#Gem Socket Install

I'm not sure how much development yall have put into the gem rework, but I have a suggestion for gem sockets.

Since gem upgrading resources eventually become "obsolete" after the gems fully upgrade.

Why not allow the gem vender to attempt to "socket" a piece of gear you insert into a new tab?

Green = 10% chance to add a tier 1 socket. (The same item shows up into your bag with or without the tier 1 socket)
Blue resource = 30% chance to add a tier socket. (The item shows three times all with a 10% chance to show a socket) you could add a chance to convert to an empowered if you want
Purple resource = Turns the socketed item to an empowered socketed item OR has a 30% chance. (Probably just 100% chance)

This would still keep that resource in the game and also allow people to keep a "bis" item if yall are into min max like that.

Just a quick thought, again not sure what yalls full idea or plan with gems are but a way to keep that resource important.

Happy to answer further questions on why or how it might work. I could probably even photoshop some pics if there's enough interest.
I also have an idea of gems cooking, but I think yall already have it all down anyways!

I think that neither random resource drops nor quickplay farming boxes for those resources are good ways of socket acquisition.

#

And making the craft itself RNG also goes against that.

One of the biggest issues with sockets (aside from their low drop rate in general) is how long you can get streaks of bad luck.

The resource drops aren't just random, you can purchase them at the mark vendor. Also, providing some form of RNG isn't bad considering after hard grinding that resource becomes completely useless unless you want to regem for a different stat. Which in it's best case scenario is one green resource per rerolled gem.
I get that theyre updating the way gems work, but I didnt read what they were doing so this is just a suggestion if they are still using the gem resources.

This would also pretty much nullify your "bad luck" as once you get the piece of gear you want to focus on, you have a pretty high chance of just eventually socket + empowering it. At best you can focus on just farming that resource you get knowing that every week you will empower one piece of socketed gear. Also, the purple gem resource is nice. I just don't really see it as "impactful" as the other resources in its current fashion. The blue resource gives you a 60% chance to get color you want. (Just a guess because I havent used it much but I didnt think uou can reroll the color your rolling.)

Just a thought as I've just touched into a good drop rate of gems, however id bet in about a week or so ill have hit the 92 drop limit which means at that point the gem resource has limited use which would make it obsolete after I upgrade to the best versions of them. Again, just thinking since I was told seasons are supposed to be longer then the stretch of time we have with this pre-season run.

#

Also iirc they might be updating the way marks work as well

drop rate seems to slow down the more you have

I see, they definitely are updating their gem thing either way. So less grindy is always nice. The gem resource isn't really used outside of after you get it and after theyre maxed it's a useless resource so I figured I'd offer an idea on how to keep it still in rotation after the gems are updated. Im excited for the grind so it's been fun. Thanks for the info about drop rates.
