#Provide forum feedback here

I think a forum type (basically a channel with a bunch of sub-channels) is significantly more use than the original implementation of threads and stickers, so we're giving it a chance
forum channels are what threads should have been
I think this is better. Sometimes the threads would get too cluttered because some random individuals would butt into a conversation and be like “lfg” or “Is Fizz just so kawaii XD” and it would sometimes derail what others were just talking about and it would make rereading the chat obnoxious.
I’m all for this setup personally.
The only use I’ve seen for threads was when reply chains get long, to separate sub-topics that pop up in chats.
Forum threads definitely seem more universally useful, there’s a lot of healthy discussion going on that I’ve been reading. Somewhat dislike the fact the UI in forum channels once you click a topic remains entirely similar to a normal channel, but that could just be a nitpick.
Overall, very solid addition.
(looks like that UI bit changed a bit for the better lol)
This is pretty good. Promise I’ll keep on topic with these, we don’t need a “serious-league-serious”
Forums are still in development and we are only testing it for now. Once we have some positive feedback from the ones we did make and discord themselves, you can expect to see some more channels like this.
This is so cool wtf!? I love this
Is this the only server testing the feature? Or is it being rolled out already?
there's a small group of servers testing it right now, although I'm not sure which
looks cool actually, organized and stuff
Pretty good feature, users can scroll through and see which one they could offer good answers to and join the discussion easily.
There's also the " Like " and " Follow " option, as well as the amount of comments in the thread itself. I guess the " Like " option acts as an upvote and the " Follow " option notifies the user so that they can review the discussion whenever they're free.
Super good, should be permanently implemented here
We are liking it as well. The organized look to it is very appealing and a way for people to discuss different topic without disrupting others is very nice. If Discord does implement it, we will have it permanently
is there a way i can search by a specific tag or title ?
Not as of yet
You’re actually unable to add a flair/tag when making a thread on the iOS app
This is more of a question rather than feedback, will the threads stay open? Oh and also if there are matching questions, do they get merged into 1?
A lot of people writing are not actually saying anything concrete except “get good at the game” or “play (insert champion) ez”
threads are archived after 24 hours of inactivity, and merging threads is not a thing
do pinned "posts" get archived as well?
that's something I don't have an answer to, but I will in 1 hour when a test post I made reaches the archive time
i'd still prefer using reddit since reddit posts can be crawled and indexed by google, so you can get results from the subreddit on google.
Discord is gated so search engines cant crawl it and it's hard to search
ig this is good for questions when you need a quick reply since i think response times on discord are faster than reddit.
Mostly a small group of large servers but also servers of Discord employees, some of which are content creators.
I think forums are somewhat better than threads (which is a very poorly implemented and pointless feature in my opinion). Forums compensate for this, and give some utility to what threads can be. If the forums are approved, they should remove the threads in the channels.
yeah i really like this layout
and that its pretty perfect for this server
its just better reddit now imo
it really is one of the best addition to it i need to add this to my server
How do I add a forum channel to my server?
It's currently in a very limited invite-only test
If you have not been contacted by Discord staff, then you do not have an invite
do you have an ETA when it will be a public feature
I know nothing, and if I did I wouldn't be able to say
at this point I'm just hoping they don't remove it, because that's not known, either
How about moderation of the forum? Is it manageable in this big server? Cuz I can imagine it being tedious looking through each forum cuz bots don't seem to work here.
not a mod but they seem to check periodically to kill off troll/shitpost threads
saw some threads with racial slurs and they’d kill it in like 10m
Thanks for the feedback

Such a cool feature.
could I get an invite? 😄

Threads are nice, but only in certain situations. Forums are great for large-scale servers.
we don't work for Discord, so we can't help you
as far as we're aware, you can only be invited by Discord staff as they alpha test forums, which includes signing forms
the feature is not released
its honestly a very good feature but i dont see its use in non big/ game related servers tbh
also idk if its just me but when ever i use the search function for this channel it gets stuck at loading
:)
hello yes, sometimes cant delete own topic, its lagging. Idk if its a server or discord problem, I dont care
Just saying
probably a Discord problem
based on my conversations with Discord, they're aiming for the feature to fit into a different place than reddit and making it more like traditional forums
where the only threads that matter are new and active ones
is there anything in particular that makes you want hot/new feeds?
Right now the only options to sort out the posts are recent activity and creation time. which is already like hot and new. having an option to look at/ sort posts with highest upvotes/downvotes would weed out bad posts and save our time. tags are really good feature though. but users cant make new tags, maybe a post on itself just to add highest upvoted tags would be nice ? need a tag for rants. maybe also more feature like selecting more tags or even invert searching tags,
forum posts don't have upvotes, though, so I don't see how they could sort by that
"likes" used to be a thing that reacted with a heart emoji, but I think they removed that
yea its the same thing, i wonder why they did that
Thread owners should be able to remove people from posts they own
https://i.imgur.com/tcXXFq1.png My thread looks like this because of the amount of blocked messages in my post
that looks like Discord is just broken and not loading the channel; blocked messages don't look like that
Blocked messages look like that for me when there are alot of them
They are completely removed for me instead of showing a dropdown.
Also we should be able to remove people from our own threads
based on my conversations with Discord and knowledge of how it works, that's not possible
individual threads don't have their own permissions distinct from the parent forum
they also told me they're not going to be changing that
but I'm not Discord, so who knows
I've seen a number of other servers already make that suggestion
gaming
I wish the posts were sorted somehow
Like the thread with the most traffic of the week at the top, etc
This way interesting topics wouldnt be lost and then deleted
Yeah, I think the 50+ messages thing isn't enough. I'd really like it to work very closely to classic forums work(ed). I am very against upvotes or a reddit style system in any way, I think only highlighting posts people agree with creates circlejerks and it's very unfun
I like it a lot because I can go in and not have to sort through 3 other convos to find any answers to questions I have
I have a question
i would like to post a thread but it says im being rate limited? whatdoes it mean
the only rate limit we've set is one post per minute, so if it's not that then I don't know
the post worked! i just waited a bit
it's not readily apparent where to find the rules for the forum
there's #rules and guidelines which can be seen at the right hand corner of the screen on the home page of this forum system tho
Discord is still working on the implementation; they're going to be adding a pop-up on mobile when you enter a forum for the first time
I really enjoy this feature so far. One topic, most people stay on it. I wouldn't mind some sorting system other than the two options we have now. Feels a bit reddit like, but I don't mind that so much.
I think there’s a bug, at least on mobile,(not sure about PC as I haven’t been on PC discord in awhile) but whenever I read a thread it doesn’t mark it as read anymore and it takes me back to the last “new” message(s).
Edit: it only marks as read if I hit the [x] on the bar indicating how many new messages there are, but not if I scroll all the way down.
idk how to make a thread
