Game loading is shaders/cache loading plus write speed of your hard drive/ssd so no. Game will take awhile

no its not a matter of it taking awhile... it sits at the loading screen for awhile, and then dumps me back to the start screen. no errors. Ive only actually gotten in once after bouncing my video settigns back and forth

If you’re joining anything online rather then your own solo save, it will kick you time to time it happens to everyone. Sometimes it’s one try and other times it’s two

You might have to restart the server. When you start the game your server is still live updating to reset the mines based on the time but server might not count as that. @polar violet yes it has to do with the connection it’ll kick once like 70% of the time and other times you get lucky and get it first try it’s just a coop thing on this game

frigate wasn't too bad. do your shipbuilding on a separate island. that way you don't accidently use earmarked resources, use your excess copper for nails

Sadly I think from 0 materials frigate only took maybe 4 hours but that was waiting on materials to craft so don’t worry - just buy tiny of flax seeds(you only like 3 seeds it’ll turn into a lot of seeds eventually) so you can farm everything except flax

I almost died when chopping a Divi tree that spawned a bit too close to a second one. The moment I chopped through it, it EXPLODED into me, destroying the other tree and shaving off most of my life. o.o;

My brig has Iron Resolve bc its Brethren. My Frigate has Keelhold and its blackbeard. No matter what you pick, make sure you ascend it like you do with your swords and other weapons bc it makes a big difference

The idea of Privateers was for the British to send out units that were not difficult to maintain and could attack their rivals easily (Spain being a top target.. Some of the first attacks were against their merchant ships)

They had republic of pirates back then, it was the pirate government. I think it was like 1710-1715 when British, spain and such started

Later on they did yes but the Privateers didnt start that way.. They were frequently far from Britain and didn't have constant communication. More or less they got the idea to form their own group.. what later became known as Pirates. They had the skills to make it happen as they had been attacking Rival nations for some time before then

Or they started at the same time, pirates themselves were the democracy before any of them came and said.. maybe we should stop pirates. Pirates then got nuked eventually and here we are

That is a bit more complicated.. A lot of pirates were hunted down because of bounties being posted but, some were too good to simply kill. And so nations (not only Britain) decided to give them pardons.. essentially you will avoid the noose if you fight for us. The ones that did get pardons were sent after Pirates yes

I understand what you mean by privateers but that was the British, Spain and French profiting of the pirates instead which was known as privateering. It was a little different wouldn’t call the British and such pirates by any means just profited - million dollar business idea ya know

Privateers were in a lot of ways the start of the pirates because a lot of those early British Privateers turned on their home country realizing that they could get glory and gold far better on their own, rather than following the orders of the King and Queen

Ok I see where the disconnect is.. let me try explaining a new way.. BEFORE the Pirates were even a concept or part of this world, Britain launched the Privateers. They were given Letters or Marque which more or less licensed them to operate on their own. From there, Britain asked them to attack their rivals (Spain being a top target). That is why I said earlier that their disconnect from Britain was most likely the start to them becoming pirates

Not that I know of as of yet, you can try graphics of everything fully off and low and test that way. I haven’t really noticed since I don’t have that situation but you can’t attempt that way

Yeah golden age is different though pirates came first, privateers second then they profited off of pirates in lamest terms. That’s all it was. No need for fancy labels or dates. The profits or to weaken enemies were during the golden age though

History is one of those "it depends on who you talk to". To most they think that was the turning point because the Privateers that defected were the most experienced out of the pirates.. a lot of them were formal Royal Navy

Nexus actually had a problem with another game I forget which where people had a whole bunch of fake mods that were backdoors. There was two other sites that did it as well.. and yes we can blame them because they state they read all mods before allowed the upload - this happened 2 years ago it was another survival game

which the mods are usually ontop of. the only time I recall of where things slipped (at least in recent times) was the Skyrim mods. the mods were too busy removing VERY sus Skyrim mods (so not necessarily back doors but super adult content) that they were overwhelmed.. they couldnt handle everything

The game that got released had people uploading a lot of mods it got like over 100,000 people to learn not to mod ever again. All the modding sites got back lash. To be fair though the site put on the main page not to download any mods for that specific game as they were some how getting on the site.

I am not sure when that is but Nexus mod has improved by adding additional layers of code and virus detection. they also removed the ability to download mods as a guest. you have to have an account to download mods

It is better by the way. Linux is better just not for anti cheats for fps. Better for no bloat (so fps, temps, cpu load) but then you got windows lite which less bloat as well made for gaming but Linux is basically 1% cpu load at all times until a game opens

I would say the issue isnt so much of too many cannons its whether or not the game can allow for tactics to over come it. Take history as an example.. those small combat ships would often times come in at full sail, lob a bunch of grape shot or something else.. to damage big ship masts or crew then promptly leave (after they crippled it) because a sustained fight would be the end for those 1 gun deck ships

in our friendgroup, one of them purchased a nitrado server. its been working pretty well, but every now and then (30mins - an hour) the server kicks us all off and we have to rejoin. does anyone have a solution to this or will we just have to deal with it

Not a high end one - that could mean something reaching its max(usually ram) and that means server is doing a quick restart to refresh the memory. That would be my guess. If you’re getting kicked and cmd isn’t showing restart then that could be a connection issue to the host. But I would guess it’s doing a restart from hitting a limit. If that’s the case the only fix would be an upgrade if it restart(it usually tells you why it’s restarting - due to the lack of something whether that be console or a log) and if it’s just straight disconnect then no. That’s a host to client connection issue which can happen on multiplayer depending on server locations

I can’t even find the base on their site for ram my guess would be 4GB @grave moon If ram is peaking then yes. The problem is it’s hard to tell what you need for it. Most people have their own computers for it and doing like 32 I would assume since the game isn’t optimized and if you’re at 4GB you can try 8GB but if they have one even at 10 or 12 those would definitely be better but I can see their packages to even know what the options are

Could be so many things it’s hard to eliminate. My guess would be since you switched it actually started using DLSS, there two other settings in correlation with it. So basically it you turn off DLSS two other settings are not needed. I don’t remember the name if I had a screenshot I would know but it’s usually the root cause. SteamOS doesn’t need to use this setting streaming from your device it just selects what is needed for your steamos(by steamos I’m only meaning your steam deck not the operating system)

The stream is reversed; I'm streaming my PC to Steam Deck, so I can play with my usual settings—in theory! I've played for 40 hours with them. Miraculously, disabling DLSS and enabling FSR made it work, although it doesn't make sense since it's a reverse stream and it was working before. It's all very strange! Thanks!

My apologies, you’re streaming to your steam deck which is lowering the quality automatically they do is sometimes when streaming games through steam it’s like streaming it from your pc to your phone. Not gonna be the same quality so the dumb it down a little

Best explanation is… once streamed the setting basically set towards you’re not playing on your pc anymore. Which means you probably connected before actually loading into a game first so it was automatic when streamed. DLSS can sometimes break computers depending on the GPU - Old drivers - drivers broken - Not set up properly for the game - high quality mixed with 4.5 DLSS enabled. There’s a mix of things that could of did but doing that is usually the best way to fix it

Fortunately, I don't see any significant changes when switching to FSR. I don't actually use the Steam Deck screen to play, but rather the PC screen. I use the deck because the controls allow me to play with my hand in a cast.

I lowered the screen brightness of the deck to the minimum for longer battery life.

Probably since it was connected it just disabled 4.5 DLSS which can be auto enabled on the new update of nvidia app. When switching to FSR you probably just disabled 4.5 which can cause games to crash. Nvidia probably had it auto enabled but it really doesn’t do all that much games so no point of having it. Reflex is a big one too if you don’t have DLSS zero point of really having it on. Early access games you really don’t need that stuff so not much to worry about

As long as you can play again that’s all that matters, just trust the process

I think it's some kind of strange cross-compatibility, a bug from a recent patch perhaps. When streaming from the PC to the deck, there shouldn't be any change in the graphics configuration on the PC, only a drop in image quality or latency on the deck. But since I'm not using it for viewing, it's not something that affects me.

I would absolutely recommend using reflex regardless of DLSS as they don't really have anything to do with each other. Reflex reduces latency between frames and DLSS is AI frame generation.

Definitely something is active with DLSS, and even though my RTX 4060 is compatible, if the PC crashes while transmitting to the deck, it still tells the game it's not compatible. No idea! Very strange indeed.

Ultimately, Steam Deck uses a kind of AMD (Although in a reverse transmission this makes no sense)

Steam deck from what I remember they had it so if you streamed it counted as using the screen and even though you’re using as a gamepad they disable setting that their graphics can’t run even though it’s not off in the settings. @timid crescent it’s for cpu and gpu synchronization and in reality if you use amd you’re perfectly fine with it off. It’s good for actual fps games not games like these

Reflex is for reducing system latency - has zero to do with DLSS. In the vast majority of cases you're better off having reflex enabled.

When you broadcast a game to the steam deck you're not using the steam deck's GPU/APU. Your desktop is doing the work rendering the frames using your desktop GPU.

There is a setting on steam that does automation for streaming I don’t know what it’s called and if it’s automatically on. Also @timid crescent the thing is with the ai of 3/4/4.5 can cause input lag, without DLSS on you lose that input lag that it would cause. Reflex was more or less adding during 3/4 when ai came out to counter the input lag that’s my reasoning for no needing it. Some people feel like it might feel better with it but in any games besides fps I don’t feel a difference personally unless DLSS is on so that’s the only time reflex comes on to slap the ai

Reflex reduces input lag, I can see DLSS increasing it though. Unless the game itself is taking full advantage of the fake frame generation that DLSS provides, you probably shouldn't be using it.

I have noticed that DLSS does increase my FPS with my 4070 Ti

Game isn’t fully optimized to probably even keep up with 4.5 in my opinion. I understand the reflex I don’t see a point to have it on without DLSS. That’s just my personal opinion so I stick with it. They added a setting to counter the ai so why use it if I don’t use DLSS for these games

FSR is just the optimized version all rounder because it doesn’t compute as much. Less haul on your gpu. Probably the best one to pick for every early access and some even fully released if not optimized. Also good for amd users since it is made by amd. Also I’ve had 7 people with this issues and for some reason they’re all AMD cpu users.. I know it’s gpu problem at least I think so as for some reason windows and the game isn’t showing their crash errors when I tell them where to look. It’s just strange

So you used an old save? There could be an extra one under their world folder. My guess is they have a restore point if it’s only every couple days to try and prevent that. I always recommend everyday before you log off you get the save from the world folder and put it in your desktop. Dedicated or coop

So you didn’t renew old? Sometimes they leave storage for a couple days before deletion or you just bought a new one. Some providers keep backup files of the whole server depending on which provider. You could message them with the server number you have through email and see if they have a backup of the character files. Also characters should be separate progress so should save your stuff even if you logout why world is more important. Yeah I just checked mine. It’s independent on my computer so I can go from a dedicated, solo or coop.. meaning it should have been saved to your person computer. It makes no sense it did not either that or cloud corrupted some how or a name change

I have like 60 different survivals non of them keep buffs on death and almost 90% do give health off food or by a talent. In return for health they give you a refund health hit talent.

Well I gave a suggestion you can try it or not. Windows also has fast boot so shut down is just sleeping meaning ram cache stays normal and vram cache so if you do shutdown give it a restart to refresh all cache

Whoever told you that is crazy. I hosted 64 GBs on a server hosting 32 and that wasn’t enough I had to up it to 128 on a bare. I would say if he has his own servers he should be able to have 64 or 128 like most servers if not he can use two for it and combine to make it 32.

Same protocol as you would with gmod or rust cmd download just have to personally set it up after installed and change a few things @young light comparing more optimized games to this is something else though especially ue5

Using Proton or Wine to run it on Linux is not the same thing what so ever, and they do not support running it on Linux.
