the first base i built was so cooked, that when i got my frigate, i couldnt even spawn it within range of the wharf because the water depth wasnt deep enough. and then when i finally spawn the frigate, its not within range of the wharf lol

The ranges are weird. Close enough to spawn it, not close enough to use the wharf or access the inventory. Like......my brother under the emperor will you quit being moody

No, you can drop your helm and go hang off of your own rigging. You'll probably start a fight before you get back to the helm, but thats because blackbeard has more ships on patrol than the royal navy at it's peak.

Server lag isn't just based on people. It's based on the server region, your region, your internet, and what type of server it's being hosted on.

Yea but all headshots are is 100% crit chance. With reliable musket crit damage on everything is insane

perfect blocking is definitely the way to go with gs i'm finding. the stamina i would spend dodging at early levels is damage i'm not dealing while their posture is broken from the perfect block. and the 3 min cooldown is significant, so i only really use it in a pinch

Weapons are all kinda good, I'm having major decision paralysis. Want to either use the Plague Halberd or GS (stalwart/Souleater most likely) and have to decide how many talents and how many armour perks you want defensive or offensive sustain damage or offensive crit. Tell me what works if you have tested more than me please.

Like there is the damage reduction as a talent on the left, as a 4 piece bonus, or a 2 piece bonus. then stamina reduction for attacks 2 piece fili, the crit stuff on privateer, and then talents you have to usually pick left for more defensive ones and right side for more crit or +2h damage, struggling how to choose haha. Currently have all on the right side Bonecrusher, Executioners Aim, Massive and Dominating Presense (Plague Halberd)

My only worry about a pet gunboat is the risk that it'll start shooting at me (and it's right up on my fortress). Don't want to risk structural damage.

I already killed about 40 dudes on it. Shame there's no crew cap that if you kill over X the ship goes inert and can be claimed or somethin' like that. I want a peppy li'l jerkboat!

yeah, I've been on enemy ships without boarding a few times. I just rampage until I get bored 😄

to add further - boarding is very step-by-step trigger procedure.
Everything plays coreographed untill u see enemy and ally NPCS loose their AI and waving weapons in general enemy direction like everyone is blind, drunk or both.
Then u kill set number of enemies, they instantly surrender, mount ur ship and wait for triger to insta kill the enemy ship. Inorganic, rigid and suffers everything that makes ground combat unfun
Naval combat tho... peak for me

got 'em penned in with piers now, but the ship has gained the appearance of damage states (the sails are all ripped to hell). I did try shooting it with me blunderbuss, as shooting it gives me the hit damage ui.

You're right that it feels a bit too procedural. If there were a number of points to achieve and different methods gave more points (like a dragon's breath blunderbuss to the first guy's upper torso should be worth more in the shock-and-awe department than just stabbin' a guy). Or something. Chances are there's going to be an evolution of the process in the future, and from what the game's delivered so far I trust these devs 😄

I think that's what'd going on. I was happily building away on the other side of my fortress and I just hear this crash smash and the sound of planks crackin'. Super surprised to see this doofus jammed up on it.

But I guess it's a pet gunboat for me, until it despawns when I fast travel or it does take a shot at my fortress and I level that pier with broadsides to save my many-many-hours-of-building 😄
