The XP system is very deliberate to motivate you to explore the game and progress quests, and to give you a matching challenge while doing so. If you can just kill level 1 drowned for 500 hours and get to max level, the quests and exploration will be completely boring due to the lack of danger.

Question. Until now I used Precision weapons (Reliable Musket, Sturdy Rapier, Rapier of Devastation etc.). I'm now getting in to Blunderbusses so I'm switching to Agility (Razor, Reliable Blunderbus etc.). But the damage numbers on the Reliable Blunderbuss are way lower than on the Reliable Musket. Like ~4300 vs ~9600 crits on the same enemy. Is this because it shoots multiple pallets (and I just see 1 of them hit with on screen damage numbers) or what? Enemies do seem to die just as fast, so I don't really get the lower numbers.

Blackbeard ships are the exception, they can use guns one size larger. You could disassemble your current ship for a full refund and rebuild as a Blackbeard variant, if you wanted to use those guns.

I use all the spare stone in the iron mines to make waist high fences every ten yards or so. Specifically so when the goat does spawn behind me, he doesn't get very far.

If its within your base radius then no, not if you cut it down. and remove the stumps. Otherwise ones in the wild respawn but its like many many irl hours to respawn. same with Ore

Currently, no. But if it's just the helm you don't like, set bonuses cap at 4 items, so you can choose a different hat with no stat loss as long as you upgrade it.
