I now it's very earyl but i started working an a little info webiste / database. I started with maps as this was the easies (least information). Monsters and Cards will be next. I'll also add a better design and search / filter functionality.

I've started working on a stat calulator too I'm missing formulas. Maybe someone (or even Phil ;)) can help me out with that.

It's still running on a temporary domain but that should be fine conseringe the game is still in play test phase πŸ˜„

for now i guess the best thing we can do for this kind of database/fansite is to make a good baseline for a layout and DB, as there will be a lot of changes to values (stats, droprates, item per monster, etc)

I also thought about hosting a Wiki already did this for another game. Need to think about what would be the best way to integrate it with the current site because the database approach also has it's advantages.

In general help is always welcome I just need to figure out for myself what's the best way. Just started this page without a full game plan πŸ˜†

I definitely want to have the data in the database because I want to create a simulator that has character stats + equipment stats.
But a Wiki has some obvious benefits of collecting knowledge.
Maybe I keep the lists with filters on the website and have the individual pages in the Wiki and link to them....
I'll set up an Wiki and try it out.

I finished setting up a Media Wiki: https://spiritvale.info/wiki/Main_Page
It's currently still under construction so I disbled editing and registration. I still need to install some Extension (spam protection and some other stuff). I will most likely wipe the wiki when the setup is done. So currently I only created some test pages: https://spiritvale.info/wiki/Cactus_King

My idea would be to have the base data like level and element on monsters in the database but everything else can be done in the wiki. For boss monsters this could be information how to fight them. For equipment which builds they are used in and so on.
I think this way we have the best of both world. A database with filters search functionality and the ability to use the data in other tools and a wiki that can be used to collect the knowledge of the whole player base.

Ok I think I found everything I need for a nice integration. I'll set it up tomorrow and do some testing so see if it work the way I imagine πŸ˜„
I should be able to directly link content from the website on the wiki pages like monster elements, levels, ... And also auto detect wiki pages that have been created and auto-link to those from the website.

Monster Drops are now available. The drop tables are not 100% finished, some drops might still be missing and the % are a mix of old and new ones but it should be a good orientation for now.
It's also possible to search for the item name on the monsters page. Filters are now saved and read from the url so it's possible to share links:

Update:
I added some basic class info the the site. The skills are still missing the detailed description I'll work on that once the remaining items are done but I think it's still a nice first info.

Next on my ToDo is adding the last missing items and setting up the Wiki. My plan is to link the database directly to the wiki so we don't have mismatching information but I'm kinda running out of time so instead I will try to focus on setting up a basic installation with spam protection only and add other features later on once they are fully tested in a local dev environment.

Once this is done I will work on quality of life updates like tooltips.

I finally finished the setup process of the wiki and configured everything. (https://spiritvale.info/wiki/Main_Page) It's not perfect but it should be good enough for now. Registration is open. Everyone is welcome to contribute. I added a little guideline to the main page as a note but I do not want to dictate what should and shouldn't be added to the wiki. That should be a community decision.

I finished adding Cards and Euipment. If you find any of those item ingame that are not listed in the database please let me know so I can add it. An screen of the image would be ideal.

I also started updating everything to the current version new items, updated drop chances, ...
But there are probably still some old values.

Latest improvement: The equipment list now shows the monster levels in the obtained column. (https://spiritvale.info/equipment)

Next on my todo are artifacts, sets, crafting, skills (better descriptions) and some general improvements like Tooltips

Sure, my current concept is stat + skills + equipment (including refinement and cards), then have a table that lists all stats gained from the different sources and then the combined values like HP, ASPD and so on.
And then some kind of method so save / share those builds maybe with additional texts

Update:
Next to the monster names (in the monster list and map list) you will see a red "Aggressive" and a blue "Skills" indicator. You can hover "Skills" to see which skills are used by the monster. It's also displayed in the tooltips.
I'll continue working on the build simulator soon.

Yes the idea was to use the Wiki for everything that is not suited for a database like game mechanics or just more detailed information.
I even did some tests to see how we could access database information on the Wiki so that we would have a single source of truth for factual values.

How do you feel about adding cross-linking functionality between the database from the wiki itself?

I'm going to spend some time setting up proper Categories for all the pages, and overtime those categories should allow a pull into the database.

Pros:

  • Certain aspects of the database can be influenced by the wiki, and will require almost zero input. The Guides section (https://spiritvale.info/guides) would be a perfect candidate because we can create specific categories for Guides, and further sub-categories for classes.

  • Will open up the possibility of expanding the website as needed as more wiki content is generated. If the community is filling out information, especially after patches, it'll be a quick method of getting details out.

Cons:

  • The very notion of content being pulled from the wiki would mean that the wiki will become a vector for inserting things into the website. Apart from the malicious actor side of things, anything from the wiki cannot be considered a source of truth, no matter how accurate it is.

  • It's work. Wiki stuff can change a lot of the time, and while I'm the only power user right now if the game becomes big enough you may end up with two or more people making fundamental changes to how the wiki works, and that's no bueno. Solution to this would be to lock pages though.

I'd say that it's more or less just a nice feature for automatically expanding certain things, and by no means important, and may not even be useful. Just wanted to put it out there.

In general I'm open for cross linking between the the database and the wiki in both directions. I already thought about for example auto detecting Wiki pages of monsters (bosses) and if a wiki page exists add a hint for more information on the database. Would should use the strength of each platform and redirect to it from the other platform in necessary.

It's currently only ranked by max level which isn't a good criteria.
In the future it's planned to add more leaderboards based on different factors like boss kills but as of now I don't have the required data.

Crafting locations are one of the few things that are manually managed still but that might change in the future πŸ™‚

Well if you're interested the official wiki side of things is still open.

I'm currently writing a script to scrape and format skill data so that I don't have to manually update 141+ skills every week, but there's so much stuff that needs to be done.

Once I get that and the main page done it'll be fleshing out the details.

Someone with a strong programming background can probably do more work on templates and whatnot, so let me know if that sounds right up your ally.

Not sure if I told anyone, but I'm working on an automatic skill script that will let me update all skills on the wiki at once.

Goal will be to create one or more JSON pages on the wiki backend that will be referenced by templates and modules. Then when a new update is released I can run the script to create the JSON file, and then upload it manually (for now).

I'm still working on my validation to prevent unreleased stuff from showing up, but once that is done and I have a working concept I will expand that to other things as well.

Small request on the new vending card searcher thingy:

Show the entire game's library of items in the dropdown list, including ones that are currently not in any shops.
For example in the images, I would like to see "Chick Card (0)" so players can see that there's currently a market void for certain items.

Good job, @craggy imp. Amazing work.
Btw some images from items and other stuff are missing. Do you have a way of checking automatically if they are working or not? There are many, and could be more in the future, who knows. Manually checking all of them might be a pain.

Maybe a simple function that checks if every image actually loads and lists those which do not complete loading after a couple of seconds would be helpful.

What if instead of just loading up all sections on the left we also had a single search bar right in front of us the moment we enter the website (keyboard focus there too) so we can just type whatever we wanna search for right away? It would save us a few clicks. A much faster user experience imho.

Also for anyone interested, I've been working on expanding the wiki side of things, and in about two weeks I plan to roll out some major updates across the board.

Main thing will be to lock down as many important pages as possible, such as the class pages, map pages, and more.

To give you somewhat of an idea of what I'm doing behind the scenes, getting a list of every place a skill could be used:

Very important distinction:

  • Boss (Monster)
  • Boss (Summon)

These are two very different game entities.

Summon versions get their own specific movesets, bosses get their original (6-8 skills plus Shadow Step, Enrage, and Last Stand)

Oh right, thanks! Might be a good thing to clarify somehow on the wiki, since I've already seen build guides advising specific boss summons under the assumption that the summoned versions have their boss version skillsets.

Something to look into, but I've been seeing several reports lately of players trying to track down specific vendors that are listed on spiritvale.info, only for the vendor in question to be absent from the map/server in question.

And there's been enough of these reports lately that I no longer think it's a game bug, but an issue with the site.

Vendors are only fetched every few minutes so there can be a short delay but it should be less than 5 minutes.
But I would need examples to verify it.

From what I can see no big changes other than the skills. I am still working ongetting the upgrades to the wiki done, so once I am caught up I will see about getting everyting included, like the skills usuable while silenced.

Currently running some tests on providing a detailed breakdown of skills on the wiki, and once I have it locked in I'll start adding in all the skills.

It will also include Monster skills as well!

The bug that old shops would show upn on the vending page should be fixed now. Please let me know if you still see shops listed that don't exist anymore. Please keep in mind that there might be a delay of a few minutes.

The website just received a major update. With the latest update our MediaWiki installation broke. @shadow ravine and I talked and decided to move away from MediaWiki and instead integrate the part directory into the website. The original diea behind the MediaWiki was to make it as easy as possible to contribute. However we noticed that the limitations of that platform outweighted the benefits. It took quite a bit but we finally migrated all relevant content from the MediaWiki to the website. The urls are still the same e.g. https://spiritvale.info/wiki/Materials but now we are able to use features like the tooltips.
The detailed skill information that was shown in the old wiki is still missing but it will be available, soon!Contributions from the community are still welcome. So if you want to help working on the wiki content either go to our GitHub page or contact the team.

Talking about the team: We now list all team members not only those working on the website: https://spiritvale.info/team

The home page also got visual update and more links (e.g. to the premium currency donation page): https://spiritvale.info/

@craggy imp Would it be possible to keep the information on the Info website updated more consistently alongside game patches?

I'm referring especially to the Database sections, such as Maps, Monsters, Cards, Gems, Equipment, and Artifacts.

The reason I'm bringing this up is that, at the moment, much of the information on the website is either outdated or incomplete, making it difficult to rely on as a reference. While players can still search for information in-game, the current in-game information system is not always sufficient either.

As a result, the overall experience of looking up game information can be quite frustrating. For example, item stats on the website sometimes do not match the actual in-game values, newly added content may not appear on the website, and certain mechanics or abilities are missing from the database.

That said, I'm not trying to pressure you into fixing everything immediately. I simply wanted to highlight how important this issue is for the player community.

Many players I speak with regularly encounter these problems, especially newer players. Common examples include not being able to find where certain equipment comes from, wondering why an item's stats differ from what's listed on the website, or being confused about why Weaver doesn't have the Taunt skill shown or mentioned in the available information.

I hope this can be considered for future updates, as having a reliable and up-to-date information database would greatly improve the overall player experience.

hi im a new player and was trying to find a staff around my lvl on the wiki, but there is no current way to sort the items. so i made a quick sorter to sort things like axes with the highest Atk or books with high Matk etc

Yes, help is always welcome especially on improving the frontend with features like that. Data should be fully updated "soon" but I don't really have the time to improve the website because we're trying to get everything ready for Steam Next Fest.
