade NAT and no port forward on Earth will work. You would need to ask your ISP for a real public IPv4.

Quick sanity check from inside the VM. With the server running, open PowerShell and run:
Get-NetUDPEndpoint -LocalPort 7777
Get-NetTCPConnection -LocalPort 7777
If nothing comes back, the server is not actually binding to those ports and we need to look at the server config instead.

Could be that your save is corrupted. Did you back up your R5 file before you used mods?
I'd suggest deleting the file and replacing it with the backup if you did

Message Nitrado direct on their website. We were having a ton of issues, especially while at Sea (rubber banding/lag) and since talking to them our issues have been 90% resolved.

What did they have you do?
Go into your server logs on your browser, You can find this by going to your web interface → Tools → File Browser → windrose folder → R5 → Saved → Logs → R5.log (the most recent one). and look for anything that says "Slow task" "quite slow task", that's what was happening to us.

Running your own server locally is easy. Troubleshooting it with EA games like this with all the issues that is hard. So far I get to wait utntil it is all sorted.

Ah, do you have a Windows 11 PC? I think that runs DX12 by default. With Win 10 I think you have to force it.

That message tells you the game engine did not find compatible driver/hardware for the feature set the game uses.
This also includes OS being too old and GPU driver crashing on launch.

Heya all. I've been playing for several days just fine. But today I got a notice from Steam that said something to the effect of failed to sync single player game. The game now runs super clonky. You can try to use one of the automated backup saves the game is doing since the last hotfix from few weeks ago.
But yes, removal of the corrupted save is the only known fix for this kind of an issue.

Having slight issue, I have a gportal server set up and a code afe7f90f to join the server, it is not working, it states g server not found, I am having to manually type in the IP address, anyone know why this might be going on? I am clicking on Connect to server and put the invite code in and it is not working, I have already changed servers with gportal, still not working.

DirectX 12 is not supported on your system. Try running without the -dx12 or -d3d12 command line argument.

Can't join my own dedicated server anymore that worked about 5h ago. My brother who is connected to the same router both via ethernet can join from his pc but when I tried to login from his pc to the game I couldnt join again. I have verified files and redownloaded the game. I also deleted my char and tried with a fresh character still couldnt join. Offline/Solo works no problem

If you go to gportal, depending on how many you want on will be a different cost, there is 0 set up other than putting your server name and password if you want.
I currently have a nitrado server my wife and I play on so we can progress without one of us having to be online. Is there a way to save the world and progress iffor any reason we stop using nitrado or take a break and upload it back if we decide to go back to nitrado or a different service?

Ok so it is a locally ran server, I would start from scratch that is what my friend had to do,
Just a tip: If you are connecting locally to your (locally hosted dedicated server) server too, you need to make adjustments to your config (bridge-mode: host in docker stack and P2P_Proxy=your_local_ip) otherwise you get back the main menu when connecting and it will fail. (tested with indifferentbroccoli - see the README on github!)

You can only have neither of the two modes, not both. Ive used Invite Code successfully (USE_DIRECT_CONNECTION=false, DIRECT_CONNECTION_PROXY_ADDRESS=0.0.0.0)
As far as is see you configured both invite and direct connection.. Your Server Port ist missing to work with Direct Connection (SERVER_PORT=7777 is default)
Also DirectConnectionServerAddress is not used, should be DirectConnectionProxyAddress ?

Guys, I see that access is already working. However, when I'm logged in, after about 5 minutes it freezes and disconnects the players, and the server doesn't log anything. I don't know why it disconnects, but when I try to log in it doesn't work. It only works after restarting the server.

if you are using gportal and using windrose+ thats the issue and sadly only fix is new toon and wipe the server and make a new one, if no mods and not on gportal server im not sure, however we ran into the issue of beating first boss and it crashing the game for us and we cant load in.

help, i can't stop aiming or switch weapons. I've already tried changing slots, weapons, verifying game files, restarting, changing controls... nothing works.

Hi all, I've recently built a fresh PC with AMD hardware. I'm getting a UE5 Game Fatal Error crash on Windrose and Expedition 33
I've tried a few things to fix it with no luck.
I tested my PC in 3dmark and cinebench and had good results with no hiccups and healthy temps.
CPU: Ryzen 9 9950X3D
GPU: Gigabyte 9070 XT Aorus Elite
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5-6000 CL30
Motherboard: Gigabyte X870 Aorus Stealth ATX AM5
I've verified game files, installed DDU to remove drivers and re install them, tried turning off EXPO in bios, RE-SIZE BAR in bios, turning off background apps like icue, GCC, Discord, etc. I've tried running the games .exe as administrator and oddly enough windrose gets stuck in a boot loop when I do that. I have the DirectX up to date, microsoft visual C++ Redistributables up to date too. The crashes always happen within a few minutes.
Other games like Battlefield 6 and riot games work completely fine. Sorry if this topic has been covered already
This can happen when the game is having an issue reconciling your player profile. The easy annswer is to remove that player profile from your computer and restore one of the backups - i would chose based on the time 2nd closest to you failed loginnnn
ENSURE YOUR GAME IS NOT RUNNNING.
- Navigate to the Players folder: %LOCALAPPDATA%\R5\Saved\SaveProfiles<SteamID>\RocksDB<Version>\Players\
- Removed the folder with your Player_ID . (backup anything you touch , if you are not sure what you are doing, first!
- Navigate to %LOCALAPPDATA%\R5\Saved\SaveProfiles<SteamID_backups, copy the folder whose name matches the one you removed inn he first step
- Paste that copy into: %LOCALAPPDATA%\R5\Saved\SaveProfiles<SteamID>\RocksDB<Version>\Players\
Start your game and login - you will have lost sime progress..but its better than starting over

"Figured it out. It seems there was a player deep in the SaveProfiles folder that for some reason was causing the infinite loading screen. Deleting that specific player restored functionality to my Ally X. I will say though it seems steam doesn't recognize removing it as changing the files so it keeps reuploading the corrupt player. Anyways hope this helps someone else in the future"
Turn off the steam cloud save for the game its its steam proprties, to circumvent that part.
Hey what is happening with Windrose recently; I played yesterday, all fine.
Today, launch is OK, I go to my owned server, and it BSOD me, telling me windows need repairs.
Finally, all is good, but I noticed it's linked to HEAVY SSD spike, can't do much on that.
Have anyone do something about it ? Are the dev aware of this ?
I can't think of anything needing multiple Go/s of SSD usage for a game. Even at loading point, i'd prefer a slower loading if it doesnt burn my hardware ...
Go to search at the bottom of the screen type %appdata% and click on that. Go back one page to where it says local locallow and roaming. Click on local. Scroll down to R5 then saved then SaveProfiles then the one that isn't the backup then RocksDB and then 0.10.0 then players and save this file before you do anything. Turn off steam cloud. Go into the file and delete the files one at a time and restoring it once you've found it doesn't fix it. I had to remove two profiles to fix the problem
Once you remove a profile start the game and see if it works. If it didn't work restore the profile and try another.
I have had success restoring backup profiles but you have to ensure the DTG stamp is prior to your failure ..otherwise just delete everything past the ../R5/Saves and create new toons.
I'm in no problem with my character and everything. Just unfortunately have to delete those two files every time I play but hey I got my stuff back and it's working I call that a success
The lonng then failed login is a timeout after the gmaes gives up on repairing the DB; normally a poinnter.

Can anyone help me figure out why I can no longer launch this game without my internet dying.
I've played numerous times before this just fine, but trying to play the last 2 days if I just launch the game internet cuts out.
I have spectrum and that wasn't an issue before, I've tried turning off security shield and port forwarding just incase and still running into this issue.
I have reinstalled and verified files, rebooted the computer and modem and router multiple times.
Have reset the adapter and reconnected internet, made sure it is allowed past firewall, have even disabled firewall at one point.
Did a dns flush, cleared steam download cache, I've tried numerous different ways and it still isn't working.
Has anyone else run into this problem?

I've seen this before when channel width set to 160Mhz for the 5GHz (not sure of the actual cause behind that) and exclusive fullscreen and it kills your connection entirely. You could try going into your wireless adapter settings (Start, Wifi Settings, Hardware Properties, more adapter options), configure, advanced tab, Channel Width for 5Ghz, and changing it from Auto to 80Mhz or 20Mhz, whatever setting it has.
honestly probably won't fix it in this case, since swapping off fullscreen didn't, but can't hurt to check

There's a bug with dedicated servers that cause cpu cores to throttle up to 100% when no one is in the server
And i saw someone have a solution, but people are using docker to host their servers. I just have another PC for server related stuff for games.

Hello, can anyone help me with a directx 12 is not supported issue? I know my pc is directx 12 capable and ive already run through all the basic checks, verified game files, checked for system and driver updates, . . . still getting the same message when i try to run the game
that patch doesn't appear to be limited to docker in any way, it patches the windrose binary from what I see

100% util won't damage a cpu, temp will if it's not properly cooled, but it should cool normally and throttle if it gets too hot regardless
still, not a bad idea to fix the issue, but you shouldn't have to worry about damage even without it.
Just not a fan of seeing isolated cores going 100% util and the sound of my fans blowing over night

gportal has ftp access to your servers, you can absolutely download your world folder for a local backup
get your ftp credentials then a program capable of ftp like winscp, connect, download the folder, boom

By chance is there a way to sync up quest progress? I played 6~ hours solo and then joined a fresh server (the above server mentioned) and it transferred all my progress into the server. Would I have had to of deleted stuff in my save folder before starting in this server for an actual fresh start?

quest progress and POI completion are saved by char, not world.

can someone help me get my server up with my solo world imported? I tried filezilla and winscp, then tried nitrado and am now on bisect hosting but when I launch my server, It either crashes my game or kicks me back to the main menu (thats what usually what happens)

I think I found the issue, the server with higher max stacks had a mod that let you progress past 15, although you stay lvl 15 your skill points and talents kept increasing
And I think that borked my character unfortunately, so I made a new one and am able to play normally, I guess I just have to have a character that transfers mats

Hey I'm having a weird issue with Discord in this server specifically, So in the Tortuga voice channel I cant hear anyone and no one can hear me but if i join any other channel in this server that issue dissapears entirely, i hear mute deafen join leave notifications and all of my audio stuff is setup right, ive restarted the app the pc i just wonder if a mod maybe changed a setting or albeit highly unlikely changed my perms on a user level not a role level? idk any ideas would be helpful cause i use this channel every day no issues till i just got back from dinner lol

Since yesterday night when they released the news on steam about the future updates I can't join my own dedicated server anymore, after trying to join the world it loads for about 30s and then the game shuts down.
What I tried so far and still couldn't Join:
-Created a new character
-Created a new dedicated Server
-To host a game directly (Couldn't create)
-login from another pc
-Use a different internet connection
-logged in with another steam ID (I could join the world)
Other friends can join the server and only experience a bit of performance decrease.
I can join my solo world but nothing online.

Hi, I have an issue with loading my save. I have a solo world, but when I try to load it, it just keeps loading and nothing happens. I can wait a very long time, but it still doesn’t work. Is there any way to repair the save?
Any ideas on how to stop a random flash bloom effect that is only happening on my large furnace? It is not mod related as it started happening in vanilla with no mods. I have made sure my GPU Drivers are up to date, verified game files via Steam, reset all in game settings to default, used the "auto config" button in the video settings tab, turned on FSR and turned it off, I do not know what else to try to stop these very random occurrences of the top of my large furnaces glowing more than the surface of the sun blinding the crap outta me. Check the below screenshot for visual details about what's happening.
If I leave render distance on foot, or via fast travel, or on my ship, the bloom thingy goes away and is gone when I return. It is so random that I never know when or if it is going to happen, so I have no idea how to recreate it. Please help.

My friends were able to connect, but I had trouble connecting to my locally hosted dedicated server using the indifferentbroccoli docker.
Once I made the changes listed in the README I was able to connect, thanks for the tip, I should have finished reading the README.
However, now my friends outside the LAN aren't able to connect, similar issue where I see them show up for 1 second in-game, then they get disconnected.
Any ideas on how to fix that?

The dedic server package have certain minimum hardware (AVX) and software (DirectX runtimes, vcredist 2022) requirements.

did you check the part "LAN connection" ? You need to change network:mode: host in docker and set P2P_PROXY_ADDRESS to your local IP address. worked for me, but tested locally for now. https://github.com/indifferentbroccoli/windrose-server-docker#lan-connections

did you check your port forwarding now ? since it might be another local IP, i will test that.
Hmm, I have 7777 forwarded to the local address of the host running docker on the LAN in the router settings (like I had before, I figured it was necessary for outside connections, and indeed friends were able to connect). I think the local IP is still the same with those new settings, wouldn't network_mode: host make that even more strict (portainer doesn't even show an IP for the container)?

okay find the solution: you need to USE_DIRECT_CONNECTION=true and connect via IP/DynDNS:7777 ingame otherweise the game uses EOS (EpicOnline Service) or AWS and do dynamic ports trought NAT which is not working.

I use DIRECT_CONNECTION_PROXY_ADDRESS=0.0.0.0 to bind for any interface and network_mode: host, P2P_PROXY_ADDRESS=192.168.2.3 and USE_DIRECT_CONNECTION=true - will continue checking
This worked for me connecting with the WAN-IP and DynDNS as well, but this still may be all local. I'll ask friends to try in a few hours. Thank you for the help, looking promising! I think DIRECT_CONNECTION_PROXY_ADDRESS=0.0.0.0 is the key.

Its in their FAQ. It's a program that you download and just activate it to get "private" network connection. That fixed our first issue.

hi the game worked great before. i tried playing on an ASUS rog ally x and it ran fine on the console but i preferred to go back to my PC and now the game doesn't load after launching from steam. it gets past the unreal logo and then loads for a very long time (much longer than before). i am curently trying to re install the game hope it helps

Hello. I cannot load the game. I was playing fine in the playtests. Not sure what's up.
I click "play" in steam, and after a few seconds a black or white (depends on?) screen appears for a couple minutes and then "The UE-R5 Game has crashed and will close." and I can hear waves and seaguls. I searched here for others but haven't found anything.
I am on Linux CachyOS
I've already rebooted and restarted steam
I've got the latest drivers for my Nvidia RTX 5070 Ti
Verified my game files in Steam
Uninstalled and reinstalled
tried with Compatibility on and off.
Not sure what else I can do.

Hey so I have a corrupted world, I lost all the backups do to having to reinstall windows. Is there another way to fix the corrupted world? Will there be a tool that can find the corrupt file and potentially restore it? Or am I SOL and send that world to the dustbin?
do you have manual copy of world or only backups?
Seems I'm in the same boat as Icemandies, my 80hr save is corrupted and I've tried everything. The only way I can get back into the game is to load one of my old backups and start off from level 11 again. Which is very disappointing because I moved my base completely and spent hours building in a new area and everything was perfect! Everytime I load my cloud save i run into the issue so it seems like I'll need to turn off cloud save start a new game and turn on cloud save then replace it with the local save file. Which means I'll start at level 1 again. 🙁 Would anyone here have any recommendations for this fix? I'm sure a lot of us here are going through the same thing. Thank you..

Have you tried using the character on another world? Character level/inventory/quest progress seemed to be stored separately from world saves so maybe(hopefully) you won't have to start from level one all over again if it's just the world save being problematic
I only have 1 character, and I can't even get passed the loading screen on my cloud save file.
Try making another character and seeing if you can join the world with that one! Alternatively, try making a new world to join with your leveled character
Either option could be a tempfix until someone with more tech knowledge can help you out

Im having a weird issue with my FPS. When I open the game for the first time after restarting my computer the fps is great, but when i close out the game once and reopen it, then my fps will be down between 10-14 fps just bouncing around. Kinda getting tired of having to either restart my computer or uninstalling the game to fix this.

So I am hosting a server and 3 players are playing on it.
The problem is that 1 player has very weird "rubber banding" issues when building stuff. If he places something, it takes up to 20 second for it to appear on his screen. The strange thing is, the platform he want to place appears instantly for all other players. He can place like 10 platforms and they all appear for other players just not for him.
The "lagging" player has a stable ping of 70. He still sees other players moving around in real time and can still interact with other stuff while he waits for his platforms to appear.

i may have tried now the deletion of the game saved files, although i got a backup of them
i launched the game and was already at the character creation, and then same issue of black screen

I am seeing the same thing since I brought my server up last night. Only one CPU core is spun up to 100%, so it's not a huge deal. Is there a work-around for this and/or a planned fix?

My PC that I host the dedicated server on crashed and restarted. Now when I try to run the server again I get red errors.
Many red lines saying LogOutputDevice: Error:[Callstack] and then an error code but there are many lines like this and many different error codes.
I tried verifying the files but no luck.
Anyone else encountering a hard game freeze that won't resolve unless manually shutting down when entering Tortuga? I've had no issues since launch but twice now today the game just freezes solid shortly after fast travelling into Tortuga, and then won't load back into the game again.

Hi, discoveries is bugged, my friend picked up the same items as me but its not unlocking in the discoveries has anyone encountered this issue? Note that he is the host of the game.
