Harbor in construction!

The lighthouse was built first after grueling stair work and an intense battle against rock hitbox. It still needs decoration and fleshing around the stair part, little huts and such.

We're currently working on the docks and the tavern, the marketplace needs cluttering and more stuff but we're getting there!

I played the demo, it was absolutely fantastic! It was so good I thought you guys were going to full release but fair enough on the early access.

What I mean to say is, will there ever be wind in my sails to affect sea combat?

Because without wind it just becomes turning left or right and firing at your target with both targets moving in almost an exact circle. Wind is the minutia of naval combat.

Last night I encountered another one of those horrible creatures. They look human enough but up close they are terribly disfigured, as though cursed by Davy Jones himself. Their bodies are covered in slimy, oozing boils and they walk as though an invisible puppet master controls them. It seems their vision is poor but when I got closer it's face snapped to my direction and it shambled towards me with the eyes of a hungry wolf. I won't be ashamed to admit that I ran as fast as I could back to camp. Gods, what are they? How do they get this way and why, why do they even exist in this world? My dreams will be haunted for many nights to come and I pray that I do not fall into this horrendous fate..

That may be a server setting thing. Building decay is typical in public servers for games like this so that unattended buildings don't sit forever. I have never had to do anything with any of my builds on our non-ded game

I don't, but I can't image it's going to be a problem. I feel like the community would be PISSED if there was default building decay. I know I would be. It could also be an artifact of previous development before they decided to axe or stow it for the time being.

Build pieces do not degrade over time. And can't be repaired. But they CAN take damage from pistol / spear / grenade / cannon fire.
A waist high fence can stop melee mobs, but can be broken by ranged attacks.
Or a griefer can just cannon your base to rubble.

played ark for ~800 hours at release without mods and quit because the performance was really bad if you build something large scale. You remove a tile from the ceiling and ... 5 sec pause and after that the whole upper part was gone 🙂

but managed to win 200$ with my castle from one of the early arkitect competition

press either / or ? to hide the UI (you may change the keybinding in your settings too). Then for a higher view, go into build mode and then press V. It will bring the camera higher and technically hide your toon.

How do you all deal with the bonfire to integrate it in your designs? I'm building a little square at the center of my settlement and I tried burying it (bad, the smoke ruins the mood), and also putting it in an elevated spot (bad, the doctor was easy to call and I built some temporary stairs for him to get down, but the other guy didn't appear, I had to go back to my starter island base to talk with him). Now I have just resorted to make a fire pit in the middle of the square, but I don't like it at all

Place a pier on one corner at the end of a square tile(wood etc) and it gives you more snapping points to turn with the rocks etc.

Gives you good smooth turns.

A few pics up, Plasmazombie said, "Here is my pirate hold" and his second pic shows his furnaces. He's placed a timber frame around his work area, but no roof, so the forges still work.
Edit: Other people build them into the side of the wall, but have the back exposed to the air so they aren't under a roof. But those're like... 20 or 50 pics up.

Hello, I wanted to share with you what I've built so far, as it's time to put the game down until the next update. I've completed all the quests and all the equipment upgrades. The base design isn't finished—as you'll see, there should be a forge on the left side, but instead, there is a temporary tent xD. Regardless, I'm happy with what I've built so far.

Buildings can actually take damage from ranged weapons / cannon fire. But a lot of the time if it's 90% in the wall, it's just gonna be stuck there forever.

but what i would do is make certain assemblys once and then probably save them for every future playthrough, like a shelf filled with kitchen stuff, or a dinner table. with seating arrangements etc.
or a few basic building layouts that i find myself building often, like the standard 4x6x3 house, that kinda thing
so i have a ready made house when i start a new world thats quick to set up

there is a "structural stability" system, but it dosnt really differentiate between rocks or regular ground.
getting larger flat spaces on a cliffside is a bit more difficult, but it makes up for it in looks

you can also use the roof ridge .. in some situations - like many little windows .. or smaller roofs, you can get better results with those. (as long as you dont need the space in the roof as those block a ton of it)
