I have tested both, just start a new server and get the stone at the beginning (around the hole in the ground hideout) and restart.... I chop wood this way too clear around there, hit the first mine and then restart.

yes your thinking is correct, much faster than hitting all the mines, etc. the reason is because you get less stone from the other mines anyway they have more pure copper.

Also a good tip, if you're trying to put items down that are say "decorative" but require a bonfire - you can put a bonfire down, decorate all you want and then remove the bonfire if need be. The decorative items will remain.

Decorations only work within the bonfire range, because decorations are designed to give you extra rested bonuses. The game says they are only useful inside bonfire range and therefore doesn’t let you build them outside. However, you can build a bonfire, build decorations, then delete the bonfire, and the decorations will remain. Hope this helps!

No external tools, no. It started as a little house with a jetty, then I knocked it down, built a single tower and the rest followed. I've pretty much just been using Google Images as a reference point for the 16th century period housing and I've followed the curvature of the hill, to give it a little bit of depth and character with all the little nooks and staircases etc - the rest just needs to be filled in with assets to give it a 'living' feel

the problem is that the first stair joins on a 75 deg angle and the second set of stairs needs to be 30% shorter to join properly . yes.... i pulled out the calculator and did full on carpentry calculations

and that stairs width needs to be cut by 15.5 %

if you free form the stairs with the regular plank, the mooring post (solid wood pillar) is large enough to cover the ugly

the trick is to bring the pillars down from the ceiling along the internal side (not against the wall) then form the stairs around the pillars hiding the icky joints in them

yea just enter and hit all the blocking walls. not to much stone burried in the copper. hit all the mines then go gather wood and fiber then build, rinse repeat.

I'm interested to know how you've done your stairs here. I usually go with a beam in the middle and work my way up from there
But I like your stairs too cause it gives more space to build at the bottom floor

Can you count how many blocks high your tower is? I have an extremely tall tower in my fort build but I have TONS of foundation stone and a very wide base. Not sure if the game takes that into account

ive use a base of the big stone pillars that are like 4 wide 6 high in a cross on the bottom . and its semetrical but this one corner and the top layer above these roof wont build

those last 3 bits in that corner and the top roof panels is to much apparently

I will count how tall my tower is and see how wide my foundation base is. Things get a little wonky sometimes with the big stone foundation blocks I’ve noticed. Sometimes just having one layer of dedicated small blocks wrapping around the foundation and connecting to the top seems to help. I could be wrong though. And it’s so much stone to mine 😮‍💨

Hmmm. Interesting. Maybe walls are doing something weird? 90% of my fort is made from the foundation blocks. And I just kept using stone all the way up until I built the final wooden watch tower. And it’s mostly solid stone with very little hollow spaces

Felt i needed to share this bit of comedic episode from earlier tonight as i was working on my submission.... Wife wanted a house in the build. So naturally i oblige and i built this house here in Ketchfall Haven for her. She wanted me to build a house for her while she ran around collecting shells, because decorations..... rather nice house with a gable window, 2 stories, front porch, second floor balcony out back... what does she do? She tells me its now the town brothel with 3 beds upstairs and used the workbench inside the front door as the "check in desk" and decided she would be the town den mother... then she decided each of the storage chests next to the beds needed to have an Elixir of Firm Hand for obvious reasons.... that is all

Biggest thing is to know when to let go, you will just make yourself crazy and start making mistakes if you keep spirialing in on the same build. That another main reason why I submited early, the build felt complete, and any further nitpicking would have led me to destroying everything and buulding something else

legs seem to be about 26-28 blocks will support on other piers

thats currently 45 blocks high still stable at the top

also the small piers only cost 1 wood

I'd like to he able to use the stone foundation blocks as stairs too. My brother and I tried using the stone foundation as stairs, just to add that "older" feel to the build, but you can't walk up the foundation blocks like stairs unless they're just BARELY lowered on the next step.
