#With season 1 progression rate time gating by a week is fine

If we had the same progression as we did in season 1 were it took nearly everyone a week to reach eternal anyways except for the handful that can play 12+ hours everyday

The main purpose of the timegate atleast from what the devs said is to give them a grace period on rebalaning broken heroes

That being said they could also just disable the leaderboards for a week and keep eternal open and this would also give them the same grace period

Timegating is the wrong solution to a problem they are creating themselves. In an Early Access game, it's expected balancing to happen mid-season.

If you need to do a balance pass after one week, do a balance pass after one week. There's no need to kill player agency over that. If you push heavily week 1 on one hero, you do so knowing that you don't know exactly what the balance will be from week 2. If you don't want that, you're free to take it slow. No need to take away the player choice.

The devs making decisions for the players or "protecting" players from themselves is classic Blizzard thinking. I can't be the only one who's here precisely because they don't like that.

. Them thinking they need to keep the leader board integrity is a joke. Especially after they've OK'd the use of literal exploits.
I want this game to be good, so badly. But every time they update us with news, I lose more and more hope.

This grace period for detecting broken heroes meaningless, coz we can find broken things only at some later levels of eternal, where you start to face some walls and need to optimise your gameplay

it could also lead to some heroes getting buffed and then being broken as a result. Example: Rime neck build is very strong if you have all the components for it but before that it is pretty weak. Putting it all together is like flipping a switch.
If they had balanced rime based on an incomplete week1 build without eternal gear and gems she would have ended up giga broken later on

if we had season 1 progression it wouldnt really matter though since 99% of the players didnt even get to eternal week 1 anyways

#

but regardless they can just disable leaderboards for 1-2 weeks instead of time gating

The main thing I can't understand is how could you really balance heroes without any supporting data from Eternal? For example, would they even know that Sylvie is underperforming in S2 without data from Eternal dungeons?
