Valheim was really well received and is a staple of the genre. It sounds like you want a live service AAA game, not an early access survival crafter. It's bizarre to throw around dead game accusations for early access titles that are still under active development

I tend to set my expectation for a game based off my hours of enjoyment per dollar spent. I'm over 30 hours now so i definitely made back what i put in. Hopefully they keep a-comin with updates!

I spent 30, played it for 80hrs, not even done with main story. I was so into the game. Watched build videos, sailed around looking for a new island to start building on. I was super hyped even with the crashes I still kept going. Now I can't even play because new update now freezes my game. 82hrs spent and was still having a blast.

Laws are being made to protect players from early access games being abandoned. California is also making a law that’s on the verge of being passed called Protect Our Games Act. Which means that a game a game has to be playable no matter what. If not a studio has to refund the players. Also the EU is starting to take things seriously too and are probably going to make similar laws to protect gamers.

Ashlands ||provided no massive unforeseeable event happens|| should be ready as slated - we've seen plenty of footage thus far, and if the pattern of New Region = New Ship, New Gear, New Materials, etc. continues ||which we have no reason to believe otherwise||, then we should have a good chunk of stuff to tide folks over again

Invariably someone will blow through all that content and then complain within the same day as the update, but such is life with any game community

Y’all be wildin!! Windrose is a solid game and is barely over a month into early access. Talk about wanting instant gratification… Let em cook! They are really onto something and targeted a niche audience. Those who are enjoying the game may stop playing for a short while but as new biomes get introduced they will come back. The next biome is already introduced but I’d be surprised if there weren’t more to come afterwards, as well as new factions, build sets, ships, characters, etc! The other edge of the map is grayed out for a reason, not to mention it can easily be expanded past that.

put the rear facing cannon attached into a chute that funnels the cannonball all the way around in a 180 so it also comes out the front of the ship after a second to add extra damage to the enemy but still negate the front thrust. I'm sure that's how physics works. Trust me.

are you certain your download completed correctly and that all of your files are good?

• Open the folder where Steam is installed
• Navigate to the "Logs" folder
• Open content_log.txt using a suitable program like Notepad or Notepad++
• Search failed or corrupt - identify whichever files are being flagged as such
  you can see what is going on, and can maybe get a better idea for troubleshooting

I am not certain about Wind Rose specifically but I can say in general.. GPU Driver updates only do so much. There are other things that help like resolution. There is a reason that for certain devs or game testers, that 1080p is the standard. Its because early in a game's development cycle, it is able to handle 1080p better than say 1440p

you cant turn off collision entirely, but you can disable "snapping" by pressing P and that will give you finer control

There has been discussions about introducing Small Combat Ships to the end game of Wind Rose (like a Caravel for instance). I suppose it would be possible to add more cannon types later on as part of that but the issue is if you add too many, balancing will be difficult

I know Wind Rose isn't aimed at realism but I am JS.. in the 1600's when Pirates were more common.. 8, 12, or 18 pounders were the most common with them. Only the British Navy ever used 24, 36 or 42 pounders. That is because the Brits had the Foundry capability for ensuring they could make high quality

I am not opposed to Realism but some Devs do not handle that well. You have better luck with "casual" or "arcade" style usually. For me personally, I would just like small combat ships for Wind Rose. Preferably the ones that actually had cannons. Only 2 types to my memory had 16 guns (8 on each side)

personally, all I've done in the past is deleted whichever files the log marked as failed or corrupt
Steam will then try to get new correct versions of those files when you next try and launch the title

I havent tried but a crows nest interaction was asked for in the Suggestion (well more ship interactions). I think that will likely be a big ship thing if they proceed with the small and large combat ship path

first run was rapiers as i love fast attack in games, second run used great sword, halberd etc... to see big numbers and honestly big damage makes the game easier, might try full ranged next

IIRC passive reload works on any gun in your hotbar....so if you level that up a bunch you can keep shooting lol

Indeed.. that is the idea.. to provide an agility weapon that is not as focused on AOE but hits hard while having speed (presently its the Halberd and Great Sword as the heavy hitters)

If your ship is docked you can make a ladder to get up in your crows nest. Once up there u can destroy the ladder and walk around on the ship's own little platform and take screenshots. Just thought it would be cool to be able to access it at sea

Ah that explains it. Steam refined it then made their own version called Proton. They created Proton prior to the Steam Deck.. to ensure they could do it that way. If you look at Proton DB website, that literally tells you which games work or dont work using Proton. Its usually games with Anti Cheat that doesnt work

Considering you can capture a ship just by smashing it enough, the historical purpose of chain shot is kinda redundant. I FOUND THE BUG. Hosting in multiplayer AFTER changing setting does not save the changes! You have to change settings -> launch in single player, -> exit single player -> host world. It should have changed the difficulty now

I moved them to somewhere off the side of my base for making the place feel more realistic and found that was helpful

There's also a mod on Nexus that you can grab that turns all the smoke off.
The devs also talked about having them not smoke when they aren't in use.
But yeah, I agree it's ridiculous amounts of smoke.

Build them a chimney stack surrounding them! Just leave it open above this will hide most of the smoke!

All the plants should be in the B build menu, somewhere. You don't have to have them on the bar like that.

I highly recommend never having anything to do with a group called water rat cove. I was willing to overlook the use of an AI, a mod for PVP that was regulated, but shutting down the server on a whim after weeks on a massive project, and I was not able to get a copy of the server intact for my own personal use.

The bell to the iron mine, straight shot, means it's quicker to get in and out. Less garbage plant fibers and goat bladders filling my inventory on an iron haul. But it's not really needed for that mine. It is mild convience using the infinite stone in that mine.

The tumbaga ingot run. THAT needs some serious walling off unless you want to wade through 500 lv 15s, some of them starred, each time you want a shiny bar.

I had the same problem, and had to download more RAM. >.>
Which bumped me up 20 fps in town, as well as 20 fps on the ocean.
I was running about 6gb from windows and all the junk, and 10gb to windrose, but it was redlining my ram. Now I have 32gb, and with the game running it sits at about 16.5gb total usage. That 0.5 was really hurting me in the city...
