#Fix interrupt counters

I disagree (in a way) it would make it so Rime, Tariq, Helena and Meiko would always have a lot more interrupts over the others due to having aoe stuns.
I think a better way would be to have a separate category called stunned interrupts.
Its kind of a useless metric anyway, a friend of mine when we run together is always stealing my interrupts just so he can say i didn't interrupt as much as i should have as he knows he bugs me with those kinds of comments 😛
In pugs especially, if you're someone who is comfortable with getting an interrupt quite late in the cast, someone else could get antsy and take the interrupt just before you did it, they can then claim 'look i interrupted the one you marked because you didn't do it' when you were very much going to do it and actually did it but it doesn't show up, because your interrupt wasn't the first one on that cast.
Its a metric used to try and get a sense of superiority when a run goes sideways, but it prooves absolutely nothing in general.
You cant claim "you never interrupted" if you didn't log the run and can proove not a single CAST of their interrupt was done.
Isn't the point of interrupt tracker to show how many spells you stop? What does it matter if one dps is higher on the interrupt because it's actually tracking how many spells they stop with something other than the interrupt button?
They used a spell to stop spells that potentially saved your group from getting hit with that spell. I personally think it should show up even if they stopped it with something other than the actual interrupt spell.
Honestly it's a dumb metric to track imo. Most people don't really care and don't bother to look at the interrupt meters as long as the group doesn't wipe. Even if the group did wipe, it doesn't mean much because it means the spell that was actually deadly was not stopped. You can point to the number in the interrupt tracker to say it's not your fault because your number is bigger but honestly it could be padded by kicking filler spells.
many (most?) pulls that require interrupts have more than one interrupt required, one person can't interrupt both mobs. And regardless, it's a stat that only matters when things are going wrong (i.e. not being interrupted) and it's helpful then
Just because there are multiple interrupts to be gotten doesn't mean 3 people wont try to kick the first ooga flame that occurs.
In such a case, 1 person will have an interrupt on the tracker, 2 others will 'look bad' whilst also trying to interrupt the same thing.
I'm talking about multiple enemies that cast ooga
and 'look bad' on interrupts is as dumb as 'look bad' on DPS (ex: if you're targeted regularly and have to move)
ngl in a world everyone can put a marker on a mob, if you all interrupt the same one the issue isnt about the tracker
meters always require context, but you should include all relevant data. By your logic, if Ice Comet wasn't counted, it'd be fine b/c not everyone has equally good AOE dps, or is as good at using every GCD, or reacts equally quickly to pulls.
If someone objects to my dps as rime in the first 5 seconds of a pull, they're dumb. If someone just looks at interrupt numbers, they're dumb. That doesn't mean "don't include all interrupts on the interrupt counter"
Include the relevant data, apply context to evaluating it as per always
Also true, and you can see if 2 people go on CD together, if you're using interrupt markers, then you know people are at least trying
I do agree with this though
Because stuns have another use as well, because if someone just "padding" their interrupts with earthbreaker it doesnt mean they're doing their job, etc
If you're pushing the desecrator out of that healing puddle, you did something good; it wont reflect on interrupt though. Someone stupid could go "wow you're a rime with aoe interrupt? why no more interrupt" (granted that attacking people on the metter is more often than not stupid)
Its not but it happens, also ranged DDs might inadvertedly bait out interrupts on their mark as they tend to not have their interrupt back for the second cast on the mob but they'll CC it. Anxious tanks may use their interrupt 'just to be sure', if the CC happened before that interrupt will not be on the tracker.
yeah it does happen sometimes, but it's kind of a "ah, need to communicate better issue; go again"
yeah for sure
and having the stuns in a separate tab doesnt prevent taking it in account though
Basically what we're discussing is to have attempted interrupts counted, rather than succesful interrupts right ?
ngl, this is something you can see in the logs if it really matters, or like boredguy8 said : you'll see the lil marker go in game as well if it's to not be insulted for not interrupting :D
This is true for all meters though. If a rime doesn't interrupt in order to pad DPS, the DPS meters become irrelevant. By this logic, just don't have meters
The idea is to look at ALL meters, not just one specific one.
Sure. And right now, one of the meters isn't accurately reflecting what it claims to reflect, and you're arguing (for some reason) it shouldn't
No no, i'm agreeing its a bad metric atm, but adding attempted interrupts to it doesn't magically make it a good metric.
meters in a vacuum are indeed irrelevant, yes
but they do offer interesting informations as a whole though
They can give you a hint as to what might be wrong
hps is probably the biggest culprit of them all tbh
but you should then look deeper if it mattered, or let it go if it didn't 😛
When i'm healing i only have dps meters tbh 😄
could i do higher hps sure, is it necessary if everyone is staying alive? not at all
So what makes sense, push more damage xd
definitely
i have the hps overall as dps because i'm showing off my big rime healing parses!
joke aside, as a healer i look what i heal relative to the tank for instance
I didn't suggest attempted interrupts, I suggested all actual interrupts be included, regardless of the source. Right now interrupts are only counted if it's a kick interrupt
is that meiko sweating for her life because i'm vibin kinda thing
