#Solo Grind Mode

Although i like the woodland map, its very boring and has no real use other than for when you just start a character and need to unlock your talents. It would be nice to see some more solo based content, something thats more mechanically intense vs do you have the gear to do it. Something roguelike would probably suit this game best, clear floors of progressively harder foes. Torghast is a good example, although that was poorly implemented lol.

TL;DR Add more solo content, queues are getting way too long, being afk more than playing dungeons.

Cool idea and all, but adding more features that take away from group activities is probably not the play to make when we are losing retention in part due to slow ques. This would be something for much further down the line when/if the playerbase grows enough to sustain itself throughout an entire season.

We need atleast something "solo" because yesterday i was sitting AFK for about 4 hours straight cuz of <400 ppl online. Even if you wanna do something in game - you can't because there is no ppl to que anything. Atm we have only woodland but 2boxes and 1gold for quest is stupid joke as reward.

and i mean if there is no one you can play with, play something different?
the game serves a niche, its not your go to 24/7 i have something to do game, its not an MMO.
so if you dont find people to play with, post on discord, look for people in the long run, and play something else in the meantime? 🙂

in an ideal world there are 200k players online every minute, but its just not the case right now 🙁

Its not really useful tbh, the only use i had for it was to do the first 3 quests because they were super quick just to get my ult on whatever character

the game is 100% broken right now with the current queue system, and it is IMPERATIVE that they do something to drastically improve the situation. It really ought to be their #1 priority since it is literally a game breaking bug when people are unable to play the video game at all

I didn’t say it’s good.
I didn’t say it’s not broken.
I tried to find a solution for the person 🙂 post discord - add people - talk to them - find your group you connect with

Did the same in s1, now I have people to play with every evening if I want to / I rarely pug

Also interesting the more people that do this - because using the queue is just a bad experience - the worst the queue experience gets 😄

it’s like a dating app - you don’t actually want your people to find a match - you want them to use your service (the queue in our case) forever 😄

While organizing through discord as you say is a workaround we can use for now, i do think it's very important we don't conflate it with an actual solution. We absulutely can not afford to let the devs get the impression it is an acceptable state of the product that players must go outside of the game itself to find groups to enter content.

Most people simply will not bother using 3rd party tools, adding yet another discord server to their list, and manually sorting through messages + hitting people up + networking....just to be allowed to enter a dungeon.
But we 100% do want those players to buy the game and play the game and have a good time, right? So let's cater to them by imporving the in-game grouping utilities suppe_say_thumbsup

Especially if those challenges were teaching boss mechanics or overlapping trash mechanics.

The woodland zone is an excellent "band aid" for the queueing issues, yeah! It's just too shallow to work well beyond the initial few dungeons, but as a MVP / proof of concept it's a good job to whoever made it, i think.
More soloable content like that would be nice to fill in "dead time" while queueing

I could see something like an endless wave mob rush being added as solo content.
Waves would checkpoint so you can just re-enter the wave you left off and they’ll progressively get harder/more mobs as you progress.
Can even have a leaderboard and could even make it co-op

#

Think of something like OSRS fight caves, inferno and colosseum

sturdy jetty
#

Would be a sick mode for poeple who want to optimize for [survival / "managing to kill the content"] rather than just [time to finish]

#

it probably would make most sense with at least 2 people, since i think it's much harder for characters without any self-healing to survive alone. But it for sure has the potential to be a great idea!

Well the point of it being in leaderboards is seeing how far individuals can take each spec. I don’t think it would need anything extra.
Plus there could be power boosts/buffs dropped

sturdy jetty
#

Oh yea health pickups and such could be a cool idea!

#

Maybe separate leaderboard for each individual hero, and then a leaderboard for 2-man co-op mode? So people who care about it can have fun playing around with "muh optimal team comp synergy" peepoHappy

I think it could be just anyone who wants to join together. Think if you’re in a 3 man looking for a 4th but you can just jump into some waves to see how it is while waiting.

#

The main problem is not being able to play the game while in a queue

sturdy jetty
#

would you tie any rewards in to this game mode, or are you thinking purely for fun?

#

i think getting some resources at least would be fair

#

maybe not actual gear pieces as such

cedar wharf
#

Not sure, it could go both ways.
Probably different reward types for different group number and difficulty if anything.

#

Could probably easily give fellowship marks because those don’t directly fuel gear but allow you to buy mats to reroll.
I could also see them give supplies so you can buy the vendor box, cosmetics and even alt gear if you want.
Maybe some gold or even a loot box every few levels or major checkpoints.
With a progression track, could even tie one time gear drops or even a legendary like the current track along with nice chunks of gold, mats, gems.
Directly dropping gems would be nice too.

#

But I don’t really care about any of that stuff. I’d prefer to just have a fun/engaging activity to do while I’m queue or waiting for someone to log on

I'd love to play a Torghast mode

This being said, I do think solo content will only invite more solo content which imo would be a detriment to the game. So if their goal is only a coop game, then they should NOT add anything in that’s for solo even if it’s 4 man but easy enough to solo like the quest zone.
I already saw the plagues of “individual” play in there.
No one would run around together. Everyone did their own thing and ignored eachother. This is not how a multiplayer game should be. This is partly because quest progression being different, but then people would be popping in and out too.
So there’s definitely some issues with that quest zone that stems from it being able to be soloed and a design flaw which makes it optimal to continue playing it solo.

The more solo they add, the more solo will be requested to be expanded upon, until the solo players demand gear tracks to fully bis gear without ever touching multiplayer content, which imo, would be terrible for the game.

It’s definitely a slippery slope.

Also, adding more solo and PvE content would invite a lot more types of players to the game (money) which could be an overall plus for the game. Really depends on the devs design goals.

gear tracks to fully bis gear without ever touching multiplayer content, which imo, would be terrible for the game.
This would not be terrible for the game.
The best, most healthy, state for the game would be: As soon as you install the game, you already have all your characters fully geared, gemmed, with all talents unlocked and all available talent points gained, and every difficulty unlocked (including Eternal infinity).

Honestly the fact you have to waste hours and hours and hours repeating trivial content before the game allows you to enter a challenge, even with a full premade, is ridiculous and stupid.

@cedar wharf adam sandler what are you doing here?

Adding good ideas and discussing pros/cons

civic patrol

just no - any type of solo content is work that could have gone into something else.

as of right now the game is structured as a seasonal game. they need to figure out "their secret ingredient" that makes people want to come back every season. you can only do the same content so many times before people ask themself: "nothing really changed. why should i do this again?".

I don't think push eternal can be the only draw to this game.

It's too fleeting without a weekly box of disapppointment.
