Phil probably is trying to fit some advanced classes on "Block oriented". Probably to lessen the Ehp from Int based classes said that they can increase dex to improve cast speed and block. It's a impopular choice of development but like he said: "I think these changes are in the right direction, keep in mind things are always changing".

Shields already have only one socket for cards. Block card for acessories? Could be a thing if we delete bronze plugs from existence!
I myself almost quit after the patch cause knights have been nerfed for idk 5 patchs in a row but after playing a bit and seeing how things really are i dont mind the change anymore.
Hopefully summoners will get their nerfs too
nerf was good, you are not supposed to tank an entire map with a mage class
But the issue is if u want to nerf u can increase stats requirement i do not mind but totally remove it is a lazy thing idea make by the developer of doing like that no one wants to play tank already (Once game release i bet no one will every play tank because of this nerf and if there is PVE dugeon in future all will play dps (Total wipe)). Even other MMORPG games such as POE 2 or Diablo 3 they did make block rate no so OP not totally removing but instead increase the stat requirement like every 4 points on Dex increase 1% Block rate so this can control as points are limited
For shields they can also increase socket slots not like cannot. U see ROMC how many slots can a shield equip. for cards they can actually limit to 1 card per equipment (Meaning u cannot equip another similar card on the same equipment)
What you're talking about? Path of Exile has a tree which has more than a thousand points to spend and create a build + ascendancy.
Diablo 3 is even more awful cause for like 3 or 4 seasons plaguedoctor + arcanist were way too broken or garbage. Crusaders were never in the top tankness in the game too

But for POE 2 they use points for its talent tree so each character can have at most x amount of points and since the trees has many talent they have to add only certain skill
Dude i have more than 2k hours on PoE/8 leagues with 40 challenges complete and a 300hrs on PoE 2. What Grinding Gear Games does only applies to their system and shouldn't be lightly taken as inspiration. Most of their uniques don't have utility, half of the classes are ultra bad every league, they created immortal builds a few times etc.
Point is: GGG is not a case where you can rely to create your own game.
Again i suggest you to read the exchange of ideas that they proposed there before typing things you don't even understand. I'm against what Howie proposed but they had a point. The game feels awful for knights rn i know and that doesn't mean things will be that way till release. Read things, do maths and chill bro
Why are we comparing this game to PoE or Diablo? is this is a true RO inspired game you should be able to kite mobs without relying on block
