3. cannons, previously decorations, can be used to shoot at ships in the sea to slow down the barrage (limit X amount)
4. people you've hired can help defend the city
5. if you win, awesome loot, if you lose, they take 10% of materials, drops and coin total in the bonfire area (yes people will exploit this but what ya gonna do)
6. your prize total is based on the amount of loot in your bonfire before,during and after the fight, so no risk, no reward

Yeah, it did the same to me. Then I found out I had my memory speed set at the default 2666 instead of the 3200 the ram was rated for. After resetting the speed, the game went from eating 15gb to 12gb.

The ram stick itself will usually have it's recommended speed written on it physically.
Figuring out what the max speed of the stick is through windows however, is tricky.

I'm pretty sure that 4800mhz is stock speed for ddr5, and your ram might go higher.

That's not a fix really, it's the devs (engine devs rather than game devs in this case) pushing the cost of doing a poor job onto their end users rather than optimising things properly. And once 23/64GB is the norm, they'll be even lazier at making their code performant, so all that extra muscle will get soaked up for the most marginal increase in visuals. Sadly, there are too fewer gamers willing to call this out, and far too many who are proud of being pushed into buying overpriced hardware every couple of years.

IMO, you only need 1 out of strength / agility / precision. Just go for the one that matches your weapon. Also, in the early game, weapon scaling is low so those aren't so important anyway. Endurance and Vitality will help you so much more. Early endurance is so brutally low it really limits your ability to do anything.

Well if you go the table route, that is one way to sync maps and makes it so you can't start the game with it, which would make sense. Tier 2 or later would probably make the most sense but WOW. makes the game more enjoyable instead of an hour getting your bearings.

Some people completed that PoI where the Jesus Needs A Hug statue wanted 20 meat and 3 oil with a full inventory, and then the boar whistle just kinda falls into the bowl or through the world, never to be seen again.

There does seem to be some weird consistency about what will spawn and when though. Like, I've seen where bonfires will stop enemies and certain resources from respawning, but then I've also seen a bonfire placed down inside a copper mine and the copper respawned around it and buried it.

But then the patch of clay just inside my friend's bonfire range wouldn't respawn for like two weeks, then one day it suddenly did

and then, I also tried putting one down at the one shipwreck with all the drowned that drop keys to open locked chests, where the silver ingots respawn in ancient vases...

My hope was that the bonfire would keep enemies from spawning so I could easily go farm the silver without dealing with them, but it didn't do anything at all.

I think it would be good for fast travel to need a courier boat of some kind per route, with a dedicated dock at either end. The current "drop a bell and teleport anywhere" mechanic makes the world feel too small IMO, but having no fast travel at all would be unbearably grueling

Right. I'd keep those as fast travel locations obviously, just that you need to invest a boat (sloop or something) to activate fast travel to them from your main base. Rather than have it be freely available as soon as you drop a bell. The only think I really dislike about the fast travel is the: drop a bell, teleport out, empty your pocket, teleport back, pick up bell loop which kills any feeling of distance the game has.

I would be a fan of like a collection radius. So if you build a base, it will slowly tick lets say peppers up in its inventory if they are nearby, or clay or whatever.

Would give a reason for multiple bases and shared inventory with shipping lanes to give more life on the water, chance of intercepting a pirate fleet from attacking your supply line. Maybe able to hire more people to pilot allied NPC ships and defend themselves.

Sure, you can do that. I think that's probably the most immersive way of playing the game that doesn't involve spending 90% of your time sailing back and forth. But it's just faster and more efficient (in terms of keeping that high comfort bonus) to simply teleport back and forth to your main base every time your pockets are full, from wherever the closest coast is.

I'm always perplexed by people who think games shouldn't have any difficulty outside combat. They're fine with needing to git gud to beat a boss, or to stay away from an area because you're not high enough level for the enemies there. But they have a knee jerk rejection to the suggestion that sailing is a skill you could improve at in game, or have kit that changes how you interact with it, or that where you explore next might depend on the wind. For some reason, if it's not combat, it's annoying.

Well the swamp enemies all have the plague. It would make some sense that they wouldn't attack each other. A wolf attacking a goat though, makes perfect sense.

Indeed. I think Sid Meier's pirates does wind right, even though it's only lightly realistic. It's not all that restrictive, but is just enough to give an additional tactical elements to battle, and to encourage you to explore somewhere else occasionally. Plus the storms rewarded taking a little risk now and them.

Thanks for the offer, but I'm good. I just think it's one of the very few main-upgrade resources where the drop rate is undertuned. More of a balance complaint than a dead end for me.

It would be fun at times but when i come home after work and wanna blow up some pirates i just dont wanna be fighting the enviroment. It would be interesting to turn it on and play around but I'd probably never use it

Thank you! At least make it toggleable. Brigs were the most common Pirate ship. For the fact of speed and a few other things. In current Windrose. After you get the frigate. There is no reason to use the ketch or brig.. wind based sailing would make them at least a little more viable

It's early access, there is still a lot of content to place in , when we gain the release of Windrose then Kraken could probably bring an online version to cure the urge and fight pve/ leviathan/kraken/plagued among the seas and islands? who knows, this game really is a pirate pinaccle of a game. Yep, agree. I even think that having mast/rigging options (like for cannons or hull plating) so you could choose between square rigging for downwind speed, fore-and-aft for more tacking options, or lateen for cross wind optimisation. But, it's not combat related. And a large proportion of mainstream players think that any mechanic outside combat that restricts their ability to do what they want, when they want, is inherently annoying and tedious. That's just gaming culture, can't do anything about it sadly unless you go into much more niche indie games.

it has more and bigger guns though and more health. It can definitely still get shot to shreds, but it takes more of a beating before that happens

getting shot to shreds is more dependant on your ship gear Lvls and your skill as a helmsman, rather than the ship model you're sailing

Agreed. And even if they just wanted to add a very basic one. Kind of like SoT where you’re slower against the wind than fast with it. Even something as simple as that would change things. A big reason why the tryhards use the sloop in SoT is because it’s faster against the wind.

it seems that way, but the brig(at least the blackbeard one) also dies a lot faster. My Frigate is practically untouchable unless I get into a fight with like 12 level 15s at once

so I thought the extra firepower and speed would be an advantage, and it kinda is, but you gotta be more careful about what kinda fights you get into. When I got it I was like "holy crap, I'm invincible" and got into WAAAY too big of a fight... lost my ship almost immediately

yes i can kite and survive just struggle to kill in time to outpace my survivability range in t3 i just cant go to t3 with my main character because i have friends who are slower paced and we are in t2 as a group so i figured if i could get my hands on the last two pieces i need for the frigate i could just play pirate captain with a different character and go fight stuff up there

I think I got out and to the helm just in time to witness the last two or three cannon blasts, then I had to take my dingy on a LONG sail back home while being chased and shot at 90% of the way. It was funny and scary at the same time because I wasn't entirely sure if I was just getting lucky with their bad aim, or if the dingy was invincible

@sharp yoke what I'd rec is just FT to any swamp island you have a bell on, summon your brig so that you have a broadside facing the island - then just shoot until you feel enough trees have fallen to make it worth going ashore - you'll get enough tar and wood very quick that way

I don't think it's necessary, and even with them both being perfectly ordered, they don't reload at the exact same speed... plus the buff perfectly ordered gives seems to depend on the specific set of guns. I think it's increased reload speed when you get a hit... well if you hit with one and miss with the other, the one you hit with will reload faster... but the smaller guns reload a little bit faster anyway
